Reviews for Son Borguny

Review 1:Beautiful hotel, romantic, tastefully decorated, each room has its own individual lovely style. We were staying in the luna room which has a beautiful view over the sea. Penny is a wonderful and warm-hearted host always caring for her guests. Thanks for a wonderful holiday! We can only recommend the hotel! Thank you penny and family! olaf + martin

Review 2:we had none

Review 3:we liked the unique style of the hotel, the staff were brilliant, very helpful and nothing too much trouble, in a nice quiet village so don't expect night clubs

Review 4:Would have preferred to have got a coffee pot instead of a cup of coffee each morning.

Review 5:Penny was extremely friendly and helpful, could not do enough for you.

Review 6:Renovations around the rooms would be necessary. The was some mold in the room, especially around the Windows. Matrace has seen better days.

Review 7:Very nice host. Great location.

Review 8:Everything as written in other reviews - excellent. Penny and family very friendly with great sense of humour; lovely, genuine Mallorcan atmosphere; lovely, old and very comfortable house in a very beautiful village; lovely walks by sea or mountains; lovely swimming in area's shingle coves; very comfortable with great nights' sleep; optional evening dinner top class; great breakfasts. Everything really!

Review 9:Penny (daughter) welcomed us when we arrived late at night, prepared delicious food for us. It was a beautiful start to our holiday and this place exuded warmth straight away. Next morning we met Penny (mother) and husband whose name escapes me. Both were equally warm, friendly and served a beautiful breakfast. They gave us and all the other guests their undivided attention, our comfort was their concern. Bella was wonderful too. Could not have asked for more. Our room was very nice too.

Review 10:Very friendly family run place. Different to the usual boutique style hotels. It has an alternative touch to it and you feel part of the family. Superb breakfast.

Review 11:The parking was very small and it was extremly difficult to park there but first of all Peggy can help you to park your car and secondly you can just park for free on the street and then walk to thr hotel 2-3 minutes, not a big problem. The hotel is situated on the hill so althouht it is quite close to the beach, it is not so easy to get there (or come back from the beach if you are not very fit person) but you wouldn´t have so stunning views if the hotel was situated closer to the beach.

Review 12:We stayed in Luna suite which has wonderful view, we really loved it. We also had jacuzzi in our room and it was so nice to relax there. Peggy thought of all details, even small ones such as special food for me (cheese was on the same plate as ham and when she notcied that I am vegeterian, she brought me cheese on a seperate plate, she really didn´t have to do this and I found it so nice of her). She is really charming woman and makes all her guests fill comfortable. The hotel is small (only 10 rooms) and cosy, I prefer such places that a big ones, you can fell like at home. There are fruits you can take during the day and also a fridge. We have also eaten in their Peggy´s restaurant (it is not in the hotel but on the main street) and we also recommend it, the food was fresh, delicius and no problems to receive vegeterian tapas! We highly recommend this hotel!!!

Review 13:Even though we arrive late the host was very accommodating and still offered to park our car in the small car park. Breakfast was amazing Bed and room was beautiful, tidy and nicely done

Review 14:The downside was accessibility for the car.The hotel's car park was extremely difficult but Penny was prepared to park it for you. We were in a Junior Suite at the top of the hotel with many steps so would have been difficult for anyone with mobility problems.

Review 15:The host Penny was super and could not have been more helpful. The hotel itself was small and intimate with lovely decor. Penny prepared lovely breakfasts.

Review 16:The only negative point is the access to parking. It's tricky! Very narrow with tight corners. Either bring a small car, or use the very good town car park, two minutes walk away. Penny is also very good at parking cars!

Review 17:Penny, the owner is welcoming and very helpful. Breakfast is great, continental style with fresh fruit, bread and pastries. Tucked away in a charming part of this unspoilt town. Some very good restaurants nearby, including one owned by the family.

Review 18:Breakfast to me was below average. Though garden compensated

Review 19:The young man at reception was most helpfull;sorted out our car collectionon stress and provided accurate information. the room consisted of large bedroom ,sitting room and large bathroom all with character. Very convenient-central- and great garden.

Review 20:We enjoyed one night in a nice, clean and well arranged apartment. If we would go to Banyalbufar again, we definitely would book this location again! Thank You for the wonderful breakfast!!!

Review 21:Penny was a fantastic host, made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We stayed with our 6 month old daughter, and stayed in the Moon junior suite, loved the whirlpool Jacuzzi, what a treat! Would certainly recommend to our family and friends.

Review 22:Wifi was sporadic

Review 23:Genuine small family run hotel. Penny, the owner, could not have been more helpful. Very laid back atmosphere. Wonderful village with great walks nearby.

Review 24:Some things that is better to know and that are already reported in other feedbacks: the car park is really small and difficult to reach. A dimension like a golf is ok, bigger is very difficult. The water availability in the village is quite critical and some days we had issues with the shower due to water low pressure. Something to know is that around the hotel there are many cats that interact with the guests, take care if you are allergic.

Review 25:The Banyalbufar village is very beatifull and characteristic. We were in the upper suite with an amazing view on the sea. The bed is perfect and very confortable. Penny is very helpfull. The breackfast is really nice with salty and suit specialities.Even the restaurant is good with special price for the hotel guests. If you are looking for an holliday to relax the place is perfect; main beaches can be reached in maximum 2 hours.

Review 26:Son Borguny is a misterious, hidden place for travellers who look out for warm-hearted and personal treatment in a secret place. Each room has its own touch and lovely details, breakfast and great coffee is prepared with love, the village invites to relax and calm down and/or start stunningly beautiful hiking tours of all levels. But overall it was the personal treatment we received from the host, at any time she was trying to make our stay one of the best we ever had travelling, high flexibility, knowing perfectly well the hiking tours, offering delicious food, being very mindful for personal issues, taking care of her awsome little hotel, but overall welcoming people in her own embracing way. Thank you, Penny, for these wonderful days!

Review 27:- nothing

Review 30:Location, friendly staff, good food

Review 31:some noise from the stairs

Review 32:nice room, beautiful old building, cosy atmoshpere, warming people and a very, very good restaurant and a perfect service!

Review 33:Nothing

Review 34:A very warm family atmosphere, beautiful decorations, excellent food in the restaurant

Review 35:A warm, friendly and personal hotel. Penny is very welcoming and helpful.

Review 36:nothing comes to mind

Review 37:location, staff, breakfast, overall charm

Review 38:Very nice village and nature. Breakfast. During our stay, the best hotel / bed&breakfast.

Review 39:The warm welcome, the gorgeous breakfast, the fabulous room. We really couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough.

Review 40:Location

Review 41:...too many stairs to reach the room ...

Review 42:The atmosphère , the home spirit and the décoration.

Review 43:Staff are outstanding make it a perfect place.

Review 44:Thanks to Penny for a very warm welcome. Nice walks and good food.

Review 45:Very friendly staff, loved Penny! Lovely breakfast, rooms spacious and very pretty. We were there to go walking and Penny was knowledgeable on walks in the area which was really helpful. On good bus route also, would recommend a stay here!

Review 46:overpriced dinner (no menu, no warning of 'surprises') steep climb to the hotel from the town main streets

Review 47:location/view to the ocean; country life; free room upgrade

Review 48:access to parking is very tight and not advisable for anything but a very small car

Review 49:quietness; friendly , helpful staff' characterful buildings, good food, lovely views from rooms

Review 50:The car park is very difficult to access (particularly during Fiesta week!). However, plenty of parking elsewhere.

Review 51:Delightful owners, fascinating old building, fantastic views, excellent location in a lovely village.

Review 52:Town beach might be less rocky, however this is nature and should be accepted as it is. People who do not like to descent slopes and then ascent Everest back may not like steps/streets/roads/errands between the hotel and the beach. There were roosters cocking at night and motos are always heard -- this may wake up you. Rooster might have been already eaten ;) but motos are inevitable evil. You may not like people talking in the restaurant as well you go to bed earlier.

Review 53:Perfect views. Spacious rooms with good furniture (looking even antique and made of wood, not of that chemical сhipboards), each room has different colour/design. Breakfasts is with a little choice, but owners vary it each day. The town is nice. The hostess (Penny) is very friendly and helpful. She offered us a better room (called "Luna" -- there is no room numbers -- only names) with a spectacular sea-view, once this room got freed. About parking: having read reviews I expected the worse, but if you are a really careful and experienced driver and if you were sober enough NOT to rent car bigger than Polo-class it is not a problem. If I had a Fiat 500 or Fiat Panda I guess I would be capable to drive to that parking even relaxed way. Of course the first time you should be shown where to drive and where to turn the car. Sunsets pleased us a lot.

Review 54:Parking was extremely difficult (had to go through steep and narrow streets); we scratched our car one day. Almost every day we had to ask for shampoo and shower gel. Towels and sheets were quire worn out.

Review 55:Really nice rustic rooms with view to vineyards. The hotel is located in Banyalbufar which is one of the nicest villages of Mallorca. Staff was very friendly and breakfast was rich and delicious.

Review 56:One door knob missing...

Review 57:A small 8-bedroom hotel, very friendly staff, fantastic atmosphere, excellent food, cosy cosy, beautiful view over the mediteranian sea

Review 58:We have them invisible

Review 59:Quiet, calming. Beautiful views of the mountains and the sea. Very friendly and welcoming hosts and the restaurant staff. I want to go back again!

Review 60:I love this hotel, i will stay again soon. Penny , the owner, is just so frendly and the location is just magnificent . Do not miss the chance to spent some time at Son Borguny.

Review 61:Dont try to drive in to the hotel unless you have a really small car, ora perfect sense of space.

Review 62:Nice room, view of vineyards at the back. The breakfasts are excellent. The dinner we had there was the best in Mallorca. Nice terrace outsidewith sea and village view. Lovely village and good swimming, lovelywalks behind the hotel.

Review 63:The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast wasgreat, with fresh fruits, real coffee and freshly prepared eggs. The hotel's restaurant is serving a menu dinner (20 euros for4 courses!)

Review 64:The bedroom had a completely broken chest of drawers, which looked bad. There was a broken light outside the bedroom which was not fixed whilewe were there. Shockingly poor meal in hotel restaurant. I understandthe restaurant is not run by the hotel owners and therefore I feel badabout leaving this review but it does not reflect well on the hotel andthe poor meal somewhat ruined the experience as it was my 40th birthdaymeal. The food came out completely cold and when we sent it back(embarrassed) the food - slices of pork - came back having been frazzledunder the grill (ie the sauce had been caramelised). Meanwhile the frieshad obviously been left on the side as they then came out cold! This wasa really embarrassing experience as it all seemed to happen with not somuch good grace, at least on the part of the chef! Not good for a hotelwhich clearly (and rightly so) bills itself on quality. The amazingbreakfast and lovely owners could only partly make up for the poor food.

Review 65:Very friendly, lovely owners - very helpful. Absolutely fabulousbreakfast, one of best I've had in hotels. Very nicely decorateddownstairs.

Review 66:If you are expecting a huge parking at the entrance of the hotel and an elevator to your room, look for something else. However, if you can live without it, this is THE place to come!

Review 67:Penny and the rest of the staff simply make you feel at home. Rooms are clean, cozy and quiet. Wondeful for sport enthusiasts like me: beach, mountain and amazing roads for cycling!

Review 68:The hot water was boiling and came out erratically - having a shower without getting too hot or cold was a challenge. Not really a complaint as everything else was great.

Review 69:The host was brilliant. On discovering it was our anniversary she upgraded our room to a larger one as soon as she was able. She was friendly ands helpful without being intrusive.

Review 70:Can't think of much - quite easy to hear noise from other rooms, but not a problem when I stayed as the hotel was fairly quiet.

Review 71:Attractive, rustic ambience, location, comfortable room, good home cooking, helpful owner (Penny).

Review 72:Location, staff, room,breakfast.

Review 73:A gorgeous place to stay, with a very friendly welcome. Tranquil and comfortable accommodation, with a wonderful breakfast. Thank you!

Review 74:Attentive and enthusiastic service from Penny. Excellent Breakfast.

Review 75:Absolutely great people owning this hotel. Best possible place for hikers and off beaten track people coming out of season.

Review 76:dark dull damp bathroom

Review 77:A really peaceful hotel and a very welcoming and friendly host. Everything was perfect.

Review 78:service was impeccable. kind and hospitable.
