Reviews for Hotel Alvaro

Review 1:Good location, out of the tourist frenzie near the port, yet within walking distance down the road and a quick taxi ride back if you don't want to walk up the hill.

Review 2:Amelia - the receptionist was so kind, she is an example of a real professional...it was how we felt-like in a 5 star hotel! Lea and Rastislav from Slovakia

Review 3:The breakfast is not included in the price of the room. If you want to have it, it´s 3 eur pp. I believe you can find something better for this price around or by going to any bakery.

Review 4:It was a bit pricey compared to other Spanish hotels given the location and facilities. The room was a bit hot at night even with the window open.

Review 5:This was a nice hotel with a clean room, friendly staff and a pleasant breakfast. It is a drive or long walk from Cudillero but if you don't want to venture into the busy town there is a good restuarant down the road.

Review 6:The drive into Cudillero is further than expected and not for the faint hearted. Parking everywhere is a problem in August!

Review 7:Location convenient for beaches and Cudillero. Good parking.

Review 8:We stayed as an overnight stop having got the ferry to Gijon. It was a doable drive from Gijon and great value for an overnight stop. For the money the room was quite large and comfortable with a decent en suite. The breakfast was cheap and quite adequate.

Review 9:The room smelt of cats piss and this is hard to overcome!!! We left our coffee bag packet open in the room to try to get this out but to little avail!! They had a plug in smelly thing in the room so I think that they knew there was a problem but that was little help to us.These hotels should make sure that pets stay out of the rooms if they allow them to be bought on holiday, pets and hotel room dont mix well as the pet owners know that they leave their problems behind- often for the nexy occupant!!

Review 10:This hotel is in a good spot just out of Cuddelro village meaning that you can park easily and get in and out easy- the village is very tight and hardly any parking except on the wharf. It was clean and fascilities were good but see the didnt likes!!!

Review 11:Can't think of anything.

Review 12:welcoming family run hotel which was very clean, comfortable and excellent value for money. Room was a good size and well decorated. Good security. Communal conservatory seating area outwith rooms. Parking facilities if you have a car. The location was great for me but for those who want to be right in Cudillero it might not be - it's a 20 minute walk or so to Cudillero. I liked the location as it was nice to walk to Cudillero but not stay right in the main tourist part and it also meant I could walk to the lovely beach Playa Aguilar in the opposite direction which is about 30 minute walk. There is a pub which serves food 2 minutes away and a restaurant just over 5. The PitoPinera feve is less than 10 minutes from the hotel and the hotel itself is right on the road to Cudillero.

Review 13:Tile floors are not very comfortable in such a humid environment, the room was either hot or cold, there was one long pillow for two people to share. Who does that? A sadist? In general, I did not feel comfortable in the room. Also, when I went to talk to the hotel managers about the hair dryer in my room not working, the woman refused to give me another hair dryer because it worked in the office, she wanted me to walk all the way back and confirm AGAIN, that it was not working. And indeed, it was not working when I got back but I just gave up and air dried my hair. Spanish customer service is pretty bad in general, but not everywhere.

Review 14:I liked that it was clean and it was a good value for the money. I also liked that there was shower gel and soap available.

Review 15:Too remote from restaurants. Local restaurant was very basic and not very good, had to travel into Cudillero ( 2 kms ) to eat, but had to take the car as the route down to Cudillero was very steep, a real problem coming back to the hotel at El Pito and it meant that one of us could not drink !!

Review 16:The hotel was an excellent base for our tour of Asturias. Staff were very helpful and pleasant, nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We had a superior room with a balcony to sit overlooking the garden. Breakfast was very basic but well worth the 3 euros that they charge. It was a budget hotel but had everything that we needed, would highly recommend it. Can highly recommend the local Bar El Centro, for a drink, very cheap and friendly!!

Review 17:The location wasn't in Cudellero it was in El Pita a small hamlet about 2ks up a hill from Cudellero.

Review 36:Easy access by car. Large parking area.

Review 37:The walk back up the hill from the village might put some people off.But we found it a good 20 mins excercise to burn off the calories

Review 38:Lovely room in the garden with a big shared balcony with great viewsover the countryside. Loved the underfloor heating in the bathroom.Breakfast quite basic, but good value a 3 euros each

Review 39:Friendly, helpful family owned and run small hotel. Cosy and comfortable room. Loved the village, and the walk down to the water and restaurants. Just the most gorgeous coastal setting.

Review 40:Very helpful advice about nearby restaurants and driving into Cudillero. There is a good restaurant serving reasonably priced Asturian foodwithin walking distance and driving directly into the narrow streets ofCudillero is not recommended!

Review 41:Even though we stayed just for one day we really appreciated the nice, quiet atmosphere of this small hotel so close the Atlantic coast and the beaches. The price, breakfast included, is really good for the facilities it offers.

Review 42:This a a wonderful hotel, just outside Cudillero, and exactly on the pilgrim road. Also a FEVE train stops at walking distance (5 min). The rooms are perectly clean, and well presented. The tv set works without problems.

Review 43:Liked it all, thanks

Review 44:Lovely quiet location above the village, with good local restaurants and access to local FEVE railway. Room was clean and comfortable with free donuts daily. Off street parking was good.
