Reviews for Hotel Mar

Review 1:Out room was spacious, clean and with a great view on the sea. For our stay in September we spent 65€ per room, which is less than any b&b that we found there.

Review 2:The bed was really lumpy. There was only 1 long pillow across the entire double bed, and no additional pillows.

Review 3:Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating.

Review 4:the bar was deserted all the time and for breakfast you get one cup of coffee one slice of toast and one glass of juice and this you have to pay for.

Review 5:the staff were friendly but we had to wait whilst the room was made ready at 1700

Review 6:Hotel is definitely not a 4* & struggles to be 3* Quite a sterile hotel - the pictures make if look a lot better than it is. Poor wifi - virtually not existent in rooms Shower in room was terrible - a trickle and too high up. Beds seem to be all twin/two singles & terrible pillows - not worth having! Buffet breakfast lacks choice and quality - go eat in town. Lacks public areas that you would want to spend any time in. Up a hill, so a 10min hike from the centre.

Review 7:Helpful reception: allowed us a late check out. Parked outside so did not pay extra. Nice size bathroom.

Review 8:This hotel is a very basic, plain European hotel. Location is out oftown and it offers less than zero charm, whereas there are plenty ofcharming places in Comillas. The facility itself is clearly run on thecheap. Door locks constantly breaking, tiniest soap, had to ask for newtowels all the time - they would leave the old ones, and the beds arelike kids' summer camp plywood boards. Do not stay at this place.Terrible, terrible hotel.

Review 9:Comillas is a great family resort town

Review 10:wifi doesn't work well unless you are in the reception area, air condition was not cooling, very busy so change of room was not possible.

Review 11:The location, staff were nice, good views from the upper floor.

Review 12:Evening meal was a bit limited but I did visit during a quiet time. Finding the hotel can be a challenge - no signage?!

Review 13:The room was great. The sea view lovely in the morning when you wake.

Review 14:3 key cards before one would work. Brocken safe. Wardrobe jammed shut and no maintenance staff for many hours I had to lift the mirror door off.

Review 15:Empty hotel no staff or customer service. Nobody cared much.

Review 16:Quiet hotel as it is slightly "off the beaten track"-- not in centre of Comillas. But there is a short cut by steps if you are walking to the town centre. Felt hotel provided "value for money". Helpful reception.

Review 17:The location is quite a way from the old center of town. Restaurant did not have much variety and prices seemed steep; they did not start serving until 9:00 PM, so we did not eat there.

Review 18:This hotel has really thought out getting suitcases from the car to the room. (There was a ramp which was probably built for handicap accessibility, but it works well for dragging heavy suitcases into the hotel.) A great value for the price. Wifi worked very well, free parking in front of the hotel. Comillas is a very interesting town to visit.

Review 19:Mattress was a little unforgiving. The pillows are skinny little things – more like draught excluders. We requested extras. Walls are a bit on the thin side allowing next door noises to filter in. Housekeeping staff seem to sometimes engage in extensive bed dragging manoeuvres quite early in the morning. No real complaints though.

Review 20:We did a fair bit of research for a hotel in this region and chose Hotel Mar. Our stay confirmed that as a good choice. The hotel is modern, well appointed and clean, attended by friendly, helpful staff. The sea-view room with (impractical) balcony was spacious and comfortable (once you got used to the rather hard mattress). Service in the (usually deserted) bar was prompt by virtue of a little bell on the counter. Why can't other hotels do this? Comillas is hilly and Hotel Mar stand on a tump, so be prepared for that kind of walking, whether going to the beach (five minutes to the right) or the town (five minutes to the left). The walks back uphill after evening meals and drinks were a little challenging in places but the overall comfort and location of Hotel Mar more than compensated for this.

Review 21:Hotel is only as good as a premier inn, btreakfast overpriced and the hardest bed I have ever slept on. Situated up a steep hill above the town.

Review 22:Cleanness, staff and secure parking for motorcycle (6 euro) but plenty of free safe parking outside.

Review 23:Hard beds, dust balls in the room, safe which didn't work as it had been drilled out, dirty minibar which was empty and didn't work well, not so friendly staff, 'sea view' from the top floor only if you stood on your toes

Review 24:Location, access by car, parking, good wifi in the room

Review 25:room was dirty and had to be cleaned by receptionist on request, wifi was not working and receptionist was unable/unwilling to solve the problem, location is an uphill struggle from both the beach and town

Review 26:room size and design, light and airy, quiet

Review 27:Rather sterile, business-like atmosphere in lounge/bar area. Terrace area locked and somewhat unattractive.

Review 28:Room size and furnishings. Sea view. Very nice area but steep climb to beach- about 15 minutes away.

Review 29:This is not a 4 star hotel. More like 2 or 3 star.

Review 30:Very helpful staff.

Review 31:room excellent, staff too, very unobtrusive, smiley, left us to ourselves but always someone available if we wanted even to ask anything..

Review 32:Issues with room door electronic key cards was recurrent

Review 33:Sea view

Review 34:excellent location, superb sea view, free parking space, spatious comfortable room. Good place to explore the rest of the Cantabrian coast.

Review 35:No real character and only Spanish TV channels.

Review 36:Clean and comfortable.

Review 37:shaky beds, old and broken fridge, very poor breakfast

Review 38:beautiful willage, stunning views and beaches

Review 39:Restaurant not open.no info about anything in your room.

Review 40:Location

Review 41:at the top of a very big hill.

Review 42:a great hotel at a great price. very large room. beautiful view from widow

Review 43:10 minute walk uphill from the historic town

Review 44:Modern hotel with good size rooms. Sea view rooms have an excellent view; many with terrace.

Review 45:Spacious room, lovely view and helpful staff

Review 46:Size and design of the room - it was like a bed-sitting apartment. Super friendly and helpful staff.

Review 47:The breakfast is poor value and not helped by the attitude of José the waiter. He is abrupt rude and intolerant which led to us not taking breakfast after the first two,and the hotel reimbursing us for the whole 9 breakfasts booked.

Review 48:The sea views

Review 49:The fact that I booked our stay - only one night -online and at no point were we told the hotel would not actually be open on that day. We sensed it felt odd - the reception staff dressed in old sweat tops and slightly distracted! BUT we could count ourselves lucky because they would `give us a whole apartment for no extra charge 'but we would have to get our own breakfast! Someone duly delivered a bag of the cheapest nasty packets of coffee and bread, biscuit choices. I asked for some proper coffee to make myself and they did get it. All in all quite wrong to have taken the booking in the first place.

Review 50:Liked the town not the hotel -

Review 51:No curtains on room so early wake up unavoidable.

Review 52:Location, price, reception staff very helpful.

Review 53:Fantastic room view.

Review 54:For its price is anough good. It is clean, provides all opportunities.
