Reviews for Grand Hotel de la Gare
Review 1:City centre location opposite main train station. Street parking nearby. Short walk into main city centre, approximately 15 minutes or so from bars and restaurants.
Review 2:The room is clean but furniture and facilities are very basic - acceptable but could be much better is renovated. Very noisy bar nearby - pay attention if you travel on weekend. The lift is available only from the 1st floor - not convenient with heavy luggage or for disabled persons.
Review 3:Location - just across the street from the station and close to all attractions. Nice brasserie in the same building. Actually a good option for Angers.
Review 4:the wifi was not working well in the hotel rooms but downstairs in the breakfast room and reception it worked well.
Review 5:the staff, the location, the breakfast, the brasserie in front of the hotel.
Review 6:The room was quite small - but I only used the hotel to sleep, so didn't mind. The elevator doesn't reach the ground floor, so take into account that you will have to carry your luggage on the stairs.
Review 7:The hotel was perfectly situated - a short walking distance from the train station, and a reasonable walking distance (~20 minutes) from downtown. The city's main tram line is also accessible. The room was very clean, and had good wifi reception. Breakfast was decent.
Review 8:Access to the elevator was not on the ground floor; it was necessary to walk up to the first floor.
Review 9:The English speaking staff were very helpful. I chose this hotel because it's located near the train station, and since my train left much later than checkout time, they allowed me to stay without additional charge. The room was clean and quiet.
Review 10:no private or at least discounted parking. very basic (and impractical) bathroom facilities (no soap for washbasin, no shampoo in shower). Cleanliness of carpet very doubtful
Review 11:Ideally located right in front of the train station. Check-in/out quick and easy. affordable when you're on a tight budget but still need the convenience of a décent hôtel near transports.
Review 12:Noisy square outside - we 've heard the algerians celebrating for all night long
Review 13:Very nice people on the reception - helped us a lot with parking, kitchen utencils and so on
Review 14:Not worth 3 stars
Review 15:The interior decorations and the excellent location
Review 16:Nothing
Review 17:Location, .fiendly staff , nice restaurant adjacent to hotel. Close to station
Review 18:Awful decor, small rooms, generally run down feel. No more than 1 night advisable
Review 19:Good location - opposite station , 5ons to town
Review 20:Location near SNCF station Good simple brasseries nearby Comfortable rooms and bed
Review 21:Wifi not always available.
Review 22:Friendliness of staff and convenience of location.
Review 23:I liked most the comfort and the location of this hotel.
Review 24:Stairs till the first floor for lift makes difficult to take Big Luggages
Review 25:No bad experience.
Review 26:Location. Perfect. Very friendly staff. Hotel itself quite fresh and adequate as was breakfast.
Review 27:Convenient, comfortable and helpful staff. Great breakfast.
Review 28:Picture misrepresents hotel. Facade disguises the fact the the entrance is through a small door. Rooms tiny. Bistro not actually connected with the hotel.
Review 29:Central location
Review 30:I stayed at the hotel after a weeks cycling holiday. It was my 6th hotel in 7 days and by far the worst. I felt it was more of an overpriced DIY hostel for single silent people than a holidaymaker. During my 3 day stay I had to go to bed during the day to stay warm. Receptionist agreed the rooms were cold and the heating wasn't on which explained why the rooms were cold (duh!) Another receptionist declined to help me with my language difficulties by phoning for someone to sort out my aches and pains from cycling. It is a lonely hotel - no human interaction on offer - except from an uncooperative receptionist. breakfast is serve yourself stale bread and old cold meat with plastic trays and that sets the tone. For a 1 night stay it could work if you didn't want any hotel services. If you have heavy luggage note that you need to carry your bags up to the 1st floor - where the lift is located.
Review 31:The location was ideal.
Review 32:It was very disappointing. Expensive rooms with low quality. No curtain, the floor was sloping. If I put an apple into a corner it rolled accross the room. Internet was not working in the rooms and the breakfast was poor. I am not recommend it to anyone!
Review 33:Room was a bit small Stairs outside the room creaked and made a noise when people walked on them because they were wooden and had no carpets
Review 34:Location Helpful reception staff
Review 35:Having to lift big case up staircase to lift, being senior citizens would be better if lift started from ground floor, but everything else Excellent.
Review 36:Location to Station and to city Center . and would return again. and will recommend the Hotel to family and friends .
Review 37:Great staff, very relaxed hotel, very clean and tidy, superb shower and generally liked the atmosphere, good selection of cafes and restaurants, and bars all close by, and the railway station is directly over the road, would definitely stay there again.
Review 38:The décor was a bit tacky, but this is a minor problem. I also thoughtit was quite expensive for what was provided, which was a basic - veryacceptable, but non-luxurious - service. I have paid less for hotels injust as good a location in other French cities.
Review 39:The location - right above a brasserie and right opposite the mainrailway station - which was why I picked it for this business trip.
Review 40:Nothing! I've tried hard to think of something but I can't !!!
Review 41:We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The staff speak English aswell so this was helpful. The rooms are lovely, very clean with modern shower rooms. We had a superior room and it was worth that little extra. The beds are very comfortable. We had the breakfast at the hotel and there was a large variety of food and drinks to help yourself, very relaxing with a choice of newspapers to choose from. The reception area is covered 24 hours aday. The location is the best. It is over the road from the train station and in walking distance to all the best shops, cafes, restaurants and places to see. I will return to this Hotel if I am fortunate enough to be in Angres in the new year. I would recommend this hotel.
Review 42:Security system was strange. We had to hand our keys to the receptionist whenever we exit the hotel and ask for our keys when we come back in. Sometimes there would be no one at the desk to man the cabinet full of everyone's keys. Also, there is no lift from ground floor to first floor (2 long flights of stairs). I had to drag my luggage up myself, no staff assistance. My room had a restaurant chimney outside my window, so it smelled like food all the time. Also heard lots of cluttering of plates and cutlery.
Review 43:The bathroom was immaculate. Newly renovated and very well lit. Room was well equipped with everything you need, tidy and well kept.
Review 44:room allocated on top floor and as in roof space subject to heat variations . overlooked main station which was very noisy with windows open at all times , including night. Glass doors on bathroom , no privacy , hand held shower , no shower curtains
Review 45:it is centrally positioned and near by has many facilities , bars , restaurants
Review 46:Location good for the railway station. It is central too.Largely a 2 star hotel that is convenient and a fair rate for what it is. Breakfast was good.
Review 47:It was noisy with the window open, but very quiet otherwise.
Review 48:Great location right across from the train station and 10-15 minute walkto the center of Angers. People at the reception were all very nice andhelpful and all spoke some English. Lots of good places to eat nearby.Comfortable beds, great shower, very clean.
Review 49:I know its very English but to have tea and coffee making facilities would make the hotel complete in its homeliness.
Review 50:Great central location very friendly and helpful staff good working lift and comfortable room.
Review 51:Booked a 'superior double room' and paid the price for it, but room wasextremely small with two little single beds and not much space in roomat all, asked the staff member at the reception and he said 'rooms inFrench hotels are small' but I still think the room did not reflect thedescription given when booking was made.
