Reviews for Pension Kursaal
Review 1:Only minor item- Hard to find... they could do with a street sign, we had to ask another hotel on the same street.
Review 2:Great location... only 5 mins walk to main areas with restaurants and cafes squares etc only 2 mins to a nice beach. Room was spacious with large bathroom. pleasant staff & good value. we would definitealy stay here again
Review 3:GPS was not able to locate the street that the pension was on. Very limited breakfast but lots of places around to grab a bite.
Review 4:Excellent central location, friendly staff, nice clean, modern room.
Review 5:The building was covered with scaffolding. The workmen could look right into the room. The staff suggested keeping the blinds closed, but then I might as well have booked an interior room. I consider the room was inaccurately described.
Review 6:Good location close to the old town but not in it. The superior double is a good choice on weekends but not during the week until the workmen finish.
Review 7:- The street garbage receptacles outside located immediately under the little balcony in our room. If you like to sleep with the windows open at night - beware. One of the 2 days that we stayed, the smell was undearable.... Maybe if we had a different room, it wouldnt be that bad.
Review 8:- Good location. Close to the old town and not far from the beaches. - Very helpfull staff.
Review 9:Our room was particularly poorly ventilated. The only window opened onto a very small space with walls going up 6 stories so virtually no fresh air got in. The weather was mild but the room got very hot and stuffy. In mid-summer this must be a problem - there is no airconditioning.
Review 10:The whole 1st floor of a 19th century building has been transformed into a modern hotel with gay colours and every modern convenience. Breakfast served in room.
Review 11:Unfortunately in many hotels they still use the pcked, single shower gels, which are always difficult to open when wet, why not to put a normal bottle of shower gel into the bathrooms
Review 12:Location close to old city, parking opposite in public parking reduced to 12€ per 24h, clean rooms, small but sufficient rooms.
Review 13:There is no air con so the room was very hot in the summer. Hotel is located on busy road so it was not possible to have balcony door open at night due to noise. It was too hot to sleep sometimes.
Review 14:The staff were very nice & helpful. Especially Patricia. She gave us a bottle of cava to celebrate our honeymoon and printed our train tickets. Location is excellent.
Review 15:The room has window in skylight. When open the window we had bad smells. The main entrance is no restorative and has bad smell. We don't needed the 3d bed, it taken space for the room
Review 16:The helpful staff. The nearest parking
Review 17:Unfortunately there seemed to be a mould issue in the room we stayed in, it was quite bad in the shower even after we tried opening windows to ventilate the room.
Review 18:The location was excellent, easy to reach the old town and other parts of San Sebastián by foot. The staff were friendly and helpful also. The room was large and comfortable for our stay.
Review 19:Easy to hear other guests in hall but did bother us as bed was super comfy
Review 20:Loved everything! Spacious clean room great wifi friendly staff and powerful shower!!
Review 21:Very hard to locate as only a small sign on the wall near the front shared entrance, perhaps a detailed for parking and finding would be great.
Review 22:The big windows opening out, comfy bed, the helpful and friendly staff, clean, good wifi.
Review 23:The room was large and had a view of the ocean. It was walking distance to both beaches ( concha and zurriola). Lots of shops and restaurants nearby, great value.
Review 24:Quite noisy as there are rubbish bins right under the windows so I was woken in the morning by the garbage trucks, the hallways in the hotel are quite noisy with staff shuffling about in the mornings. The cleaning disinfectant was also overly strong.
Review 25:The location was great, right near the old town for pintxos bar hopping, shopping area and near the beach.
Review 26:Breakfast was poor quality sweet rolls . No savoury optios. No space In the room to comfortably eat breakfast. Room a little small but OK for the price.
Review 27:Excellent location. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 28:We enjoyed our modern, well-appointed room in this boutique hotel. Large bathroom, comfortable bed, plenty of closet space. The hotel is easy walking distance to the bay and to old town. We were especially impressed with the courtesy, kindness and helpfulness of the staff. Our special thanks to Patricia who patiently helped us in myriad ways to make our vacation memorable.
Review 29:It was a little noisy in the corridor after midnight as fellow guests returned from local bars.
Review 30:We were very impressed with the en suite, the double shower was great. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. It was very handy being able to park at the multi story across the road(for half price). We would definately stay again.
Review 31:We loved it. Recommend you park in the Kursaal underground parking which with the hotel discount comes to 12 eur per day. The staff were very helpful, recommended excellent areas for pintxos and lunch as well as things to see and do, the room was new, lovely shower. We liked the in the room breakfast as well which is not bad for 4 eur. You can walk everywhere from the hotel, there is a supermarket next door and they sell drinks and snacks at reception as well.
Review 32:Breakfast is available at a reasonable rate, but only as a fixed set served in the room.
Review 33:Perfect place to stay in San Sebastian with excellent value for money.
Review 34:- door is not sound proof, if people enter late it's well heard - they don't have a breakfast room, there is a breakfast you can order which is nice for 4 euro only, delivered to your room between 8 and 10 at the hour of your choice
Review 35:- nice location, right accross the casino Kursaal which gives you easy access to either the old part of town or the residencial area - rooms are quite big for a 2 star of that price range - option for breakfast at 4 euro: includes coffee or tea, two toasts and marmelade, orange joice and mini chocolate bread - friendly & helpful staff
Review 36:For this price there was nothing I didn't like.
Review 37:Location was excellent, across from the beach, restaurants and pharmacy in the street. The room had an en-suite bathroom and the price was very good. The staff were lovely at check in and helping us with timetables to get a bus to Bilbao airport. During my stay I had food poisoning and they graciously allowed us to have a late check out which was very much appreciated given my state.
Review 38:The lighting in the room is cold and unwelcoming at night. We would have liked a little more shampoo than the two little envelopes a day. While we could have breakfast in the room, there was only one very small table and chair. The street the balconies look out on is very noisy and if you want fresh air, not an option if you need quiet to sleep. Wifi connection is weak.
Review 39:Simple decoration, excellent closet, good bed and white linens. the location couldn't be better. Nothing fancy, but everything in working order and extremely clean.
Review 40:Parking was near but overpriced even with hotel discount
Review 41:The position of the hotel was within easily walking distance for for the beach and the old town. The room was basic but clean and good value.
Review 42:No obvious shortcomings
Review 43:- Very helpful staff with good English (Thank them very much!); - Good location (walking distance from city center, beach and other attractions; - Discount at a nearby municipal parking.
Review 44:This well located pension was excellent we had a balcony with very comfortable room and pleasing ensuite! Although we used the stairs for exercise we thought the lift was charming and matched the elegant entrance way with stained glass doors!
Review 45:Parking, although close was 25 eu per day
Review 46:A fantastic place to stay walking distance from all the beaches and old town. clean and new fittings excellent, helpful staff
Review 47:The rooms face the main street. Due to this we could not keep our windows open at night as there is a LOT of noise from outside. We were there in first week of October but it was still hot enough that we could not sleep with windows closed as they do not have air conditioner. We were really tired by the time we left San Sebastian due to lack of sleep on 4 nights. We would love to stay here in our next trip but we can't.
Review 48:1) The staff is excellent. They are on staff 24 hours a day. They accommodated our needs all the time. They spoke great English. 2) The rooms and bathrooms were VERY clean and tidy. 3) Discounted parking
Review 49:very expensive for what it is. there was one excellent member of staff, friendly and welcoming, but the others on shift were glum. noise of traffic.
Review 50:location, pillows, bright bathroom.
Review 51:Balcony is old on the street side, didn't dare to use it. Streetside rooms can be a little noisy because of the busy road
Review 52:Nice beds, close to the old center and the beach, great staff. Rooms are spacious and after walking around the city all day it felt really nice to relax a bit in the room. Parking across the street in garage with 50% discount, park your car first before checking in!
Review 53:difficult to find
Review 54:close to downtown, great pincho restaurants close by. basque museum close by
Review 55:Always prefer a room with a fridge.
Review 56:Great place with wonderful staff and lots of thoughtful little touches everywhere to make your stay more pleasant.
Review 57:Nothing
Review 58:Helpful and super clean. Close and convenient to everything
Review 59:Staff were pleasant and very helpful
Review 60:Very accommodating staff; nice sized room; super quiet, and close to activities in San Sebastián.
Review 61:Terrific modern designed room. Quiet, well located. Good breakfast. Friendly efficient staff with good advice re eating.
Review 62:Room little bit dark if you do not take front view
Review 63:Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Location is just great, right in the center. Comfortable bed, clean room, free WiFi.
Review 64:No exterior views.
Review 65:Helpful front desk.
Review 66:No minibar in the room
Review 67:Perfect location
Review 68:Great location and very helpful and friendly staff.
Review 69:Excellent location by the beach and near to the old town. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back.
Review 70:No air con
Review 71:Great location near the old town between the two beaches
Review 72:Location was amazing...
Review 73:The safe in our room didn't work very well
Review 74:Lovely clean comfy room, perfect location and extremely pleasant and helpful staff
Review 75:everything was perfect.. the only thing they should consider is aircondition in the room, because during the night it was crazy hot.
Review 76:Breakfast is brought to you in bed.
Review 77:Great location, very helpful and friendly staff. Not flash but very good value for money.
Review 78:Central llocation
Review 79:The room is quit clearn and very near by centre of city. I already visit two time. the pric is very good!
Review 80:Maria was particularly helpful with regard to the bars selling the best pinchos.
Review 81:It met all of our needs, we didnt stay in the hotel a lot during our stay.
Review 82:Bathroom
Review 83:just check the parking location before you go, it's really close but the pension is in a pedestrianised area
Review 84:Location very close to the old town. Good clean rooms, comfortable beds.
Review 85:Place was perfect location and quiet. Just a 10 minute walk to old town and beach
Review 86:San Sebastian is an expensive town and so the value for money is according to standard
Review 87:The accomodation is at a good place and all service is fine
Review 88:The location, the staff, the size of the room, the price, wi-fi
Review 89:Very close to the beach and walking distant to city center. Very friendly staff. Simple and practical hotel.
Review 90:We had an outer room, so I do not know how the inner rooms are like.
Review 91:Car park right over the street, 12 € per day flat rate. Convenience of the location. Nice breakfast restaurant opposite the bar 'People'. Strong WLAN.
Review 92:Great stay, lovely room with small balcony, 3 mins from Zurriola surf beach and just 10 mins to the old town. Plenty breakfast spots in local neighbourhood Gros-Dolce Hogar was nice. Thank you to the very obliging staff, full of info and provision of beach towels etc.
Review 93:Nothing! Would definitely recommend to friends wanting to stay somewhere in San Sebastián
Review 94:Good location, very clean, maid cleaned rooms every day and have fresh towels which is great for pensione. Staff spoke very good English. Give you beach towels to take down to beach if forgotten.
Review 95:- the bed linen was dirty and not acceptable, it was replaced once we reported it to the reception and we received a free breakfast because of that - the breakfast costs normally 4 EUR and you get an organe juice (which was not very good), an awful toasted bread, a good marmalade + a small pound cake which. It's better to walk 5 minutes to the city centre and buy a nice pinchos
Review 96:- the location is perfect - there is a discount for the parking and you pay half of the price which was really useful - the staff was really nice and helpful
Review 97:There is a window but there is just a wall in front of it and the room does not get any natural light at all.
Review 98:Modern room, big and modern bathroom, nice furniture.
Review 99:It was initially hard to find. We had to ask a policeman! Tge one way sysyem in Da Sebastian is crazy! Instructions on where to park before checking in would help on the website with a better map of how to get to the Kursaal Parking e.g. Park in Public Parking at the Kursaal and take ticket to the reception. The Pension is the first stairwell on the right as you look at the street from the promenade.
Review 100:Very helpful reception staff. Clean smart rooms. Convenient parking in the nearby Kursaal Parking for €12 per day. Breakfast served in the room.
Review 101:This is not a negative for us but there are 6 steps to the lift which might be a problem for anyone disabled.
Review 102:This is such a superb place to stay that we have booked a further night on our return to Asturias. Clean, quiet(Ok we did stay in January) and close to so much we wanted to do. Secure parking very close by for €12 a night. Also it was very easy to find.
Review 103:Located just across the road from La Zurriola beach (the surfing beach) and the Kursaal Congress Centre and Auditorium. It's an easy 5 mins minutes walk across the bridge to the main city centre, making it very convenient and yet safe & not noisy. It is a small place overall but the room was spacious, has a small balcony overlooking the street and the Auditorium, very comfortable, clean & cozy, real comfy bed & pillows too. There is constantly someone at the reception to assist you, and stocks of water & snacks should you require. Free wifi works great and the building has a funky lift too. Stayed 2 nights here, amazing! Will definitely stay at Pension Kursaal again when I'm back in San Sebastián.
Review 104:Lots of street noise even with window closed. No air circulation withoutopening window...which makes room really stuffy/warm.
Review 105:Location easy to find, secure parking nearby for discounted rate of 12euro per 24hr. Easy walking distance to old town/sites/beach.Good wifi, nice bathroom/shower. Budget-friendly.
Review 106:There were works next outside our window that woke us up early morningalthought we asked in the evening before a quiet room
Review 107:Ideally located next to the beach and at 5min walking distance fromshopping streets nice staff
Review 108:Liquid soap dispenser didn't work
Review 109:Quiet but close to both the beach and old quarter. Just a 15 minute, easy walk to the station. Staff very helpful.
Review 110:Perhaps a little expensive compared to other similar bookings that were 1/3 less in price!
Review 111:Great location; clean, bright room; helpful staff...all good!
Review 112:Price - when making the booking I was reluctant given I've stayed inequally nice places in Spain at half the price but all accommodation insan sebastian seems more expensive than elsewhere. In the end I stayedfor 5 nights and was happy to pay the price.
Review 113:Great location - away fron hustle and bustle but right next to Zurriolabeach and a few minutes to old town. Modern decor. Very good standardfor a pension.
Review 114:We ordered the breakfast after our first night (they don't have a dining room, but they offer cheap 4EUR breakfasts delivered to your room). I didn't expect much for that price, but the coffee was tepid, which I thought was a bit unacceptable. Location is quite central, but the downside is that it seems that a bunch of people hang around the Kursaal at night, and they are far too noisy, shouting at each other up until around 3am. We stayed in Parte Vieja the year before, where most of the pincho bars are -- and the noise wasn't as bad as the one being made by those who were hanging around the Kursaal.
Review 115:Very good B&B located just across the Kursaal (by Zurriola beach). Clean rooms and friendly staff. Certainly recommendable, and very good value for money!
Review 116:Very good location; right of the surf beach and close to the casco viejo where all the best pinchos places are located. Very comfortable rooms; spacious, clean, good beds, quiet, and brand new sanitary facilities.
Review 117:Really nice pension - like a tiny 4 star hotel; rooms were modern, spacious and spotlessly clean. Staff had English ranging from good enough to excellent and they were all very helpful. Location was also great; less than five mins walk from old town and directly opposite the Kursaal and Zurriola beach.
Review 118:The location of the hotel is excellent - on the side of Gros, but just a two minute walk away from the old town. The beach is just on the other side of the street.
Review 119:The Pension was all that you would need, very comfortable bed and clean spacious bathroom, had a window to a small outdoor space which was appreciated for some fresh air. The location was ideal for exploring San Sebastian and staff very very friendly.
Review 120:The bed was very squeaky. There was also construction starting above at9 am sharp, which is not the fault of the pension, but highlighted thethin walls.
Review 121:The location was killer - right across the street from the surf beach. The neighborhood has some fun bars and restaurants that have a differentvibe than old town.
The Fine Print
