Reviews for Hotel La Quinta Roja
Review 1:Very nice but modestly sized and appointed room. No fridge was disappointing. Has small roof terrace but can only accommodate a few people, so very few facilities for what your paying and it is quite expensive.
Review 2:Lovely old building with central courtyard in main square. Staff were charming and breakfast very nice.
Review 3:Garachico great for adults, but not so much going on for older teenagers.
Review 4:Staff are great, helpful and friendly, speak good English. Beautiful courtyard in hotel, where we could relax. Lots of good restaurants in Garachico. Could sit outside at breakfast, lovely fresh fruit at breakfast.
Review 5:Poor coffee at breakfast. They should have a Nespresso machine, or equivalent, in a hotel of this quality Noisy room doors - impossible to close quietly in the middle of the night
Review 6:Very helpful staff, beautiful building in a perfect position. Rooms exquisite Fast wifi
Review 7:We didn't think the junior suite was a our idea of a suite it was a room with a extra room at the back which wasn't much use
Review 8:Lots of character in this hotel, lovely location in a attractive square, the staff were very helpful and the breakfasts were excellent
Review 9:I liked everything. Only two things that could be improved: the price and the fact that because it's an old wooden building it might be noisy when people walk around.
Review 10:Breakfast was great, staff as well and it is located in a very nice building in the centre of a lovely village. Staff recommended many good restaurants and activities around Tenerife.
Review 11:The hotel is not accessible by car - the nearest public car park is about 40 metres away. The hotel was difficult to find - so get detailed instructions ahead of time (my mistake). The bells, the bells! Well if we will stay in a hotel next to a beautiful church and convent over a weekend. In truth they were not that disturbing - and we had the windows open at night.
Review 12:Lots of places to sit quietly and read. The breakfast was very good. The hotel has a bar though I never saw it being used. We booked a junior suite and the extra room was well worth the cost. Location is excellent right on the main square. A lovely, friendly little restaurant just 40 metres away (next to the public car park). the staff were unobtrusive but if anything was needed they went out of their way to help.
Review 13:Wonderful hotel, lovely, helpful staff (all of them). the place has been refurbished in exactly the way you would want for an 18th century palacio - all original, local materials and local craftsmen. The lady at reception was able to give me (in English!) all the details on the beautiful wood used in the flooring and roofing (local pine, heartwood, if you're interested), so I think they're pretty passionate about their hotel too! Don't pass up on a chance to stay here, if you're in the area. Very GF too!
Review 14:Shower wasn't that powerful. Could do with tea and coffe in room plus water would be nice/ fridge. Bar is desolate which is a shame as lovely. Hated the fact that I had to keep removing roped barrier when I came in and out. It's apprently to stop tourists wandering in. Breakfast was good on Sunday morning although no cooked offering of eggs for example. Coffee was dreadful and from an urn even though they had a proper italian coffee machine. Monday morning breakfast wasn't as good as the day before a fruit salad. Croissants were fab though and plenty of them. Home made jam also great.
Review 15:Room 205. Size of room large. Two extra large single beds pushed together but made up separately. Very very comfortable. Location right in main square. Near mirador restaurant ( 2 mins). Faculty to store and hire bikes. Lovely character building. Fresh orange at breakfast. Wifi is good
Review 16:A very nice hotel, well run by very welcoming and friendly staff. Spacious and clean rooms with ample public lounging areas around the hotel. Good location on town square, but quiet, easy walking to seafront and restaurants.
Review 17:Wifi only in the lobby area, not in the rooms.
Review 18:Perfect location and friendly staff. Simple but elegant rooms facing a beautiful courtyard. Good and hearty breakfast. All in all, highly recommended.
Review 19:Bedroom overlooked by houses across a narrow street with no net curtains to provide privacy during daylight hours. Malfunctioning TV (but not a problem when on holidays!)
Review 20:Located in the centre of Garachico, a town with a great choice of cafes and restaurants. Glassed tower room giving 360* views. Beautiful internal courtyard. Good walking routes within a short drive.
Review 21:We asked for a room with a large bed. But two beds put together does not make a large bed
Review 22:nearly everything, good location, Quiet, excellent breakfast,. Unfortunately we got plenty of rain. We certainly will come back
Review 23:Nothing the hotel has a relaxed modern but old world charm mercifully devoid of chintz or faux luxury
Review 24:The staff were excellent, everything ran smoothly with service but more than that real people passionate about their hotel and town and always flexible helpful and free with their advice.
Review 25:Absolutely nothing
Review 26:We loved Paloma her personality and sharing of information because the hotel is an integral part of the square it was very special Just a lovely lovely place to stay and enjoy we miss the freshly squeezed orange juice banana bread and the one legged birdy that greeted us every morning !
Review 27:No wifi in bedroom difficult to access in a car but reasonable on street parking just by the hotel once you find it not much wrong with it really would absolutely go again if I was in that part of Tenerife
Review 28:nearly everything, the rom was great, the building was beautiful, the location in the town square was great. The preservation of the original features was great. Best of all was the gorgeous wooden floor on the upstairs level for which I just had to take my shoes off and walk on barefoot. Lovely courtyard on teh ground level.
Review 29:No fridge
Review 30:Beautiful Restoration of Building Great Location Excellent Breakfast Lovely Large Room Vaulted Ceiling 17th Century Features Nice staff
Review 31:No parking, no bath in our room. Heavy narrow glass doors into reception.
Review 32:Lovely view from window on to town square, good air con in room. Beach towels provided, bath robes provided. Freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast. Interesting turtles in outdoor area. Helpful reception staff. Promptly fixed plumbing problem. Free wifi which worked. Lots of loungers in internal court yard. Easy walking distance to seaside and cafés and restaurants.
Review 33:Jacuzzi bit col
Review 34:area adjoining shower very slippery
Review 35:Being a rural hotel
Review 36:Room cramped and shower flooded the bathroom.
Review 37:Beautiful building in central location.
Review 38:The style of the building, a 17C palace. Good breakfast, very friendly, and helpful staff
Review 39:Room looked out on noisy road
Review 40:Friendly staff; enjoyed the live music; good breakfast
Review 41:No bad experiences
Review 42:Small family run hotel...attention to detail very good...very helpful staff...good location...would recommend to friends
Review 43:Had a little glitch with the AC first night but quickly sorted out
Review 44:Peaceful surroundings at the hotel
Review 45:Loved the balcony and the terrace overlooking the square - which is the very centre of the town. Very romantic. The room is spacious and nice.
Review 46:Nothing
Review 47:Location in Garachico
Review 48:Very friendly staff, beautiful inner courtyard and very spacious rooms in the traditional Canarian style
Review 49:Great atmosphere Quiet and restful Close to the sea water pools Spacious room Very nice bathroom
Review 50:Very good reakfast (fresh products), the location, historic building with a nice patio, spacious rooms. The owner was very friendly.
Review 51:The staff were most friendly and helpful; the building was beautiful with a lovely courtyard; the breakfasts were very good; and my room was comfortable. Although there is now no restaurant, there are plenty nearby.
Review 52:Nothing really - tho hot tub wasn't working. Other than that it was all good.
Review 53:lovely building in great spot - right on the picturesque square. Breakfast was good - could eat inside or outside.
Review 54:Overpriced - nearly 200 euros for a junior suite, which was just a roomwith another corridor like room attached, which was not inductive tositting in. Air con only pumped hot air out. Clean-ish room/bathroombut cheap soaps etc used and not even one complimentary bottle of watersupplied....
Review 55:Good location very old property comprehensive breakfast
Review 56:A few more bars with a little more colour in the area would be good but that is a small gripe
Review 57:Best hotel in the best town on the island we found. The staff were a delight.
Review 58:No lift but that was not a problem,
Review 59:We had a room overlooking the square in this boutique hotel. It exceeded our expectations and we will definitely return there when we next visit Garachico.
Review 60:The location of the hotel was very good,it was easy to get to other villages to see the more traditional Tenerife. We had an enjoyable stay, staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the courtyard setting. Would stay there again.
Review 61:The only thing - we could clearly hear what is happening in the next room to ours, but it was not a big trouble.
Review 62:This hotel is just perfect. We loved literally everything about it. Garachico is charming little town and the hotel is located right in the heart of it. The hotel is very cozy, romantic place with great atmosphere. The breakfast does not offer huge variety of food choices, but everything offered is good quality and delicious. I wish we could stay there longer :)
Review 63:This is a wonderful hotel situated in the centre of the attractive small town of Garachico in a quiet part of Tenerife.Excellent hiking within reasonable car drive. Town has lots of good bars and restuarants. I endorse all of Daniele's comments but we had very nice warm sunny weather on all but one day. Easier to get to from Tenerife South airport if you take the motorway all round the island via Santa Cruz (about 1.5 hours) rather than the winding mountainous roads if you go via Santiago del Teide.
Review 64:Shower, would have perfered a bath. Noise due to wooden floors. Lack of general information concerning the workings and history of the hotel.
Review 65:Courtyard and general ambiance. We go again.
Review 66:The building is beautiful and the location in the village perfect, right beside the plaza. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Nice breakfast served in the patio every morning.
Review 67:We had a room which was on the ground floor. View out of small window to street at head height so you couldnt leave the window open. Room stuffy and hot for this reason. For what we paid it wasn't good value for money. We realize its a historic 16th centuary building but the ground floor room prices should be a lot cheaper. Poor lighting in room.
Review 68:Nice staff. very helpful and friendly. Lovely courtyard. Great breakfast.
Review 69:The staff were very helpful and welcoming. We had a lovely room with a terrace (the only one), and had a great four nights in Garachico. Highly recommended.
Review 70:Paloma and her staff were wonderful - friendly, informative, fun! Thehotel is beautiful, a fantastic restored colonial home. And Garachico isjust beautiful - the town, the swimming, the environs, the food!Couldn't recommend it more. Only possible drawback: the 7 A.M.church bells. But the town square is a great place to be.
Review 71:Near the church and the bells chime from 7am every morning on the hour. But you get used to it.
Review 72:The hotel was in a great position and was in a lovingly restored house with lots of nice comfortable places to sit and read in a lovely setting. We had a junior suite which was large and comfortable.
Review 73:A small fridge and tea/coffee facitlities would be lovely.
Review 74:The hotel was as good as it looked in the pictures. A small, quiet place that oozed charm and history with it´s wooden ceilings, stone staicases and plant ladden courtyards. Our junior suite was enormous with a lovely view over the main square. The hotel staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful, breakfast was relaxed and delicious on the terrace. We loved the place from the roof terrace sauna to the cool shade of the palm fringed courtyard pools. The town is full of fascinating museums, bars and restaurants. Look for La Taskita on Esteban de Ponte, for some of the most original and interesting tapas we´ve eaten. Well worth a visit.
Review 75:Cooked english breakfasts and evening meals are not available, but there are good restaurants nearby.
Review 76:A tastefully restored governor's mansion located in the centre of the old town. This location proved to be ideal as it is a pedestrian only area and quiet at night.Very large bedrooms with modern bathroom. The buffet breakfasts were excellent. Much of the food was home made. The staff were very friendly and efficient.
Review 77:Parking in the town can be as stressfull as in a big city!
Review 78:Garachico is beautiful as well as this small boutique hotel, staff corteus and nice, breakfast small but excellent, really nice Tasca with amazing staff on the side of the structure, thanks Nuria and Samuel!!
Review 79:Nothing to dislike, it's a lovely place, however as i say it's perfect for relaxation and for touring the island, --- but it's not a "beach resort" so to those looking for a sun&sea holiday beware: the sunny south beaches are VERY far from Garachico, and Garachico itself is often cloudy because of the mountains nearby.
Review 80:The hotel is lovely, and Garachico is a true gem.... very picturesque. The hotel is housed within a beautifully restored 16th century villa and has an amazing courtyard with plants. The rooms are large, comfortable and very clean and also the bathrooms are nice. High praises for a FANTASTIC breakfast buffet with LOADS of really nice things (all fresh)..the B'fast room lady is very sweet and makes amazing cakes and jams for the guests.. delicious! Location is perfect for touring or relaxation, and there are also many great restaurants in the village.
Review 81:Downside of the ground floor room was its poor outlook. Wine bar not open on our second night (of two).
Review 82:The ambiance of the hotel is lovely, in particular the wonderful courtyard, filled with light and greenery. The staff were aware of my disability needs and had confirmed prior to arrival the provision of a ground floor room. Excellent breakfasts on a terrace with a turtle pond.
Review 83:Climate of Garachico - it was foggy for 3 days while we were there! Lackof communication by the hotel staff. It was only on our final day thatwe accidentally discovered the sun terrace and sauna! It would have beennice to have been told about them when we arrived.
Review 84:Location in the old town right on the main square Elegant charm of thehotel and the town Quietness
Review 85:What a delight to find a hotel with real Canarian character in Tenerife. The rooms are set around a peaceful courtyard perfect for relaxing with a drink or a book. The larger rooms on the first floor overlooking the square are worth paying the extra. Very comfy bed, stylish furnishings, good bathroom. Downsides: no tea/coffee facilities in room (although this seems to be standard on Tenerife), no min fridge. Excellent breakfasts and large selection of restaurants in Garachico for evening meals. you want to escape the concrete jungle then Garachico and the north west of the island is definitely worth a visit and is well placed for walking in the beautiful Teno Alto.
Review 86:Room and bathroom were rather small; double bed was two singles pushed together; no view from the window; no fridge
Review 87:Lovely, stylish courtyard to relax in; fantastic location in centre of beautiful, little seaside town
Review 88:Finding it was quite difficult, they need to get the hotel registered with the Sat-Nav utilities.
Review 89:Lovely old building beautifully conserved and adapted to hotel, lovely atmosphere, wish it had been a little bit cheaper, and would have stayed longer.
Review 90:Rooms relatively small and no coffee and tea making facilities
Review 91:Great staff and perfect location to visit SW side of the island
Review 92:Very relaxing Excellent breakfast
Review 93:the atmosphere, wonderfully restored traditional hotel
Review 94:Not enough to do in garachico and hotel was a bit too quiet- not enough atmosphere
Review 95:Beautiful building
Review 96:A beautiful old building overlooking a beautiful village square. Lots of character, peaceful & charming
Review 97:Lovely old hotel with lots of character. Comfortable room. Very nice breakfasts.
