Reviews for Hotel Port-Lligat
Review 1:No option to buy water or any drinks at night in the hotel .. A vending machine could be useful .
Review 2:Great location .. Nice view and calm area .. We got inspired too :) ... Easy to park
Review 3:This beautiful hotel is in serious need of some TLC. Everything just about works but is slightly shabby. Disappointing when you consider the hotel's fantastic history - it still has the potential to be a great hotel but needs a complete refit and redecoration. The staff are competent but seem demoralised. We would go again because of its wonderful situation but we hope for some new investment and management in the meantime.
Review 4:The location next door to the Dali House museum and facing the beautiful little harbour of Port Lligat is outstanding - especially if you have a room with a sea view - a really privileged position. The new restaurant has an excellent menu if a little pricy. The public rooms are generous, light and have excellent views - delightful to be in.
Review 5:Such a beautiful spot that was off the beaten track with great walks, bike rides and Dali's house a few steps away. Even more amazing history 20 minute walk away!
Review 6:No wifi in room you had to conduct personal communications in the lobby. Jacuzzi was either broken or cold. No fan or air conditioning. Everything was not included. There was not even shampoo or conditioner.
Review 7:Location and staff was sometimes helpful.
Review 8:Wifi was not available throughout the hotel only in lobby and bar. Also, front desk staff could have been more helpful. $11 breakfast was mediocre at best.
Review 9:Location and spectacular views.
Review 10:Knowing where I was going, the accommodation did not disappoint me, neither it impressed me. It is an old hotel with somewhat bored staff that does not really care about making your stay even a little more pleasing. They are not rude but at the same time they do not smile at you to make you feel welcome and asking about anything, they send you to a tourist office without even trying to provide you with at least some information. According to the comments, it seems the location is most appreciated by the guests, however, I would only recommend it if you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Cadaques with its restaurants, bars and the beach, potentially avoiding street noise. Portlligat is a sleepy hollow where there is literally nothing, so there is nothing to disturb you, nor there is anything to entertain you. It is situated just a few steps from the Dali´s house and the sea but that is it. And the little beach, full of boats does not seem like a place to go swimming. It is cute and charming and you will most certainly love it but I would still prefer the town centre next time. The hotel itself is quite old and could use some refurbishing - the room furniture was really worn out, bed small and matress not very comfortable. Although the bathroom was clean and surprisingly nice, the towels smelled bad as if they were not dried properly. The view from the window offered both lovely hilly countryside and the sea, but the blinds were broken. Even though there is not much noise from the outside, the building is typically Spanish, providing zero sound isolation, so the morning cleaning of other rooms and corridors will reliably wake you up. It is obvious the only thing to make you come here is the beauty of this hidden little gem on wonderful Costa Brava and the hotel is aware of that. Why bother if they always come?
Review 11:The odour of the chemical used for cleaning the room was overpowering so much we requested our room not be cleaned the next day.The Winds were ridiculous and the noise of rattling doors and window shutters made for sleepless nights. If I had known this we would have stayed in Cadaques.
Review 12:The Dali House and Museum and the town of Cadaques.
Review 13:cold eggs at breakfast poor selection rooms and balcony of room not clean many stairs bad news for mature couple staff gave very little help on area attractions
Review 14:pretty small harbor
Review 15:I was looking forward to the pool and the hot tub but due to the end of season it was not available, although the weather was divine and it would have been great to be in the hot tub at night.
Review 16:Great location. Simple rooms with some retro slightly old fashioned charm. Not modern but friendly and welcoming. Fine for the price. I liked the era of the place and it's feel.
Review 17:It will be obvious from my( what did you like?) comments that I wasn't impressed with the hotel. What can I say that hasn't already been said. The owners are obviously not concerned about the mostly negative comments made about the hotel and must be happy to provide second rate service, knowing that they are able to procure custom based purely on the fame and closeness of Salvador Dalis house. I did feel sorry for the receptionist, whilst not unpleasant she was obviously under pressure and was seen doing other tasks including room tidying and serving in the bar area. This left the reception area unmanned at times. The staff in the bar were less pleasant and seemed to wish to be elsewhere. Our room was clean but tired looking. Maybe it's been a busy season and the hotel along with the staff need some life putting back into them. Our visit took place in Sept 2014. In summary and in hindsight, I would only use this hotel as an overnight stay with a view to visiting the sights in the area. The price of food and drink was expensive and breakfast was poor. I can't imagine my comments will change anything but I hope it proves helpful.
Review 18:The location is stunning. If it was good enough for Salvador Dali it's good enough for us. The area is good for walking and is only a 15-20 min walk away from Cadaques and a drive away from Spains most easterly point, Cap de Creus, where you can take in some stunning scenery and spectacular views. The Dali museum is 100m from the Hotel.
Review 19:The swimming pool was small, not particularly clean and the water very cold. There was limited number of sunbeds.
Review 20:The room balcony was a really good space.
Review 21:Mini bar drinks way too expensive.!!
Review 22:Next door to Dali's house. Comfortable room, nice view from balcony. Wi fi worked in our room! 307. Small fridge. Short walk to town centre.
Review 23:"Frozen food" catering in the snack bar. Monopolistic overcharging in the main restaurant. Worn out towels. Half the light bulbs in the bedroom failed. Paper thin walls in bedrooms. Crude "home made" wooden shutters on the bedroom windows that look like they were constructed by a 6 year old. Just four tiny sackets of shower gel. The hotel is a long way from anywhere other than the Dali House and driivng into town in high season is not to be recommended.
Review 24:There was a free car park.
Review 25:Beds unconfortable Sound isolation between rooms
Review 26:Sea view 10 min walk from Cadaques Quiet place, relaxed athmosphere Very friendly staff Next to Dali House
Review 27:We booked three rooms. They gave our kids in two single beds a room with great balcony and view. Our "view" room looked over the parking lot. And we were told no others were available so check that you really have a sea view when you book. Front desk not open or any help at night when our toilet broke and water ran continuously. Water couldn't be shut off as knobs were stripped. In the morning the only response was "oh. Sorry". Internet functions in a twenty foot space in the lobby. Overall. Amazing for close to cadaques location. But nothing much to say about their service.
Review 28:Next to Dali's house with a great view. Walk to cadaques not too difficult. For booking in July for August high season we didn't expect too much. For the location and price it's decent value.
Review 29:The hotel could be lovely but needs a lot of maintenace work. The bedrooms were spotlessly clean but the bed squeaked at the slightest move keeping us awake plus the toilet run continually. The pool was dirty and had lots of missing tiles. The terrace around it could have done with some parasols.
Review 30:Beautifully situated hotel next to Dali's house at Port Lligat (pre-book to visit the house) with fantastic views across the sea with only a short, if a little steep, walk to Cadaques.
Review 31:Room and especially balcony need decorating, uncomfortable bed, fridge wasn't functioning
Review 32:Location, view from balcony, if you locate the footpath into Cadaques it only takes a few minutes walk into town(albeit steep climb in parts)
Review 33:Out of date,
Review 34:Close to Dalli' s house
Review 35:Service minimal, staff not overly friendly, property poorly maintained
Review 36:If u r lucky view is great.
Review 37:Loved that we could bring our dog! Also loved the beautiful sea view and the quick walk into darling Cadaques!
Review 38:needs an update price-quality ratio ... too expensive
Review 39:location
Review 40:situation exceptionelle
Review 41:Everything!!
Review 42:See above.
Review 43:Perfect location for our purposes but strange relationship with the restaurant !! Breakfast ok but needs finess.
Review 44:right next door to salvador dali house
Review 45:Breakfast not good value for money
Review 46:Location
Review 47:internetconnection only downdtairs
Review 48:right next to Salvador&GalaDali's house typical spanish hotella
Review 49:the terrace tappas & view of harbour & Dali's house Very close to visit house, altogether very happy experience
Review 50:There was a problem and there were no hot water in the first day.
Review 51:The view
Review 52:Bit dated needs modernising
Review 53:Location is fantastic, views fab
Review 54:El desayuno insuficiente.
Review 55:La terraza con vistas al mar.
Review 56:Great location giving us a 10-15 minute walk into town & a rustic boutique feel to the hotel
Review 57:The bed was noisy when moving around
Review 58:It's a hotel that has seen better days but it has it's charm. Not for wealthy foreign tourists with high expectations.
Review 59:Réception not friendly at all Room with ceiling light only Restaurant very warm for breakfast Terrasse with no umbrella or other shadow with 35 degrees . Pool not very cleaning afternoon. Overall old feeling Too expensif
Review 60:Noth Much
Review 61:there was a very limited range of drinks in the bar & the food was not always of an adequate standard.
Review 62:the location, view, rooms & staff were all fantastic.
Review 63:Receptionist was very rude. Restaurant offer wasn't that good in theevening. Breakfast too expensive.
Review 64:Location close to Dali house was fantastic. Convenient check in/outtimes and free parking. Accepted dogs too and wifi was available in ourroom. Nice simple decor, clean and comfy.
Review 65:It was a bit Fawlty towers - 1 socket for fridge and tv so you needed to choose, 1 plug in bathroom, no hook for shower over bath so had to be handheld ...
Review 66:Location, size of room, large terrace and view, bar/lounge area. And the rather mad decor items.
Review 67:Ah! The hot water takes forever to get going. You will need an adaptor for the unique old Spanish plugs - not like the French two pin.
Review 68:This 1970s hotel has a charm of its own with a superb view across the bay. The staff were very warm, friendly and helpful. Very comfortable bed and excellent bathroom. We will back - not to visit the Dali house again but to stay in this beautiful bay. This is an ideal out of season location and we now know there are two cottage to rent in the off season. Do visit the Reina de Portlligat restaurant which is owned by the son of the hotel proprietor - haute cusine but different.
Review 69:It was not made clear at the time of booking that the hotel was in fact only open for 2 days at the weekend therefore there was no restaurant available and very limited food of any description.
Review 70:The hotel was as close as one could get to the Dali house museum which was the purpose of our stay.
Review 71:No mirrors except for a small one in the bathroom.
Review 72:Fantastic location, view from terrace spectacular. Proximity to Casa Dali. Fairly easy walk to Cadaques.
Review 73:There are a lot of bad reviews. The hotel only claims to be a 2 star so what do you expect. The decor is old but it's clean, the beds are very noisy and the walls are very thin, but overall a good hotel for its rating.
Review 74:The location is amazing. The pool area is small but always empty and a real sun trap.
Review 75:Hotel located on the top of the city and each time when you want to go to restaurant or to the city centre it's needed to spend 10-15 min walk down the hill. Could be difficult with kids
Review 76:Nice hotel, nice view, inexpensive. 50 meters away from Dali museum
Review 77:The walls were very thin no air con. The toilet was not attached to the floor properly and the bed head also was not attached correctly.
Review 78:The hotel and our terrace had a great view and was very close to the Dali house museum and good easy car parking. A nice pool.
Review 79:Unfortunately there were no stamps at the reception and the hotel could not send my postcard. But this does not diminish the value of the hotel.
Review 80:Excellent location to visit Casa Dali.
Review 81:Hotel shows its age, it has seen better times, jacuzzi was notoperational, breakfast at 11€ not really worth it but having breakfaston terrace is priceless.
Review 82:Location, views from room overlooking the sea were stunning, same forits large terrace overlooking the bay of Port Lligat and Dalí'shouse, which is just down the hill. Very quiet, far from hordes oftourists in Cadaqués which is only a 15-minute walk away. Be mindfulthat hotel is not in Cadaqués but in nearby Port Ligat
Review 83:No - for the price we can't complain.
Review 84:Although not fancy, the hotel is great value for money, with a superb location, adequate swimming pool, amazing views, a good old fashioned decore. It's almost right next door to the Dali house and breakfast on the restaurant balcony is spectacular.
Review 85:Place really cud do with a make over.great location.like the 50s retro thing but just a bit jaded.gets away with it cos is next door to Dali museum
Review 86:Large rooms with views of sea and countryside. Nicely located next to Dali'a house and a short walk to town. Good parking. Easy access to nearby National Parc of fantasic rocky shoreline.
Review 87:Not much! Dont forget your shampoo!
Review 88:Very friendly owner. He did not hesitate to spend 20 minutes with usto chat about restaurants, Dali, things to see ... he was veryhelpful. Having breakfast on the terrace was one of the highlight ofour stay there
Review 89:Food;service;some fittings
Review 90:Position and view
Review 91:Bed was very uncomfortable. Sagging in the middle and noisy springs.
Review 92:Common areas eg. lounge area and terrace
Review 93:amazing view
Review 94:Staff seemed grumpy and preoccupied
Review 95:Location & the balcony
Review 96:Coffee was expensive!
