Reviews for Puertobahia & SPA
Review 1:The spa was old- fashioned. We didn't like the colours that they use in the lights inside showers and saunas. More smooth colour would make it way more comfortable and calming.
Review 2:Walls between rooms a little thin. Breakfast was very disappointing with no hot food and awful concentrated orange juice in peak orange season. It was a half price breakfast but I avoided it for the rest of the stay.
Review 3:Helpful staff and close to bars and restaurants. Nice large balcony with sea view.
Review 4:Everything was fine - great position with a magnificent balcony view of the bay of Cadiz. Spa circuit was good for 11 euros - and the small inside pool is free
Review 5:It is a bit tricky to find the place, but nothing really serious.
Review 6:The staff is really nice and the accommodations are just great. The views are also beautiful. Outside the room there is an area with swimming pool and chairs that any guest will just love.
Review 7:Really big hotel and great for a night or so. Wonderful Italian Pizzeria ("Maria Regina Pizzeria") just 5 minute walk! Good service as well.
Review 8:The bedroom walls are a little thin so you can hear some noise, but wasn't that intrusive.
Review 9:The huge, deep swimming pool! The cleanliness The location The spaciousness Fabulous promenade along a huge sandy beach
Review 10:We where travelling with a baby and the room smelled like cigarettes but they couldn´t give us another room. Extra cleaning didn´t help on the smell. One of us got an allergic reaction from the blanket on the bed.
Review 11:Close to the beach, a big swimming pool at the hotel and also a nice small pool for toddlers. A peaceful place.
Review 12:The food was poor. The pool bar was closed the day after we arrived and the pool closed two days later. This info was not given upon check in or booking.
Review 13:Good location near the beach. Hotel is comfortable and welcoming.
Review 14:Poor quality of daily room cleaning. To much noise in hotel's restaurant - waiters throw cutlery to the boxes what generate much noise!
Review 15:Good location, incredible view from the balcony, good food - tasty breakfasts and dinners. Nice, helpful personnel. Very close to one of the most beautiful beaches in the word :):):)
Review 16:Booking. com.au says hotel is 600m from railway station, but neglects to mention it is Valdegarana station, not Puerto de Santa Maria. Apart from the beach itself there is little of interest in Valdegarana. Can't blame the hotel for that though! Finally our aircon was noisy, with a rattle that precluded it's use at night.
Review 17:Facilities excellent; staff friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Hire bikes are excellent, and a fabulous way to get over to Puerto de Santa Maria.
Review 18:This point could be improved: the room could have been cleaner
Review 19:These points were brilliant: the outdoor swimming pool with relevant facilities (e.g. deck chairs, etc.), the room with a balcony and sea view, the proximity of the bus stop, the proximity of the beach, the spa treatments, the location of the hotel in general
Review 20:The bed was lumpy and creaky and the floors were not kept clean. The walls were thin, so you could hear your neighbours.
Review 21:The view from my balcony of the beach and the ocean was lovely. The breakfasts are excellent - lots of choice and very enjoyable. All staff are really friendly and lovely. The pool was lovely and relaxing.
Review 22:There was a spa and an indoor pool but you had to wear a swim cap and the charge to use the spa was 11euro per person. Also our room overlooked the carpark...and from 8.30am there was a lot of noise from the hotel staff- deliveries and lorries unloading.
Review 23:You can rent bikes directly from the hotel at a good price. The Beach is a 1 minute walk away.
Review 24:The hotel is very big and it gets crowdy and loud at the elevators and in the dining area. Exellent for families with small children but a bit too loud and loaded for a peaceful vacation.
Review 25:good location, close to a huge beach, the pool area is clean, the rooms are large
Review 26:Poor breakfast for the price. Location is good for the beach but not easy to get to the historic town which has better amenities.
Review 27:staff were helpful and responsive. Pool is very good.
Review 28:Was just staying one night the bedsare little uncomfortable. Close to the beach very nice property free parking arrived late and did not get to use in the at the facility very close to the beach
Review 29:The staff hardly spoke any English.
Review 30:There was always space around the swimming pool and it was not too noisy. The ocean view from the room was just gorgeous.
Review 31:The breakfast was very disapointning. We booked the hotel due to the Photo of the breakfast, it was very little Fruits and the pastery was not fresh.
Review 32:We loved the view from our balcony and the entertainment in the evening was fantastic ! The flamenco show was fantastic !
Review 33:The streets around are in very poor conditions (work unfinished)
Review 34:Was a great experience. Specially, mention to the person who ironed my shirt (Thursday 11-JUNE) spite of the late, she made an incredible work (many thanks), and the lady in the spa/pool who was very kind.
Review 35:It was very hard to find someone to communicate with. I speak 3 languages and yet I could barley squeek through a conversation in any language other than spanish (which I don't know). When I asked for directions somewhere I was told 500m. So I walked around the hotel in every direction for an hour, came back and said I couldn't find it. So he told me (in spanish) something I didn't understand. They weren't ready or willing to help. A big change from Morocco, where we had just come from. The lunch was so gnarly. Honestly it's cheaper to eat out of the hotel and yummier. No luggage carts, so for those backpackers with heavy bags ask for a lower level room. The whole area was not accommodating for someone who doesn't speak Spanish though. So really keep that in mind as a foreign tourist. I had trouble getting by in English, French and German... although I found 2 people who spoke French in the 5 days we were there. Also this is a very family oriented resort. So expect children everywhere you step. Really don't recommend it for singles or people who are on a child free vacation.
Review 36:The room was nice. Good, chilly A/C. The bathroom was nice and the breakfast was good. The beach was very close, but there's better beaches around.
Review 37:I didn't like the bed. We wanted a double bed but there wasn't one available and the single beds were small and the matress hard.
Review 38:The outdoor pool was a great size and surrounded by a nice grass area with plenty of sunbeds. Nice size room and good bathroom. Lovely sea view. Plenty of variety for breakfast. Sensible bar prices. The Spa was very good too.
Review 39:The smell in the reception area! Room was a bit on the small side but ok for a 3 day stay.
Review 40:Pool area and grounds was very spacias and well layed out, buffey style brekfast plenty of choice
Review 41:The half board option was not worth it, breakfast was ok but the other meals were poor and there we often found raw parts to the grilled meat and fish. Breakfast was nice but the other meals felt a bit to much like a school canteen rather than a three star hotel.
Review 42:The room was nice, the bar and layout of the hotel was great. We didn't try the spa but it looked good and very clean. The pool was great especially on windy days and the train station is very close for trips to other, more interesting towns.
Review 43:1.
Review 45:The location was somewhat devoid of cultural charm. I would describe it as a generic resort experience that could have been situated in warm country, although the facilities were nice.
Review 46:Right on the beach, nice property. Everything was highly accessible for individuals with mobility issues / disabilities.
Review 47:Food was cold and didn't taste. We didn't even dared to try some dishes like fish or meat because they were so cold and were displayed for a while. Coffeemachine was out of order. Microwave to warm up food and drinks. At dinner we ate a salad, breakfast we had at the boulevard, didn't want to eat there anymore. Bed was horrible. Bathroom was small and shower was broken. Water came into the lamp when having a shower, dangerous. Airco was dirty with fungus, it was to hot to sleep so we had to sleep with the door open. Unfriendly staff, no towels for the swimmingpool, not even to rent. Swimmingpool and spa only open 2 hours in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. Happy to leave, will never ever stay there again.
Review 48:View from our balcony.
Review 49:Nothing, everything was prefect
Review 50:Fantastic location, with get beach. We traveled over for the MotoGP and this place was amazing. It felt like every biker that was at the track that day traveled to the coastline after the track, it was bike p0rn :-)
Review 51:Buffet evening meal. Give it a miss. Staff on a evening are not happy workers and you can see it in the quality of food on offer. Looks like it's been there all week. Custard and Rick tea biscuit desert ! Breakfast was brill., don't miss that..
Review 52:Breakfast was great. Try the local shop for the traditional sherry
Review 53:The shower was too small to accommodate someone with disabilities. There was no kettle in the room which would have been nice. Breakfast choice was poor.
Review 54:The room was adequate. The place was clean and location was nice.
Review 55:They gave us the top floor (6th) on the corner because we went during the slow season and we got the best view of the ocean. Breakfast was incredible, a large buffet with plenty of fruit. Clean, great location and nice staff. No complaints.
Review 56:Bed in room 224 was comfortable but creaked annoyling even when getting in and out. I have never slept in a such an irritating bed.Hope I was just unlucky and won't put me off booking next year.
Review 57:Hotel was 100 yards from a beautiful clean beach & beach bar, typical Spanish diners & bars. Friendly staff, clean accommodation and good views.Large pool/sunlounge area.Been to a few hotels in the same area over the years and this is the best.
Review 58:The breakfast consists of a very wide selection, with something for everyone, I suspect even the fussiest diner. Having said that, I was a little let down by the artificial juices and hot drinks.
Review 59:I wasn't really expecting too much from my stay here and it was just a mid-way stay on the way to my destination. The staff are very friendly, the facilities are very good, the hotel is especially clean and modern. Way beyond my expectations. The room was comfortable and well furnished, clean and relatively modern. There is a lot of onsite free parking and free wifi.
Review 60:Only thing a would like better, was the foodconcept. It could be a litle bigger meny for hungry turist. Maybe its much better in the high seson.
Review 61:Fantastic place to stay, of seson. The heating pump in the room, make it nice and warm, also in days with cold nites. We was a few days to early to try the swimingpool, but it looks like a very nice area.
Review 62:- design of the bathroom could be more modern - wifi had very poor signal, sometimes it seemed fair signal but when connected, the internet was not working at times
Review 63:- very good location close to the beach, restaurants and Cádiz, making it a perfect "base" to stay in order to relax and visit the area
Review 64:View to the sea. Endless beach. Hotel pool already open this early in the year. Parking options at hotel no problem. Quiet. Very friendly personnel.
Review 65:It is too far from Cadiz city centre. The distance by road is actually 22 km, not the 7.8 km indicated on booking.com. Taxi took almost 30 min and cost 30 euros. There is a local train that takes 40 min but it only runs once in an hour. Bathroom was not completely clean: found traces after previous guest. At the breakfast buffet I found a dirty spoon among the clean ones. Staff spoke poor English. The telephone in my room did not work and they could neither fix it nor replace it.
Review 66:The breakfast buffet included free champagne.
Review 67:Food was disgusting and cold, service at the restaurant very poor. We got our drinks when we almost finished our meal.
Review 68:Beautiful view, confortable bed, close to the restaurants and beach!
Review 69:Just hope that you aren't placed next to noisy neighbours, as there is no soundproofing. We could hear the whole phone conversation from one side and know what tv show the other room was watching. Not ideal. We also got a twin room, despite booking a double and were told that doubles weren't available after we had checked in.
Review 70:Nice beach views and facilities (although you need to pay to use the pool/spa, or at the very least hire swimming caps and slippers to use it)
Review 71:Hotel did not honour our request for a double bed, so we had two single beds. Poor heating on a cold spell in February. Had to ask for extra blankets. Spa sauna was broken, otherwise good spa.
Review 72:Nice spa and massage. Short drive to town. Just next to fantastic beach. Free parking. Free wifi.
Review 73:The walls of the rooms are very thin. We could hear every word of a conversation in the room next door.
Review 74:Cleanliness of hotel. Restaurant offer was good but size of dining room was more like a work cafeteria.
Review 75:The buffet was not as advertised. It was shockingly bad in the evening. We immediately cancelled our half board after the first night.
Review 76:The pool/spa was great but children only allowed in 2hrs per day
Review 77:This hotel felt great from the entrance hall up to the room itself. Good friendly service, very relaxed wellness-like a bit luxurious look and feel. The room was spacious, comfortable, included a desk and chairs, good pillows and bed, nice bath. Overall it was a pleasant experience, including watching the sea from our balcony. We can imagine that this hotel is a lot pricier during peak season (the receptionist unfortunately didn't speak English well enough to understand the question about peak season prices which was just about the only one downside of our one night stay).
Review 78:Only one small remark. It could be much easier to have in restaurant english version of menu or minimum one waiter who can translate Menu from spanish to english language
Review 79:very good location and view from the room for the beach and sea. Nice and quiet hotel
Review 80:No hair dryers in the room. Breakfast was adequate but not particularly special
Review 81:Our room with a balcony had an excellent view of white sandy beach. Unfortunately because we stayed out of season most restaurants were closed in the evenings. Excellent outdoor swimming pool. Good location. Good train connections to Cadiz reception staff very helpful. Good value for money
Review 82:Staff asked us passport and not identity card also if we are European... Breakfast Spa
Review 83:The room, the beach in front of the balcony Swimming pool The view
Review 84:With such a lovely hotel why oh why no hairdryers!
Review 85:We requested a beach view and double bed and got both. Hotel very clean. Although out of season plenty of restaurants open at night. Had we stayed longer would definitely have used the Spa.
Review 86:- Strong air freshener smell in all public rooms - Music till late hours on the stage that affects all the seaview rooms. If you want silence before 12:30AM, don't get a seaview room - Loud, dated air condition units placed on the balconies - No certainty when booking a room if it will be a twin or double (we first got double, managed to change after first night, but it is a matter of luck) - two small elevators are not enough for such a big hotel - too expensive for what it is
Review 87:- Right on the beach - Friendly cleaning staff
Review 88:We didn't like the smell from the restaurants below sometimes (we were located on the 5th floor)
Review 89:It was a nice comfortable room, and a lot of parking place. Nice location, near the beach, nice food around the hotel.
Review 90:predominant perfume air through the hotel poor cleaning, hair and dirt under the sink small bathroom shower curtains
Review 91:good location near beach free parking
Review 92:The reception staff were not overly polite and the room had a pull-out bed. The wifi connection didn't work on two of our devices.
Review 93:The swimming pool area and reception. The cleanliness of the room.
Review 94:No es confortable
Review 95:Las vistas
Review 96:construction during stay

Review 108:Great location and the room with the sea view. Great breakfast
Review 109:Comfortable rooms, right by the beach and restaurants, with a swimming pool and putting green
Review 110:After season Valdegrana area very low in activity.
Review 111:Visit to Cadiz, town center Santa Maria, boulevard & beach.
Review 112:Sound insolation between rooms is non existent
Review 113:Beds and room size. Breakfast buffet isn't very good either.
Review 114:Rooms are tiny and beds are very uncomfortable
Review 115:Bed was really uncomfortable. No nightlife, at all.
Review 116:Location and views were excellent. Nice restaurants at the bottom of the hotel.
Review 117:Friendly staff, clean and comfortable and an excellent pool - nice and large.
Review 118:Pillows were to flat for hour likeing
Review 119:Location was perfect just beside the breach Selection and quality of food was great
Review 120:poor insonorisation between the rooms
Review 121:the huge swimming pool and gardens, the location so close to the beach
Review 122:very close to the beach, great sea view from room, beautiful swimming pool, free parking
Review 123:Excellent Beach, Nice view, Strandart Breakfast.
Review 124:breakfast didn't start until 8 am
