Reviews for Zenit San Sebastián

Review 1:Perhaps a bit far from the old town My busband found the parking area a bit difficult

Review 2:Lovely reception area and bar Helpful staff Comfortable room with all mod-cons

Review 3:My husband thought the air conditioning left the bedroom a little dry. I thought it was ok though.

Review 4:The comfortable bed. The cleanliness. The bright and sophisticated decor. The friendliness of the staff.

Review 5:Nothing.. We are staying the night here again on our return trip from the Algarve & will be relieved to see the hotel at the end of a long drive.

Review 6:The secure car parking is excellent, as we were en route to a destination further south I didn't really want to fully in pack the car & I felt safe to do so.

Review 7:Room smaller than expected, tiny beds. A little outside the old city center where the bars and pintxos are, about a 25 minute walk. A respect to that quite expensive. Pool on rooftop is a big disappointment (cold and tiny).

Review 8:Clean hotel, friendly staff, good breakfast, easy acces carparking.

Review 9:The staff was a bit rude. Specially the people in the breakfast. Too young and inexperienced. Huge mess at the breakfast buffet

Review 10:Clean and new construction

Review 11:The hotel was difficult to find as the address is not recognised by sat. nav. We ended up phoning the hotel and got another place to enter to get there.

Review 12:This is a wonderful new and modern hotel with great size bedrooms, sun terrace and secure underground parking.

Review 13:It was a modern hotel with high level of comfort and facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful and was easy walking distance to main part of town. Being a little way out of main centre it was very quiet

Review 14:The fact that the hot-tub on the roof wasn't working and parking was expensive but having said that, there was availability on the street just around the corner from the hotel where you could park for 4 euros per day.

Review 15:We liked the location as we prefer not to be in the middle of the main tourist attractions. If you don't mind a 10min walk to the beach or 20min to the old town then this place is perfect. The rooms are nice and spacious and kept very clean.

Review 16:This is the first time we have stayed in a Zenit hotel but it won't be the last, our experience was excellent from start to finish and we were very impressed. When we initially checked in the service at reception was friendly, professional and welcoming. There was a problem with parking our motorhome as it wouldn't fit in the underground car park (a miss-communication with our booking), but the receptionist (Enetz ?) sorted everything out quickly and efficiently with minimum hassle for us - great service and he is a credit to the organisation. The room was great, modern and trendy design, plenty of space, very big and comfortable bed, excellent free WI-FI. The food in the restaurant is very good - traditional / local dishes, well cooked and excellent value for money - three courses, bread, water and a bottle of wine between two for 20 euros each - incredible value for such nice food. Finally the staff in the restaurant were very good, in fact all of the staff here were excellent - I will definitely look out for a Zenit hotel again next time we travel.

Review 17:Location is a fair walk from the city centre. Breakfast is pretty uninspiring; mainly processed food - no fresh coffee or freshly baked croissants. Quality of breakfast options on display not very high, but this is a mid-range chain hotel, so expected. Recommend to take breakfast in town. Its San Sebastian after all.

Review 18:Modern business hotel. Large showers. Secure underground parking with direct lift access to hotel.

Review 19:Breakfast was average for a 4 star hotel. The rooms are small, I am not sure how you could stay for longer than 2/3 nights, not enough room for luggage/belongings. Location not an issue if you don't mind a 15 min walk into town. Rooms at the back are directly on a busy main road which means you can't really open a window at night.

Review 20:Very new and contemporary, staff excellent, multi lingual reception staff, very helpful.

Review 21:Advertised hot tub was constantly cold and therefore un-usable. Parking was adjusted after initially was told there would be a fee. TV kept getting mixed reception.

Review 22:Good location, adequate facilities, parking for hire car.

Review 23:Staff at reception was non smiling and inefficient and not very accommodating. The bed was too hard. The coffee and juice at breakfast were 'cheap'.

Review 24:Hotel with a very nice design, new, and clean. Good internet connection.

Review 25:Very comfortable spacious room. Lovely rain shower in separate shower unit. Also had jacuzzi in bath. 15-20 mins walk only to main attractions of La Concha and the old town. Extremely helpful and lovely staff. Secure underground car parking available and easy to find.

Review 26:No bad experiences at all.

Review 27:The location is about 15/20 minutes easy walk to the old town. However there is ample public transport nearby if needed. We had a car and parking was available on site (for a fee) and it was easy to drive into central San Sebastian with ample car paking available. Again a fee for parking is charged, but the rates are very reasonable. We paid approximately 5/6 euros for 4 - 5 hours parking. The Zenit is a great hotel, modern, clean and the staff are fantastic. If you don't mind walking a little bit, I strongly recommend the hotel.

Review 28:Male staff in restaurant/bar were not customer focussed The Bath/shower was not easy to use with the fixed panel obstructing access to controls The desk space in the bedroom is too small

Review 29:Clean room Helpful reception

Review 30:Expensive breakfast is not very appetising and disappointing not included in huge room rate. Too expensive €60 for a family family breakfast Pity no drinks or drinks machine on roof terrace

Review 31:Clean, modern hotel

Review 32:Recent Zenit purchase so neither the Hotel, or the small street the entrance is actually in, showed up on my Sat Nav, although it can be see from a main thoroughfare, IF you know what to look for.

Review 33:Modern, spotless,staff, parking.

Review 34:15 minute walk to city centre and 20-25 minute walk to old town. underground parking garage a little difficult to navigate (additional 15 euros per night, but essential given the difficulty to park in town). Rooftop Jacuzzi a nice extra, but water needs to be a lot warmer.

Review 35:Clean, contemporary and new hotel with large rooms, excellent beds, terrific showers, and a friendly and helpful front desk staff.

Review 36:Although quite a hike to the old town and the best shops, it has plenty of parking and is easy to find without risking driving into the town. In reality it is only 15 minutes walk and there are plenty of lovely shops and a Cathedral to visit on the way. The hotel is new and well fitted out; the rooms are large and comfortable; the breakfast is excellent - we ate all other meals in Centro and old town (delightful).

Review 37:Parking options are not ideal and are to be found 3 floors under ground. The parking spaces are tight, as is the driveway to the hotel's designated parking area. It was very difficult to access the parking space assigned to me because the car in the neighbouring space had parked intruding into the space assigned to me. The hotel's location was not ideal for holiday makers because it is about 30 mins walk from the tourist areas i.e. the beach area, the harbour and the old town. It would probably suit business visitors better.

Review 38:The hotel is very comfortable, modern and stylish. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly.

Review 39:The air-conditioning is very temperamental and, although it is excellent when it is working, a lot of the time it just seems to switch off completely - which made for two rather uncomfortable nights. There is a desperate need for a second coffee machine for breakfast. The sight of four people, some carrying two cups, queuing to get a cup of coffee at breakfast is frankly not what I would expect to find in an hotel with four stars. Otherwise the breakfast was excellent.

Review 40:The staff were all very helpful and friendly - especially as my Spanish is fairly limited!

Review 41:The restaurant is really more a canteen with a very limited menu and ikea furniture. The rooms too are not furnished with 4 star comfort, but with cheapo chipboard and uncomfortable mattresses

Review 42:Clean modern hotel and friendly staff

Review 43:Rooms stifling hot, no ventilation. Rooms dark and small opening onto very busy dual lane road. Tiny bar area. Very poor value for money. Would not recommend.

Review 44:It's a long walk to anything of interest and the location is not great, photos look like a pool but it's a tiny spa, wifi is limited to the room only - it wasn't available through the rest of the hotel facilities

Review 45:Rooms were comfortsbe and stylish, there is parking available

Review 46:The hotel is a little way out of the main centre of town, and is surrounded by high-rise apartments that look into the hotel, and a noisy main road. Whist it's a nice hotel, I would not stay there again due to the location.

Review 47:The wash basin cabinets were not in the bathroom for the junior suite

Review 48:Large modern new rooms...staff spoke english and were extremely helpful considering how busy the foyer was...

Review 49:We spent a week at this flophouse. The hotel is very noisy as almost all the rooms are located adjacent to a traffic roundabout and a main street with heavy traffic. Breakfast has a variety of a youth hostel, e.g. one black tea at cheapest quality. Coffee specialities are produced from instant coffee - no coffee beans! The food presentation on the buffet shows a lack of attention to detail and is unloving. Guest orientation does not exist. Examples: 1) You will not hear "Good morning!" but "¿Numero de habitacion?" in a harsch tone. 2) On the second day upon breakfast the hot water (self-service) dispenser was broken and we asked the waitress for a tea. Her answer: "If you don't mind go to the bar and ask for it there." 3) In the evening at 10:00 p.m. we went to the bar to have a drink. We were the only guests. The barkeeper was behind the bar. After ten minutes of waiting we got up and asked for the drinks at the bar counter. The surprising comment from the bar keeper: "I have been watching you for ten minutes, but we don't serve at the tables." When I asked why, he explained it was an order from the hotel management. Personally I don't mind self-service concepts. But they should not be marketed as a four star (hotel) service. Value for Money is a rip off at this place. This hotel - though open for just ten month - has already passed the zenith (peak).

Review 50:The Hotel has a nice modern design.

Review 51:Staff in the restaurant and bar seem very inexperienced. Little organisation over breakfast and food was very average i.e. fresh not two day old coissants are not much to ask for.

Review 52:Nice, simple but equally modern hotel and comfortable. Staff at reception very friendly and helpful.

Review 53:AC didnt work. Woke up every night swetting. AC turns autoamtic off every hour. Told the staff, they should handle it, nothing happend. Staff nice and polite, but.... 15 min to old town is to long. AC and distance to oldtown made this to a very expensive hotel. We moved nearer beach for the same price.

Review 54:Nice style.

Review 55:Sterile atmosphere. Absolutely no service whatsoever. Was aware of location but like exercise so that wasn't a problem but this could be for some. Asked for an iron, that never came. Asked grumpy guy in front of restaurant for a cup of hot water & that was asking way too much also. Had breakfast once & that was enough , it was of the poorest standard I have encountered. Currently staying in a 3 star in Venice & the breakfast & service is ten times what the zenit offered, which was virtually nil! Overpriced for nothing more than s bed & shower fir the night. Really, really disappointing

Review 56:Very little! The only good points about this hotel is the fact that it's new & therefore looking pretty clean & has nice timber floor boards as opposed to unhygienic carpet like lots of hotels. Good shower.

Review 57:This hotel is spoilt by the quality and lack of adequate quantity of food for guests at breakfast. Food was slow to be replenished and the coffee machine faulty Breakfast staff seemed to be harried which resulted in terse comments

Review 58:Nice modern room

Review 59:For first time visitors the location of the hotel is a bit too far from the action of San Sebastian which, is based around the old town (tapas) and the beaches. We were perhaps expecting more people to speak english, be prepared that you may sometimes struggle with communication if you don't speak spanish. The jacuzzi is not heated enough for the cooler San Sebastian weather.

Review 60:The design of the hotel was nice and modern, the room was comfortable and clean. The staff were helpful and couteous.

Review 61:Breakfast (only basic choice and low quality) Location Look and feel of the building and surrounding area Toilet paper ans shower gel were not replenished, so we had to go to the reception to ask for it when we ran out.

Review 62:Spacious room

Review 63:Could have been a bit closer but for 1 night it was fine and for longer stays there are lots of buses straight to the beach.

Review 64:Decor of hotel very nice, staff helpful. Secure parking good.

Review 65:The situation of hotel was around a 20min brisk walk to the centre. There were buses but we felt quicker to walk.

Review 66:helpful and friendly staff. Clean rooms.

Review 67:Coffee not good at breakfast

Review 68:Good location - nice to have a walk home after dinner. Easy walk to the beach, train station etc. Good breakfast selection.

Review 69:It was extremely hard to enter into the Parking. Instructions for opening the door was not clear at all. We were not the only persons with that problem.

Review 70:The design of the hotel including restaurant and the room. Breakfast was very good.

Review 71:I booked on the basis that hotel had a small pool, turned out to be a Jacuzzi, was said to be in the Old Town but was not, no local bars or sops close by.

Review 72:The room and bed were really good anf the staff very helpful

Review 73:Horrible bed, only suitable if you like sleeping on concrete. AC only works for a limited period of time, you wake up mang times during the night bevares the AC has been switched off and the room is hot and with poor air quality. Only the cheapest of foods for beakfast. It feels like a hostel, not a hotel.

Review 74:Good size bedroom Nice common areas on the ground floor Good wifi

Review 75:We had dinner in the hotel. The menu was good, but the service was not. During the dinner, the waiter was preparing the breakfast for the next morning. The breakfast was poor and the service was very bad. The tables were not cleaned quickly enough, and the staff was very slow. The hotel was not in walking distance from the center, but there was a good bus connection nearby the hotel.

Review 76:The design in the hotel and the room was very nice and the room was quiet. There was a nice roof top terrace with a jacuzzi.

Review 77:First bed too small - had to ask to move to Twin. Poor location, long walk into town and by a big main road. Hotels with much prettier views and scenery in town. Expensive for what it was.

Review 78:Nice modern facilities. Good decor.

Review 79:Sink stopper would not work. Attempt at repair failed by maintenance for duration of our stay.

Review 80:Very modern. Had to learn a few tricks to get things to work.

Review 81:The air conditioning goes off throughout the night so we didn't have 1 full nights sleep and one night the fire alarm went off at 2am and we all went downstairs and stood outside and the man on reception was too busy panicking to tell us everything was ok and that we could go back up, we eventually just went back up without him saying anything to us. Breakfast as too expensive when the room was already a high rate so we just went to a local bakery. Our room didn't get cleaned one day. We wanted to stay another night but the price was so much higher than before we didn't and it was that same day- they probably didn't get anyone to fill the remaining rooms. A long walk to the main part of town, fine for us as we like walking but the walk did start to get a bit boring doing it 4 times a day.

Review 82:Clean and comfy good wifi

Review 83:Location - off the beaten track and not a particularly nice walk into the old town from here.

Review 84:The rooms were clean and comfortable, although a little basic/ minimalist, if you get the room type you actually request.

Review 85:Breakfast was not up to the standard of other similar hotels in Spain but was perfectly adequate.

Review 86:Modern hotel with spacious rooms and helpful staff. Beds are comfortable and air con is quiet and effective

Review 87:The hotel does not have the best location to the city center and beaches but it was an easy 15 minute walk.

Review 88:Hotel was clean and comfortable with spacious rooms. The staff were always friendly and helpful.

Review 89:Long wait at reception, not the fault of the one overworked receptionist.

Review 90:Spacious modern, clean room, light-filled lobby and bar, friendly and very helpful reception staff.

Review 91:It is definitely not a 4* hotel, not sure how they received those stars. Zenit is my third hotel in San Sebastian and unlike the rest; they don't provide a luggage service (you have to carry your own), don't have complimentary bikes (but directs you to their so called rental service which is twice expensive than the rest), don't upgrade honeymooners, wi-fi is super slow and the personnel is not charming at all There is more, the terrace looks very nice in the photos with the jakuzi but it is not open until the "official" summer which is apparently end of june!! The coffee and tea in the breakfast is self service from a 3rd class automat and also, hotel is far away from old town, they say 15 min. but in fact more than 25 min walk.

Review 92:Hotel design

Review 93:We have stayed in this hotel before and there continue to be problems with the Wifi. It eventually works but it's not straightforward. The plugs in our room - again - would not accept our absolutely standard european 2 plug adapters. The mini-bar fridge didn't work. It's a great place to stay but there are a few kinks to iron out. Also the toilets in the lobby areas aren't regularly cleaned

Review 94:The staff at the desk are all incredibly helpful and speak excellent English. The bar is quiet and comfortable, as are the rooms

Review 95:Staff at Breakfast has to learn to count to 10 in English, so giving the room-number-info runs smoother. The plastic around the soap is too thick. It took me a few minutes to unpack the soap:-)

Review 96:Everything OK except some details. Very seldom we have so good Wi-Fi in Spain (or any other country in Southern-Europe)

Review 97:Room was far too warm and it was chilly outside! Car parking wasn't for the fainthearted, underneath hotel in a maze of pillars that the Minotaur would have enjoyed. Restaurant looked great but was very disappointed in the quality of food. Had to send steak back twice to have cooked (only then to medium-rare), next evening the blood from my burger was dripping into the roll so it had to go back again for further cooking. Traffic was noisy, if windows were left open.

Review 98:Reception staff were very helpful. Room was modern and clean.

Review 99:Faulty air conditioning (auto shut-off if no movement detected) and excessive road noise when windows were open to alleviate a south facing room that was too hot in the evenings for my liking.

Review 100:The amount of exercise I chose to do by walking from the hotel to San Sebastian's attractions.

Review 101:Hotel is not located in a convenient area for access to old town or the beach (20-30 min walk). Poor breakfast.

Review 102:The hotel was new and clean with a simple modern design. Staff was friendly and willing to help.

Review 103:Breakfast was rather basic and not great quality. Nothing scenic at all about location.

Review 104:Reasonable hotel, located near bus station which is handy but a 15 minute walk from town centre and beaches.

Review 105:Quite a way from the main town, and coffee at breakfast was poor. Bathroom was good, but subj and bath were very slow to drain and toilet flush was temperamental

Review 106:Staff were great, and location was good for the bus station

Review 107:WIFI works only in the room. Different system in the rest of hotel but they do not inform about it.

Review 108:Good design hotel Just 15 minutes walk to The centrum

Review 109:Had to wait 15 minutes for check-in since two out of three staff members were more interested in their computer than in me. Double-charged me at first and took a lot of time to clear that (remains to be seen if it is cleared...)

Review 110:The staff in the restaurant

Review 111:The hotel is built next to the freeway and so if you have a room on that side of the building, bring your earplugs!! Also, the rooms are a bit airless because you can't open the window for long due to the cars roaring up and down outside the window. Never did figure out the aircon and the room was stuffy as a result - and that was in a very chilly May. Also, no coffee or tea making facilities (not sure if this is normal in Spain) but it was quite annoying as we never made breakfast, not that it was included. Parking was 16Euros a night too. The photo used on booking.com was misleading.. there is no roof top bar and hot tub.. well, if there is, we never found it! One other thing... this hotel is tricky to find as it's tucked round the back of a lot of flats and one side is on a big main road.

Review 112:The rooms are clean and comfortable, the wifi good and staff nice. Hotel restaurant was nice too.

Review 113:Friendly helpful staff especially in reception and water in bar and restaurant. Ultra modern, minimalist decor. spotlessly clean and near to town centre

Review 114:Distance from old town was approx 20 min brisk walk, fine if dry. Hot tub wasnt open

Review 115:Simple but stylish & clean, no frills. Had everything but a spare toothbrush.

Review 116:Our room was too hot during the night but that issue was solved in a very professional way.

Review 117:The decoration of the hotel. The decoration of the rooms. The restaurant. Very professional & friendly staff. Walking distance to the center.

Review 118:We wanted a light supper one evening - could not be bothered taking the bus to the old town about 15 mins away. Restaurant choice was limited and food delivered was very poor - tasteless, wafer thin and wet turkey breast sandwich. Car parking is now chargeable, although they honoured our free parking booking.

Review 119:Front desk staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful - although we did get some unclear info about one of the bus services. Rooms were clean, well appointed and with good toiletries and the wifi was reliable and free.

Review 120:To say something negative: It's not in the city center and in an area where there is nothing. It takes 15min walking and 5 by car to City Center. A bit overpriced since it's not in the center but it's San Sebastian...

Review 121:Good hotel in a city where it's difficult to find a new hotel with comfortable areas if you don't want to pay too much.

Review 122:Expensive stay but to be expected of probably the most expensive city in Spain.

Review 123:Location is very nice. Just a short 10 minute walk to the cathedral and maybe 20 minutes to the 'parte vieja'.

Review 124:We liked everything about this hotel. The location was perfect, just 20 min walk from the playa de la Concha and old town. Great staff, very helpful, lovely design and clean room, nice breakfast..Highly recomended.

Review 125:Location is not great. Breakfast is horrible, it is cheaper and betteroutside. No amenities whatsoever, no gym, nothing at all. Terrace isonly usable for summer with view to housing who can see you. And anavenue. Loud. Bed is super small. Prices too high. Pictures aremisleading, photoshopped too to look bigger rooms. Staff at front deskwas not much of help when requesting umbrellas (In fact very rude). Tryto charge more money to get bigger beds. Bed ok for 1 person. 2 peoplevery uncomfortable. Next to a school, so during the day is not good.During the nigh weekend, very loud. Problem here if one wants to canceland have booked more dates, money is lose. Stay at another hotel. Ifstaying, call to verify it has what you need.

Review 126:Internet was good at the room. Nothing else

Review 127:The experience was a good one. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the Old Town, (and costs 10 euros in a cab) so it may not suit everyone, but we walked mostly. After all the delicious food and drink we felt we had to. And we discovered some hidden places on the way. Would stay here again for sure.

Review 128:On the second day I locked the car key inside the trunk and had to overnight a spare. Enetz - the lad working the front desk - took immediate charge, calmed the situation down and arranged for a locksmith he knew to come and help. In addition, the car was blocking a resident's space so Enetz placated this person too. We ended up staying an extra night as we waited for a spare key to be overnighted from the UK and were given the same cheap rate. Great, great staff, including his female colleague who was working the front desk in the morning.

Review 129:Room was a bit warm and with the window open, can hear some traffic, but the hotel is off the main street.

Review 130:Great wifi, comfortable bed and overhead showerheads.great for tall people! Breakfast is a bit pricey but you can get coffee and small roll in the bar. Good garage parking. Nice 15-20 walk to old city but many restaurants ,shopping close by.

Review 131:Room 314 is right next to the main road, and after traveling 7 hours we just wanted to sleep, but it was impossible with the traffic noise, and we had another 7 hours to travel the next day, so not good.

Review 132:a little bit far from the city center Misleading indication from the reception of the hotel: the personal did not warn us that for the new year almost evey restaurant was closed so we should have booked. As a result we struggled to find something open and ended eating some takeaway tapas in our hotel room.

Review 133:Confortable rooms, nice furniture Very clean Bathroom modern and very well equiped Breakfast ok

Review 134:We didn't expect too much before arrival, but it turned out to be a very nice stay. We were very impressed by the comfort level of the room, convenience of the location, and friendliness of the staff. It's definitely great value for the money.

Review 135:Bed was a bit hard, that's all.

Review 136:I have never had quite such a friendly reception, and only stayed for 1 night! Check out staff was very friendly too. Hotel looks nice and modern.

Review 137:Nothing. If we must be extremely picky, the hotel lobby was cold - we had to stay close to the fireplace when having a chat with friends, but if this keeps the hotel price low, we are perfectly fine with that.

Review 138:We particularly enjoyed the spotless room, reasonable and pracitical parking arrangement arranged by the front desk staff and overall attention paid to details of this hotel. The bed is very comfortable and the location is also very convenient.

Review 139:Location is OK, not great, 15 mins walking to old town. What I missed the most was a fitness center, not existing at all which I would have expected for a recently built hotel

Review 140:The staff was extremely friendly and helpful at all times. The hotel decoration is very nice, including the rooms.
