Reviews for Josein

Review 1:The twin beds were not particularly comfortable by UK standards.

Review 2:All rooms have fantastic views of beach, headland and picturesque harbour. Room door into entrance lobby with doors to bedroom & bathroom. Spacious en suite twin rooms with conservatory style enclosed balcony area furnished with table & chairs. Bathroom comprised WC, bidet, vanity basin, bath with shower over. Buffet breakfast. Evening meals available. Helpful service with reasonable amount of english spoken. Narrow steps lead down to the beach from a door into the hotel. At the front parking bays line the busy road. Easy walk to harbour or uphill walk into town. I left the window open to hear the waves at night and looked down to the high tide below our room – very special when insomnia sets in.

Review 3:Great location overlooking the beach and short walk into Comillas, one of our favourite places in northern Spain. Hotel's exterior not that attractive but the rooms are very airy, comfortable and clean.

Review 4:Nothing but we had advantage of SatNav taking us straight to the short term drop-off point!

Review 5:Really convenient location for attractions in Segovia. Hotel provides first class facilities, lovely rooms- ours with nice view to hills at the rear. Our breakfast was lovely also. We were happy to pay €17 for our car to be collected and returned to us in view of the excellent deal for our stay!

Review 6:I have never been treated more rudely by hotel staff than from the Josein. While the view was great, unfortunately, the treatment by staff ruined my stay. Don't bother with the adjoining restaurant, bad food at high prices.

Review 7:The view of the ocean from the room was fantastic and Comillas is a great village.

Review 8:Half board was a breakfast buffet continental style and main meal while tasty had very small portions. One had a strong sense that the staff were overworked.

Review 9:I thought that this was the best small hotel that I have stayed at. It tried to do what big hotels do. It was efficient, extremely clean with excellent cleaners, a powerful shower and good white towels.

Review 10:Hotel Josein has a perfect location: perched above the beach at Comillas, with gun barrel views of the beach and the ocean, with the waves breaking right under the windows during high tide. It's a family holiday town, with lots of Spanish holidayers spending their time here. The hotel staff were very friendly, with a great sense of humour. They remembered our coffee order at breakfast each day, and made friendly conversation each morning, enquiring about our plans for the day and for our ongoing journey in Spain. Check in and out was efficient, and we were even offered a handwritten map for our next drive when we checked out. Comillas town centre is a 5 min walk away, and is a picture-perfect cobblestone village. Very quiet but with lots of options for eating. We would stay here again - the perfect place to relax for a few days, especially when needing a break from the cities!

Review 11:We loved staying at the Josein: the rooms all look over the sea and as we were on the 3rd floor, we had particularly good views, with a fully glazed balcony on the back of the room. The staff were all wonderful and we ate there in the evening several times - great food at reasonable prices. Wish we could have stayed longer...

Review 12:The only thing that would have improved the experience would have been having a fridge in the room.

Review 13:The constant soothing sound of the waves breaking below.

Review 14:The wonderful views from the bedroom, listening to the sound of the sea from your bed. Excellent location for walking into the delightful town and exploring the local area. Amazing value for money.

Review 15:We arrived at almost midnight straight from A&E in Torrelavega, after my husband's heart attack & treatment there. The owner could not have been kinder and more helpful. The view is magnificent - a panorama of sea and sky - and one is lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves. A pefect place to be tranquil and recover from whatever life has thrown at you...or just for a happy holiday!

Review 16:We were on the 1st floor no balcony which we had to go down to. We asked for an upgrade, but none were available. The guy on reception had a could not care less attitude. The hotel is in desperate need of a refurb, also smelt musty all the time. It could be a fab hotel as lication is lovely

Review 17:Location

Review 18:Nothing at all

Review 19:Excellent location over the beach, friendly staff, patient with my limited Spanish, food good value for the money (we had half board). Nice coffee. Convenient stop after ferry to Santander. Easy parking. Our second stay and we would definitely stay there again.

Review 20:After an unexpected turn of events (nothing to do with the hotel), we came back to the hotel's restaurant at 10:15 pm on Saturday night, 9/20, hoping we could have a snack, even if not a full dinner. We were gruffly told the kitchen had closed -- there were other guests still talking over coffee/drinks -- and no offer was made to help us out (i.e. A cold dessert, bag of crisps, glass of milk, etc.). I opted to not explain to the woman the myriad options she could offer, if she were at all concerned with accommodating a guest, and instead we resigned ourselves to going to bed a little hungry! I would stay in the hotel, but steer clear of the restaurant in its entirety if you visit. (For background, I am 32 years old and have lived in Spain for 12 years: I have never seen a restaurant close so early on a Saturday night, nor do I have any problem communicating in Spanish. Nothing was lost in translation.)

Review 21:The view from the room was breathtaking, and hearing the slow crash of the waves was fantastic. The hotel is on the beach, and an easy 10-minute walk to the historic town center and restaurants.

Review 22:Going home

Review 23:Staff at the hotel made you feel genuinely welcome. Cleanliness superb. And to wake up in the morning in such an incredible location was fantastic.

Review 24:There was only one member of staff who spoke English so communication proved difficult at times. Can take some of the blame myself for only speaking very basic Spanish.

Review 25:The view from our room looked out onto the beach/sea, the hotel was spotless. The breakfast was good and the overall price was only £30pp per night. Short walk to the town centre and the harbour.

Review 26:No air conditioning therefore had to have window open all the time and the noise of the waves kept my husband awake the first night.

Review 27:The hotel is situated directly above the beach and is easily accessible to it. The rooms are lovely and clean and of a good size. All have a view over the beach and sea. The food was lovely.

Review 28:Everything was fine, maybe the breakfast could be better.

Review 29:Excellent position and acsess to the beach; good sleep; available parking in front of the hotel; home atmosphere; excellent view;

Review 30:Nothing to dislike.

Review 31:Location; being able to park immediately outside the hotel; large rooms. At night hearing nothing but the sound of the sea. An easy stroll to explore the town and Gaudi's architecture.

Review 32:Only downside is that it's a wee bit pricey.

Review 33:Great location right on the beach. with only a short walk into town. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very good indeed.

Review 34:Nothing really - hotel is of the standard expected for its rating.

Review 35:View of beach and harbour. It was clean and breakfast was fine. Staff were helpful despite our abysmal efforts in Spanish.

Review 36:We got one of the very few rooms behind the concrete outdoor stairways - very ugly sea-view. Even so there have been empty rooms the stuff demanded 30 Euros fee to change the room!!! Half board evening meal was of much lower quality than ala card meals. Hotel itself somehow worn out and parking can be an issue on days with many beach guests.

Review 37:It is a Hotel direct at the Beach with (normally) great views of the sea. The Hotel-Restaurant has a very good location with great sea-views as well. Tipp: do not book half board but rather eat ala card.

Review 38:Nothing.

Review 39:Friendly reception although we arrived soaked with bikes, dripping on floor! Wonderful room overlooking sea. Good WIFI in room. Saw town in wet (about 10 mins walk away), but returned to hotel for excellent menu supper. Good breakfast.

Review 40:Perfect for a relaxing get away

Review 41:Fantastic view, proximity to beach and town, ease of parking, comfortable armchairs and balcony

Review 42:Reception service a little slow

Review 43:Great location and fantastic views from all rooms. Classic (and hideous!) 1960s architecture.

Review 44:Fab location, hotel is bit dated but the location is simple wonderful and great value for money .

Review 45:Fantastic location

Review 46:No problems.

Review 47:Good value for the price. Only hotel on the beach. Good parking.

Review 48:Fantastic location, great sea views, parking, restaurant. Short walk into lovely town. Not cheap but worth it!

Review 49:The breakfast was very mediocre.

Review 50:The proximity to the beach and wonderful view from the windows

Review 51:Lovely spot nice to here the waves

Review 52:loved being on the beach and views of the beach from our room.

Review 53:None.

Review 54:Comfortable large, clean rooms for a very good price.

Review 55:Leaving.we were made so welcome

Review 56:Staff,location . everything really

Review 57:Wonderful view of the beach and sea. Lovely to fall asleep to the sound of the waves and watch day turn to night through the wall of windows.

Review 58:The wonderful sea view from the room and the restaurant. Very nice quiet hotel. Excellent for a relaxing stay.

Review 59:Worst architecture in town!

Review 60:Great location overlooking the beach. Friendly staff.

Review 61:The sea views from bedroom window.great value

Review 62:Room a bit musty and needed to be aired. No fridge.

Review 63:Location was good. Hotel was a bit dated but still nice. Water view amazing.

Review 64:no balcony in the rooms

Review 65:The best located hotel in Comillas Fantastic view

Review 66:Our room had fabulous sea views, the sound of the waves all night long, absolutely amazing.

Review 67:Evening meal somewhat ordinary by spanish standards

Review 68:Sea views from the room and close proximity to a nice beach. Terrace to have a beer.

Review 69:Location, staff, room.

Review 70:The restaurant on site was just okay

Review 71:We loved the location and size of the room. It had an enclosed balcony that was wonderful and we were right over the ocean. Lots of room and common space.

Review 72:Beautiful views from all the rooms Closeness to the sea and the noise of the waves Good plain food, well cooked and delicious, reasonably priced Design of the buildings and rooms in keeping. Nice friendly helpful staff Warm and comfortable Convenient for a swim Easy 5 minute walk to town

Review 73:Limited parking on road. Quite a long walk into town centre.

Review 74:Very good location with direct access to beach. Good quality restaurant, overlooking beach. Free wifi. Comillas is an interesting place, especially Gaudi's house and the old port. Not far to other interesting coastal resorts and to the Picos de Europa.

Review 75:The rooms are very small, basic, and like the entire hotel dated. Thebeds are uncomfortable and everything feels damp. The bathroom isfunctional, but tiny. Price is too high for what it offers - we paid€125 per night per room.

Review 76:Location is amazing if you want to visit Comillas. Great view from theroom and the sound of the waves at night is very nice. Good parkingright in front of the hotel. Free WiFi in the hotel works well. Thebreakfast was ok. I was happy that the windows had roll shutters, whichallowed to block out light.

Review 77:Liked it all.

Review 78:We thought the location on the beach was wonderful and the staff were so helpful. Pepe booked our next flights, having researched the options and also arranged for our washing to be done. The evening meal that we ate there was very good.

Review 79:Our double bed was 135cm. Bit on the small side hence my daughter sleeping on her own on two beds of 90cm was better off then us! Good bed though.

Review 80:The location is perfect. Right on the beach. The staff is very friendly. Great Restaurant too with perfect views

Review 81:nothing really, covered parking for motorcycles would be nice?

Review 82:Fantastic location right on the beach. Good rooms with sea view. Breakfast limited but OK. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 83:Price for food was high however a nice walk or drive to the village made it a non issue.

Review 84:The menu of the day was way over priced, Pepe the Chef was very helpful. The breakfast was not very good compared to other places we stayed. The rooms where nice with a dramatic view of the rocky shoreline. Parking was free and that was a plus. Not a bad stroll/hike up to town, or to the harbor.

Review 85:Breakfast could have been included

Review 86:Beautiful location facing the beach

Review 87:nothing

Review 88:everything, good food, great location, on the beach, with a nice little town in the back.

Review 89:The views of the ocean from rooms are amazing.

Review 90:Great location overlooking the sea, easy parking. Owner friendly and efficient. Ideal location if you going for the boat in Santander.

Review 91:fantastic location right on the beach large comfortable room and the food was excellent

Review 92:The catering - very basic.
