Set in a stunning landscape, overlooking the sea, Casa do Merlo is the perfect place to get away from it all, and unwind by going on long walks through the countryside. The hotel is also surrounded by a large estate, with gardens where you can soak up the sun in the summer.
Casa do Merlo’s rooms boast rustic-style decor – with wooden flooring, stone walls and traditional-style furniture. They all come with en-suite bathrooms.

Review 2：New rooms with fine muebles, the meals in the Restaurant are exzellent, they are so big that they are easily to share. Only five minutes to the beach. The premises allow for a relaxing stay.Proprietor very friendly and helpful.

The hotel retained the details of the old architecture, but combined that with the comfort of modern furniture and design. We loved the 10 minute walk to the beach down the peaceful, country path, and the breakfast, which was the best breakfast we had in Spain. Lunch was a bit pricy at 20 euros, but was delicious. Overall, an extremely pleasant stay. Our favorite hotel during this trip.

Review 10：We had decided to stay only in interesting older hotels on this trip andhad almost given up on finding anything along this stretch of ocean, butthen we discovered Casa de Merlo. Set only walking distance from thisrugged coastline and ten minutes drive from the famed Praia de Catedraiswith its sculpted 'sea stacks', we later regretted that we had only onenight to spare.The owner was really welcoming, spoke excellent English and gave us a delightful room with it's own bright galeria and faux four poster bed. The bathroom was tastefully decorated and inspired me to do something aboutmine back home! The whole property was clearly once set on it's own in open country and has a surrounding stone wall. This means that, although holiday homes have encroached into the area a bit over the years, once you are inside the gate you don't notice them at all. It actually contributes to a cosy, protected feel to the place.There is interesting old furniture and artefacts around the rooms and public areas, so it's an ideal blend of antique charm with the more modern bathrooms and wi fi (which works bit better downstairs!).On the other side of the compound is the restaurant, where in the morning we found a formidable breakfast buffet that catered to all needs and nationalities (cooked eggs etc were also offered). In fact it was almost too much after our superb dinner the night before - we were still trying to digest a huge delicious sea bass that they had served with an excellent local wine :OA last word on the service: we had already enjoyed conversations and advice on the local area from our host but he then really 'went the extra mile' to try an obtain a rental surfboard for me (sadly hard to find in the low season). This involved him ringing around local people etc and was much appreciated. A shame the waves weren't as helpful that day and failed to show up!PS.
