Reviews for Hotel Dorfschenke
Review 1:English was generally poor and they only accept cash - a notice suggesting temporary failure of their card machine was up on both our visits - 12 days apart! The lack of guests on both our visits suggests it may be in terminal decline
Review 2:The staff were helpful in giving us a "quiet" room at the back but a local clock chimes all night!
Review 3:The hotel restuarant was closed on Sundays and doesn't accept credit cards (cash only). The floor in my room was very creeky. There was no mini bar or drink making facilities in the room. Very poor wifi reception in the room.
Review 4:The cost, no frills, basic room with a bed to sleep in.
Review 5:Restaurant staff was trying to push 4 course meal, but all we wanted was one course. He seemed a little put out, but food was good & value for money.
Review 6:Garages for our motorcycles
Review 7:NO RESTAURANT: though there is such a room it has not been open for some time. NO BAR: same story. No bar or restaurant within walking distance. 'No-smoking' room was smoke infested. 'Free' breakfast is still charged on departure.
Review 8:The hotel's restaurant is closed. There is a bistro about 400m away (as directed by host), but unfortunately, they were on holiday. Check with hotel that c/card machine is working - otherwise, payment is in cash.
Review 9:Excellent value for money. Comfortable well furnished bedroom. Good breakfast. Congenial host. There is an excellent 4* restaurant (with appropriate prices) about 100m down the road.
Review 10:Wifi was only available in the room above the office - the gentleman did change us to a room closer to that one, all the while insisting the entire hotel had wifi. I believe we were the only guests - maybe one other - when we came in at night, we were stared at as if we shouldn't be there. (we had already checked in) When we came down for breakfast, we had smiles on our faces and asked the 2 people at the desk about breakfast, and they pointed and gestured in a direction without saying anything. My son and I followed the gesture to a large room with all tables set, but no one else there. We sat at one of the tables, saw the breakfast 'buffet' and got plates. We were touring for a month. Truly, this breakfast was not a very good one. The cheeses looked as though they had been sitting out overnight, there was no water available, no one to ask, and a very very limited selection of some hard rolls. Disappointing. To top it off, midway through the meal, an older gentleman we had not seen during our visit came in and told us in a gruff voice that we sat at the wrong table!! Apparently, we were to sit at the one with a coffee pot on it. Neither of us drink coffee - and that was the only difference between that and our table - so we felt very unwelcomed. In addition BEWARE! This hotel is very close to the town church, which rings all night long. It was a very hot night, open windows were necessary, and I was awakened every 30 minutes by the church bell. Not a good stop!
Review 11:Room temperature was a bit cold. Apparenty no heating was on in August. Parking is open to the street.
Review 12:Parking right next to entrance.
Review 13:Staff unable to provide additional pillows. Each bed has one pillow!
Review 14:Comfortable beds, quiet rooms and convenient location.
Review 15:Cleanliness. Value. Wi-fi.
