Reviews for Hotel Deutscher Hof
Review 1:The hotel was very warm during this wet and chilly week. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Main shopping area and old city easy to walk to.
Review 2:Very friendly staff, communicated easily in English Easy parking right next to hotel Good breakfast, good restaurant for dinner Spatious, pratical, comfortable rooms, good beds
Review 3:Service staff is super friendly. Breakfast is healthy and rich in variety (gluten free etc). Sufficient parking space. Later arrival = no problem Alles wunderbar!
Review 4:Staff was fabulous; very attentive and gracious. I left an item behind and staff mailed it to me in the States at no charge! Can't say enough good things about Hotel Deutscher Hof. Oh, yes, breakfast was excellent too!
Review 5:good breakfast selection and fair price at only 8 euro Friendly, professional staff Clean room - I think they gave us a free upgrade! Convenient parking
Review 6:There is plenty of parking beside the hotel. As you approach the hotel get into the right hand lane and be ready to turn into the entrance to the parking which is before you get to the hotel. The hotel is located close to the city and it is an easy walk to all the main sights in Trier. We enjoyed the restaurant in the evening and a good breakfast. There were some thoughtful little touches like different coloured towels for each guest.
Review 7:This hotel is perfectly situated to walk to everything. The rooms are so well laid out, perfect use of space. Quiet, comfortable, everything seems like new. We were in second building in the back, not on the busy street. Very nice breakfast, with lots of servers to assist. Parking. Water kettle for tea or coffee.
Review 8:The weather...
Review 9:Super efficient staff at the check in desk, super parking, clean rooms and excellent breakfast - added to crystal clear info on restaurants in the area
Review 10:The owners went way past the necessary to provide for our needs, even to the point of leaving our car in their parking garage and using their wi-fi after we had moved to a nearby facility because their property was fully booked without us. They also helped us master our German GPS and recommended two wonderful restaurants.
Review 11:The property was well maintained. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the location near the old city, the Barbara Therman and the Roman bridge was perfect for walking.
Review 12:Very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent facilities. Closeness to town centre. Our son and daughter-in-law had a room next to ours and were equally impressed. We all enjoyed the quality and variety of the breakfast.
Review 13:Cater to bicyclists. Great breakfast. Across street from pedestrian zone. Easy walking distance to Hauptmarkt. Attentive, knowledgeable staff. Great bicycle shop around corner.
Review 14:The hotel is quite good but much more standard than the presentation and the booking.com average grade would suggest. The bottle of water in the room comes with a charge, if you want to use the whirl pool in the sauna section there is also a 3 euro charge pr 10 minute unit. It would be better for the customer's perception of the hotel if it didn't come across as a place where they are out to make extra money whereever possible.
Review 15:Staff was courteous, location turned out to be quite good.
Review 16:Much better bread and cakes, home-made and not off the shelf, is what one would expect in a medium-sized German hotel, especially one with such a name..
Review 17:Towels of two different colours so that people using the same barthroom do not mistake them are an example of a very welcome, thoughtful attention to detail.
Review 18:The hotel is in an excellent location and the staff I found to be very helpful indeed. The hotel & room was very clean and tidy and the bed was really comfortable. Can't wait for Dec when we return for the Xmas market.
Review 19:Very nice hotel, always choosing another one in Trier but definitely will choose this one next time. Big parking space which is another places is a problem, clean rooms/bathroom, very nice care of our daughter.
Review 20:Having to pay for parking. Also, substantial sum, not related to my booking, was taken from my Visa account on day of booking. Only refunded after I made enquiries ten days later on receiving Visa statement. Never received satisfactory explanation or apology.
Review 21:Superior double room very good, breakfast good, location fine for walking to all main sights.
Review 22:People were talking and smoking outside our bedroom window all night, so it was hard to sleep. No airconditioning.
Review 23:Rooms were clean. Breakfast was good. Staff was friendly.
Review 24:First room allocated had very noisy building work occurring locally. We requested another room which was eventually allocated. We should not have needed to do this as the staff should have known that the original room was not usable.
Review 25:Location to center of city.
Review 26:Though not yet shabby room interior needs a touch of refreshment or re-design.
Review 27:Location is good both for arrivals/departures and city sight-seeing, a spacious parking lot, plentiful and tasty breakfast.
Review 28:No complaints.
Review 29:The bedroom and bathroom were immaculate. I had a small single room, which was plenty of room for me (desk with chair, single bed, closet, small bench, etc.). The location was good--a short distance from the city centre. There is also a bus stop directly across the street from the hotel with a bus to the central train station. That was very convenient. Friendly staff.
Review 30:Breakfast like a scrum, constantly running out of food, no bread rolls or bread at all after 09.30. Charged for breakfast even though didn't take it on day one. Made to feel cheap by receptionist when challenged as to charge for something I hadn't taken, poor service really. Hotel full over our stay so maybe couldn't cope with the numbers. Not enough parking spaces for number of guests, another scrum and then a charge again! Have to pay cash on departure for parking can't be put on your bill, very strange accounting.
Review 31:Bed very comfortable, room nice and clean. Great location for town center
Review 32:Staff very friendly. Encouraged me when I tried to speak some German. For our dog they had left, in the room, a small rug, 2 dog bowls, one with a dog biscuit.
Review 33:Our room was some distance from reception, pass the seminar rooms. Although we took the lift to the first floor, there was a dip in the corridor, so we were required to take our cases down a number of steps and after a couple of metres, up another set. As we had booked a room at the last moment, perhaps this was one of the last available rooms, but we weren't advised of this at reception.
Review 34:Easy walking distance to centre of Trier.
Review 35:In room poor internet, no air conditioner. When the window is open the street noises are problem.
Review 36:Good location , bus stop right there , good breakfast.
Review 37:A very comfortable hotel that was centrally located and an easy walk to visit the main attractions of Trier. Car parking at the hotel was also convenient. The breakfasts were excellent and it was a nice touch to eat the honey made by the hotel's own beehives.
Review 38:I'm not that fond of memory foam beds and they seemed to retain the body heat on a hot night. It was 95 degrees when we were there and a bit uncomfortable at night, but this hotel was probably more comfortable than others.
Review 39:The location outside city center makes this hotel quieter, a good thing on hot summer nights when you want your windows open since there's no air conditioning. It's also a nice walk to the Roman baths and amphitheater. We had two triple rooms and they were huge with separate shower and toilet facilities.
Review 40:Having to pay to use their car park a first for me in a hotel of this size in any country I have visited. very poor!!
Review 41:Convenient for city centre. Good breakfast
Review 42:Only VERY small complaint is that more shelves in the bathroom would be helpful
Review 43:Everything was first class. The bedroom air conditioning was very quiet
Review 44:The hotel's location and parking facilities make it very accessible for touring Trier. The breakfast was an unexpected treat and extensive and delicious.
Review 45:We did specify "quite room please" on bookings.com but this did not get taken up. We learnt that room away from busy road cost a little extra. Whilst we would have been happy to pay supplement, on the day of arrival there were none spare. It was a hot evening and just had to have window open and put up with a lot of traffic noise.
Review 46:The room was excellent - the hotel was well situated on the edge of the old town.
Review 47:*I had specifically asked for a ground floor room due to disability. When we arrived we were allocated a garret accessed by a narrow spiral staircase. Both my husband and I are in our late 60s and thought this totally unacceptable. Eventually given another room slightly better BUT the floor was lino, the bathroom tiled and really rather dangerous. There was no shelving of use in the shower. The storage was awful. One wardrobe with unusable shelves. No drawers. No fridge or safe. The room was ergonomically very poor. Could not watch TV from the chairs as TV pedestal blocked by kettle shelf. Wifi did not work in our room so we had to sit out on the landing to receive a signal. Mentioned this many times to reception. Hotel seems to be used as a one nighter for package tours so staying for three nights we hoped to receive the sort of treatment we have had with the Golden Tulip cnain where stays of 3 nights or more are automatically upgraded. Also guests were charged for parking. Felt the staff were superficially efficient, but not a lot happened in response to complaints re Wifi.
Review 48:*Hotel is within walking distance of the centre of Trier which is a BIG plus. * Room was kept very clean with plenty of tea/coffee always on hand. *Breakfast was really nice and we were not hurried.
Review 49:The food in the restaurant of the hotel was disappointing and therefore expensive. The lounge was in het hall of the hotel, but very in the open. No space to relaxe with a drink before going to sleep.
Review 50:The location to the centre of the city and the old town. Good restaurants there.
Review 51:Noisy. If you're looking for quiet, find another hotel. If you like to stay up and party, probably the right location. Staff was reluctantly helpful; not the most courtiest or friendly. Room has no fans or AC.
Review 52:Good Location and Good Breakfast, at additional cost, but reasonable.
Review 53:The reviews are certainly overrated. Although this is quite an okay hotel, it is very simple indeed and the level of comfort was certainly lower than expected, given the previous reviews.
Review 54:Great location - walkable distance to centre. Wonderful breakfast and working wifi
Review 55:The room we stayed in was rather small.
Review 56:Very good location, close to the city center and all tourist atractions. The hotel staff was very friendly and provided us with a city map and a much needed umbrella. Breakfast was fabulous at a very good price.
Review 57:Tempure pedic mattresses were hard. Shower was very small. Wifi was unreliable even in the lobby.
Review 58:Excellent breakfast, a real bargain. Excellent dinner in the restaurant. Friendly, helpful staff. Large room.
Review 59:Terrific staff, plenty of English. Comfy, clean rooms (beds a little soft). Terrific location for lots of walks in old Trier. Excellent restaurant for dinner. Easy parking.
Review 60:Coach party caused mayhem at breakfast on Saturday morning - situation retrieved by smiling waitress!
Review 61:10 minutes walk to centre of Trier. Great bedroom with excellent bed, large and well-equipped bathroom. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 62:My room had no internet. We had to go to the corridor or on the ground floor for WIFI access. But, we were on holidays, and internet was not so critical.
Review 63:Very clean and staff very helpful. Close to town and very good breakfast. We visited during Easter, and the Easter decos makes like home.
Review 64:A little pricy. Wifi not available everywhere.
Review 65:Facilities for receiving families with young kids was great. Baby beds were made available, baby dining chairs also. Great also to have the sauna/hamman facilities on top of the hotel. Good location: near the historical part of the city as well as the shopping part.
Review 66:Unpleasant surprise with high cost if parking at the end (no prior information given).
Review 67:Friendliness and professionalism of staff, cleanliness and comfort, location.
Review 68:wi fi was very good but had to register with phone, only downside of the room was the lack of a small fridge.
Review 69:staff was very polite and they all spoke English, room was very spacious with a combination of traditional and minimalistic modern style, very nice indeed. Breakfast was also good and you can buy local products like honey and marmalade from reception. Highly recommended
Review 70:Wifi didn't go as far as our rooms
Review 71:Warm welcome for my dog with blanket, dog bowls and even a biscuit Friendly staff, nice rooms, excellent restaurant (the topimandour soup was amazing!) At breakfast you can take your honey from a fresh honeycomb
Review 72:The hotel is located right on the edge of the city center. Parking only cost 5 Euros a day and they let you leave it there after you check out. The staff was great and very helpful.
Review 73:Wi-fi is not as strong as it could be, this is the second time I have stayed, so two different rooms and the wi-fi reception is not strong
Review 74:staff very friendly, good size room, large breakfast, close to city centre
Review 75:No mini bar in room
Review 76:Staff friendly and helpful. Especially Nicola in reception and Magda in restaurant. Location, room spotless and modern and the best bit was that it snowed...
Review 77:The WiFi is horrible. They Gabe us several codes, but it's just bad internet connection everywhere :(.
Review 78:Staff was nice and room clean. Easy walk to the point of interest.
Review 79:We chose Hotel Deutscher Hof because of their on-site parking and a location that did not require navigating narrow streets. It was perfect. Parking was within feet of the lift. The hotel is clean, modern and comfortable. The staff is courteous and helpful. We typically choose small, old, family-run hotels when we travel but Hotel Deutscher Hof was a welcome break.
Review 80:That as a guest you have to pay for sauna facilities and for the parking. A little bit noisy with a lot of seminar rooms which are located everywhere in the hotel and not clustered.
Review 81:Good room, big for two people. Breakfast buffet is good with big choice of products also local any if not inc. the price of 8euro p.p. is not bad. Hotel is close to walking part of the city, historic attractions and to the main road.
Review 82:We arrived at trier station and from there found it was an easy walk to reach the deucherhof. It is situated very near to the town centre where you will find a fantastic shopping centre! Checked in at the hotel but room was not ready so had to return at 3. Room allocated was lovely, clean and modern and spacious for the 3 of us. We were located to the rear in the annexe. The breakfast next morning was really good with a great selection- even bacon and eggs. Nothing negative about this place and we would return. Staff were pleasant, but did not try and converse or interact.
Review 83:Connecting to the internet did'nt work using the instructions, but once I asked the reception staff, they gave me a short code and I got connected immediately.
Review 84:Friendly and helpful welcome at reception especially as I didn't speak the language. My room was fabulously clean, modern facilities and very comfortable. Breakfast next morning was fabulous. the hotel is in a perfect location to see the sights of Trier by foot.
Review 85:Room was on the street, but we liked the breeze coming through the open window. The street noise was not horrible - just the occasional police siren...
Review 86:Room was clean and nicely appointed. Staff pleasant; breakfast definitely worth the extra few euro.
Review 87:On the main road. Our room was at the back of the hotel so cannot comment on noise.
Review 88:Plenty of parking space (5 €/day). Immediate reaction on walking into the hotel: spotlessly clean and calm. Our room: quiet, light and airy, spacious. The beds comfortable with crisp, white linen. Decor pleasant. Sizeable flat-screen TV. Very happy to find tea/coffee-making facilities in-room. Fantastic breakfast reasonably priced (8 €). Hotel to Kornmarkt 10 min walk.
Review 89:Nothing really - perhaps the restaurant was a bit ordinary.
Review 90:Well situated, close to the pedestrianised historic centre, and with ample on site parking. Very helpful, English speaking staff.
Review 91:We only stayed one night in this hotel on our journey home from Munich to Scotland. Excellent value for money. Very clean and modern hotel. Pretty room with plenty space for double and single bed plus dog. Dog bowls left in room laid out on very clean waterproof mat. Two dog biscuits in bowl. We were in the annexe which meant going outside and into main hotel for breakfast but only had to cross their car park. Breakfast was self-service and delicious and staff very attentive. Our dog was allowed into the restaurant too. Pity we couldn't stay longer as Trier is also a very pretty town.
Review 92:There are unavoidable steps (four up and down) on the corridor which is very annoying if the luggage is heavy. I do not understand why there is no ramp for trolleys. Our room was very noisy as it faced the nearby crossroad.
Review 93:comfortable beds very clean rooms and bathrooms excellent breakfast good location
Review 94:breakfast expensive for a family, shame they do not have a kid's option who eat less.
Review 95:room modern bed comfortable convenient parking. Tasty healthy breakfast
Review 96:We had dinner there as it was raining - the vegetables with dinner were boiled (sugar snap peas) to a mush- we fed this back to the waiter.... Generally the food was not as good as other hotels/restaurants we had eaten in.
Review 97:Hotel was a good standard
Review 98:no negatives
Review 99:A beautiful hotel in a minutes walking distance from the historic town centre. The restaurant menu was good and the food excellent. Whilst we had a small bedroom it perfectly met our needs and the en-suite was clean and well-equipped. The Garden terrace was very pleasant and so was the beer. Breakfast was good and plentiful of the standard European help yourself variety and there was hot food available. The staff were excellent - very helpful and willing
Review 100:If we stayed there longer I'd get fat from eating their breakfasts, if you could call that a problem. Comfort got "good" because room was a little small to be "excellent".
Review 101:Across road from start of pedestrian only old city center. Had on site parking. Wonderful hot breakfast buffet with eggs, bacon, sausage, cold meats and cheeses, yogurts, fresh fruit, and more. Hot pot, teas in room. Good elevator and handicap accessible. About a 20-30 minute walk from train station: walk due south to Punto Negra, turn east through pedestian zone to far end, cross street to hotel.
Review 102:Bed was the hardest I have ever encountered
Review 103:Convenient location, helpful staff, spacious room
Review 104:Professional and friendly staff!
Review 105:a bit expensive for what they offer
Review 106:Location, available parking and very nice breakfast

Review 109:Pity breakfast was not included in the price.
Review 110:Location was excellent!!
Review 111:Nothing to add.
Review 112:Good breakfast, very good internet connection 35/35 mbs in my room 127.
Review 113:Distance from the train station
Review 114:Breakfast was amazing.
Review 115:the room was a bit old-fashioned
Review 116:the private parking(not free of charge) the location, the high maintnance.
Review 117:Great staff, nice facility, good breakfast
Review 118:24 euros for breakfast buffett!
Review 119:Clean quiet rooms even with road nearby
Review 120:no shower slow internet
Review 121:location
Review 122:Location on the ring road, not very convenient for the main rail station, and a bit noisy at times
Review 123:Great room, very comfortable
Review 124:Very close to the pedestrian central area of town. Good, on site parking.
Review 125:Every thing is good
