Reviews for Hotel Zaragoza Plaza

Review 1:Local museums and public places closed on public holidays which was disappointing. The hotel did not have a lounge or swimming pool, but to be fair I did know that before going there.

Review 2:GOOD LOCATION and friendly staff and helpful together with nice smile

Review 3:See above

Review 4:The staff are 5 Star, the property is 1 Star. Air conditioner didn't work, our first room smelled so strongly of sewer gas we had to move, one morning there wasn't any hot water. Yep just holding on to that single Star.

Review 5:The Wifi worked only intermittently in our second floor room which the desk warned us of. The breakfast had little variety over the three mornings and the kitchen lady was there to apparently supervise what we took.

Review 6:We stayed three nights at the Zaragoza which we found centrally located, just a block from the the beach and a short stroll to the old and new cities.

Review 7:Small rooms, small windows, no overhead light, so only good light was in the bathroom. Thin walls - could hear toilets flushing in adjoining rooms. No specific shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom, just sachets of shower gel and soap dispensers. Breakfast was 6 Euros extra. Cheaper to eat breakfast out

Review 8:The location. Staff were very pleasant, helpful and accommodating. Relocated me to another room when I complained about cigarette smoke coming under my door (rogue guest in neighbouring room!) Decent hairdryer (though it got a little too hot to hold).

Review 9:Room very small for the price charged.

Review 10:Location very good - Hotel stored our bikes and staff helped in getting them in & out. Female on reception desk very helpful in all respects.

Review 11:My room (101) had a double bed; I was fortunate to be traveling alone as it would have been a tight squeeze for two.

Review 12:The courteous, friendly staff; espresso machine in the room, powerful hot shower, quiet at night, great breakfast and common kitchen area.

Review 13:The room and bathroom was quite compact. But for one night was fine.

Review 14:Very friendly staff. There was a buffet breakfast, but we had a very small breakfast and so they didn't charge us anything at all which was a pleasant surprise. Easy walking distance to everything really.

Review 15:Other guests or activities quite noisy did interrupt sleep

Review 16:Location was very handy close to shops and restaurants Only 5 minute easy stroll to old city

Review 17:The lighting in the room was very poor and if we opened our main blockout curtains there was no privacy as there were no sheer curtains.

Review 18:Central location to the wedding we were attending. Clean & quiet.

Review 19:We were traveling with a car and it was impossible to find a space on the streets so we left our car to a car park which was very expensive. We payed more than 50 euros just for the car park during our 2 nights stay which was disappointing. I would recommend you to consider staying somewhere least central if you are travelling with a car.

Review 20:Hotel is very close to old town and beach.

Review 21:The bed was tiny and aircon loud. For the price per night no breakfast was included and the hotel seemed very dated. Very small room. However clean and comfortable.

Review 22:Location was excellent. Great for a couple of nights.

Review 23:Wi-fi didn't work at all in the common area where it should be. Breakfast was quite poor for that price. Outside cafes have better offers for the same or smaller price.

Review 24:Great location: very close to the beach and 10 mins walk to the city center. Clean, comfortable bed, coffee-machine in room, capsules were refilled daily for free. Helpful personnel and cleaning was good.

Review 25:I booked a normal room for two but when we got to the hotel we found unbelievably small room. NO PARKING, BAD WIFI

Review 26:Location was really nice and the staff is lovely.

Review 27:Room was small and Spartan. Unfortunately, our bathroom smelled noticeably of sewer gas and next to the elevator was a little noisy.

Review 28:Great location, close to the main promenade, modern and clean. Parking garage was large, clean, well- lit and secure. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, but a little meager, but priced appropriately.

Review 29:My room was very small but as asole traveller it sufficed as it was just a place to stay for the nights.

Review 30:Very friendly staff and a very good position just one street back from the main beach and 5 mins from the oport, old town or central shopping area

Review 31:Don't book here. I'm not one to go out of my way to give a bad review, but when it's this bad, people need to know. Here are the facts: the cost was 200 Euro (so roughly 280 Canadian at the time of writing). There was mold all over the ceiling of the bathroom and a cigarette burn on the bedside table. I've had more comfortable air mattresses than the one on the bedframe. The WIFI is non-existent. It simply did not work. When the issues above were discussed with the staff at the front desk (twice) I received a shoulder shrug the first time and a smile the second, both times simply waiting for me to leave. All the TV channels were in french, when I politely asked if English channels were available I was told to look harder (not kidding). Also, we were on the first floor of the hotel and the windows didn't lock, which was comforting in a foreign country. I could go on, but I won't. Simply put, the worst value for the money spent I've received in any lodging on any continent.

Review 32:Not much. The hotel was close to the beach but still about a 10-15 minute walk to the good restos in Zona Centro.

Review 33:The wifi connection was not good in the rooms, we had to frequently go downstairs or to the wifi room. They have a safe at the reception desk but would be nice to have one in the rooms.

Review 34:One block from the beach and the shopping street San Martin. Staff was great and very helpful.

Review 35:Well located, easy walk to to old town and very close to access beach. Best of both worlds and quieter than the old town or beach front. Everything it says on the tin, great value, highly recommended.

Review 36:Unfortunately our reservations were mixed up and our room was given away. The last room available was extremely small (about 6'x10' + bathroom) and the bed was uncomfortable. Small discount but definitely not worth the tiny room and uncomfortable bed.

Review 37:Friendly front desk staff, Good location, Clean

Review 38:On the street there are waste boxes. At each night people break bottles in the waste boxes. It is not nice noise

Review 39:Hotel is very close to the beach. Nice recepcion staff.

Review 40:Wifi coverage was poor.

Review 41:Two couples: two rooms: two totally different experiences. You'd think the staff would have had the brains not to allocate such disparate rooms to one booking . Room 215 was a decent size albeit not large; light and airy, with a balcony overlooking a street (hence, a little noisy during the night - but to be expected in a city); bathroom with a bath and a step-in shower; minibar fridge in the room. Room 219, on the other hand, could barely be described as a "box room": dark with no external window, other than into a covered ventilation well; no natural lighting; no bath; no minibar fridge; thoroughly unpleasant. Yet the same price! If there had been only one couple and this had been the only room, there would have been a walk out. As it is, that couple had to grin and bear it. That said, the location of the hotel is very good indeed: a couple of minutes walk to the beach, under 10 minutes to the old city. The rooms were well maintained and clean. Comfortable beds and plentiful hot water. Breakfast is the typical light start to the day found across Europe. Staff are friendly and helpful with good language skills. Room 215 offered better than one star accommodation and, bearing in mind that San Sebastian is an expensive city, offered very good value for money; room 219 was overpriced on any assessment. For either room, you'd be hard pressed to find such a reasonably priced place anywhere else in that area.

Review 42:If you have a room close to the lift, every time someone arrives at your floor, it sounds like they're about to step out of your wardrobe. Not cheap for what you get.

Review 43:Very friendly and helpful staff in a good location.

Review 44:No instructions for coffee machine in room. It was a pod machine and we had never used one before! Also the coffee pods were never replenished once we had used it. So could not have coffe in the room as advertised!

Review 45:Situated 2 minutes from the beach, shops, restaurants bars, and 5 minutes from the Old Town. Staff were very friendly and helpful!

Review 46:We asked for a quiet room. The inner courtyard turned out to be no more than a well between tall buildings. Our room was at the bottom of this so we had no daylight or air and could not see the sky. Room also next to the lift and was not very quiet

Review 47:Location was great and the staff were very pleasant

Review 48:Breakfast bar was a bit cramped with strange layout so it was difficult to find things. However the food was good and the staff were helpful

Review 49:Excellent customer service. Ideal location

Review 50:1 star rating. Small rooms, no soundproofing and not value for money. Budget accommodation with a high price tag.

Review 51:Location good and straight forward breakfast. Staff are helpful as well.

Review 52:The rooms are extremely small as well as the bed, pillow, etc The smell of air freshener was so overwhelming we actually had to leave even after opening the window, which made it very noisy

Review 53:Front desk person very nice Good location

Review 54:Public parking nearby for 18euro per night

Review 55:Nesspreso machine in the room with two capsules, free wifi, clean room, spacious bed, very friendly personnel. Continental breakfast inlcluded. Hotel has no parking, but you can stay several minutes on the street in front of the hotel. Parking ticket you can obtaint from the desk.

Review 56:No bathplug, luckily we always carry a universal one in our travel kit. Nespresso machine in the room was only supplied with pods & cups etc when we arrived. Subsequent refills were charged for. This was a bit mean - after all we paid for 4 nights, so we should have had a refill each day!

Review 57:We thought the location was very good: near the sea and convenient for shops, bars etc. The room was comfortable and the bathroom spacious. We were lucky to have a room at the front looking out onto the Plaza. The price was very reasonable and included a modest continental breakfast.

Review 58:Breakfast is not the best, but good for the price as its inclueded.

Review 59:Good price other hotels are more than the double and without breakfast, good location, about 100m from the sea. Very helpful staff with good english.

Review 60:even with the deal that Zaragoza has with the kontxa parking, the value is still 18€/night. Apart from that only the noise from the fan in the bathroom (not a big deal anyway).

Review 61:Free wi-fi, good breakfast (for a 1* hotel), the receptionist who checked us out was very friendly and professional. The location is perfect a 2 min walk from la concha!

Review 62:No WiFi at all which was a nuisance! Slightly challenging to find as TomTom didn't seem to know roads were no longer two-way!

Review 63:Location very good to enjoy town; room pleasant, clean - bit dark (but I asked for back rooms!) Left something in the room and staff found it so we could collect on our return trip

Review 64:The WiFi was very poor, sometimes were not able to connect, very slow internet. Not enough light in the room, no possibility to turn on only one of the lamps on the sides of the bed. Very small desk.

Review 65:We were surprised how good can be a "one star" hotel. We got a large room, air-conditioned with all the facilities that we needed, including a Nespreso machine. Very nice staff. Gave us instruction how to get to the Parking (unfortunately extra 14 Euros per day)

Review 66:The single bedroom doesn't have much of storage space, which can be annoying during long stays. My room faced the street on the first floor, which can be very loud.

Review 67:The hotel is located just one street from the sea and beach. The rooms are clean and the staff helpful and friendly.

Review 68:The position of the hotel and the breakfast which was included in the price of the room

Review 69:Our double room was very tight on space, but not all rooms were like that.

Review 70:The hotel was excellently placed to walk along the beach and up the Boulevard to the Kursaal conference centre - 20 minutes. The sea was130 paces from the hotel, the underground changing rooms for swimming even nearer. Beach & sea perfect. Good value, perfect location, little park at one side. The staff were properly multi-lingual, really friendly and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Review 71:Rooms need a bit of a renovation.

Review 72:Quite close to everything!!! A walking distance to the beach, to old town, etc. the hotel staff is very pleasant and nice!!! Very professional!! Everything very clean!!!

Review 73:Wifi is important for us & reception was terrible. When you'repaying €500+ for 3 nights I would not except to have to go sit in alounge to get good connectivity. Also, television reception digitalsignal didn't work. Walls were also pretty thin & to close thedoor, you had to slam it. These are things they should get sorted out.

Review 74:Location was excellent, staff were nice & spoke excellent English.

Review 75:The price of the room was pretty high compared to other cities and hotels we had stayed in over a ten day period across spain. The room was fine but the noise at night was sometimes really disturbing - bin men and party goers - I wasn't too bothered as I packed earplugs but my boyfriend wasn't very impressed!

Review 76:The location was excellent, just a short walk to the prom or the city centre and the staff were friendly upon check in/out. the room was very clean and it was comfortable, with a balcony over the street. Rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard and we had a good stay.

Review 77:Hotel is a bit tired, due soon for renovation, no fresh fruit at breakfast, no tea or coffee making in room (this is common throughout Spain it seems)

Review 78:Central, staff friendly and helpful, breakfast not too big, just right, not at all noisy even with rubbish station just across the road.

Review 79:TV didn't work, doors to balconey didn't lock (security issue as balconies are shared), door to room had to be slammed to close, towel rack falling off, knob to start shower broken, pokey bathroom, breakfast area tiny with poor food selection for the price we paid, and generally overpriced compared to hotel accomodation elsewhere in Spain.

Review 80:Location

Review 81:Breakfast fair to poor. Public car park nearby was expensive with little discount for hotel users. City's one way traffic system with bus and cycle lanes, pedestrians etc. a nightmare - particularly at peak times.

Review 82:Reception staff very helpful

Review 83:Carpet was very stained & old. A little overpriced for the room but great location, it's is what your paying for.

Review 84:Excellent location: close to beach, shops, tapas bar central. Helpful friendly staff Clean, comfortable.

Review 85:Very small room , no kettle in room for making tea or coffee, poor wifi. Great for an overnighter

Review 86:Close to everything once you worked out the buses if you are using as a base

Review 98:Location. Very friendly and helpful staff

Review 99:Room and bathroom needs updating.

Review 108:our patio door didnt lock and there was an extremely strong smell of urine near the curtains

Review 109:location & staff were awesome

Review 110:A bit noisy on level 1 - combination of breakfast room and outdoors so best to seek a room on a higher level

Review 111:Great location and friendly staff

Review 112:Room had no fresh air windows. Very musty.

Review 113:Slow WiFi

Review 114:Super staff, 2 minutes walk to beach

Review 115:Rooms, small, dark, old, no exterior window.

Review 116:The staff

Review 117:A little bit expensive but it was in august (high season in San Sebastian)
