Reviews for Hotel Los Habaneros
Review 1:Soaps only for 1st night never renewed: when we come for 2-3 days only by plane, we don't bring our own and don't want to buy full bottles. No way to keep drinks or food at cold.
Review 2:Between train station , punic walls and sea walls, 15 minutes walking to roman ruins. Genuine 3 stars save for soap & freezer.
Review 3:A fridge would have been nice in the room.
Review 4:The location was perfect. The hotel itself felt big and roomy and there was plenty of room for three single beds. Our breakfast was delicious.
Review 5:Almost everything! After the recepcionist´s advice we spent one hour looking for the parking!!!She obviously didn´t want to provide us with the private parking. Afterwards we parked at the paid private parking of hotel which was far away from the acommodation and with all the baggage it was exhausting. Second, we got the worst room ever!!! In the middle of the corridor, we could hear every little move outside. Even there was a window but with the view on the wall - there was kind of a little space with the rest of the cigarettes on the floor! The bathroom was disgusting - with the mold in the bath! And at the end the best - exactly at the midnight the TV turned on on its own and we almost got an heart attack!
Review 6:The only thing we were satisfied with was the location of the hotel the rest....disaster!!!
Review 7:went there for new years eve but all the bars and restaurants were closed in the evening . It would have been nice if the hotel had mentioned it when we checked in.
Review 8:hotel in a good location, nice room
Review 9:Someone went into the room while we sightseeing and 'tided away' our belongings. The smell of tobacco in the room.
Review 10:Breakfast was very good. We arrived early and as the room was ready we were allowed to check in.
Review 11:Plumbing in our room was below par, and no-one seemed able to rectify. Long way to a beach!
Review 12:Staff were excellent, and the bar/cafe was terrific: good tapas at reasonable prices.Really interesting and beautiful city.
Review 13:Room was large, a bit grubby, but only had a small window. Noisy outside but okay if you kept the window closed.
Review 14:Well located with parking in lock up area. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast. Excellent evening meal with option to eat in restaurant or bar area. Introduction to local Jumilla wines.
Review 15:Bar shut at midnight. No fridge. I would like breakfast to be included. Charge more.
Review 16:Able to check in early. Good information re location. Good basic room.
Review 17:nothing no view from our room
Review 18:location central to all in Cartagena room comfy and clean staff friendly and helpful hotel quiet both at night and the morning
Review 19:Poor room colour and decor scheme. ( no pictures etc on walls). Beds soft and quality of Internet poor
Review 20:Property looks great but interior dated. Perfect Location & a nice bar / restaurant. Clean bathroom with an actual bath, appreciated in winter. Room warm and quiet
Review 21:It's old hotel, at my stay, three pieces of furniture I was using fell apart, including door of wardrobe that fell on my head. I'm blond, but my room was full of dark hair, it was really grouse.
Review 22:Good location to reach all I needed, friendly stuff
Review 23:Wifi intermittent, worked ok in entrance lobby but not good in room. Good size single beds but a bit Firm.
Review 24:Nice room with view to part of the old city walls, the room was clean and warm and generally quiet. Very old television but several channels to choose from. Very nice restaurant on ground floor with great food. Friendly staff. Adjacent secure parking area and only 6 euros a day.
Review 25:No restaurant, cafe or bar open on Sunday. Vending machines were the only means of getting refreshments. Windows of room looked out on to other windows so curtains had to be kept closed which made room very dark.
Review 26:Secure parking for 6 euros very good. Good breakfast.
Review 27:The beds, far too hard! The morning coffee.
Review 28:The location of the hotel couldn't be better. Easy access and close to the old town. Very good restaurant!
Review 29:Lack of information on how to access the car parking off site.....it would have helped to have been told that the card we were given was a contactless card. Inevitably we took a paper ticket which had our car reg on it and then we had to get the hotel to ring the car park to solve the problem when we should have been told how to use the card in the first place. Also the shower screen was not secured to the bath so as soon as we tried to use the bath and move the screen, the track fell off. It was obviously not secured properly and was not a surprise to the staff when we told them what had happened. This is not acceptable for any standard of hotel however reasonable the cost.
Review 30:Like the location and the friendly and helpful staff and this is our second stay here as it is local to where we live and useful when we want to enjoy late night functions.
Review 31:Bathroom was a bit tired looking
Review 32:Staff were helpful& nice bar joining on to hotel 10 minute walk through streets to restaurants and bars lovely town really enjoyed
Review 33:Wifi did not work well in the room
Review 34:Linen, room and bathroom clean, helpful staff, excellent location close to bus station and 10-15 min walk to town. excellent value
Review 35:Hotel opposite Punic Wall and short walk to most attractions, also to bus and train stations - couldn't be more convenient. Clean, comfortable room; reasonably priced very good cafe on premises.
Review 36:Central location only a couple of hundred yards from the train & bus stations. And only a five minute walk into the centre of town. Clean and Comfortable room.
Review 37:The bathroom was smelly and very dated. We were on the first floor and the noise when the person in the next room moved in the bed could be heard in our room. Also when the people next door or on the floor above flushed the toilet or used the shower, every movement and noise could be heard. If you want to rest and sleep, I wouldn't recommend to stay there.
Review 38:The location was OK and the price for parking in the underground car park was reasonable.
Review 39:Poor wifi signal in room
Review 40:Friendly staff superb location only 2 minutes from train station easy walking distance to port castle and all other attractions
Review 41:Shame that the menu was the same all week. Fortunately for us we all enjoyed the choices so were able to opt for something different on each of the nights we stayed.
Review 42:Staff were very pleasant and we thoroughly enjoyed the food in the restaurant. Great location. Will definitely go again.
Review 43:No kettle in the room No english news channel on TV The restaurant was closed on Sunday and there is nowhere nearby to eat as a solo traveller.
Review 44:The size of the room and bathroom. The restaurant- had a lovely meal
Review 45:The parking was not in fact at the hotel, but near by, so not easy with the luggage. The room was extremely, bu extremely noisy and bad. It was near a road that starts to go up, paved with cubical stone and due to the fact that the window was not closing too well, we had the impression that the traffic was in our room. Especially when cars accelerate to go uphill...In addition to this, the smell in the room and bathroom was not pleasant at all. The neighborhood didn`t seem to be safe as well. So, for us, never again, thank you!
Review 46:The breakfast
Review 47:The room was cold, even for late September, we had to ask for a heater, which was provided.During the night we experienced the constant noise of what we presume was the air conditioning unit. Not the best room on this visit.
Review 48:The location is perfect and the staff friendly.
Review 49:minor glitch with WiFi in the room due to a weak signal. however no problem in the general areas. Compared to all the good points; this was really minor
Review 50:Friendly staff, humongous room overlooking the uni, excellent central location, secure car park adjacent and a breakfast buffet that filled us up for the next leg of our trip. I would rate this more than three stars compared to some I have visited in France. We will definitely stay again when in Cartagena.
Review 51:We chose a bargain room so had no view or balcony, but everything else made up for it. We were there for the Parades and the Romans marched straight past the Hotel.!
Review 52:The helpfulness of the staff was fabulous. Beds very comfy, and a nice quiet room. Free wifi helped too.
Review 53:Reception staff not very friendly, no view from the room, basic rooms, no English television not even news channel and internet reception poor
Review 54:Location good
Review 55:No tea or coffee facilities in room plus no bath either
Review 56:staff v Good hotel clean rooms good breakfast satisfactory no hot food unless you asked for it
Review 57:Nada
Review 58:Friendly staff and excellent food espically the Tapas. The location was right in the heart of the old town where we spent many happy hours exploring the Roman history of Cartagena.
Review 59:The air conditioning barely worked and the parking was across a very busy intersection and required a circuitous walk to access.
Review 60:Not bad for the money. Close to some of the more interesting things to see in Cartagena.
Review 61:Man at front desk did not make the effort to speak English until we pleaded him to do so.
Review 62:Very good breakfast buffet. Easy parking in front of the hotel. Good location.
Review 63:Unclear signage for fire escape route The window was not fixed in my room properly No restraints for children once window open definitely not suited to a family stay with young children. Unclean room with cig marks and no AC
Review 64:Breakfast was superb and staff very helpful and friendly even let me park the following day so we could explore
Review 65:Wi-Fi a bit iffy. We ate in the dining room on the first night, food excellent, so much so, that on our second night, which was our Anniversary, we decided not to go out and ate in the hotel again, I had to complain about our meal as it was nothing like as good as the previous nights. Was told it was a different chef. Very disappointed. The jaccuzi bath was hard to get in for older people, very high side and no steps.
Review 66:Very helpful staff throughout. Nice big room.Very clean. We were treated to a nice bottle of red wine by the staff on our last night, as they somehow found out it was our anniversary. Plenty of choice at breakfast.
Review 67:Beds were a little on the firm side and a mattress topper would have made it more comfortable.
Review 68:Staff so friendly and welcoming. Food was of a high standard. We were lucky to have a balcony room which we liked very much.
Review 69:Restricted (but secure) parking bit of a walk from the hotel if unlucky.
Review 70:Clean, modern; even on busy road double glazing did its job. Nice veranda and also adjacent to tourist information office.
Review 71:there is no any activity in the town on august for the young people or for the people in the middle age i which it make very boring .
Review 72:the staff were very helpful and kind.the location was excellent everything was close
Review 73:Ended up exchanging our room due to not getting the bed preference from the Booking we wanted. There was no problem with this exchange but just because there were other free rooms, otherwise we would not get what we wanted. So if you are as picky as me insist on their confirmation directly.
Review 74:Hotel has a very central position, and public parking was at an easy reach. Good value for the money.
Review 75:Better would be free parking. We paid 6 EUR for a day. Cartagena is a little bit destroyed city.
Review 76:Nice location close to citycenter. Helpfull staff with excellent english. Hotel is very nice and clean, nothing to complaint about. As we vere in the 5th floor, noise from the street was not so loud.
Review 77:The hotel is a good 10 minute walk from the Plaza Ayuntimento and the Calle Mayor along a badly lit, somewhat shabby, street though, to be fair, the view from the front of the hotel to the Punic Wall Museum and the Polytechnic is quite impressive. The TV in our room did not work.
Review 78:This is a basic 3 star hotel. It is good value for its price. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a nice bar but, unfortunately, it was largely empty when we were there.
Review 79:Everything closed down at midnight Lights were on a timer so you couldn't sit at the outside bar after midnight
Review 80:Rooms were good and a decent size and clean
Review 81:I should have requested a non smoking room as there was a slight stale smell of smoke in the room but it wasn't overwhelming.
Review 82:Location and friendly staff.
Review 83:We are more than pleased over our stay at hotel Los Habaneros. Everything is briliant, the whole buildings style outside and inside, the frecsh big hotelroom and the mig windows. Fantastic hotel with atmosphere!
Review 84:TV didn't work, but not that important. No family room, had to take two twin rooms.
Review 85:Really close to train & bus stations. Quiet location near to main sights. Good wifi.
Review 86:Not really a bad experience but would say that the area did not look the best but we did feel safe - the air conditioning did not really work well so at 32C all night we did not sleep well.
Review 87:Location was very good - short walk to the old centre and harbour front and restaurants - felt very safe walking late in the evening from the downtown. Lobby looked impressive for the price - parking available that was safe but looked a little sketchy!
Review 88:Terrible wifi connection, available not in all rooms. Door to the toilet was almost broken.. Air conditioner blew just to my bed.. There weren't safe in the room.. Room also didn't contain hair-dryer.. There were often spoiled fruits and juices on breakfasts from the previous day.. And location is just near the 'prostitutes road'.. XD It was scary to come back from the city-centre at night
Review 89:Nice stuff always ready to help
Review 90:It is our fourth visit to this hotel so we must like it. A number of our friends also use this hotel for short stays. It is ideally placed to visit all of the major landmarks around Cartagena and within easy walking distance. It is well placed and in easy reach of the main bars and restaurants and, for those who don't want to walk, it has it's own bar and restaurant serving good quality food. It is also very reasonably priced. The hotel is easy to locate being only a short drive from the motorway or a short walk from the railway station and the bus station.
Review 91:We were a little disappointed with our meal on the last night - the menu had changed but although there was choice the meal didn't quite come up to the exceptional meal we had on the first night.
Review 92:Location, friendliness and helpful staff. Room spacious and clean with efficient air conditioning and good view. We loved the presentation and quality of our meal on the first night night. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Cartagena which is a fantastic city. Hotel within view of station just 5 minutes away.
Review 93:Unwelcoming miserable staff poor cleaning standards room card never functioned without issue hairs all over the room unless your on car the city is not worth visiting
Review 94:Nice tapas bar in the restaurant
Review 95:WiFi was 'limited' so unable to get onto the internet, every time.
Review 96:Great location, near bus and train stations - and handy for all the local attractions.
Review 97:Its a little dated, the decor is a bit dark especially in the dining areas. Tea/Coffee facilities in the room would have been nice.
Review 98:Loved the quiet, calm, air conditioned atmosphere of the hotel. A big room which was quite spacious for three and large bathroom.
Review 99:The area had some people constantly asking for money at any opportunity and some of these people were outside the hotel.
Review 100:Lots of places to park the car. Nice atmosphere and easy access to the centre by foot. Staff were kind and helpful and room was perfect. Good value for money.
Review 101:D was small, hard and water deipped all night in the toilet, also air con could, not be controlled
Review 102:Wexcellent staff, excellent location two minutes to the bus station five minutes to the city etc, wifi fast
Review 103:I had requested a room away from the elevators and located high level. I was allocated a room beside the elevators and 2nd level. As I work in hotels myself, I understand special requests are not guaranteed however when I went back to the front desk they were Able to change my room and confirmed that the hotel wasn't sold out out
Review 104:Well located
Review 105:We got a room at the third floor where we had a bad smell from the airco from teh beginning. When we complained we got another room with te meaasage tha the airco wasn't good functioning at the third floor. Peolple who didn't complained stayed at the third floor.. The staff didn't help us at all.
Review 106:The place of the hotel is ok
Review 107:no tea making facilities in room no fridge in room funny smell in bar area
Review 108:easy access to port and bars
Review 109:Room lacked a fridge. Area around hotel felt a little rough. Lot of police sirens and people didn't look so friendly. Lot of rubbish going up the hill behind the hotel. Terraced area in the higher floor of the hotel overlooks a roof full of garbage. Hard to join wifi for some reason.
Review 110:Very good meal at restaurant + staff friendly.
Review 111:A/C in room wasn't working although reception arranged for it to be repaired & assured that it was.Very hot night!!
Review 112:Value for money & centrally located. Staff very good & so friendly
Review 113:The bed was a little hard for my liking and the aircon wasn't working efficiently. But the staff did say if I'd told them they'd have sent an engineer.
Review 114:Friendly, polite, helpful staff in all areas of hotel. The evening dinner menu was fabulous and such good value for money. The chef is given free reign in the kitchen and produces fine dinning at its best. I wish we lived nearer just to work through his menu!
Review 115:The hotel is a bit run down and aged; the lobby area could easily improve with a few inexpensive pieces of (modern) furniture.
Review 116:The location of the hotel - walking distance to the inner city and very authentic, friendly neighbourhood bars for breakfast etc.(e.g. Bar Tana at Plaza de la Merced) We had a great room facing the front, loved the french windows. Friendly and very helpful staff.
Review 117:We got off the train in Cartagena and as we always do, we got a cab. Not speaking Spanish and not knowing exactly where we were going it usually helps. We got laughed at. This hotel is literally 2 minutes from the station--walking. The hotel is clean and reminiscent of 1950s Havanna. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The breakfasts are excellent. In addition, we were close to everything we wanted to see.
Review 118:No external window in the room was a bit depressing though made for a quiet stay.
Review 119:Very friendly and helpful staff , great breakfasts. The ideal cafe nearby serves excellent, low priced local meals, much better than the poor, high priced places at the waterfront.
Review 120:Close for a walk around the city wall and for the lift up to the castle. The staff are all friendly and informative. A decent size room with good air con. Liked everything.
Review 121:We arrived on a Sunday afternoon. There were lots of vagrants around we walked through very run down areas in order to get to the restaurants. We didn't feel safe.
Review 122:People are so important; most show willing, go the extra mile; occasionally one shows reluctance, doesn't met you halfway but it reduces the quality of your stay
Review 123:It's all in the headline
Review 124:Sometimes the WiFi connection was a little bit sketchy. The breakfast could have more variety and was too much biased toward sweets. The reception personnel could be a little more friendly also. On the day of check-out, the receptionist was less friendly than someone's normally considers a standard for hotels.
Review 125:Easy to arrive by car and well located to visit the city and a short walk from UPCT (The reason for the stay was a Conference). Although the car parking was off-site and at a short walking distance on a nearby avenue, the daily price was fair. Great price for the available services.
Review 126:We were on the top floor, and unfortunately the wifi signal was too weak in our room to be able to use the internet.
Review 127:We had a large, spacious room with a terrace, which was lovely.
Review 128:Wi-fi was intermittent at best - staff seemed not to care much and responded, "it's been really good for the last month."
Review 129:Proximity to the bus station
Review 130:Asked on booking for two rooms together and were offered on arrival rooms on separate floors with no offer of alternative. Very little information given at desk on tourism in area - had to go to Information Office opposite, which didn't open until 10.00, which was a bit late
Review 131:Cartagena is incredible and hotel in good area
Review 132:First impression of location was not good but it soon shifted. Some noise from road and local residents late at night.
Review 133:Walking by several routes down to harbour brought interest. The a la carte food was superb.
Review 134:It was a realy old hotel with very old teste in furniture. Bathtub/jacuzzi was very old and dirty.
Review 135:The room they have given us in the first place was smelling cigarette and staff has changed it without questioning. Second room on the 5th floor had a balcony and a nice view.
Review 136:The car parking facility is not attached to the hotel. The hotel has allocated spaces in a secure underground car park some 200 metres away. Not a major problem just not what was expected from the hotel website.
Review 137:Easy to find. The hotel is a short walk from the main tourist attractions.
Review 138:The room was lovely, but it had a really, really strong drain smell. Bad enough that you couldn't sleep. I covered all the bathroom drain holes with towels etc to try and block the smell. Only stayed one night.
Review 139:Great location, good price, English spoken at reception.
Review 140:Stairs from elevator to some rooms on first floor maybe a problem for some one with heavy bags.
Review 141:Very good meal in restaurant and discounted for guest in hotel!
Review 142:You have to walk through the old part of town if you want to eat out, but once past the Plazas its fine, so at night don't wear expensive jewellery on show.
Review 143:Parking outside
