Reviews for Velero Beach Resort
Review 1:they couldn't find our reservation, so we got different rooms than expected. the pool water turned all clothes and hair green.
Review 2:great location, close to Cabarete town the kitchen was very well supplied
Review 3:You did not really get a taste of Dominican culture staying here. Most of the food reflected American dining, and did not utilize the amazing fruits grown locally in their backyard.
Review 4:The pool and location made this a great place to stay. You can walk down the beach in either direction and enjoy the Atlantic Ocean. When tired of walking, you can get in the pool and continue to observe the ocean. The staff are friendly and rooms are immaculate. They encourage their guests to make decisions that are ecocentric (towel and linens service).
Review 5:Bed hard as rocks, weird old gringo men with their Dominican "girls".
Review 6:Very helpful staff, strong WiFi signal, superb view of the coast and kitesurfing.
Review 7:There were cockroaches especially at night.
Review 8:Beds, kitchen facilities, sound proof, separate bathrooms, clean personnel cleaned everyday, staff was helpful and friendly
Review 9:The staff are wonderful and speak very good English. The location is ideally situated looking over the bay towards Cabarete. During the day, hundreds of kite surfers can be seen skimming the waters as you sit in the bar or poolside enjoying a drink. At night it is so quiet and peaceful with soft landscape lighting around the property.
Review 10:There's a little private beach, but to get the the main Cabarete beach area/nightlife, you have to hop along the break wall about 100 yards. Not a big deal, and possibly a benefit because the place is probably quieter for it.
Review 11:Awesome restaurant and service overall. Supermarket 100 meters from door. The condo was clean, modern, and bright. Landscaped well kept grounds and pool. Secure grounds and parking lot. Took wife and 3 kids (ages 8-14), and nothing but good things to say.
Review 12:We would have appreciated two bottles of complimentary water in the room on arrival. However the gift shop was very close so we were able to purchase what we needed.
Review 13:From the moment I walked through the spacious lobby to check out the pool, the view of the sea was magnificent. Open and airy with quiet areas for relaxation. Divine. The restaurant food and services were top quality especially the fresh made daily Lobster Bisque. Our room was upgraded to a junior suite (sitting room with kitchenette) for just a few dollars extra. Quiet and comfortable including a terrace overlooking the courtyard and pool/water. The hotel staff took good care of us especially when it was discovered our refrigerator wasn't working. They promptly replaced the entire unit. Best part of all is that check out time isn't until 1:00 p.m. Also you are within walking distance to Cabarete Beach and the local grocery store. We enjoyed our short stay and recommend this property to others.
Review 14:Main Cabarete Beach access is difficult due to rock breakwater, but easy to walk out to side street to access at another place.
Review 15:Comfy beds, relaxing atmosphere, lovely pool, nice staff, great beach... Easy walk to store, restaurants. Beautiful flowers and trees, view of Cabarete beach is the best.
Review 16:The internet was spotty for one evening but it was fixed the very next day. Other than that,no real issues.
Review 17:Where do I begin? I guess I'll start with the phenomenal staff at Velero. They were more than accommodating and went out of their way to make every day of my stay enjoyable. The front desk staff, maid service and restaurant crew were all top notch. If you like fish,I would highly recommend the sea bass meal for dinner. It was awesome! When I needed change for $100 in American currency, the front desk attendant made a phone call and in 15 mins, someone drove up on a moped and changed my money for me. Talking about customer service...I wish we had more like it back in the USA. The location is the next best thing. The view of the ocean while dining is so tranquil I didn't want to leave. :-) It's close to a major supermarket and shops, banks, restaurant's and nite life are only a few minutes walk up the road. And I really felt safe walking around even at night by myself.
Review 18:Getting to the beach was challenging, impossible for older folks or the disabled. The rooms had an overpowering smell (not sure whether it was a cleaning solution or mildew) that permeated ALL our clothing. Daybeds were difficult to secure.
Review 19:The resort was well maintained, quiet, centrally located. The resort restaurant was excellent. Excellent pool area.
