Reviews for Schloss Eberstein
Review 1:Service felt rather impersonal and the hotel and restaurant were extremely quiet when we visited, which was a bit uncomfortable.
Review 2:Lovely setting, everything very clean and efficient, two restaurants both good.
Review 3:Unfortunately there isn't much around the castle, could imagine that its busier on weekends. Also there was a four poster bed but two single mattresses and duvets?
Review 4:Beautiful castle and grounds.
Review 5:Parking around the property is a little tight.
Review 6:Amazing castle location with brilliant views over the Black Forest. Room was very clean, well-furnished and incredibly comfortable. The rooms also have air con which is somewhat of a rarity in Europe. Staff were friendly and included breakfast was also excellent.
Review 7:This is advertised as a "castle", but it really just feels like a nice hotel. No turrets or ramparts to explore here, and most of the decent parts of the property are closed to guests (the family that owns the place lives on the premises.
Review 8:This hotel is at the top of a high hill overlooking a Bavarian valley. It has a great view, and the beer garden is in a location to take advantage of the view. There is a Michelin 1-star restaurant at the hotel, but reserve a table at the time you book your stay or you won't get in. Don't feel bad if you "have" to eat at the beer garden...it was one of our best meals in Europe!!
Review 9:Better communication on road closures. It was difficult the day we arrived due to one road being closed and the only other road closed for a road race.
Review 10:Rooms were lovely and very quiet. Food was very good!
Review 11:I was on vacation with my 30-year old daughter. We both enjoy some night-life and some music or other entertainment. It took a long time to reach this out-of-the way place by train and there was little or nothing to do. Because we realized we did not want this experience, we skipped going to the next castle in our itinerary. Too isolated. It would be great for a romantic weekend but we were not right for this place.
Review 12:I liked the unique sense of staying in an ancient castle. The views were great and the food good. It was very clean and the WiFi worked smoothly and fast. Friendly owners and nice staff.
Review 13:This is my favorite & best hotel during my two weeks' trip in South Germany, a castle at the top of the small moutain. The evironment is just "Wow~~~". Everything is so amazing, especially the restaurant outdoor tables, you can sit there to look down the amazing view of the whole town and the vineyard. The room is so good, very clean and big, can also enjoy the view. Like the bed and the bathroom. This hotel in near to Baden-Baden. We should have stay here for more nights. Next time must stay here again.
Review 14:Unfortunately the WiFi did not work...
Review 15:Excellent location, very nice room with a good bed and amazing view. Breakfast was excellent - as was the staff. Overall a very pleasant experience.
Review 16:Front desk hard to find. Our bed was two singles put together--not very comfortable. The casual restaurant was hard to find and the menu hard to translate. Overall--overpriced
Review 17:Very nicely kept. Lovely views.
Review 18:I was originally attracted to the property because of it's history as a castle and the amazing exterior photos show on the website, but once we arrived, we found the most comfortable and beautifully appointed rooms of our eight nights in different hotel trip. The property is positioned a few miles up a mountain road with amazing views of the valley and village below. This stop came mid week on a trip that started and returned at Frankfurt and looped down past Bavaria and into Salzburg and then back. With every other night spent in city centers, this was a perfect and relaxing break in completely peaceful surroundings. After our early dinner in the small village below the town, my wife and I decided on a whim to drive to and explore nearby Strasbourg. Other then a few slightly frustrating minutes driving in the center of pedestrian Strasbourg, it turned out to be an amazing evening destination (even on a week night). I would imagine that this hotel dose a lot of weekend wedding and event business, but if you get the chance to spend a weeknight here, you will not regret it. The morning continental breakfast was the most amazing I think I've seen anywhere. If you have the time I also highly recommend the hour drive over to Strasbourg.
Review 19:* no wifi (very poor connection from the lobby and no connection at all in the room) * restaurant (not with the Michelin-star) is below expectations: untasty food and no service at all (the waitress just left us alone in the room, we had to leave her a notice that he could charge the dinner on our room number.
Review 20:* beautiful design * very modern and up to day facilities (i.e. shower cabin with steam function) * great location with n amazing view down on the town * great breakfast (one of the best I had in the hotels)
Review 21:This hotel has a gorgeous view of the vineyards and valley below . The rooms are very well decorated and the staff welcoming and accosting. They also included a very delicious breakfast
Review 22:Nothing.
Review 23:It was our second stay and didn't disappoint, gorgeous hotel in beautiful setting. Quality hotel, staff friendly and helpful and the breakfast was delicious. lovely woodland walk down into nearly Gernsbach. The shower was amazing. Plenty of parking.
Review 24:The four poster bed, large room, and remoteness
Review 25:Food, location, personal ... everything.
Review 26:Excellent breakfast, lovely views
Review 27:Nice hotel with outstanding views of the valley
Review 28:Little warm in room.
Review 29:Great breakfast.
Review 30:The Wifi signal was weak and the internet was a little bit slow
Review 31:The room was clean and tidy and the setting was excellent
Review 32:one of the waiting staff seemed to be in a hurry to go home saying the kitchen closed at 21.30 when we asked for the dessert menu at 21.15.
Review 33:Nothing
Review 34:Everything
Review 35:Pillows were fairly useless. Price was high for the off season.
Review 36:Hiking paths, breakfast, modern rooms.
Review 37:I think this would be a beautiful spot for a wedding - beautiful facility and beautiful location.
Review 38:Fantastic environment and super accomodation. Great breakfast.
Review 39:The sight from my room 14 was not so nice
Review 40:Almost all, super Hotel!
Review 41:fabulous view, very friendly staff, excellent food
Review 42:No A/C in our room
Review 43:Free Parking Great Restaurant Friendly Staff Great Breakfast
Review 44:Food was amazing and wonderful views from the castle of the surrounding areas
Review 45:Kind of disappointed. More like a luxury hotel than a "castle." The actual castle was actually inaccessible, so no exploring to be done really. We ended up spending very little time there; drove to nearby locations to sight see.
Review 46:A renovated castle/building. Very high touch/classy. Nice views of the surrounding valleys. Friendly staff, clean, etc.
Review 47:We were unable to get a table for dinner even though we were guests of the hotel. There was only 1 table available in the over priced Gourmet Restaurant. We had room service instead. Very disappointing!
Review 48:It only had a few rooms, was very comfortable and quiet. The food in the Schloss Schanke was quite nice too.
Review 49:You have to drive if you want to go anywhere. But the peaceful location is lovely.
Review 50:Schloss Eberstein is in a beautiful location overlooking the vineyards and the village below. It is isolated but only a short drive from Baden Baden. There are very nice walks outside the door. The Schloss Shaenke provides good food at reasonable prices.
Review 51:This Hotel is something special in this area.A castle on the top of a hill, very quiet, and comfortable. The staff is extremely helpful, the food is amazing, more than recommended to every traveller.
Review 52:Large luxurious bathroom with shower/sauna. Very comfortable bed and pillows. The best quality and variety of breakfast buffet we have found in any hotel so far !
Review 53:We would have liked a clarification that a separate reservation was needed to dine in the gourmet restaurant. We were quite lucky, though, because both restaurants were available (it was a Sunday evening). We did not like at all that the responsible in the gourmet restaurant - depsite there being free tables and despite us having dressed up - had the indecency to tell us to use the down stairs restaurant as his was "a high class" restaurant". He broke the spell of the evening - but ok we saved a lot of money and had a very good meal down stairs, where the staff was super friendly - but I doubt that we will come back for another humiliation.
Review 54:We loved the location, the view and the shower in the bathroom.
Review 55:What a beautiful place to stay! The room was perfect. Sauna/shower combo, robes & slippers, chocolates on the pillow. Very cozy & well decorated. The food was great, even down to the included breakfast (my made-to-order medium boiled egg was served on a silver platter!).
Review 56:Lovely, large room with all the modern amenities in a lovely and well-renovated castle. Nice, isolated hilltop location along a forest road with great views over rivers, vineyards and nearby towns. Acclaimed but pricey gourmet restaurant, also a reasonably priced dining pub. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Review 57:Love love loved this Castle Hotel. Our room was pure luxury and loved the bathrobes and the shower with views across the valley. The bed and linen was very comfortable and the staff helpful. We also had dinner in the restaurant (not the michelin star one) and it was lovely and great value. The breakfast included with the room was fantastic and loved that they provided free fruit throughout the hotel. There is also a small winery that provides wine tasting in the Castle. The staff there we lovely and provided us with lots of samples and information on the wines produced there.
Review 58:The hotel is a beautiful castle with a gastronomic restaurant, locatedon the hill overlooking the village with two great hiking trails thatstart right outside of the main entrance. We stayed with our dogs forone night (Euro 10/dog/night), and enjoyed it. The parking is aplenty,WiFi signal is strong and accessible, breakfast quite good and includeseggs, bircher muesli, etc., enough to make one happy for sure.
Review 59:Overall excellent, but note that the hotel restaurants (there are 2 )are closed Sunday Monday Tuesday over the winter and only the smallerone is open on Wednesdays. Rooms quite small for the price, but thenagain it only has a few rooms altogether
Review 60:A very sweet small and romantic hotel. Excellent breafast. Walkingstraight from hte door.
