Reviews for Puerta de Algadir
Review 1:Excellent value for money for this modern hotel just 4km from the town centre. For under €40 a couple we got a large twin room with ensuite & a plentiful continental breakfast. Plus we enjoyed a pizza & a beer in the bar.
Review 2:wi-fi connection was weak and there was an unpleasant smell from pipes after flushing the toilet which was a real shame given the high standard of the bathroom
Review 3:Very nice clean and comfortable hotel, should be *** at least per my perception... Staff was very helpfull, free secure parking available - all we needed
Review 4:The address on bookings.com was misleading, as it mentioned Cadiz, and the hotel was not near Cadiz at all. No restaurants nearby, the hotel had its own restaurant, but it was not open the night we stayed.
Review 5:Large bedroom with easy on site parking. Great for a quick stop when on the way to somewhere else.
Review 6:They are offering continental breakfast for 7 Eur/person, but there was almost nothing to eat. Obviously they are not used to offer breakfast.
Review 7:Good value for the money.
Review 8:Nothing bad.
Review 9:The owner was very kind et helpfull, because I haven't sleep at all the night before at the Hotel Conisol (bed very hard et bad smell in the bedroom). He show us our bedroom and the bed. Every thing was perfect. Nice and wide bedroom, very clean and quiet. Confortable bed. He gave us many informations to visit Puerto Santa Maria. The meals were excellent: Good italian cooking!
Review 10:Noise from the highway and difficult to find the hotel. No refrigarator in the room.
Review 11:Good deal for money and a very good pizza restaurant in the hotel with great pizza and salads. Very accesible to a lot of places.
Review 12:Upon the arrival we have been told by the receiptionist (older lady)that there is a flat fee bufet breakfast for 7,-EUR.We used it dailly. While check out the owner charged us breakfast per consumed item (in the sum more than 7,- EUR) saying that he is the owner and the receiptionist has no right to define prices...
Review 13:a little bit far from the city center, car is necessary, hotel is near roundabout, quite noisy, breakfast could be better, the staff was going to charge us for breakfast even it was included in room's price so it is recommended to have list of reservation in spanish language
Review 14:pizza very delicious
Review 15:When I wanted to check out, I saw 10 E on my bill (I was whole day in Giblartar, so I was not able to order anything). Did not if that was a mistake, but still - didnot feel nice when I had to explain everything.
Review 16:We wanted to visit Giblartar, so this place was ok. We stayed there just for one night, from 23.00 till 8.00. The room was clean, everyting under control.
Review 17:The exit light over the door shone in my son's eyes at night until he covered it with a towel.
Review 18:Although near a busy road, the high wall kept us from hearing road noise. A short drive from a shopping center and the train station to Cadiz.
Review 19:Being on the edge of a city there wasn't a pool at this hotel - but it is reflected in the price!
Review 20:Great value for money, Nice spacious room, clean, plenty of free parking, wifi in the rooms. Only 10 mins into Port Sherry and easy access to other local beautiful towns
Review 21:Little bit out from the centre of el puerto de santa maria (30 min walk down a busy main road) but suited us as we are at attending a wedding elsewhere.
Review 22:Size of the room Cleanliness Spanish Style Waterpark across the road! Staff are so lovely and hospitable!
Review 23:The way into the hotel from the road is not easy to find. It was dark when we arrived and we had problems finding the way in.
Review 24:Almost everything. Excellent value for money.
Review 25:- noise on the corridor and from guest in pizzeria - noise behind the window - close to the main street
Review 26:- everyday cleaning - very good contact with owners and service - free parking - close to the city center of course when you have a car
Review 27:First of all, the hotel can't be located by GPS, which would have been something to include on the website, I would think. We called to get directions from the nearest town and they were, in a word, disastrous! We were sent on a wild goose chase that ended with us lost and completely disoriented for HOURS. When we called to get more help the receptionist, who wasn't from the area, couldn't help us so she passed us off to the cook, who was also of no help. Clearly not knowing where we were in relation to the hotel, we explained where we were, he generously offered to come find us, but we don't believe he ever actually tried to. After waiting on the side of the road for ANOTHER HOUR with NO NEWS from the cook or the hotel about where he was, and several calls on our part to try to locate him, we gave up and drove around until we found the police setting up a road block. IF IT HADN'T FOR THEM WE NEVER WOULD HAVE FOUND IT. The hotel is very poorly marked and, from the road, looks like a strip bar. When we arrived, exhausted, the cook sheepishly said that "they" told him we'd just left when he got to where we'd been waiting. Who the hell is "they"?! We were on the side of a road in the middle of nowhere... as we'd told him repeatedly. And it was 2 in the morning! Who would've been hanging around wherever we were?! Had we arrived with no problems, we probably would have given them an average to good rating. But this was such an exceptional situation. Ridiculous. I will never, ever go back. Also, there were long, black hairs on the floor in the bathroom. Yuck.
Review 28:The room felt modern and was enormous, as was the bathroom. Nice, big eating area for breakfast, which was inexpensive and options for celiacs.
Review 29:too far from city center
Review 30:The place was quiet, new furnishings and clean
Review 31:A little bit of a distance to walk to the centre.
Review 32:Nice room with free internet access
Review 33:Nothing
Review 34:All
Review 35:nice venta next door offering value food and drinks if the hotel bar was closed
Review 36:Everything was perfect except with the kocation. You need a car if you want to go to a beach or city center.
Review 37:The 3rd bed in the room was loud and unfortunatelly unconfortable.
Review 38:Friendly staff
Review 39:Bad WiFi, you need a car to get there.
Review 40:Good value for money
Review 41:Very down to earth place to stay. Great service and staff can't do enough to help make your stay comfortable.
Review 42:great value for money, 15min by car to Cadiz
Review 43:Very clean, warm and comfortable. I stayed here second time and everything was nice. Super easy to find this place.
Review 44:Wifi signal was good but could be better.
Review 45:Location
Review 46:Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent value for money.
Review 47:The location is a bit out of town and need to get a taxi
Review 48:Good clean hotel Comfortable and very friendly and helpful staff
Review 49:bed not clean cold water in shower noise
Review 50:proximity to the beaches (10min) price good and cheap pizza at the restaurant spacious room
Review 51:El aire no enfriaba mucho hacia calor
Review 52:El trato muy hable, la pizza rica.
Review 53:isn't here minibar on the room :)
Review 54:quiet wifi on the room aircondition parking
Review 55:The welcome when we arrived, we were told that our room was on the second floor but as soon as the person saw my wife using a walking stick the room was changed to a ground floor one. We asked if we could eat earlier than the customary 8pm to be told that an earlier time would be no problem. On the second day we had already eaten at lunch time so asked we could have a salad as our main course. We found that Lydia had prepared a wonderful tuna salad for us. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff we met. Our room was clean and comfortable.
Review 56:We stayed in this hotel for two nights while going to seville, we had a car and parking is available. We visited Cadiz and Jerez who are not far from Santa Maria. We would book again in this hotel if needed. very friendly staff. very good vegetarian pizzas.
Review 57:The fact the my Tomtom (tonto) didn't take me there directly, but left me 50m before, on the previous turn. If you are lost, look for the roundabout with wine wood containers, there's a big sign on the roof saying hotel or something like that. A free advice: go to Cadiz center by train, because parking there can be a headache.
Review 58:The room, the bathroom, the fact that you didn't have to leave the hotel to have a meal, if you were to tired for that, the parking (actually the entrance is a bit tricky, you have to take the narrow passage on your left, but the next times are fine). Being let down by other places before, when I checked in I warned them that I was expecting to have a good wi-fi signal and indeed it didn't let me down. It was so good we decided to stay a second night.
Review 59:location was ok but hotel was difficult to find directions on booking site were totally useless please state the hotel is near the aquapark and was expecting tea and coffee making facilities
Review 60:room was very clean and comfortable beds made daily and staff were very pleasant
Review 61:Breakfast is less value for the money. Nothing to see around the hotel.
Review 62:Large and comfortable rooms. Cheap quality pizza's with room service. Quick acces to Highway
Review 63:The fact that we only stayed for 1 night wished we had stayed longer.
Review 64:Everything was spotlessly clean and we really liked the personal attention from the staff. Had an excellent pizza for dinner in the restaurant. Well equipped spacious room, well maintained. Would definitely recommend and we will go back again. I am a fussy guest but this place was perfect.
Review 65:The hotel is very close to a major road. This can be noisy but the windows are well sound proofed. If you HAVE to sleep with an open window choose another hotel or bring ear-plugs!
Review 66:We like everything about the Hotel. Our second stay, and we will be back. Friendly and efficient staff, comfortable and clean rooms and good overall facilities. Some of the most spectacular parts of Andalucia can be easily reached by car using this Hotel as a base. Jerez, Cadiz, and the truly breath-taking hilltop village of Arcos.Seville and Cordoba are also within range and of course the hotel has a FREE car park.
Review 67:Room was a little cold and the a/c on heating did little to help. But this was a cold January, I doubt if this would be an issue for most of the year!!
Review 68:Lydia on reception was very kind and helpful and answered all our questions with humour and efficiency. The room was absolutly fine and very well equipped. We need to be in the area several times this year and will definitely book again. Other members of staff were also very friendly and pleasant but I dont have names.
Review 69:Excellent! A very clean spacious room, great interior, quality furnishings, very clean linen, spacious bathroom. Very great comfort and ambience for a motel. Helpful and friendly owner. Location in a quiet area, free parking. A good deal price-comfort. We will always return with pleasure!
Review 70:the direction is wrong!! on the booking.com it took as somewhere els!! I need to call the hotel and ask where they where..and the best thing is when I did the gentlemen hang up on me when I start speaking in English! The good thing was that my partner speak Spanish when he call he get the proper direction.. At the desk in the hotel the Gentleman told us he don't speak English-I do get that but at least learn how to say "I don't speak English " and don't hang up on people -that really make me fell bad:(
Review 71:Big room with nice deco ,bathroom was good to
Review 72:- Room could have been cleaner, the bedside table and other items were covered by dust. - Funny shower. Neither me nor my partner were able to figure out how to change the temperature. - Very noisy hotel, as walls are very thin. You can hear other people showering and it was impossible for me to sleep after 7 am due to all noise coming from stairs and reception area.
Review 73:+ Very good price\quality value. Beautiful room and hotel interior for the price. I would rank it even as a 3 star hotel. + Conveniently located and easy to find by car. + Friendly and helpful personnel.
Review 74:Hard to find without GPS, as nobody has heard of the place. Only good if you have your own transport, not close to public transport, it is out of town.
Review 75:Private parking, good room, clean.
Review 76:Tight entrance to car park.
Review 77:Comfortable hotel with a friendly manageress. Continental breakfast was good value for money. There is a night club next door which we were told was noisy but we didn't hear any excess noise.
Review 78:Nothing to complain about the hotel, just to mention the GPS coordinates provided by booking.com are wrong and led me to a dead end far from the hotel.
Review 79:Dino, the italian owner, is a very friendly person, besides that the breakfast, internet service, room size and location of the hotel is very covenient.
Review 80:The location was a bit far out of the town for us, taxi required. Ideal though if you had a car and wanted to do sightseeing in the local area. Unfortunately there was a sewage smell in the hotel which was a pity as otherwise a lovely hotel.
Review 81:Nice clean hotel on the outskirts of El Puerto de Santa Maria. Friendly helpful staff.
Review 82:Somewhat difficult to find while driving at night, even with my Garmin GPS with 2013 maps, the address (689 KM marker on highway N-IV) couldn't be entered; after floundering around for about 15 minutes we did manage to spot the sign just off of a roundabout. Not a big deal overall though.
Review 83:Very spacious room for a great price, big comfortable bed, larger than beds we had in other, more expensive rooms in other hotels in Spain. Had a pool also, but we didn't have time to check it out unfortunately. Very friendly staff, and a reasonably priced yummy breakfast also. The location suited our needs perfectly; we spent a day in Cadiz on our way up the coast, then it was about a half hour drive to the hotel. The next morning, it only took us about 10-15 minutes to get into the heart of Jerez.
Review 84:Breakfast could have been a little better, but that's just a very small detail compared to other benefits.
Review 85:Excellent value for money. Very close to Cadiz if you are traveling by car. Easily reachable and free parking.
Review 86:Next to the main road but short distance to Jerez and Cadiz.
Review 87:The accommodation is definitely more than 2 star hotel. Nice and very comfortable facility. English speaking staff. Free parking.
Review 88:Stuff did not speak English at all. Gps coordinates on booking.com siteare wrong (as of 2.5.2013). They refused to take credit card as apayment method specified on booking details. We had to pay with cash.
Review 89:Bed sheets and towels needs to be changed every day, not every 2 days.
Review 90:Location, Calm, clean, family owened business, Mr Dino Ferrarri great guy. Superb basic breakfast.
Review 91:Lack of walking distance restaurants close by.
Review 92:Large comfortable room. Friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of freeparking. Very handy for large hypermarket and shopping centre.Equidistant from and very convenient for Cádiz, Jerez, and Doñananational park.
Review 93:The walls are a bit thin, so noises from other rooms are loud. That said it was Carnaval, so I am sure every hotel was a bit loud.
Review 94:The staff was very nice and the place was very clean. It was centrally located for the activities we wanted to do.
Review 95:If you need to dry your hair make sure you take your own hairdryer just in case..
Review 96:Easy to find and great center point for visiting the different towns in the surrounding area. Clean and friendly staff. Will stay stay again
Review 97:Unfortunately there was a lot of noise (loud talking, doors slamming)from the bar until deep in the night (04:00 am !) and the noise startedagain early in the morning (00:06 am) so I did not get much sleep.Next door is a hotel that looks like some gambling place (or even brothel) so the noisy customers may be the spill over from there.
Review 98:The hotel is on a busy road leading to Puerto de Santa Maria.Staff was very friendly and spoke good English. The room was large with good beds, a small desk, small TV and a nice clean bathroom. The TV had a limited selection of Spanish channels. Free Wifi internet was dead slow so I could hardly use that. The breakfast buffet had a good selection of food. Strange was that the hotel advertises everywhere that breakfast is not included in the room price and that there are a number of options. I choose the breakfast buffet option for € 10,- but was not charged for this. Maybe this was because of the slow winter season. The hotel lies in a desolate area and with the noise I would think you might have better luck in the village.
Review 99:none
