Reviews for Costa Calero
Review 1:The shower and Bathtub place very dark.
Review 2:The location was brilliant a short walk to the harbor with great restaurants. Breakfast and Pools where amazing.
Review 3:Not really a dislike but worth noting is that Puerto Calero is a very small location. The only option for an evening stroll meant a very steep road down to the port which felt a lot steeper on the way back.
Review 4:We normally do B&B but decided to go half board as it was very cheap but intended to eat out some evenings. Food was very good and nearby restaurant were fairly limited so we ended up eating in every evening. Hotel had evening entertainment and a lively bar but everything quietened down before midnight so no problems sleeping. It is a great location for touring the island if you hire a car as we did. I think hotel has a car park but we didn't need it as there was loads of street parking next to the hotel.
Review 5:What we did not like was being told that we could not bring any breakfast or lunch to our room when we had a sick child who could not come down to the dinning hall. Also not being able to make a cup of tea or coffee in our room.
Review 6:We liked the daily activities, entertainment, childrens class, the pools and the food and especially how clean the complex is.
Review 7:Wifi only worked intermittently.
Review 8:A great hotel in a fantastic location, just a 5 minute stroll to the small Marina and a number of lovely restaurants. Room was large and clean with a comfy bed and a good shower. Breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide range of food. Staff were extremely friendly, pleasant and competent. Facilities were great with plenty of sunbeds available at all times. We'd definitely stay here again.
Review 9:The foods are terrible, maybe british chelf or something I dont know? Another thing is the REFUSED MY LETTER!!!! I comfirmed with them like 10 times they told me like ' sure, I will recieve it for u and give u a call' which is just a bull s-word. I do not recommend anyone to stay in this hotel. u will just feel disappointed. this is actually the WORST hotel in lanzarote i have ever stayed in Lanzarote (I stayed in 5 different hotels).
Review 10:NOTHING!
Review 11:everything was frist class the onl;y problem I had is we could not stay longer
Review 12:It was my birthday while I was there and a bottle of chamepan and fruit \sweet were send to my room from the holtel
Review 13:Nothing to report.
Review 14:Very relaxed atmosphere, staff helpful and friendly. All services to a good standard. Food and drink plentiful and well presented. We will return to this hotel in the near future.
Review 15:The breakfast is very rich but service and setting not accurate because of the too many persons and simple preparation.
Review 16:Splendid location, in the small marina of Puerto Calero. Beautiful swimming pools and green areas. where, despite the number of persons, you can find some privacy. The lobby is full of light and well decorated with nice colors.
Review 17:All childrens entertainment is aimed 4 years plus. Would be nice to have some things for toddlers too.
Review 18:After a rocky start to our stay. The hotel couldn't find our booking and our room for the first night wasn't at all sound proof- you could hear every sound from next door through the connecting door. We have a 17 month baby who isn't quiet. Hotel happily moved us to a much better room and the rest of our stay was fabulous. Great location to walk to the marina. Pools and spa are excellent.
Review 19:The staff are not customer friendly. Whilst they do answer your questions, we were left to feel that we "weren't worthy" The beds were not comfy & neither of us had a good nights sleep, which was the reason for arriving the night before the conference! We didn't have a clue where to go & there aren't sufficient signs plus some of the ones that are there, are misleading. The conference centre has wooden flooring which looks fab & sounds fab when you don't have a speaker. BUT, you do need carpeted walkways, to reduce sound from the background workers walking around, whilst people are speaking in the conference area. Almost too open plan?
Review 20:The facilities provided are top quality. The bathroom & bedroom were spotlessly clean. In theory, we should have had a fabulous stay.
Review 21:problems with wifi in room and could have done with an extra blanket for the bed
Review 22:stayed over christmas period as part of longer apartment break great atmosphere particularly enjoyed the hydro spa
Review 23:No negatives
Review 24:The overall ambience and we had friends staying for a longer period who also liked the efficiency but relaxed feel. All the staff were helpful and indulged me in speaking my poor Spanish.
Review 25:Nothing, it's all good.
Review 26:It's a wonderful hotel. It's in a quiet resort. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Food is very good. It's a large hotel but surprisingly quiet. It's not far from Puerto del Carmen. There is a lovely walk along the coastal path to the old town in Carmen.
Review 27:The fact that the noise from other rooms managed to filter through the aircon system straight into my bedroom. 2am and I could hear them urinate, argue and vomiting. No answer when phoning reception and no interest when I checked out telling them of the issue.
Review 28:Managing to get the last room in the hotel when Ryanair had 7 flights cancelled and deserted lots of passengers at the airport.
Review 29:Nothing to dislike about the hotel. Having previously stayed in Playa Blanca, Puerto Calero is very quiet, with just a handful of designer shops and a selection of restaurants overlooking a pretty marina.
Review 30:My room was a high standard, with a fridge and large patio with sunbeds as well as a table and chairs. The TV had ITV, C4, BBC1,BBC 2 and Cbeebies and the Wifi was free and I had no problem with it in my room. The pool areas are lovely and the spa worth a visit. The food was good, plenty to choose from for my short 4 night break, breakfasts were especially good. I can't comment on the entertainment as I don't usually bother, prefering to do my own thing.
Review 31:There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. So, no early morning cuppa!
Review 32:Everything! We arrived early, left late and were able to enjoy all the facilities until the very last minute. Fab!!
Review 33:We have a 13 year old - too old for the kids club (up to 12) and to be honest the entertainment/activities for teens is really limited/basic. The hotel evening entertainment starts at 9.30pm and finishes at 10.30pm and its very quiet after that - so if you are looking for more go to Puerto del Carmen!
Review 34:The hotel is very relaxing for adults looking for a quiet time - the highlight for us was the pools area - beautiful with lots of different areas - some quiet, some livelier. Didn't have a problem getting sunbeds at all. Catering/hotel staff excellent. Exceptionally clean rooms with daily cleaning, and well-maintained hotel and grounds.
Review 35:Bedroom decor and equipment needs a facelift; still OK but needs attention. Drinking water in room not supplied if you're on B&B only.
Review 36:Excellent breakfast. Plenty of opportunities for sunbathing and swimming (salt & freshwater). Short walk to Calero marina and excellent range of restaurants and bars. Relaxed atmosphere and pleasant staff.
Review 37:The gym is relatively basic, could do with better air conditioning and some of the equipment is old and basic - only 1 cross trainer and reclining bike which in particular could be improved. Rooms are small to have 3 in a room.
Review 38:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Bike service is great - bike parking in the hotel. For a buffet, the food was good. Pools clean and a reasonable temperature. Animation team had a good variety of activities to keep the children entertained!
Review 39:Very spacious grounds - although the hotel was full it never felt crowded. Lovely staff. Nice location.
Review 40:This is an exceptional hotel from start to finish. Staff and management could not have been nicer.
Review 41:Liked everything within hotel control
Review 42:Warm outdoor pools. Big racing pool Spa
Review 43:The fact that the hotel is in such a quiet spot, near to a quality marina.
Review 44:Smoking on the terrace while having dinner + poor wifi on 5th floor
Review 45:Everything
Review 46:No bad experiences
Review 47:Excellent stay could not find fault.Very enjoyable once again.
Review 48:Breakfast was excellent. Great & varied choice of food. Loved the juices.
Review 49:waited a long time for bar service, some staff could be friendlier
Review 50:the room and facilities were great
Review 51:Hotel is in quiet area away from the more touristy Puerto del Carmen
Review 52:Everything.
Review 53:Our room safe didn't work and neither did the phone. Place so big personal touch is not there.
Review 54:Location and common areas really great
Review 55:Relaxed, clean hotel. Great layout of pools and gardens. Good food, good choice. Family friendly. Easy walk to lovely marina.
Review 56:Lunch buffet could be a little better.
Review 57:Lovely ambience, upmarket resort,
Review 58:No tea or coffee making facility in the room .
Review 59:Good Spa
Review 60:Heated pool only 20 degs: too cold. no one used it during our visit in January
Review 61:Bed was a little hard
Review 62:Nice location. Good size rooms. Free Wifi. Rooms and premises very clean. Lovely / large garden area.
Review 63:Very slow speed wifi.
Review 64:Great rooms, excellent food, friendly staff, lovely surroundings, and great location,
Review 65:As this is our third visit to the hotel in under 18 months that speaks volumes for what we like about the hotel.
Review 66:Very basic room, facilities looked excellent but not enough capacity for guests
Review 67:location was great, very friendly staff
Review 68:The coffee at breakfast has always been my bugbear here - everything else is perfect.
Review 69:This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. I am not a creature of habit but this was my 4th stay. Their new All Inclusive Prestige brings a whole new level to things with Free Spa Access, Discounts on Treatments, Ability to order premium wine at dinner and an in-room nespresso machine. If you like Cats get a room on 0-1 floors, if you don't get one higher. The cats are well cared for and keep the bird population down.
Review 70:All staff were excellent, food was varied, entertainment in the evening enjoyable and the daytime reps worked very hard to ensure all who took part had fun.
Review 71:Beds on the hard side. With half board, bottled water was not supplied. As water on tap was unpleasant to drink it was necessary to go shopping for our own supply. This would not have been the case if we had chosen full board terms. Bottled water is cheap and the saving for the hotel would be, slight compared with the poor impression it gave in terms of customer care.
Review 72:Nice area
Review 73:the hotel is focused on the all in market.all others are not catered for.single occupancy is expensive and shunted to the worst rooms.staff are indifferent to customer needs.can any hotel be rated 4 star and serve instant(nescafe)only?
Review 74:the outside facilties
Review 75:Unfortunately we could not use the swimming pools because the water was too cold. It would be nice to have a heated pool during the winter months.
Review 76:This was our 3rd stay in under 1 year Our room was comfortable and clean the staff are very helpful and friendly and the food was very good.
Review 77:If one of the larger swimming pools had been heated at least a bit. We were half board and food was very good except when we bought lunch one day we felt it was poor value for money so decided not to lunch at hotel again.
Review 78:Very relaxing atmosphere. Very efficient service in restaurant. Lots of different areas to relax.
Review 79:The hotel gave us the impression of 'all-inclusive' on an industrial scale. Our room was poorly maintained. TV,fridge and Air conditioning were broken. These were reported but not repaired (except fridge). The bathroom door was dilaminating and the WC flush ran continuously. The staff in the dining room stacked plates and cutlery very loudly. These areas could do with being given more separation from the tables. Because of this we chose to eat outside the hotel on several occasions.
Review 80:The grounds and pool areas. Very well laid out enabling you to sit away from others and choose a location to suit. The reception and adjacent bar areas worked well. We thought that the spa was excellent.
Review 81:- Poor fitness facilities - Spa entrance for hotel guests not free of charge - Outdoor pool(s) not heated and therefore very cold
Review 82:- If you are looking for a quiet place, this is a good option - Personnel very helpfull, friendly and professional - Many nice spots near the pools, sheltered against wind - Free shuttle to Puerto del Carmen (beach) runs a few times a day
Review 83:The selection of drinks at the pool was poor. Cocktails were poor or non existent during the day. Also only one bar was open during our visit in the pool area. One visit to the spa is complimentary. All others have to be paid for, although the rate is small at €7.
Review 84:The hotel is well run and clean. Staff are overall friendly and helpful. The Hotel was not too busy and the many swimming pools allowed for a different location to sunbath during the week. Food is varied and usually something can be found that appeals. Entertainment was good during our visit, although someone should look at the stage lights as they are way out of focus.
Review 85:Nothing. We loved it all
Review 86:Good food! comfortable rooms. Lots of space around and away from the pools. Excellent spa. Entertainment staff very motivated. The effort put into the shows was great. Very clean and well kept hotel
Review 87:Expected the same room position we've been given on each of our other stays there, booked thru Booking. Because it was full they claimed we only qualified for a ground floor room. After some persuasion they provided an excellent 2nd floor room, with sea-view and privacy. So, positive eventually.
Review 88:Not overcrowded, even when fully booked. Plenty of space to relax away from the inevitable noise. Excellent breakfasts. That good we'll go again, Feb 2014.
Review 89:average food quality, dated decorations, location - not much there, free bus to Puerto Del Carmen not very frequent
Review 90:Great choice of pools, nice spa, very quiet, good all inclusive choice of drinks, friendly staff, clean
Review 91:Only disappointment was that we didn't get sea-view top floor room as paid for and requested, huge palm tree in front of balcony obstructing the view. Being on 3rd floor, there was quite a lot of noise from the above and below.
Review 92:Hotel and grounds spacious, clean, and well maintained. Staff lovely and helpful. Good choice of food at all mealtimes. Definitely will return.
Review 93:However, we agree with everyone else that there is a problem with the sunbeds. You need to stop people putting towels on the beds to reserve them. We also found it a problem that the sunshades were fixed as we were unable to move them around to stay in the shade when necessary. It would be nice to have a menu outside the restaurant to tell you what is on offer that night.
Review 94:All in all we could not fault the hotel. Thought the late continental breakfast was a great idea.
Review 95:There was nothing we did,nt like!
Review 96:The staff, who were very friendly and attentive, the food variety, everywhere was clean and tidy. Excellent! This was our second visit, we will definately book again.
Review 97:We came across to visit family who were staying for one week unfortunately on Monday night (the only night we stayed) the entertainment was very poor although they said they had enjoyed every other night.
Review 98:The location, Views from the balcony, Choice of foods and the informal atmosphere.
Review 99:We had no complaints about the hotel, it was perfect for us.
Review 100:We loved everything about the hotel, the spacious rooms, excellentquality and selection of food and drinks and all the staff are friendly, pleasant and very helpful. The entertainment team are really good andwork very hard to make sure everyone enjoys their holiday.
Review 101:I've rated the staff as 'fair' as a number of staff were toobusy chatting to one another to give a friendly service at the bars, although they did serve very promptly. All staff are extremely hardworking and seem happy in their work.
Review 102:The location of Costa Calero is excellent, in a quiet area close to theharbour and marina. Facilities within the hotel are generally excellent.Cleanliness and hygiene are taken very seriously, with staff constantlymonitoring areas and addressing issues as appropriate.
Review 103:Absolutely amazing staff I would definetly return to this hotel
Review 104:staff amazing good choice of food and drinks
Review 105:Nothing to dislike
Review 106:Second stay this year. Best all inclusive hotel been to.
Review 107:One of the better all inclusive hotels we have been to.
Review 108:Not enough taxi service. Not enough to do in puerto calero.
Review 109:Beautiful hotel fabulous surroundings. Value for money
Review 110:Very friendly, helpfull, food choice excellent, good choice of wine
