Reviews for Hotel Am Schloss
Review 1:Lovely hotel with accommodating staff. Meals at the restaurant were excellent. Close enough to old town for easy access, but no problem with noise or crowds. Very pleasant stay.
Review 2:Only thing to comment on would be the fact that on the booking.com hotel page and confirmation it stated check out at was 11am but after wondering why the cleaning lady was quite insistent to get in the room did we find out it states at reception that it's 10.30am. Something needs updating....??
Review 3:Second time at this hotel. Staff all really friendly had a lovely room in the annex across the road.
Review 4:A bit difficult to find the right way up to the hotel; but of course, no-one is to blame, when you want to stay in the centre of a large, old town/city. And with help from GPS, it worked.
Review 5:Splendid hotel, close to the Castle, overlooking the old well preserved city of Tübingen. The staff assisted well in finding a parking place and park the car. Also good breakfast.
Review 6:nothing
Review 7:Excellent location - right next to the castle and a couple of minutes walk to the main square. Rooms clean, spacious and really comfortable. The food in the restaurant was the best food i had during my week stay in germany really really good
Review 8:carpets on the floor - but this is due to my allergy. I would book here again though
Review 9:really nice breakfast, friendly staff it is hard to park your car in front of the hotel, however, if you hand over your car keys to the staff, they will take care of it.
Review 10:This is our second visit to Tubingen and we stayed at this delightful hotel. This stay was as good or better then our first visit. The room was so comfortable, the service excellent, and the breakfast was superb. It felt like staying with family and we will stay there again, should we go back to Tubingen.
Review 11:This hotel situated next to the castle in Tubingen, has comanding views over the town. As with most tourist areas, parking is at a premium, it is therefore necassary to book parking in advance. We received a very warm welcome and were shown to our fantastic room. Nothing and I do mean nothing was wanting in the room. Although it didn't have air conditioning, it did have a powerful oscillation fan which was welcome as the temperatrure was in the high 30's. This is a fabulous hotel with a dedicated caring team to look after you. We had dinner on the veranda and were treated to some amazing food and wine. Breakfast was again, more than adequate. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel or making a return visit.
Review 12:Bed is two twin mattresses on separate supports, they kept moving away from each other.
Review 13:Great location on the top of the old city. Charming interior, modern updates
Review 14:Front desk gets the job done but with a little more German superiority complex than necessary. Gemütlichkeit comes from the surroundings, not the staff.
Review 15:Location, the restaurant and of course, the view. First stayed at this hotel 43 years ago. Have been back several times.
Review 16:The Hotel did not have an AC so when we entered the room it was very warm in there. However we could open the windows in both the Room and Bathroom to get it cold quite quickly.
Review 17:The Hotel is very good located and very clean. We had a spacious room with a newly renovated bathroom that was very nice. The breakfast is amazing.
Review 18:It did not affect me, but there is not lift and many flights to take for upper rooms - but the view is great. Also, not the hotels fault, but we caught a very hot week; without air conditioning room was very warm until well into the evening.
Review 19:Excellent location. One of our favorite breakfasts in Germany.
Review 20:Expensive - but you get what you pay for.
Review 21:Lovely old building in wonderful location. Very comfortable, tastefully decorated room. Excellent breakfast. Quiet guest terrace to sit out on.
Review 22:No elevator and no air condition. Steep staircase and a "air cooling" device that is only a joke (and rather making matters worse). But you do not visit Germany often during a major heat wave. Also do not be duped by the map: the distance from the station is not far, but dragging your trolly over cobble stones and up stairs is not that easy. Plan for a longer walk. I got lucky though: a pretty young gentleman calling himself the heir of Hegel carried my suitcase next to the Tübinger stift (which is right below the hotel).
Review 23:It is an old house, that is both the best and the worst about it. I had a small chamber, but for a single that is normal. The location is splendid, as is the kitchen and the dining on the terasse overlooking the old roof tops of old Tübingen. It is not a young place though ... elderly well to-do middle class couples and groups prevail.
Review 24:Noise from restaurant across the street and from people going to and from castle. Would not be a problem in cool weather because windows were really sound proof.
Review 25:Great location. Very hot and noisy early so closed windows which really blocked out the noise. Lovely outside breakfast area.
Review 26:Not a bad experience but the bed was to soft for me. Probably suit other people.
Review 27:The location is great, almost next to the castle. Our room was large and airy with good views. The bathroom was large with modern facilities. The breakfast had a really good selection. Last but not least the staff were really friendly and helpful and good fun.
Review 28:The 3rd floor room even if I requested for a lower floor many months before. Also the noise from restaurant next door.
Review 29:Breakfast although the coffee was lukewarm at best.
Review 30:We loved the fact that the inn is right next to the castle and just up the hill from shops and restaurants. Dinner on the terrace was amazing and breakfast in the charming dining room was also very good.
Review 31:Upon arrival the hotel did not know anything about my reservation. Although they still had an available room, since I was travelling on business this was very concerning and set a bad tone for the entire stay.
Review 32:none.
Review 33:This hotel is right next to the castle museum on the hilltop, overlooking the historical center of Tubingen. The view was great. The location is perfect: a few steps down the hill (2 minutes) is the Rathaus plaza. We were in town on a Sunday, when the market was bustling. The streets were filled with people, but around the hotel it was very quiet. Parking is right in front of the hotel. Our room was beautifully decorated, with a feeling of a noble chamber. The restaurant seemed very nice too, but we didn't eat there - too much food in the market already! This is the perfect hotel for visiting Tubingen.
Review 34:There isn't an elevator in the hotel,it's not convenient .and the stair is narrow.
Review 35:the service is perfect and staffs are friendly and helpful.and it's location is perfect ,just in the old town area, close to the palace.
Review 36:The staff was extremely friendly and polite. Parking was easy and conveniently located next to the hotel, and the hotel was in an ideal location - great views!
Review 37:The hotel is charming yet it could use a little bit of an update in it's furniture and fixtures within the room. The beds were comfortable enough. It was a good value for the price and we really appreciated the flexibility of a late check out.
Review 38:The location was great. We stayed during the Chocolate art festival in the town center only a few blocks away. They allowed us a very late check out which as very much appreciated since we were there to run a half marathon race and needed the shower facility quite a bit after check out.
Review 39:It would be great to have an elevator, just because we had a child with a broken leg. But it wasn't a big matter at all.
Review 40:We were travelling with 2 children (1 baby and 1 child with a broken leg). We were undecided to book this hotel because of other comments about parking place and no elevator. Well it wasn't a problem at all. Spacious and very nice room, great bath, new forniture, good internet connection, parking place in front of the hotel. Not so difficult to be found and reached if you ask anybody. Very helpfull staff. Georgeus breackfast and restaurant. I hope to come back again.
Review 41:Only that there were no elevator, so if you are travelling with heavy luggage ask for a room in the groundfloor.
Review 42:All the staff was very nice and friendly. Lovely ancient building with renovated interior, so comfortable rooms and modern bathroom as well. Excellent location close to downtown and a few minutes walking from the train station. Excellent free wifi
Review 43:Very bad wifi signal - considering the price of the place, they should be able to provide better wifi. The staff knew about the problem, but seemed unable to correct it. Expensive, like every accommodation in Tuebingen
Review 44:Lovely accommodations in the heart of historic Tuebingen. Nice restaurant, friendly staff.
Review 45:70 stairs to our room, but we needed the exercise after a fine dinner. I really can't except the negative reviews on this site. It's not the four seasons, but it is full of old world charm.
Review 46:The location right next to the castle and the great views. We stayed in the top floor attic room with views all around. Restaurant is good. Staff very helpful. It is really not that hard to find and the narrow road for the last 100 ft. Is easy.
Review 47:Driving into the city and locating the hotel was nearly impossible--we also had a really difficult time in a manual shift car driving up the incredibly steep and narrow road to the hotel. Parking was a nightmare.
Review 48:Friendliness of staff, location in old town, excellent. Lovely restaurant with good breakfasts every day. And the wonderful castle with the very best view of the entire city was just steps from the hotel.
Review 49:We had the top room and the view was lovely. The hotel is a nice blend of old and new, with a restaurant that served a wonderful breakfast with seating outdoors on the terrace . The staff were friendly and helpful, and parking close by was a real bonus.
Review 50:We were set in a "dependance" not in the main building. Room at third floor without lift. Rooms are meant to be no-smoking but some customers seem not to care and do smoke in the room. Unpleasent. The way by car to the hotel is more likely to a one-way street but it's not, it's a pretty small and eng way, it's not very well signed on maps and difficult to be found. Hotel should better inform customers and advise on the way to be reached.
Review 51:The hotel is in the city center. Very quite. No smoking rooms. Very good and rich breakfast. The staff is very kind and helpfull. Parking at place arranged by staff.
Review 52:the hotel is at the top of a hill, a bit hard to walk with bags etc. from the train station etc. Also it may be confusing to find your way in the old city for the first time. the buildings don't have elevators, so it may be hard to carry heavy bags to rooms on 2nd-3rd floors. But all these "not liked" are minor things compared to the "liked" ones.
Review 53:Great location, in the middle of the old city, just next to the castle. The surrounding is quiet and peacefull. the breakfast is satisfactory and delicious. my room was in a renovated old building but very comfortable and quiet.
Review 54:The location on Bergsteige is wonderful.
Review 55:a charming nice small hotel in at the Burg in the historic centre of Tübingen in an old house
Review 56:The surroundings.
Review 57:Friendly staff, wonderful location in middle of historic Tuebingen
Review 58:Generally, nothing
Review 59:Specifically, everything.
Review 60:Price is quite too much - including extra payments for the bed, and breakfast.
Review 61:Good location and the room itself
Review 62:We had a nice large room with a wonderful view, the breakfast offered a nice choice and the staff was very friendly.
Review 63:Fantastic location and "true old Germany" rooms and building
Review 64:A bit hard to find, be ready for no elevator.
Review 65:Great location
Review 66:Nothing: all was fine!
Review 67:Room comfort, silent and calm place, wonderful breakfast
Review 68:Location, friendliness, FREE wifi
Review 69:A separate fee for Wi-Fi use.
Review 70:Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 71:Lack of free Wifi.
Review 72:Outside terrasse where we were served a wonderful lunch by friendly staff.
Review 73:Wonderful town, plenty to see.
Review 74:Breakfast was supposed to be included, yet we were charged for it at check-out.
Review 75:The hotel was very nice with large comfortable rooms.
Review 76:no lift to the upper floors of the guest house - may need to ask staff for help with your luggage
Review 77:lovely terrace for breakfast
Review 78:Pillows need to be updated - too flat.
Review 79:Food, location
Review 80:Nothing
Review 81:Charm
Review 82:No elevator or air conditioning.
Review 83:Beautiful location right next to the castle. Restaurant on the terrace was fantastic.
Review 84:Shower too small; bed too soft.
Review 85:Breakfast and location.
Review 86:Even though Tubingen was a stop mid-way between Freiburg and Rothenburg, we had a delightful visit and enjoyed the hospitality of the town.
Review 87:Everything was great
Review 88:It is a very nice hotel at an excellent location, the staff is great and wifi is free you don't have to pay for it.
Review 89:Excellent ervice Central location Great breakfast Proper linen and good feather pillows
Review 90:Finding street to go up to the hotel

Review 94:Carpet needs renewal as does the sofa

Review 96:The room The bathroom The view Easy walk into the old town

Review 99:Perfect location, very dedicated staff, great views, lovely balcony
Review 100:Bedrooms rather retro.
Review 101:Really nice staff and good restaurant located on terrace at the back. Excellent location.
Review 102:No airco, very old room on top floor, clean but full of flies that we had to kill ourselves...
Review 103:Location, restaurant terrasse
Review 104:Parking is challenging. But it is to be expected in an old Europeanvillage like Tubingen.
Review 105:The best location in Tubingen!
Review 106:It is a bit of a challenge driving up the steep, narrow street to the Hotel, but once at the front entrance, staff very helpful in parking the car for us. There are no real negatives about this Hotel.
Review 107:Fabulous Hotel up near the historic Schloss - now part of the Tubingen University. The Restaurant in the hotel was excellent specializing in traditional cuisine and it was the season for white asparagus! Our waiter was very friendly and helpful in translating some of the items on the menu into English.
Review 108:Was not a problem for me, but there is no elevator, 3 flights of stairs with a heavy suitcase to lug up and down. Hotel is also on top of a hill, if your in shape no problem. If your not you may want to take this into consideration
Review 109:Modern rooms, clean and comfortable. Bathroom very modern European. Staff is very friendly. Location as in the name is right next to the castle. The Hotel is also right in the center of town.
Review 110:Great location, friendly and helpful staff, and the hotel itself is a beautiful old historic building, right next to the castle and with a great view
Review 111:It's expensive to stay in Tübingen but it is also beautiful.
Review 112:It is right in the heart of beautiful Tübingen and you can really get the feel of the old town here. It is a very nice hotel, great breakfast and good all round I would say. It is priced on the higher side but not much more than the cheaper accommodation and worth it to be so central I would say.
Review 113:Everything met my expectations and the wlak up the hill was goodesercise!
Review 114:New clean and spacious bathroom, Free WiFi, good restaurant specialisingin traditional meals, helpful staff.
Review 115:Wonderful to stay in a historical building in the historical part of town near the castle. Staff were very responsive to email questions before I arrived.
Review 116:The double bed, had two separate single matrices, which is not very nice and comfortable. Also there is not a lot of free space in the room, but it has a big desk convenient for working if needed.
Review 117:Staff was pleasant and helpful, rooms very nicely decorated, and the bathroom also very nice. Breakfast was nice. The location was very convenient, just not easy to find without help, map or smartphone. Also the wifi was not charged even though they mention it is paid by the hour on the site.
Review 118:The room had the toilet "used" before we actually used it. The cleaning person was waiting for us to leave the room before 10 am. I was feeling rushed outside the hotel
Review 119:Location Breakfast
Review 120:A couple of things left behind were not found just a few hours later...stupid of me to forget, but too bad staff did not turn them in (earrings, a thermos) if found.
Review 121:Excellent service, friendly staff, delicious breakfast in dining room, comfortable room and private bathroom, proximity to the Schloss and old town. I would definitely stay there again.
Review 122:Friendliness, beautiful old building and lovely modern interiors. Large bathroom, super modern, large room with lovely outlook. We will be back.
Review 123:No lift and we had the top floor room which meant climbing 72 steps. However, the staff very kindly carried our luggage both up and down
Review 124:Lovely hotel and great location. Their restaurant was also very good.
Review 125:It was a little weird from a housekeeping point of view--when we got to our room, there were towels in various places on the floor.
Review 126:The staff was English-speaking and mostly nice. The room was very nice. The location is phenomenal--right off of the main square in the Old Town, and right next to the castle.
Review 127:We were told Wi-Fi was available, but it did not work after numerous attempts and assistance (basically the signal was so poor, it would not connect. The parking fee is ridiculous. Not happy with value received for money spent.
Review 128:Quaint village location
