Reviews for Silken Amara Plaza
Review 1:We didn´t like that the room was open and no maid in sight.
Review 2:Perfect location near the bus station to the airport. Walking distance to Old Town. Friendly and helpful staff. The bikes we rented could have been better but it was good anyway. The breakfast was good with large selection. The room we got, corner room on the 6th floor with a terrace was wonderful although it rained 2 of the days. Very good.
Review 3:Very comfortable and quiet room. Good location, right at the bus station and close to the Euskotren metro station. It's a bit of a walk to the beach and the old town, but local bus service is cheap and frequent. The hotel has a cafe providing a cheaper breakfast option than the breakfast room upstairs.
Review 4:It was warm and the air conditioning did not cool, so room was warm. Otherwise, it was a great place.
Review 5:Great facilities and location, comfortable bed and room.
Review 6:We booked a queen bed room. We did not get queen beds. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Two twin beds pushed together and made separately does not a queen bed maketh. It is extremely uncomfortable to be a couple in this bedding arrangement, and we were two couples. I specifically mentioned this on check-in and the front desk staffer couldn't have cared less.
Review 7:They played the Rugby World Cup Final in the piano bar and the bartender helpfully turned on the sound when he saw we were interested, which was kind of him. Breakfast was a good selection and fresh; the rooms were comfortable aside from the bed situation.
Review 8:Not a bad experience, but arriving by car, it was difficult to dsee where to go and how to access reception. Some direcytions and explanation might have helped!
Review 9:Clean and comfortable
Review 10:Funny smell inside room, quite stuffy, some smell of smoke in the hallways of our floor. Breakfast was ok, little choices for vegetarians and then on top of that we have to pay extra for a full-breakfast rate for our 11 year old daughter that ate a bowl of cereal.
Review 11:Location and staff were good.
Review 12:Hotel was in the busy area, so next time I would definitely prefer to stay in the quieter area.
Review 13:We arrived to the hotel at around 2pm. Our room was clean and tidy through out the week. Hotel restaurant was also good, just the menu was a bit limited. Otherwise everything was fine.
Review 14:Nothing
Review 15:It has a very opulent look. Right next to the bus station. Comfortable and clean. Food in the bar was delicious Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 16:I am a recent amputee and still walk with aids. i noticed a rug in the Piano Bar had turned up at the corner and was a "trip hazard" as it was on the route through the bar. I asked that it be moved or turned around (there were 6 other rugs that it could have been changed with. After 3 days it was still there. I hope someone sues their arse off. The Piano bar did not have "diet" drinks like tonic water etc. The menu should have offered an "a la carte" service but didn't so the choice for dinner was very limited. Better facilities for the disabled should be offered.
Review 17:The staff tried hard to work with the limited resources they had
Review 18:I have never had a bad experience, but last time we stayed there was tissues in the room. I found that for the monies paid the room was really basic I have stayed in lots of places and lots of hotels now provide the simple things like water and tissues.
Review 19:I have stayed here a few times and always find everyone helpful and friendly.
Review 20:Location is too far from the centre and seafront really. we chose it for it's secure car park.
Review 21:Friendly greeting and good car parking. Rooms average, bar and restaurant all ok. All good, nothing special.
Review 22:Expensive parking.
Review 23:Easy to find, underground parking across the road, beautiful 20 minute stroll along the river into the Parte Vieja or 5 minute bus journey from outside the hotel. Quiet room overlooking park.
Review 24:No bad experience but carpet on entrance to our room (317) was rather shabby and either needed a clean or perhaps renewal. However it did not spoil our enjoyment of the Hotel
Review 25:Staff were first rate and facilities were very good. Room was very clean and comfortable indeed.
Review 26:Location meant a long walk into city centre
Review 27:Deal included free parking and an extensive breakfast menu. Together with a well equipped comfortable room.
Review 28:Free wifi was too restricted If you are English, then TV restricted to bbc world news- no other English channels
Review 29:Room very large. Very modern Attention to detail re chocolates, champagne glasses positioned on tray
Review 30:The hotel is situated above the bus station and in between two very busy noisy roads (beeping horns, etc). The rooms are not insulated for this. It is very noisy all day and all night. Opening the window is not an option for the noise levels. Breakfast was extremely expensive. They were cleaning up noisily on trolleys the whole time. Very poor breakfast service.
Review 31:The bar area looked inviting, but we did not use it. The check-out was efficient. The breakfast food itself was ok.
Review 32:The parking was full and we needed to take the car to another parking. The receptionist were not particularly helpful.
Review 33:The location and the comfort of the rooms.
Review 34:It needs recarpeting!
Review 35:Very friendly staff, very decent hotel. The location is the best if you want to travel by bus around the Basque country: it's in front of the bus station. A bit longer walk to the centre and beach: about 15 minutes.
Review 36:The staff was very friendly and anxious to help in any way they could. The city of San Sebastián is wonderful! Although the old town is about 15 minutes awayon foot, it was a pleasant walk. Public transportation is right outside the door for those who prefer to ride.
Review 37:Room 107 was beside the bus station so there was always noise from buses. It's not near the sea but at easy access 20 mins walk. However being next door from a bus station makes it look cheaper than what they charge. The shower head was broken and hanging down so it was hard to take a shower holding it. We were in a room for three but the third bed was just a sofa bed we had to open on arrival which left the room with very little space to walk around. The sofa bed was for our teenage son who is 6ft4 so it was quite short for him (tall people beware). The hotel looks quite dated from outside and nothing like the pictures. I found it quite expensive for what it is. It's definitely not a 4 star hotel.
Review 38:The staff at The reception are very pleasant and extremely helpful. The toilet is very clean and has excellent amenities plus a bidet. It's handy to be next to the bus station if you are travelling to other places afterwards. The train station is within walking distance (15-20 mins with luggage). The piano bar is nice and the cafe beside it is also handy if you miss breakfast like we did (we arrived at 11:03 and breakfast was over at 11am so everything was closed). We hadn't booked breakfast anyway. We were able to leave our luggage at reception for a few hours and it was well looked after.
Review 39:Expensive. Busy place (bus station) - but not so annoying as it might have appeared at the first glance. Long walk to the beach.
Review 40:Good access by car including underground parking. Nice service. Comfortable conditions.
Review 41:It's just on edge of the city and next to bus station. We could hear buses all night and if we opened the window, the air was pure diesel. Some staff were very helpful, others rude.
Review 42:Although a moderate walk from the old city the Hotel is very well situated for a car driver. Easy access from the motorway network and parking under the Hotel.
Review 43:A trek to the "centre" (2km walk). The bus station can be a noisy place in the morning ...get a room on a high floor. For the position the rates are probably a bit high.
Review 44:Large clean room. Standard 4* business hotell
Review 45:WiFi was a bit hit and miss, not always being able to connect.
Review 46:Staff were all really top class. The room was comfortable and exceptionally clean. Facilities were good and food lovely. Location by the river was great and as we travelled to San Sebastian by bus it was right there when we got off! it is then only a 20 minute walk into the Parte Vieja
Review 47:Avoid.rooms above bus station .....very noisy....had to sleep with window shut. Standard urban hotel with comfortable rooms. Breakfast buffet very average and items were not replaced when finished.
Review 48:Very charming welcome in recepción. Good situation as just a very pleasant walk along the Ribera to the centre.
Review 49:Parking is expensive - E18 per day. Staff in Bar miserable!
Review 50:Ease of finding hotel and parking. On bus route into centre of San Sebastian but could walk it along tree lined avenue.
Review 51:The hotel is a 20min walk to the beach and a little further to the old town. This did not put us off as we enjoyed the walk.
Review 52:Great hotel, room was spacious and very clean with a huge comfortable bed. There was no iron in the room but when we requested this it was brought to our room very promptly. We had a room on the opposite side of the bus station so street noise wasn't a problem.
Review 53:Wi-fi was intermittent Walk into old town a little on the long side but OK Hotel exterior dated but inside very modern
Review 54:Fantastic location for travelling around the area to Bilbao, Pamplona, Logrono in Rioja for example as bus station right outside. Also 10 mins walk from train station, a little on the long side to walk into old town but not too bad. Bed was fantastic size.
Review 55:Difficult to find from ferry port. Just opposite the ferry port but difficult to find the way in as street where it is situated is not open to traffic.
Review 56:Huge bedroom, wonderful facilities and great view from the bedroom. Very luxurious.
Review 57:The free wifi is just a joke. The provider is Kubi Wireless, I have seen them in many Spanish hotels, it never works well. Kubi also has an extremely complicated login process (why??). Also the room was too small, if one of us sat at the desk the other one could not pass behind around the bed. The two elevators are not enough to serve the big hotel - sometimes you need to wait too long for them. Even if the hotel is told to be located in the center, to the old town (good restaurants etc) or to the beach you need to walk around 15-20 minutes (or take a local bus for 1.65€).
Review 58:It was easy to get a taxi in the morning. The long-distance bus-stop is in front of the hotel. The front desk staff was very polite and helpful. The hotel is clean and looks modern. Well sorted breakfast.
Review 59:I did not like the fact that breakfast was not included in the room price .
Review 60:I liked the location . The room was not too big but with clear colors and nicely decorated and above all it was quiet .
Review 61:Car park was difficult to negotiate and quite expensive. An email sent to the Hotel via Booking.com was not acknowledged by the hotel. Front desk was abrupt and dismissive when discussed
Review 62:Close to bus station, river and a short walk to the town centre and Old Town
Review 63:Very welcoming reception, room comfortable & clean. Breakfast buffet very good, as was the food in the bistro, nothing too much trouble for the staff. Good location for us as we arrived by bus. 30 min walk to Old Town, but you can get a bus, they run every 5 mins.
Review 64:The wifi wasn't great and needs work.
Review 65:The hotel itself was clean, well presented and extremely comfortable. The location was great and provided a beautiful view of San Sebastian.
Review 66:Nothing really, good night's sleep.
Review 67:We finally found the parking. Across the road from the hotel, public parking. The hotel was a little far from the actual centre but only a 20 min walk and we had a taxi back in the evening which was no problem
Review 68:Nothing at all
Review 69:The hotel is easy to access by road and includes secure underground parking. It is a pleasant stroll down to the old town and seafront, with buses right outside the hotel if you prefer. There is good local shopping and a selection of pinto bars.
Review 70:Underground car park was a little challenging as the spaces are quite small, our car was secure though.
Review 71:Location, easy walking to city centre. Large comfortable and clean rooms. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Review 72:Staff very kind and helpful Hotel is not located in center of town but it was a nice walk along the river to the center which takes about 20min Railway station was also pleasant 10 min walk from hotel .
Review 73:Very pleasant and helpful staff, always willing to please. Nice bright and airy rooms and handy for bus stops opposite hotel. Few handy local bars/restaurants and walks to beach and old part of town. Would love to stay here again.
Review 74:The town was more than a short walk but the hotel staff told us about th elocal bus which worked well
Review 75:Hotel next to coach station, access could not be easier.
Review 76:Hotel is 20 mins walk from town and beach but very convenient for us as it is next to bus station to Bilbao. Restaurant served good dinner at reasonable price. Very satisfied with room...room on other side of bus stop is quieter. Helpful staff.
Review 77:Connection to wifi a little difficult as the process was not correctly explained. Front of house staff somewhat dismissive when this was brought to their attention.
Review 78:Excellent, first class breakfast - everything one would wish for was provided - one of the best hotel buffet breakfasts we've experienced in Europe
Review 79:Nothing except having to pY for car parking in hotels car park 18.50 per night but seemed the normal thing these days in Spain
Review 80:Hotels position only 15 mins walk from town centre and 25mins from old quarter
Review 81:My only disappointment was being charged the full car rate for parking my motorcycle. On the other hand it was easy access via the lift to room from garage
Review 82:Easy to find next to bus station and easy to get back to the main route. Very helpful and friendly staff on reception. Good value dinner and excellent breakfast selection. Staff here very good too. I enjoyed the long walk alongside the river to the sea and the walk back through the town.
Review 83:WiFi signal was weak in the room
Review 84:Great location at bus stop to catch bus to and from Bilbao. Nice walk to and from old town to walk off the copious amounts of pintxos consumed.
Review 85:Free wifi was a bit slow but useable. The hotel was a by further from the old town than I expected but still only 20 minutes on foot.
Review 86:Clean, comfortable, good food and drink at reasonable prices, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 87:Strange smell from outside, air conditioning not cooling anything. 'Cold white' lights everwhere...
Review 88:Welcoming staff. Room size. Huge bed! Comfy room. Nice red wine in the mini bar.
Review 89:A bit difficult to find the entrance/reception when you arrive by car! We took the big round-about several times. Hotel entrance is opposite the entrance of the Parking.
Review 90:Staff at reception kind and professional. Location: walking distance from old center where you'll find all the tapas bars. Private and secure parking (although you have to pay extra). Nice spacious modern room. Wifi is for free, not very quick but acceptable.
Review 91:If you come to Donostia for holidays / leisure is definitely a good location as it is a 15-20' walk from any spot in the centre (old town, playa de la Concha) . The Wi-Fi works smoothly from the rooms (there are plenty of hotspots on every floor) and is really free
Review 92:Noise of buses outside as was a bus hub. Didn't have breaky there as was 18€ each, and we got breaky for three at a total of 13€ around the corner.
Review 93:Liked the location because it meant we had to walk into main town everyday but if you don't like to walk stay closer in. Nice view of fountain. Bed was really good.
Review 94:Internet was slow and dropping. The rooms are small, and the closet is located inconvenient by bed table. There is really nowhere to put the luggage if you travel with something more than handluggage size
Review 95:The location is great - 15 min walk to seaside. If you arrive by bus, station is right at the hotel. Breakfast is very good, roooms are cosy. Hotel bar has decent prices. Many food shops around.
Review 96:The bar is a bit uninspiring, as is the coffee shop.
Review 97:It's a relatively modern corporate hotel in a reasonable location. Rooms are modern (in that corporate hotel way). Nothing to inspire, but nothing wrong with it either. Good breakfast.
Review 98:It is located beside the bus station and there is a bit of noise at night.
Review 99:Good value for money. It is bit far from the old town but there are many buses going up to the boulevard and it only takes 5 minutes.
Review 100:Everything was superb.
Review 101:Lur and Alvaro on reception were brilliant. We were a party of 10 and they couldn't do enough to accommodate our needs. Well done to them. I did send email to MD of hotel to tell him but sadly received no reply. The prices in the bar/coffee shop were brilliant - cheaper than UK
Review 102:Wifi poor.
Review 103:Lovely clean hotel. Comfortable room, great mattress, fair sized bathroom. Wonderful breakfast, great variety of food. Very friendly helpful staff. Good food in restaurant , tasty, well presented, and very good value. Location good for us , near bus terminal for trips and airport. Only wifi very poor. Would stay there again.
Review 104:The receptionists we had were out and out incredible. 2 young gentleman one named Juan and the other who name escapes me. Helped us out so many times during our stay that we lost count. Thanks so much!
Review 105:A swimming pool would be a bonus.
Review 106:We had a fantastic few nights in this hotel and although had booked a twin bed plus spare bed room, as the hotel was quiet, we got moved to a family room which was superb! The 26 or 28 bus takes 6-7 mins to get to the old town or beach, or walkable in 20-25 mins, so a superb location as well! Loved the comfort of this hotel & would definitely stay there again with no hesitation.
Review 107:Price is unacceptable for the quality of services. Nothing special for such a high double-bed room price. Was really expecting something better.
Review 108:Breakfast Reception staff
Review 109:Hotel a bit tired Some distance from the city center
Review 110:Possibility of staying 2 adults and 2 children in a normal double room, giving this hotel a good value/price ratio
Review 111:Grumpy staff, one knocked on the door constantly for 5 minutes while we were getting dressed just to deliver a welcome drink (just a bottle of sparkling water). Wifi was so so it was unusable.
Review 112:Big comfortable bed
Review 113:My wife and I just stayed 5 nights at this hotel and were very, very satisfied. The location is wonderful...very close to convenient bus stops to go to the Old Town or the Catedral areas, which are two main points for dining or shopping. And if you want to take a day trip to Bilbao, it is right next to the bus station and the ticket office. Also, if you need to take a taxi, they are right next to the buses and always available. The staff is very helpful and exceedingly cordial and the room was large by European standards, very clean, and the cleaning staff very cooperative. This is a hotel that we will certainly stay at whenever we return to San Sebastian.
Review 114:Expensive. Location but the staff explains very well how to get to the centre with the bus at very little cost and great efficiency.
Review 115:A nice modern hotel. Parking underneath. Excellent breakfast
Review 116:This hotel was quiet and in a nice location by the river. The bus service is excellent and stopped right across the street, or it is a lovely walk into town.. The staff were so helpful and the breakfast was superb. Would stay here again definitely!
Review 117:- Location, not in the center, but not close to the noise. 20 minutes walking t the center or 5 minutes by bus. - Hotel provides underground parking at no cost!!! - Breakfast. One of the best!!
Review 118:STANDARD ROOM IS VERY SMALL, FEW MINUTES WALK FROM THE BEACH AND OLD TOWN
Review 119:NICE LOCATION GOOD FACILITIES, GOOD BREAKFAST.WE CHANGED THE ROOM TO JUNIOR SUITE AND WAS GREAT
Review 120:No kettle in the room,I know there was a cafe but if you're an early riser .it would have been nice to make myself a tea or coffee
Review 121:Staff super friendly and helpfull. Rooms were excellent and location too.
Review 122:walls are very thin, it was quite noisy
Review 123:Nice view from the room, clean and neat rooms, comfortable bed
Review 124:Right next to the bus station for bus to Bilbao airport etc. Good breakfast Nice lounge area
Review 125:The location, style and general atmosphere of the hotel was terrific. The bus from the airport stops right next to the hotel.
Review 126:Great location and lovely hotel
Review 127:the bathroom was large and very comfortable for two ladies
Review 128:Great place to stay...very friendly & helpful staff... really enjoyed... taxis and buses just outside...
Review 129:Location of the hotel - very clean comfortable hotel
