Reviews for Hesperia Lanzarote

Review 1:I hadn't done an all-inclusive before, was really impressed with the quality of the food. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. It's close to the marina and a beautiful cliff-top walk. Would defo stay again!

Review 2:It is a bit tired looking overall, could do with refurbishment, common areas ok but rooms very dated. No door to the toilet, just a sliding glass screen. No door in between the 2 bedrooms. Not enough staff in the restaurants/bars - long waiting times to order. Definitely not 5*.

Review 3:Location was brilliant. Staff very nice.

Review 4:disappointed that the spa was significantly extra cost even to use the hydro pool and steam rooms, I would expect to pay extra for treatments but no use of the facilities when staying in a 5 star rated hotel

Review 5:The outdoor pool was supposed to be heated but it was quiet cold. The hotel is very big and at the time we visited was quiet empty. The evening meal is an all you can eat buffet for €30 pps I thought this was expensive and the food did not look great. The buffet breakfast was not very nice although it was included in our price. The price of a bottle of water at the bar was very expensive €3.00 for a bottle you could buy in the shop for 40 cent.

Review 6:I really enjoyed the pool areas and the staff were lovely. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The travel cot provided for my baby was lovely.

Review 7:Very poor quality towels both in bathrooms and for sun loungers. Sun loungers were also in poor condition. Tiles loose on balcony. Balcony not cleaned - cockroaches! Could add more but too cross. NOT a 5* more 3

Review 8:On arrival we were given early check in and when leaving a late check out

Review 9:The condition of the pool area was dreadful: waste paper floating in the pools and rotting food scraps under sun loungers untouched for five days. No action on our complaint until we sent email with a picture of the mess to the management. We could see no sign of senior hotel management during our stay except after the email.

Review 10:A well situated hotel with an excellent buffet restaurant. While not really five star standard neither are the prices at five star levels. No sand beach bathing available but within easy hire car reach of Papaguya beaches. Nearby marina has good shopping and restauants

Review 11:The price of drinks in the hotel where very expensive so I would advise you buy bottles of water from the local supermarket.

Review 12:Stuart welcomed us with a glass of Cava and was really friendly and professional. The hotel was beautiful and only 5-10 minute walk to the marina with lots of lovely small bars and restaurants.

Review 13:The rooms are outdated especially the bathrooms which need to be modernised. My one had a cracked bath with mould... Apart from one very good receptionist the staff are a bit of a shambles.

Review 14:The place-and the spa.

Review 15:Sound isolation is pour, but we had few neighbours and they we quiet, so this didn't disturb us a lot. A 'double bed' was really two huge beds staying together.

Review 16:Location: 15 min from airport by car, quiet place on the seaside. Cactuses and palms are amazing. Sauna and massage were pricy but it was the best I've ever had. Breakfast was really good, a big variety of food, the same for lunch and dinner but we preferred to go out. Private terrace.

Review 17:There was often a long wait to be served at the pool bars, the staff always looked busy. The sun loungers could have been more comfortable too.

Review 18:The rooms were really spacious and well presented and the grounds were beautiful. The dive shop was also well run with good equipment. We were pleased that we went for the bed and breakfast option as there were many nice restaurants to try at the marina.

Review 19:Our 2 rooms were not close together (as we had requested) which meant lots of walking from one end to the other to meet each other. My 15 year old daughter was not allowed to use the gym/spa. She uses the gym regularly at home and knows how all equipment works. Maybe parents could accompany their 14-15 year olds and agree in writing to take responsibility for any adverse outcome? She had to pay as an adult for tours and other local attractions but was not allowed the gym - NOT FAIR!

Review 20:Overall quiet and relaxed feel to hotel Tennis rackets provided free Excellent food in La Caleta Rooms were excellent and very comfortable

Review 21:The staff were rude, unfriendly and extremely unhelpful. To list just a few things: when we first arrived at the hotel (after a 20+ hour journey from Singapore) we had to wait in a queue for 40 mins just to check in. When i finally got to the front of the queue i was told that I wasn't able to check in unless i had a PRINTED copy of my booking (showing the staff member the email on my phone was apparently not sufficient). she then agreed to let me forward the email to her and she would go and print it for me, which took a further 10 minutes. once we were finally given our room, i was told that there was no one available to escort us to our room and was just pointed in the direction towards the pool- bear in mind it was 10pm at night and dark. we walked around for a good 15minutes trying to locate our room. We ordered room service on one night and ordered 2 sandwiches, 45 minutes later only one arrived and it was burnt. I had forgotten to bring an electrical plug adaptor with me so when I called reception they told me that they didn't have any in the hotel and i was advised to go to the shops in the morning. The hotel also said they didn't have an iron we could use.

Review 22:the pool and the hotel were lovely, however not as high a standard as the reviews/price suggest. it was fine

Review 23:Poor selection of English TV channels

Review 24:Brilliant location! Nothing bad to say about the hotel. Pool is gorgeous! Just beautiful... sad to be home! Defo be back!!

Review 25:Very little choice on food and all inclusive ended at 11. No ability to eat in other restaurants as advertised. Ended up spending more money on eating out in the marina

Review 26:The hotel was lovely and clean and nice and relaxing

Review 27:- chaotic reception - young stuff, even the separate info personal had no glue - NO GO: sanitary area was combined with entry area, never had that before, really strange (5 star hotel!!) - no flair inside hotel, better spend the evening outside in the habour area - cockroaches inside -pools for real swimming insufficient, inside pool only combined with wellness

Review 28:+nearby the habor with good restaurants + lot of breakfast items, but sometimes poor quality +easy car parking + Puerto Calero is small, not too much tourists

Review 29:Very poor staff at pool bars. A lot of choice at the buffet breakfast but food was sub standard.

Review 30:Very clean and comfortable rooms, that's about it.

Review 31:The food and beverage service was not amazing but the guest relations service made up for this!

Review 32:The French guest relations manager was fantastic, as was all the front office staff!

Review 33:Room was not cleaned once. The staff were most unfriendly. The breakfast was poor. Room service was particularly bad. Piped music in room. 5 star your having a laugh.

Review 34:There were some areas that could have been cleaner but generally it was really good. We were disappointed not to be able to take the kids to the mini disco but it didn't start until 21.30 which was just a bit too late.

Review 35:Our room was a quadruple room which worked really well for us and two kids under 3. The variety of pools were great and being able to walk to the marina meant we could have a nice walk by the sea each day.

Review 36:The room cleaning was very late, no coffee or milk after the 1st day, shower cap, razor, toothbrush etc. were not replenished. Cups and glasses in the room were not cleaned unfortunately.

Review 37:The Location, the pools, the building, the breakfast. Check in was great and use of courtesy room before leaving. Very relaxed atmosphere. The spa and treatments were very good.

Review 38:Poor Wi-Fi not great for teenagers! Reception was slow Some of the facilities were tired e.g. Shuffleboard, Rental Bikes, Mini Golf are need replacing

Review 39:Really great location, with lovely sea view & 10 minute walk to marina with plenty of choice of restaurants. Felt really safe, and nice and quiet Nice big room

Review 40:I liked the location of the hotel - was quiet but only 10 mins walk from the marina. The breakfast was fantastic and the staff were very helpful. I also loved the wee stools in the water at the pool bar.

Review 41:Some of the most appalling service we have ever experienced. From staff kicking our door open and marching straight in to our room without knocking, to having other guests seated from behind us in the queue and our breakfast plates being cleared while we were still eating from them, we spent the entire week not being able to quite believe what we were seeing. Staff were unacceptably rude and unwelcoming for our entire stay, with one of our party being shouted at by management and reduced to tears on one occasion and being too embarrassed to return to the restaurant the following day. We were then offered breakfast in our room which each time we ordered it arrived over an hour late, cold and with items missing. We felt ignored and like our presence in the hotel was a nuisance. We will certainly never return and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Review 42:Could have been a little cleaner such as dust on bedroom surfaces and wifi was non existant in our room. Had to go to reception to check emails and watch telly on the internet as it didnt work in the room.

Review 43:The breakfast selection was great. Pools were stunning and staff were very friendly and professional. Loved tge location and the price was good as well.

Review 44:the fridge did not work so no cool drinks in room We had to to que for an hour to check in it was awfull I wouldn't stay againn no cool drinks in room or tea making facility

Review 45:Nice room nd clean lovely to have shower gel shampoo

Review 46:Poor air conditioning in our room, and the pillows were poor. Food at the Drago Bar was not 5* we tried once and never ate there again. Cat's in the eating area outside, not hygienic.

Review 47:Location on the headland.

Review 48:Having to pay a deposit for pool towels and remembering to take them back each day Was irritating. Not 5* service

Review 49:The location and sense of space around the hotel.

Review 50:No kettle in bedroom. Water too expensive (can't drink from tap). Twin beds in double room (we eventually got king size bed). Bad smells from sewage - in bedroom & outside

Review 51:Staff were top class. Hotel well set out, plenty of space poolside. Twin sinks

Review 52:Booking.com put a big "all inclusive" star on their advert, infact the deal was breakfast only.

Review 53:The location to the Puetro Calero harbour with it's greatrestaurants and water taxi. The facilities, staff and atmosphere were perfect along with an excellent kid's club. Extremely clean, breakfast was superb! If the only thing you want from a holiday is a heated swimming pool then this isn't for you. If you want EVERYTHING else go here as I highly recommend it.

Review 54:The hotel is a 10 mi ute cab ride from the main strip of restaurants and bars - however these is a marina with some restaurants and shops within walking distance.

Review 55:Pretty much everything was excellent

Review 56:The view from the room was a stone wall overlooking a car park . Asked for a sea view on booking and again checking in feel I didn't get what was advertised on website . Was told I could pay an extra 15 euro a day for another room . And the hotel was not full .

Review 57:The bed was very comfortable

Review 58:Played same 20 songs over and over at pool bar.Had to request to change it. They did. Needs to be addressed.

Review 59:The food, style of hotel and service. Very comfortable beds too. All round wonderful hotel.

Review 60:Was in a standard room over looking the car park. Was moved from lower level room after first night. As a solo female traveller, felt quite vulnerable on a ground floor near a busy pool area. Rooms were basic, a sub standard over bath shower in both rooms( poor quality-3star max). Towels were threadbare and internet didn't work in the rooms. No phone in one of the rooms either. Couldn't understand the fuss over the pool towels- €20 deposit for one threadbare specimen-how miserable can you get? And finally the standard of the sunloungers was very poor: old, worn, sagging and many of the sun umbrellas didn't work. Poor show for a supposed 5 star hotel. I travel a lot and know my 4's from my 5's. This is a reasonable 4 star.

Review 61:Setting was lovely, but a little remote. Should run a shuttle service to next towns. Breakfast was good. Some staff were excellent: particular praise to Aoife( completely wasted on towels...come on management don't leave "star" quality staff on menial duties, put her front of house).

Review 62:Bathroom sliding door was broken. Tool 3 days and 3 complains before it got fixed! Not what we expect for the price tag and for that kind of hotel! Swimming pools were extremely cold, even the kids pool that was supposed to be heated. Only one restaurant (buffet) was opened. Had to take the car every evening to go dining elsewhere.

Review 63:Kids room is a good concept Nice breakfast buffet

Review 64:The weather :( Shame no Indoor pool for kids , when bad weather ....

Review 65:The overall experience ! The Animation Team from Matias was Fantastic , The girls Taken care to our little Girl very good !!!

Review 66:Parts of the hotel need some work, our bedroom door got caught in the floor, air conditioning was not working in our room. We were very disappointed with the lack of customer service and lack of attention to detail for a five star hotel. We were planning to book our wedding here but have huge reservations now!!!

Review 67:The hotel is a breathtaking venue.

Review 68:Unfortunately we couldn't get rid of the mossies in our room. Also the pools were extremely clean but it's a shame there isn't a pool you can really swim in. Unfortunately the beach nearby is stony.

Review 69:The hotel staff were really helpful and friendly. The food was excellent with lots of choice and variety. We upgraded to a suite which was huge and very comfy. It's a short walk to Puerto Calero which is quite up market with a lovely marina. The whole complex was very clean.

Review 70:Five stars and furniture old, dirty and broken! canopy torn in the corner, armchair so dirty that I was scared to sit on it, when took out the cushion, it was like years of crumbles and dirt...So asked that they would cover at least with a white sheet. Tbed linen was with strings pulled out, little holes all over...In the bathroom - somebody elses pubic hair...grose...Cleaning staff don't have/don't ever use vacuum cleaners...

Review 71:Nice surroundings (except in the room), good position in the island to see it all.

Review 72:Food left alot to be desired. Dining room lovely but what a shame about the food staff lovely there but it wasn't there fault. Who ever is in charge should realise that most people who go there are either English, Irish, French,or German & others .Dinner was very expensive for what we got ,mostly caneries type of food, plus they ran out on one of the nights.

Review 73:Liked the designe of the hotel very modern & clear lines .Pool area was fab. Bedroom very nice, couldn't complain about & bed perfect for me,who has serious spinal problems ,5stars on all that .

Review 74:Fridge not working did report it - baby's milk went off Wish I'd known about all inclusive deals

Review 75:Location Staff were superb Food - good choice

Review 76:Pillows were terrible and not comfortable and I was part of an adjoining room which I did ask to be locked but never was which made it difficult to sleep and felt unsecure

Review 77:Staff food and drink excellent

Review 78:First room shown was dirty, then got room change to clean room.Walls very poorly insulated so sounds from adjacent room quite audible.

Review 79:Beautifully landscaped grounds kept very well.Short walk to lovely marina with good restaurants.

Review 80:The only slight negative was we had 1 grumpy chamber maid who shouldn't be employed.

Review 81:The staff could not do enough for you; they were so polite and friendly. Fantastic breakfasts A great, relaxing place to stay

Review 82:Wifi and tv rubbish - no English channels. Cleaners didn't remove dirty glasses from room. Pedal bin in bathroom broken. Bar service bit chaotic. Cockroaches evident - in room, corridor and one of loos.

Review 83:Free gym. Thank heavens for the spa in the inclement weather. The easy location from airport. Staff were charming. Drago bar and lovely waiter great though it was obvious a lot of staff new as service very patchy. We had buffet dinner once as not all inclusive - very expensive. Buffet breakfasts great considering catering for a lot of, people. Pedal bin in bathroom broken. Shame about the weather.

Review 84:Being off season, some of the restaurants were closed and it was fairly quiet, but that's not a reflection on the hotel itself.

Review 85:Loved the location and the staff were so friendly/helpful. The hotel is superb. Loved the breakfasts.

Review 86:poor wi fi not in the rooms. a lot of bars facilites shut in january.

Review 87:the spa, the variety of foods in the restaurant, beautiful location and nice walks.Concierge service reception staff, room cleaning all good. Would maybe go again.

Review 88:unfortunately all outside pools, except a ridiculously minute one, coud not be used because the water was ice cold. The inside pool in the spa is only available against extra payment and is not suitable for swimming

Review 89:The staff at the reception is very nice and helpful, excellent breakfast, beautiful garden, good position

Review 90:Quality if food is poor and cold. Cleaning of rooms shoddy. Fixtures and fittings very run down in places. 3/4 star standard. Much too expensive for the standard on offer

Review 91:Location, staff,

Review 92:Notting!!

Review 93:Hesperia is just fantastic! The stunning views just within the complex are breathtaking & you can't help but feel an instant relaxation when you get there!!! Definitely an experience we want again & soon!

Review 94:Internet was incredibly awful.. not worthy for the price i was paying .... this is not good for a 5 star hotel.. as well that not all the food was inclusive and were many things not alowed

Review 95:Food and view ... the landscape beautiful and luxury place

Review 96:Could imagine hotel would be busy in high season.

Review 97:Fantastic location 10min stroll to the port, Spa is a must ... We took the all inclusive option which was hassle free with good quality drink and food options.

Review 98:Only criticism was bad drainage on the tennis court after heavy rain - but we managed to play on half a court! Wi-Fi was very slow in November when the hotel was not at its peak, so imagine this would be quite an issue in peak weeks

Review 99:Location, right on the coast and short walk into nearby marina complex with restaurants, shops Lots of pools Tennis court Good breakfast buffet Lovely suite room with views over pool to the sea Nearby parking

Review 100:Maintenance work at the heated pool throughout the whole of our stay meant that the pools were freezing! It was also noisy due to the use of the digger. It is great that gluten free breakfast is available however all waiting staff should be made aware. The lesser English speaking staff didn't understand when asked for 'breakfast sin gluten' despite there being a notice advertising it and on these occasions the breakfast never materialised. On the days it did it was fab!

Review 101:There was a calming and relaxing atmosphere throughout the hotel. All staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. I am coeliac and was aprensive prior to the visit but needn't have worried. On the first night one of the chefs was brought out of the kitchen to talk me through what was gluten free

Review 102:Poor free wifi, asked about reading emails and was told you had to upgrade. Air con set at 20 degrees in the room, as per hotel policy. Half board means BB and dinner, could not have lunch instead of dinner in the evening, hotel policy. No bottle opener in the room so had to go to the bar/reception to open a bottle of wine, hotel policy! No wine glasses in the room, hotel policy. Pool water was very cold. Expensive drinks, if not on all inclusive.

Review 103:Comfort of the bedroom, we had a suite. Short walk from the marina. Good spa offer was taken to heat up after the cold water in the pool.

Review 104:We were a little surprised when the cleaner knocked on our door at 9.30 waking us up asking at what time we planned to check out. Quite rude. We also had a problem ordering breakfast in bed. We forgot to put on the form that we left outside our room what time we'd like it. So it didn't arrive. We were unable to ring or figure out what number/button on the phones to call reception. So we had to go down (it's a big hotel) and ask for it defeating the object. Staff then called us back in our room asking what we would like but again were quite rude on the phone speaking poor English. The staff on reception however were very pleasant. Overall the service not a patch on melia salinas but in a nicer location

Review 105:Beautiful building and lovely generously sized and luxurious suite with sea views and jacuzzi. It was our wedding night.

Review 106:we spent the best week of our lives! Staff were really nice. The room was very clean. Event planner prepared the ceremony place and everything was amazing! We will go back for our anniversary

Review 107:The pool umbrellas and loungers were a bit tired and the wifi in the room were poor. These matters did not really affect a great relaxing holiday.

Review 108:The hotel was in a lovely setting and the facilities were great. Plenty of pools and bars to choose from. The food in the main buffet was excellent and although the al carte restaurants were offered inclusive we opted for the buffet as it was easier with our 18 month old daughter. The food and drinks offered in the all inclusive package was excellent and made for very good value for money. The little port if Puerto Calero is 10 minutes walk and was a lovely spot too.

Review 109:Service at the bars was very slow regardless of the time of day or the type of stay you were on (all inclusive or cash). We opted to move to all inclusive two days before we left partly because we had exhausted the local restaurants and partly because the food and drinks were pretty expensive in the hotel. In addition, we were there for a wedding and assumed our all inclusive drinks could be used at this function - we were wrong. Apparently this is a privately owned bar. This was not explained when we parted with our €50 per day per person fee. As part of the all inclusive you are permitted to book one reservation in each of the two A La Carte restaurants in the resort. What was not mentioned to us was that one of the restaurants is part of the wedding package so if there is a wedding going on, you cannot use this and therefore we missed out. The one meal we did have a la carte was in the El Risco restuarant. Assuming the a la carte status in a five star resort meant the meal should be of a good quality I ordered the steak. I was bitterly disappointed and after the 15th cut into my fatty steak I gave up. Despite the fact myself, my partner and the large group we were with (wedding party) complained or feedback to staff, our comments seemed to be ignored. I cannot fault the food at the wedding but still the service had something to be desired. Many of us had eaten our food before all at our table had been served. The wifi is horrific. You are supplied with a code which allows you to add 4 devices which is more than sufficient but you have to constantly re-enter this code throughout the day and it is also quite slow.

Review 110:There were plenty of pools in the resort and you never had to fight for a sun lounger. The food was inconsistent across the resort but the best tapas was at the pool bar by the El Caleta restaurant and the best paella was at the top pool bar nearest the hotel. Overall the stay was pleasant but despite how nice the hotel looks, the space, the cleaniness I was struggling to understand how a five star hotel can get away with such poor service.

Review 111:Some bar staff are very rude Need to pay spa facilities to access Expensive drinks

Review 112:Nice and quiet area Reception,Manager and concierge staffs are all very good Good food specially breakfast Clean room and comfortable beds

Review 113:The food was really bad no verity, none of the room service and restaurant staff knows how to speak English. Room ok but the suit is not good for the money.

Review 114:View is good

Review 115:Only down side was the poor wifi although you can upgrade if you're prepared to pay extra.

Review 116:All staff are friendly and professional. Resort is immaculately clean. Rooms are cleaned every day. Food is excellent.

Review 117:Dinner in the hotel, very poor choice of food with very little flavor. Shortage of clothes hangers in the room for a nine night stay.

Review 118:We stayed for nine nights and really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Breakfasts are very good, we had dinner on the night of our arrival and eat every other night down in the marina where the food was lovely.

Review 119:That it rained for one day out there! Nothing really to complain about overall

Review 120:I loved the area the staff and the food it was a perfect experience

Review 121:The "hot" food at the buffet was cold every day at lunch and dinner.

Review 122:Lovely room and friendly, helpful staff

Review 123:Tranquil location , wonderful staff, i will definitely be back in the not too distant future D.V

Review 124:chole on reception was exceptionaly helpfull

Review 125:As a solo traveller, treated uniformly politely and with charm by all staff (which cannot always be said...)

Review 132:Food is not good at the pool bar or at breakfast

Review 133:The Spa is lovely

Review 134:I have stayed twice now and I'm going back in two weeks but the beds are very hard

Review 135:Location and staff are amazing. The Spa has 6 star service

Review 137:Everything except the pillows

Review 138:staff inconsistent with service and some had attitude especially with all inclusive guests

Review 139:Hotel good , location good , food fantastic

Review 140:Excellent breakfast buffet, lots of choice. Loads of swimming pools snd sun loungers available. Very nice hotel

The Fine Print

The hotel restaurants serve gluten-free dishes, as well as high chairs and a food puree service for infants.All-inclusive guests receive an exclusive lunch in Botavara Restaurant.
