Reviews for Hotel Ubaldo

Review 1:The only negative (and only negative for older visitors) is that the hotel is on a steep hillside and that, together with the absence of an elevator, makes going to and from the higher story rooms physically challenging.

Review 2:The buffet breakfast was excellent both with respect to selection and quality. The dining room and the room we occupied were very comfortable and tastefully decorated.

Review 3:Great location in the narrow streets and close to restaurants on the sea front. Close to the public car park (pay) as you come into town but there is a street next to the car park where free parking is available, except on Monday due to the market. The hotel does have its own car park underground a short distance from the hotel and we were told its suitable only for smaller cars due to the narrow winding ramp down to level 3. The hotel were really helpful and when we had to move our car due to the market and arranged for us to park in another hotel's car park above ground. The bed I had was really comfortable and I'm really fussy having an artificial hip. Love this hotel and if we can brave the road into Cadaques will definitely stay here again.

Review 4:Nice hotel, value for money. Friendly and helpfull staff! If we will come back to Cadaques, we will stay here again! Our room was clean, it was enough space to feel comfortable. The hotel is located in a good area, easy to go to the center where you can find nice place for a lunch or dinner.

Review 5:Noise from staircase, weak Wi-fi signal in our room.

Review 6:Big bathroom, balcony, central location, free parking (very narrow though) in a town where parking options are very limited or expensive.

Review 7:No lift and the room was 3 stories up. The bed needed a foam pad over the stiff springs.

Review 8:Staff was wonderful and the room spotlessly clean. Lot's of space.

Review 9:Beds were very comfortable but there were no double beds available.

Review 10:We loved our stay in hotel Ubaldo! Location is perfect, close to everything and in a lovely and cozy street. Staff was extremely nice! The hotel has a parking which was a plus because it's very difficult to park in the village. Room was new and nicely decorated. We had a small terrace with a table and chairs, perfect to relax. Beds are really comfortable and the air conditioning made a huge difference in the summer! It was a very pleasant stay!

Review 11:There is not a fridge in the room that may have been very useful.

Review 12:The hotel is very close to the centre of Cadaqués, the sea and the bus station. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable and the towels were changed every day.

Review 13:The best holiday we've had. The town itself is wonderful, a hidden gem. Perfect for those who want to get away from it all - quiet, friendly, good food, and lovely walks. The staff in Hotel Ubaldo were very professional and welcoming. The room was lovely, simple, clean and nicely modern in it's decoration while still maintaining some character.

Review 14:The beds were a little hard but definitely able to get a good nights sleep.

Review 15:This hotel is in a great location. Only a few minute walk to the beach. It is tucked into the quieter back part of the town. The staff are super friendly and speak great english. The rooms are sparse but clean and the air conditioner works great. Overall, a great deal based on location.A basic beach type hotel that meets the needs.

Review 16:At first I thought I did not like that there was no lift. But Carmen helped us carry the bags up, and carrying them down was easy. Plus the daily climb burned off calories, and I did love to eat that good Catalan food.

Review 17:Very clean, and roomy, marble stairs; good storage, great balcony view, and fabulously helpful, and charming, receptionists who spoke English, and who gave us great insider info about shopping, eating, beaches, towns around about, etc.

Review 20:Thin walls, but it's probably in every hotel, you can hear someone locking the door in the morning.

Review 21:Very nice environment, clean, smells good. Staff was very friendly, helpful. Very good place in the town, because it's in quiet street, and very close to sea.

Review 22:You need to be fit to stay here and be travelling light. Lots of steps and stairs. We wouldn't let that put us off staying again but would unload the car close to the hotel before finding a car park (paying one 300 metres away and hotel's free one 600 metres but access and specially the exit is tricky).

Review 23:Very nice welcome;our room in the separate annexe adjacent to the main hotel was simply furnished but very comfortable with a balcony overlooking the town. Super location in the centre of Cadaqués but fairly quiet.

Review 24:Before arriving check location of public parking. This is an old village with narrow streets and you don't want to get stuck...

Review 25:Price,location,cleanliness.

Review 26:The room smell like tobacco, very strong! The bathing handle was broken so it was uncomfortable to take a shower.

Review 27:The price and the size of the room was good for the price.

Review 28:The only downside is the wi-fi signal was not strong enough to work in the room (two floors above the lobby) most of the time.

Review 29:The staff was super friendly, the room was excellent, and we loved the balcony! It really made the room. It was a tiny balcony but I could've stood on it for hours watching everything going on around me. It's close to the main strip of Cadaques (if you can even call it that) yet there are no noisy bars within earshot. And there's a gem of a bar about a block away called "Brown Sugar" that was one the highlights of the town for me. Highly recommended. Hotel Ubaldo is a solid place to stay.

Review 30:The WiFi did not work properly.

Review 31:The staff was friendly and flexible. Hotel was very clean. We were looking for a low budget place, but found a lovely hotel.

Review 32:The WiFi in the highest floor (we were in room 405) was very poor and wecouldn't really use it. Breakfast for 9 eur was a bit disappointing(only bread, jam, croissants and cheese), although in touristy Cadaquesfor an okay price. The bed was not comfortable (too hard mattress), andone of us woke up with a sore neck.

Review 33:The location to enjoy and relax in Cadaques was perfect, and HotelUbaldo had compared to other options a very good value for money. Thestaff was very friendly and helpful (make sure you speak some wordsof Spanish, it's easier then). Hotel Ubaldo offers free parkingclose by, just make sure to bring a small car! (The parking garage isvery narrow!) The bathroom and shower was very spacious andcomfortable and the best we had on our trip. Overall, our room wasvery clean and also quiet.

Review 34:The Wifi didn't work at all.

Review 35:The location was perfect, 100m near the sea. In a very pleasant street.15min. from the Dali's house (Port Lligat). Many restaurants.

Review 36:The car parking was a little stressful and we have a small car. Although the owner did tell us about the tight entrance to the parking and asked what size our car was.

Review 37:All the comments we had read about the hotel were true. Friendly, family run hotel. Very good service, very clean. We had a lovely stay and will return. Very good value for the money.

Review 38:Nothing comes to my mind.

Review 39:I can just recommend this family hotel. The staff/owners are very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is also excellent, just in the center of Cadaques, 3 minutes by walk to the beach, 15 minutes by walk to Port Lligat. Good starting point for the paths to the national park Cap de Creus.

Review 40:Staff was helpful and you can tell they like what they do. Hotel is in an ideal location and well taken care of. So close to wonderful little shops, cafes and the waterfront.

Review 41:It was all good

Review 42:Good location, close both to the bus station and to the beach front. No lift so if you hace heavy luggage you've better prepare, but its not awful either. In general, great place to stay for the money.

Review 43:The beds were uncomfortable, there was no kettle in the room and there was no hot breakfast available. We were pleased that we asked for a top floor room as the apartment had poor sound insulation.

Review 44:Had secure car park but was some way from the hotel. However understandable given the hotels location which made this a minor inconvenience.

Review 45:Comfortable room with great bathroom. Easy walk to the beaches and the beautiful streets with their small shops.

Review 46:It was impossible to connect to the WI-FI for the first day for one of our two mobile phones with no visible reason. The second day it was ok. Also no lift, be aware.

Review 47:Very nice hotel though nothing really special. All clean and nice, change towels everyday

Review 48:As others have mentioned, the parking on the -3 level of a nearby garage is very tight to get into. You'll need someone to help negotiate the ramps without hitting the wall. However, it's worth the effort as the alternative is to pay around €30 a day in the public car park. It seems there's hardly any free parking in Cadaques. The hotel did say we can park on the street nearby, but not on Mondays as there is a market.

Review 49:Our double room was clean and comfortable. Not huge, but for the price you can't complain, and it had a small balcony. Breakfast was a selection of fruit and pastries. Staff very friendly and helpful, and we were able to leave our luggage and car parked for the whole day after checking out.

Review 50:The room was v small and accommodated a small double bed - bit of a squeeze. The WiFi was hopeless. Our room was on third floor - and there is no lift, so you need to be fit. Car parking is a nightmare and the hotel is not so easy to locate with a car. Reception staff on arrival wasn't over welcoming!

Review 51:The town is very interesting and as such the hotel provides a good base. Good sized balcony for sitting out, breakfast OK and reception staff on departure helpful

Review 52:We stayed here for 2 nights and this hotel was perfectly adequate for what we needed-although you are paying for the place. Cadaques as a place seemed much nicer than Roses (less trippy), and had a bit more about it than Port Lligat-although it was extremely busy. The room wasn't overly big, but big enough; having a balcony really helped! We did find a fantastic restaurant very nearby- Can Tito : amazing!

Review 53:steep stairs to 3rd floor. breakfast finished at 10 am too early! no coffee or tea maker in room, no food allowed.

Review 54:loved the roof terrace belonging to my room, the biggest of all the rooms. loved the big breakfast, amazing choice of food.

Review 55:nothing, it is better than you expect for this price.

Review 56:Staff were extremely helpful especially with bag storage and parking (if a little scary) Good location near sea front and restaurants. Very good value for this area. A good hotel for this price range. We have stayed in many others at this level which were very inferior.

Review 57:Rooms are a bit packed and can be noisy at night. Parking is not an option except if you have a (very) small car.

Review 58:Nice personal, helpful, and very nice location. Big bathroom. Rooms were clean.

Review 59:It would have been good to know where the hotel car park was located at booking....... we would have known to go to hotel first and get key and directions to car park. Car park has very steep entry and very narrow, so take care..... but free of charge and finding parking is not easy

Review 60:The location of the hotel is great as few minutes walk to sea front, restaurants etc. Very friendly helpful staff and spotlessly clean...

Review 61:On the whole we loved the place. Wi-fi was a bit on and off but that's the same everywhere. Really recommend!

Review 62:Very convenient and close to the little town. We were pleasantly surprised how easy it was, five minutes walk to everything. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Showers working very well. Definitely a good place to stay!

Review 63:An authentic hotel in the centre of beautiful Cadaques. We have ordered a double room with an extra bed and got a nice triple room with a balcony. The owner and the personnel are very helpful and even allowed to use threir fridge and microwave to cook porridge for my kids, who have allergy. The rooms are clean. Not very spacious, but we for short stays it does not matter. The entrance to the hotel parking is quite difficult, but my husband managed to park our renault scenic.

Review 64:A small fridge in the room would be really helpful. Wi-fi a bit hit and miss.

Review 65:Very good facilities: excellent shower, bath with plug that works, nice small balcony and big windows, comfortable bed, effective air conditioning. Friendly and helpful staff. Near beaches, restaurants, supermarket, old town. Very good value.

Review 66:The wifi was not very good on our bedroom on the second floor and we had to go to the landing in order to use it. It would have been great if the room had had a small fridge, minibar type.

Review 67:The location, the beautiful balconies and the cleanliness!

Review 68:breakfast OK. very helpfull staf. price OK. hotel are not for handicap people. hotel placed very close to centrum. it can be very hard to find a place to park your car! specialy "bigger" cars.

Review 92:The friendly staff at the reception. We stayed in room 404, a beautiful view of the mountains and Cadaques. Hotel is located at the old town .

Review 93:Excellent location, right at the heart of town and really friendly and helpful staff.

Review 94:very extremely parking and location of hotel but it's Cadaques!

Review 95:Personal was very hospitality and friendly!

Review 96:The location is wonderful, and the fact that they have an underground parking (it's incredibly hard to park otherwise). Value for money is great.
