Reviews for Palacio de Aiete
Review 1:No jug in room to boil water. They charged $2.50 to bring us hot water.
Review 2:Friendly staff. Comfortable room, clean. Walking distance to town ( but harder on the return) nice cafe in hotel.
Review 3:Room furniture and linens . lobby lack of decoration.bicycles at the left main entrance. Definitely not a 4 star according to USA industry standards.
Review 4:Friendly staff. Great dinner at the restaurant. Fantastic flavor and price.
Review 5:Wifi is almost completely useless - slow and keeps dropping out - staff say hotel are working to improve this but it ruined my stay as it was impossible to work! Low pressure in shower and air conditioner not effective. Taking shower dangerous due to awkward entry into it and very slippery!
Review 6:Comfortable room - nice cafe in lobby.
Review 7:The hotel is on the top of a hill with a bit of a walk into town. This is fine if you don't mind a twenty minute uphill walk back to the hotel. There is however a pretty decent bus service and a taxi will cost you about six euros from the centre of town to the door.
Review 8:Modern, clean and friendly. Good value for money.
Review 9:Its a bit far out of city centre but it is a pleasant 20 minute downhill walk and a quick bus trip back.
Review 10:Helpful staff. Comfortable bed. Very good shower. Very good bar/cafe with a good range of food and drink available. Good size room.
Review 11:Insulation of rooms not good but not a problem for us. Located away from centre - easy walk downhill but definitely a €7 taxi back - no problem.
Review 12:Good, quiet location with parking. Clean and modern. Good food, reasonably priced. Drinks cheap
Review 13:Room didn't provide tissues, shower cap, service directory or iron - things usually available in a 4 star hotel. Buffet breakfast was more limited than we had had in other hotels, eg in Ciboure, for the same price
Review 14:The room was clean and fresh, staff were friendly and helpful, location enabled easy access into San Sebastion via bus and street parking was available.
Review 15:Shower head went off to one side therefore not able to stand directly under the water. No tissue box supplied.
Review 16:Although location is out of city centre regular bus service is close to hotel- 5 minutes to centre. Very comfortable beds, effective air conditioning and quiet. Lots of parking outside hotel.
Review 17:Would be good if it had seats and table on balcony would make it perfect.
Review 18:Good location. Bus close. Quite location. Enjoyed staying there would recommend to friends.
Review 19:Easy access to city centre either by foot (20 min) or city bus. Free parking. Didn't try breakfast, but possible also to buy drinks and light food at the bar.
Review 20:The hotel itself is a modern building without style. There is no style and the rooms look pretty old. The parket in the rooms are damaged and the air conditioning is not strong enought.
Review 21:I was knocked up twice by cleaning - by mistake. NOT GREAT! The gym is the smallest I've ever seen only room for one person at the time): No weights over 10kg )):
Review 22:Bike rental
Review 23:The bed was horrible! No comforter on bed pretty much lying straight on a hard uncomfortable matress!
Review 24:The food was really great. Staff friendly, good english at front desk.
Review 25:Having travelled extensively in the Basque country, when we arrived at the hotel we expected a warm welcome and helpful staff. This was unfortunately not the case. When asking staff for information, this was not provided easily and when trying to discover more about how to get to the airport or find out about the recent strike, the staff had to be pushed to find info for us rather than offering to help us find out. Staff could attempt to be more welcoming of their guests.
Review 26:Very clean room/ bathroom and comfortable night's sleep.
Review 27:Breakfast was not automatically included in the room rate
Review 28:Alternative breakfast bar (croissant etc) with good coffee available all day at half the price of the normal breakfast The room was fantastically quiet Air con was efficient The staff were friendly and helpful and always smiled Bathrobes and slippers were in the room
Review 29:The room itself was OK, the staff looked like they could not be bothered, was told can't sit at the terrace, can't have an extra map, can't have anything fresh for breakfast, which by the way was awful. I would by book this hotel again, it does certainly not justify the rating or the price.
Review 30:An excellent hotel. It has welcoming staff and on site parking. There is regular bus to the city centre and plenty of reasonably priced taxis for a later return from the wonderful tapas bars in the old town.
Review 31:The hotel wasn't as close to the beach as what I thought, but it was really easy to get to by bus. I would still stay here again despite this!
Review 32:Good location! Staff were really helpful and the room was really nice!
Review 33:Nothing
Review 34:Friendly Staff in a clean and welcoming environment. Room was spacious and well equipped and the Bar / Restaurant service was good. Free Parking is a bonus and, with a Bus stop within 5 minutes walk of the Hotel, and a Bus every 10 minutes to the Centre, you don't need the Car!
Review 35:The hotel is good walk away from the town but not a problem. It has a great bar in the foyer fir a light breakfast or drinks. The room are a good size and comfortable and the staff pleasant and helpful
Review 36:Lively, friendly hotel bar and reasonably priced drinks. Very good standard of food at dinner and breakfast. Very efficient and friendly staff. Approx 20 mins pleasant walk downhill to the seafront.
Review 37:The hotel is 3km from the city centre, but in 20 min walk you can go there. If not, taxi to go back is around 8 euro.
Review 38:The room was spacious and clean. Hotel quite new and very well kept. Possibility to park the car outside for free.
Review 39:But out of the way location but is walkable to the city centre. Got a great price probably due to the location. Lift said dinner till 11pm but found out the hard way kitchen had closed at 10:30, went hungry that night, very narrow window to eat in, just advertise the true times.
Review 40:Room was deserving of 4 stars. Bathroom was nice & large.
Review 41:The Rioja crianza is to cheap here. LOL
Review 42:Been coming here for about 7 years so it's time to Wright a review. The staff here are some of the friendlyes people we have come across they will go out of there way for you. their understanding of English is very good. The hotel is small and peaceful it has a lovely bar and reseption area. This hotel is a little bit out of the main town but if you like walking it takes about 30mins to the old town there are a few diffent ways to walk and the views are nice.there is a bus stop out side of the hotel. There is free parking which is a bonus in San seb most hotels will charge about €20 per day. This is a very safe place to be never fell intimidated the city Is very walkable. If you like good quality wine /food and nice people this is the place.
Review 43:Great price for a great hotel. Don't let the distance put you off booking this hotel. Only a 10-15min walk down the hill into town and if you don't fancy the walk back, the bus is about 2 euros or a taxi about 6 euros. Lovely, quiet location. Would highly recommend.
Review 44:It was a little too hot in the bedrooms.
Review 45:The area was very quiet and overlooking the city, and we could use the gym they have on the roof. I'd recommend going to this hotel especially from Spring to Autumn as they have a great solarium too.
Review 46:away from old town...hard to find way back if driving...take taxi or bus...thin walls for a four star hotel...can hear TV next door if too loud...gym way too small..poor equipment...lights kept going off unexpectantly in middle of exercise.
Review 47:the staff...very helpful..given a better room willingly..no attitude...the views and quiet area...and parking right in front
Review 48:Everything was ok. The Hotel is not near to the centre, but there's a bus stop nearby. We cannot tell about buffet breakfast, as we didn't take it. However, we had breakfast in the bar of the hotel, which was of good quality (with typical pintxos and a small choice of pastries, as in most bars of Basque country).
Review 49:It's a good downhill walk to the old town (15-20mins), but a bit tougher on the way home - a cab is a good option home
Review 50:only spend one night, but had a great recommendation for lunch from the concierge (Mikel)
Review 51:Even if its easily reachable by bus or taxi, it's not in the center of town. Wi-fi was not good while we were there.
Review 52:The hotel is comfortable and located in a residential, calm area. The staff was incredibly attentive.
Review 53:Noisy room, all night from other rooms Fair way out of town, but walk in was nice - catch a taxi back Reception very slow and spent lots of time with young couples then very short with older couples. Why do hotels have poor lighting LEDs have been out for years please use them so we get decent lighting in our rooms. Dimmers can be used to give mood lighting Why only one comfortable chair in a 2 person room. Hotels get your act together you charge too much and don't consider your clients.
Review 54:Good shower Comfy bed Good verandah but no chairs or table
Review 55:The room we had was quite small and we had twin beds, which is notcomfortable for a couple - we essentially ended up squeezing into onesingle bed to sleep! Also, the walk into town, although pleasant if youwalked along the steps to the beach, got tedious quite quickly so nexttime I would probably choose somewhere closer to the centre.
Review 56:Excellent greeting by the staff on reception - in both French andEnglish (as we had arrived in a French rental car!). He also gave us amap of the town and pointed out the best areas to go to, and advised itwas a 20min walk downhill and an €8 taxi back - all good advice! Thehotel was modern and very clean with fast free wifi (no passwordneeded). Great value as well at only €77 per night!
Review 57:It is a little too far from the city, the beach and the old city. The breakfast was quite over priced.
Review 58:We have liked the comfort & the cleanliness of the room. Parking is really close, which helps with the luggage & the front desk staff are helpful.
Review 59:Hard beds. Expensive but ok breakfast. Taxi €8 needed to get back to hotel at night.
Review 60:Modern good standard hotel. Good value compared to hostals/pensions if you can take the bus/taxi ride or walk.
Review 61:Just 5 min. away with a cab from the City . The Problem is to get a taxi in the City! The matress was awful.
Review 62:The staff was extremely helpful; everything was clean. Parking in front of the Hotel made it convenient.
Review 63:The guy on reception was incredibly friendly and informative, eveninghelping us sort out a parking ticket (when we stupidly drove into townin the morning!) There's free parking at the hotel and it's onlya 20 minute walk downhill into the town. Cab back about 8 euros. The bedwas very comfortable and, hallelujah!, The wifi actually worked! Greatvalue hotel.
Review 64:The walk of about two kilometres to the old town was fine, but when we did it twice a day.......
Review 65:The hotel made a good base to expose the city. Parking was easy, compared to more central hotels.
Review 66:No view from the room Car park on the street and not sure that you will find a place. No easy access to the city centre, need a taxi to return.
Review 67:Room and its size.
Review 68:The distance from the city centre is a compromise, but one we found to be worthwhile at the price.
Review 69:Hotels in the centre of San Sebastian are very expensive. This hotel, being outside the main city and a long walk from the centre, is good value for money. It is easily accessible by bus if the walk is too daunting. The rooms and facilities are of a high standard.
Review 70:Good location, about a 25 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride to the center of town. Parking was convienent and safe. Rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable.
Review 71:Long continuous uphill walk back to hotel required a taxi (circa €8) from centre, but more than outweighed by quiet room & ability to sleep at night! Expensive, like all San Sebastian hotels.
Review 72:Quiet location, away from the 24/7 reported noise of most hotels in the centre and old town. Pleasant relaxed bar area.
Review 73:They told us we've got a superior room, all we could see was car park and trees, i thought the hotel was bigger as it suggest the photos you can see when you're booking.
Review 74:The food from restaurant, the menu was good, but breakfast was not worth it.
Review 75:We thought the place was great. An easy 5 min bus ride to town centre, running every 10 mins. Easy to park car free of charge. Friendly staff, clean facilities.
Review 76:Big room and big bed, quiet and clean.
Review 77:We stopped on our way to Belgium. Easy to reach from highway. City center 15-20 minutes away by foot. Very confortable and good value for money.
Review 78:Nil
Review 79:Eveything wa alright. No issue. Free parking.
Review 80:Poor breakfast, far from the center
Review 81:Great staff, nice and clean room
Review 82:Comfortable and spacious room, friendly and helpful staff
Review 83:A bit of a walk to town but really only 15-20 min.
Review 84:Great facilities, extremely helpful staff, clean and lots of parking. Pretty good value for money.
Review 85:Too far to walk into town but nearby bus route and reasonably priced taxis
Review 86:Great Location with an outlook from our room to the mountains
Review 87:Nothing!
Review 88:Fantastic location
Review 89:Parking places very difficult to find...
Review 90:Staff rude and smug, do not stay at this hotel you will regret your experience!
Review 91:Nothing, bad location & miles away from the town.
Review 92:far from the center and we needed to take a taxi
Review 93:everything else
Review 94:Lovely location & that you could park your car right outside
Review 95:Nice, comfortable,clean hotel. That's all.
Review 96:Noise
Review 97:Staff
Review 98:Very difficult to find entrance. Food a bit so-so.
Review 99:Staff very welcoming.
Review 100:I thought the Hotel was very basic.
Review 101:Basic clean room, the bathroom was excellent. The room had a pleasant view.
Review 102:10 euro e/w taxi trip to the old town. 35 minute walk, up and down hills. Nice hotel, bad location
Review 103:Radio in bathroom
Review 104:Friendly & informed staff
Review 105:The room was large and light
Review 106:Location was further from centre of town with an uphill walk back to hotel
Review 107:Basic rooms and facilities - nothing to suggest that this is a four star hotel
Review 108:Cafe in hotel lobby
Review 109:Bar prices were a little high but the service was good.
Review 110:Staff and facilities were excellent. Pleasant stay.
Review 111:Nice rooms, friendly staff, good wifi.
Review 112:Took the wrong turn out of the hotel, walked for an hour and got lost. Not the hotel's fault,
Review 113:Great family room. Perfect for us. Good breakfast
Review 114:Not value for money
Review 115:Location
Review 116:Good access to motorway and to tb beach
Review 117:It was quite far from the city and not easy to access without transport.
Review 118:Quiet location.
Review 119:nothing
Review 120:Professionalism of the staff
Review 121:Don't know why it is classified as a four star hotel. Basic hotel.
Review 122:up the hill. took buses down to center city
Review 123:Noisy, low quality of the wifi
Review 124:Is cheap
Review 125:It was quite far away
Review 126:Good bed
