Reviews for Hotel Astoria7

Review 1:- parking at -4 - room located next to lift shaft which is quite noisy

Review 2:- friendly staff - clean room, bit small and a weird pie shape - nice continental breakfast buffet

Review 3:Rooms are in good shape but are showing a little wear

Review 4:Great hotel with great facilities. It's located next to the bus station and only a 20 minute walk or 5 minute bus into theg old town.

Review 5:Clean modern hotel. A very pleasant easy walk into the old quarter of town. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Recommended great pintxos bars. Very onnliginhly delivered an iron and ironing board to our room. Airport bus stops less than a 100 metres from front door.

Review 6:Nothing

Review 7:We were able to walk to the old town Center easily from the hotel. All of the facilities were excellent! The room was spacious and nice. Should have a higher rating.

Review 8:The room smelled like mold. Strongly like mold. You can't control the temperature in your room; once they switch from air con to heat in the fall, you cannot turn on the air, so it was way too hot. We had to sleep with the window open to a noisy street in order not to suffocate from heat and mold smell.

Review 9:Very clean hotel. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. A fairly long walk into the old town, but buses 21,26 and 28 stop right opposite. It is only a short bus trip into the old town. Taxi back costs about 8 euros. Breakfast was buffet style and very varied. Rooms very clean with bed linen changed regularly. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Review 10:Quirky decor. Fabulous staff who could not be more helpful. Especially Miriam who collected us when we were lost on arrival and guided us to the hotel

Review 11:The Hotel have very nice Lounge with Bar. The rooms are very nice designed with many pictures of great Film actors. Every room is labeled under a different Film actor name, my room was Kevin Costner. Car Garage direct in the Hotel. 15 min. food walk to the see side.

Review 12:Just a little too far from the middle of old town. 20-30 min walk.

Review 13:Beautiful boutique hotel. Very comfortable. Great facilities. Car parking available.

Review 14:The theme of the hotel was fantastic and so well carried through. The lounge "library" and bar was particularly good. The photographic content was excellent. This coupled with the most helpful and friendly reception staff and the quality of the rooms made our stay excellent. Also a lovely big bed (not two separate matresses)

Review 15:A tad expensive for what it is, although would still stay here again. Eur15 per person for breakfast a little steep

Review 16:Nice hotel, a little quirky, spotlessly clean, staff helpful and smiling. Welcoming and family friendly. Note it's about a 20min walk to the old town

Review 17:Felt very "separated" from the dining/courtyard even though it was part of the facility. Never clear on whether a continental breakfast was included with the room or not.

Review 18:Spacious room in a good location for those of us who enjoy walking (like to Old Town).

Review 19:Closer to beach/old town would have been more convenient but we enjoyed the 15-20 minute walk into town where most of the good restaurants are located.

Review 20:The hotel was very clean and cool. Nice size rooms with wood floors.

Review 21:The car parking price was rather high.

Review 22:Our room was large and the bed similarly expansive. The bathroom was superb with lots of room and a great shower. The parking was quite easy to access and felt very secure. Proximity to the bus station was excellent being literally just across the road. We used the bus to travel to Bilbao one day. The hotel was a little way out from the main centre and beach which was not a problem as we both enjoy walking and it enabled us to discover some quieter places to eat.

Review 23:location was 20 mins walk from old town but we didn't mind as we could do with some walking after all the amazing pintxos we gobbled all day!

Review 24:Great staff, excellent room

Review 25:Nothing but WiFi was moody

Review 26:Fantastic, fresh breakfast. For us, location perfect as we prefer to sleep in a quiet location and walk to shops and restaurants etc. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower superb.

Review 27:Quirky modern hotel . Hotel in an old theatre which has been renovated and each room is themed to an actor . Luv all the bits and pieces plus if you want you can choose dvd of the actors films. Cafe bar great pintxos all day. Hotel 20 minutes walk to old town and beach .

Review 28:There was a floating shelf under the TV on the wall which housed the remote controls, which my 5 year son walked into. We ended up draping a small towel over it to avoid any further incidents. A lock on the bathroom door would have been preferable.

Review 29:Staff were friendly, professional and happy to provide guidance and information regarding Monte Urgull. Hotel is in a quiet part of town, we enjoyed the walk along the river into the old town. Shower was fantastic, the beds comfortable. We especially liked to sit and have breakfast on the sidewalk outside the hotels cafe/restaurant (which is full of locals) to plan what we were going to do that day. Wish we could have stayed longer. Having parking in the underground garage was really handy, and a lift straight down from the hotel reception to the parking garage made it easy for us to unload and pack up the car with all our gear.

Review 30:Arrived late on the first night and ordered pasta from room service, arrived swimming in oil and almost raw, with no taste at all.

Review 31:Great location, lovely room.

Review 32:Bedding is basic and facilities are limited and lack atmosphere. Breakfast is in a small area with limited service. It's not a luxury hotel by any means but is modern.

Review 33:Clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff

Review 34:Walls are like paper, you hear everything (people walking, running water, doors being shut). Don't tell you that you need to reserve parking.

Review 35:Their cafe for breakfast (more interesting than the buffet).

Review 36:Squeezing the extra bed in for our daughter left very little room for anything else. I would have expected a larger room for 3 people if I was honest. Like other comments, it isn't far into town, but it is far enough to be boring to have to come back from the beach to get changed before heading back into town. Having said that, the bus services were very quick and efficient.

Review 37:The room and particularly the main double bed was wonderful - really comfortable. The bathroom was a good size with a great shower. The cafe was a great place to grab a meal when we arrived tired and hungry on the first night. The hotel has a great feel to it and it is very efficiently run by the wonderful staff who work there. Would definitely stay again if we could have a bigger room ;)

Review 38:No wifi access in the rooms. They really need to work on getting more routers. The room was weirdly shaped (slant walls) hence making it a little narrow. Very bad door closers. Injured my foot on it twice.

Review 39:Nice and clean boutique hotel. Location is close to the main attractions. All walking distance. Very courteous staff. Rooms are nice.

Review 40:San Sebastian is obviously a populair city to stay in during the summer. We found 200 euro for one night for a standaard room overpriced. If you are coming by car be sure to book a place in the hotelparking as it is hard to park outside the hotel. It is about 15 minuten walking to the old city.

Review 41:San Sebastian is great city. Theme of the hotel is movie stars which is nicely done.

Review 42:no swimming pool, got a small bag of laundry done and was charged 55euro for it! my own fault for not checking the price beforehand but didn't expect it to cost that much

Review 43:clean and comfortable, good breakfast

Review 44:Only that bath towels replaced everyday-not necessary but there was no choice.

Review 45:Excellent, friendly staff. Always very professional. Very comfortable bed but pillows less comfortable. Whole hotel very clean and beautifully presented.

Review 46:Great location if you like a nice walk to the front etc. (which we do). Great staff, nice busy cafeteria style breakfast and lovely bed. We would stay again at the drop of a hat.

Review 47:Air con was poor so we spent two very warm nights in the room. Be careful, booking.com directions are wrong, although you are very close you will need to ask a local.

Review 48:Great Shower, great atmosphere with the film stars & a good breakfast. Parking good too. Located away from all the scenic parts of town but a nice walk in (10mins) and only a €6 taxi fare back.

Review 49:1. Our room (no. 408) faced a building that was in the midst of construction, and hence, we had some privacy and it was rather quiet at night. 2. Loved the free DVD rental system and the high-quality movie selection (art films rather than mindless Hollywood blockbusters; e.g., "21 grams"). 3. Loved the tasteful interior decor. 4. Conveniently located: Bus nos. 26 and 28 took us directly to and from the Old Town; no sweat (only €1.10 per person per trip; 10-15 minutes' ride); bus terminal is across the road from the hotel (bus to Biarritz or from Bilbao); abundance of cafes nearby for tapas, cakes, and txakoli.

Review 50:Bad coffee and poor breakfast. Lacking quality of food. Coffee is shocking considering they have 2 lovely Jura machines

Review 51:Staff are very very friendly and couldn't do enough

Review 52:Location is ok but a bit of a walk to the interesting stuff. Restaurant was a bit overpriced but food was good. This isn't a problem though in a city with food everywhere you turn.

Review 53:A very groovy hotel. Big comfortable room and friendly, helpful staff.

Review 54:Expensive for the amount of noise you hear Our room was opposite a building site plus the ceilings are paper thin. You can hear EVERYTHING - the people upstairs coughing, flushing the chain, walking around, pulling out chairs, dropping stuff on the floor. The woman staying upstairs from us was constantly wearing stilettos and pushing chairs around. She woke us up at 2am on two occasions by walking around in heels and taking an early morning shower.

Review 55:Firm bed Free WiFi Not too far from town/the beach DVD rental option

Review 56:Thanks for a great stay! The beds and black out curtains were awesome, as was the air cond. the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Very impressed!

Review 57:Nothing. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 58:Best hotel bathroom. Walk in shower was fabulous. Hotel film theme is great. Lovely corridors and very quiet. Staff are friendly and helpful. You can walk to centre in 10 to 15 mins or take 28 bus to Boulevard. Car parking in hotel is excellent.

Review 59:Located a little too far from the old town and beach (25min walk) such that it prevented nipping back to hotel for swimmers or to get changed and go back out for dinner..... Could run a minibus a few times a day. Disappointed that some of the trips zingy ran on certain dates- more a San Sebastián rather than Astoria7 problem

Review 60:Good location for bus station to do day trips to Bilbao, Biarritz etc Staff ( both reception and tour desk) were amazing in dealing with Pesa when our bus tickets did not arrive. Gym was good but could have opened earlier

Review 61:Price quoted 250 Bill 330 Air con didn't work but it was not hot and I do not like air con anyway

Review 62:Nice bathroom and slept well No noise smell or mossies

Review 63:Not the hotels fault obviously, but the distance to beach and old town was quite a treck

Review 64:Lovely clean comfortable hotel, the movie star theme was excellent

Review 65:Great hotel for a short break in San Sebastián. Location close to public transport links is very handy and the 20 minute stroll into the old town allows you to see the fabulous architecture of the city.

Review 66:I thought that it was very expensive for what I paid. Location ok but need to be willing to walk.

Review 67:Perfectly decent hotel trying to be quirky with film theme. Very clean and well presented rooms.

Review 68:The wifi did not work in the room and was intermittent in the public areas. I used one of the fixed PCs in the Reception area - the speed was good but the PC displayed previous email addresses along with passwords - one click and anyone could access your account! Booking.com should consider removing wifi as a facility at this hotel.

Review 69:The hotel was of a good standard but not worth 180 euros per night.

Review 70:speedy check in,smiling happy staff. Car parking, easy acces to drive in out town.a good walk into city but bus service at door step excellent.breakfast very good. Wifi needed modem in room.

Review 71:Nothing I didn't like about the hotel, it is a good 20 minute walk to the old town and beach but there are good bus services (number 28 bus) from outside the hotel.

Review 72:we have stayed here before, it's a nice hotel with good sized rooms and big comfortable beds. The breakfast is also good with eggs cooked for you as requested rather than on a hot plate. Staff are helpful.

Review 73:Have no negative comments a kettle would be a added bonus

Review 74:A groovy hotel, great customer service and not very far from the action A easy straight walk to the beach, cento, and the old town.

Review 75:The hotel is a 25 mins walk from the beach and old town, which was longer than advertised and made the round trip a bit of a physical commitment - and we're fit people in our early 30s!

Review 76:Large, comfortable room with good fitness centre

Review 77:Located a bit far from old quarter of San Sebastian but the bus journey takes10 minutes and one every 15 minutes so no big deal.

Review 78:Brilliant staff and wonderful facilities.

Review 79:Booked several months in advance and had to prepay (unusual for booking.com) . I requested a double room for myself and my wife and a room with 2 single beds for my teenage kids. Arrive to be told no double beds available despite booking and paying months in advance. Not good enough in my opinion. Also wifi only works in lobby - needs upgrading.

Review 80:Decor

Review 81:The internet connection was poor and there was no effective A/C. We had to leave the window open at night. There was only a view into a back courtyard between adjacent buildings via a narrow window.

Review 82:Large comfortable bed and large marble tiled bathroom and high pressure hot water. The staff were very pleasant.

Review 83:Wi-fi was so-so. Not particularly fast. Probably average for public access. Zircon in room could not be controlled, the controller was disabled. Fortunately it wasn't a very hot night.

Review 84:Really high quality hotel. Immaculately clean and comfortable. Beautifully converted from old multiplex cinema and is themed throughout with hollywood stars. If you drive, make sure you book parking as on street parking is impossible.

Review 85:Staff was not helpful at all and kind of rude Cheap bed linen and pillows Not a nice view from the room (onto a garage/courtyard)

Review 86:Modern clean hotel The cinema theme is quite cool

Review 87:If pushed we would say that we found the bed hard. Personal preference I guess.

Review 88:You are greeted by Alfred Hitchcock in the foyer as the hotel has a film theme. Formerly a cinema. We liked the Location, Staff, Cleanliness, Room, Ambience, Breakfast. This hotel really has it all. Can't recommend highly enough.

Review 89:Everything on this stay was 5*. The staff was super nice and helpful. The cleanliness was top notch. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was also really nice with an Italian type of shower. The decoration (concept) was a good surprise - I stayed in Jeremy's Iron room.

Review 90:Not much! Wish the reception had stamps so I could post mail easily. The hair dryer had to be constantly pressed to work. I have a lot of hair so a bit of a work out.

Review 91:Great location. Friendly and helpful english speaking staff. Gorgeous lounge area with plenty of books and films on offer for chill out time. The restaurant food was fantastic. The location set back from the hectic beach but an easy 10 minute walk away. Handy bus depot nearby so excursions to other basque destinations easy,

Review 92:- building works across the courtyard, - location (ok for convenience to bus station, but long walk to old town and beaches) - corporate chain type hotel trying to be boutique hotel

Review 93:- comfy bed -large shower - lounge

Review 94:Our room was stylishly decorated and the whole hotel is themed on the annual Film Festival. Nice, buzzy cafe and breakfast area. A high percentage of business guests created a general but pleasant air of purpose.

Review 95:The hotel would benefit from having tea and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms. This is a significant gap in this horel's facilities. On one occasion we asked the hotel receptionist for advice on bus times she was helpful toa point but said she was busy. And had other more important tasks to attend to.

Review 96:Friendly staff in the cafe and receptionist other than one experience. Actor theme is quirky.

Review 97:Patronising staff member regarding restaurant advice. Hard bed. Power not working in room. Expensive breakfast. Too far from old town if staying for more than 1 or 2 nights. Wifi login needs password for every session.

Review 98:Modern. Stylish. Good breakfast.

Review 99:Loved everything about it, it's quirky, stylish, but very friendly & comfortable. The staff are all helpfull, the hotel was fresh & clean at all times, we will go back again bringing friends with us.

Review 100:Very bad location, Nearly 30 minutes from Oldcity / city center. Very bad wi-fi. Weak breakfast.

Review 101:Bed and stuff were nice . Very clean . Good concept.

Review 102:Room prices are to be lower, no doubt! The price for car parking is too high, real nonsense(((

Review 103:Nice & smart interior of the hotel and rooms, good facilities including gym!

Review 104:Internet was very slow, for me internet now is as important as hot water in the shower , you just can't sell me comfort without either. Bed was hard and not comfortable, towels quality was very modest.

Review 105:Room design was very well thought of. Quite and pleasant.

Review 106:Clean and comfortable room. Very spacious, with a large and modern bath. Beautiful library on the ground floor. We enjoyed the cinema theme, the decoration!

Review 107:Hotel was well situated, close to bus station and 15 minute walk to beach. Loved the cinema theme and enjoyed watching old movies in our room for free. Breakfasts were good value for money.

Review 108:The Wifi worked well but we had to log-in every day as our devices weren't automatically recognised. A small problem, it has to be said.

Review 109:We enjoyed the quirky cinema theme. The lounge was comfortable and we were impressed that the locals used the bar/restaurant for breakfast. The reception staff also indulged us by allowing us to practice our fledgling Spanish.

Review 110:Breakfast was bland and uninspiring.

Review 111:Room was spacious and very clean as well as bathroom. Location was quite good with nice corner bar and deli shop just around the corner eventhough a little bit far from the old town.

Review 112:It is a bit of a Walk to the old town but this is probably a good thing to walk off all the food! Just not so fun if it's raining so pack an umbrella!

Review 113:Loved the film star theme and that it is carried out throughout the whole hotel. Good room size & big bathroom compared to most european hotels. Loved that you could hire a dvd for free and watch it in your room whilst in a food coma from all the yummy food in town!

Review 114:The only drawback is that the hotel is about a 30 minute walk from the Old Town and local buses are not very easy to use without being able to speak Spanish.

Review 115:Our non-smoking room smelled very strongly of tobacco and the reception desk changed the room without any delay. Our room was comfortable, good size, clean with nice bathroom. Free wifi is great. The bar served nice food and very cheap drinks.

Review 116:The corridors and halls are spacious and attractively decorated. The rooms are luxurious and we liked the fun film theme. Staff were very helpful. Parking is an advantage.

Review 117:Not quite ideal location - some 20 minutes walk from old town/sea front. However is next to the main bus station. A minor niggle about the free WiFi - it was a coded login and password and required devices to be re-logged in each time you came back to the hotel.

Review 118:Easy to locate. Visually very impressive from outside. Whole hotel is decked out on the theme of films. Whole hotel is of an extremely good standard for the price paid. Rooms very good size, tastefully furnished, clean, well maintained. Hard to fault.

Review 119:Very clean and comfortable, very well finished. Staff very helful, especially night staff (Vanessa) who gave great assistance in helping to re-organise flights as a result of the French air traffic controllers strike

Review 120:Great position, modern, quiet and relaxing away from the hustle of the old town. Walk to the old town and beach through the local restaurants and shops. Breakfast is yummy and much cheaper than in the old town. Close to major bus station, car rental and station.

Review 121:The shower was really bad. You wouldn't expect a plastic shower cubicle in a 4 star hotel that has and shows some signs of attempting to be a design hotel. Windows should be at least double glazed... You could hear every noise from the street. Traveling with a 10month old and mentioning the need of a cot bed not having it when arriving to the room was disappointing but even more so when asking for one we were told that there was no available staff (I.e. "maid"/housekeeper) to bring it to the room.

Review 122:Breakfast had varied choices.

Review 123:If anything, it is a bit far from the old town, beach, etc. About 12-15 minutes walk. There are buses available though.

Review 124:Usually I'm pretty picky about the hotels, but with this one I have to say I couldn't anything wrong. Large rooms, free and fast WiFi, comfortable beds, excellent breakfast. Made-to-order hot dishes, fresh orange juice, Lots of fruits. Staff altitude exemplary, very polite and friendly.

Review 125:Rather unfriendly dismissal as we only had one passport on us - could have been a little more helpful and understanding instead of just basically telling us that we couldn't stay there. Eventually we were able to provide a copy. Should really warn people on arrival about the very aggressive parking restrictions 'R' = residents only (they had the telephone number of the pound at close hand like it was usual that clients cars be towed away!). Hard bed (although they very kindly provided me with a duvet to soften it up a little)

Review 126:Nice clean sytlish room, breakfast, restaurant, library etc

Review 127:breakfast wasn't good. parking is a little over priced at 18 euro a night

Review 128:huge, comfy bed. beautiful library to sit and enjoy drinks before dinner, helpful, friendly staff

Review 129:Too far from the old town - a bus ride is needed for older travellers

Review 130:Theme hotel, very well presented. Has a great Bar with Tapas - not many Restaurants near by but you don't need them
