Reviews for TRH Mijas

Review 1:Our first room was very tired, but to be fair they accommodated our request for a change to a lovely recently reformed room with pool and pueblo views.

Review 2:Excellent Location. Very friendly and helpful staff. All receptionists were attentive and efficient. Would return again!

Review 3:No black marks but hotel is looking a little tired and reception could always be more warm and cordial.

Review 4:Stayed here some 4 years ago and so highly impressed that we made a return visit. Hotel enjoys a stunning location and has excellent facilities.

Review 5:We liked it's location in the centre of Mijas as we wanted to celebrate New Year's Eve in the town. We did not want to drink & drive and did not want to chance getting a taxi in the early hours of New year's day.

Review 6:The location of this hotel is fantastic , the views are amazing . Gardens are emaculate . Staff are friendly and the girls in the spa very helpfull .

Review 7:The only thing that we found to moan about was the comfort of the beds, they were on the hard side but we could put up with this as we were only there for 3 nights.

Review 8:The hotel is situated in a good position with great views from the terrace. We loved the andalucian style hotel with friendly helpful staff. We only ate breakfast at the hotel and found it to be fine with plenty of choice, especially, fresh fruit. It was a short stroll to reach the centre of Mijas. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and it was great value for money and we would visit again.

Review 9:There was nothing I totally disliked.

Review 10:Everything was very clean but a little old fashioned. Needs an update. Beds a little hard but topper available. The breakfast was really excellent. Enjoyed my stay.

Review 11:Disappointed with the food we went In early December and the choice was poor. Would have liked the outdoor pool to have been heated so we could have used it

Review 12:Good position clean & staff friendly

Review 13:Our room was a bit tired.

Review 14:Location, near to buses and own parking. Breakfast had good choice. Evening buffet gave a choice. Linen was good. Close to good Spanish restaurants.

Review 15:Parking a bit expensive

Review 16:Loved the traditional feel and elegance, it is a little tired in places but we enjoyed the older furnishings, prints and effects, we hope they are retained in any upgrade

Review 17:Room 326, Bad stain on bathroom floor, bedside lamp hanging off the wall, towels extremely small and thin, cobweb on ceiling in bedroom area, noisy bed ( squeaked loudly when you moved)

Review 18:Staff, location and breakfast

Review 19:The carpets are filthy, very noisy in the middle of the night, door slamming and a lot of movement of people during the night

Review 20:Hotel is central, food was reasonable and well priced,

Review 21:We paid for a superior room and the hallway carpets were very stained and terrible smell of damp, also the bathroom had terrible smells,

Review 22:The position was perfect The hotel was good although dated in parts Food was good and the price was fantastic

Review 23:Awful hot drinks machines for breakfast serving up ghastly drinks! The same for juices. Four star should mean fresh fruit juice, not some sherbet tasting concoction! Rooms a little jaded.

Review 24:Very elegant hotel. Very impressive foyer and lounges, excellent pool terrace and views to the coast.

Review 25:The hotel is dated and needs investment and quick!! The fitness room is laughable and is the worse I have ever seen in 35 years travelling!!

Review 26:It does retain some Spanish charm although this equally could be called dated. Location is good within easy walking distance of Mijas Pueblo

Review 27:The paper thin walls between rooms making it rather embarrassing at times and interrupting sleep. The stained carpets were not inviting!

Review 28:The magnificent location. The views from the room and the closeness to the centre of Mijas.

Review 29:Mijas is a lovely town and well worth visiting during the day. Unfortunately it is rather desolate at night especially in late October. The hotel is undergoing some refurbishment, which is needed, and because of this we experienced quite a lot of noise. The reception staff were very helpful and we moved rooms twice. Eventually we had a lovely room, quiet, clean and good value for money. Super choice at breakfast, too!

Review 30:In my opinion this is not a 4 star hotel. Fixtures and fittings are not just old fashioned but are old, tatty and tired. The beds are extremely uncomfortable. The breakfast is awful. There are additional charges for things that one would expect to be included in the room rate i.e. safety deposit box, gym (with ancient equipment), sauna and jacuzzi.

Review 31:The Hotel is in a great position in arguably one of the prettiest villages in the area. It has wonderful views down to the coast and surroundings hills. The hotel is charming with great traditional atmosphere and the bar, lounge and terrace areas are really pretty. Having said that the hotel corridors and bedrooms have a faded appearance and could do with a makeover. The staff were excellent and I was surprised to find out that my hotel rate included parking in their underground car park which normally costs €10/day. I visited during last week in October and I suspect parking at the hotel and the village would be difficult in the high season. As vegans we never expect too much for breakfast but soya milk and veggie spread was available. Plenty of nice restaurants - The Indian Fusion Restaurant in Peace Plaza is excellent, the Aroma Cafe and Jardin Secreto a lovely experience in the evening, and for really good food and value the Hong Kong Restaurant a few yards from the hotel. I needed to watch the World cup semi finals and can recommend the Oasis Bar a 5 min walk from the hotel. Highly recommended

Review 32:The hotel in places was very tired it had a gym which was so out of date you couldnt use it safely in my opoinion. The hotel advertises a jacuzzi but you have to have a spa treatment or pay extra which can be misleading. The restaurant was self service and would get very busy not even a drink served to you all from a machine.

Review 33:the staff were excellent and friendly. The location was great for bars and had a great view.

Review 34:The staff are great on reception but bar staff leave a lot to be desired especially as outside the hotel all restaurant and bar staff very friendly.

Review 35:Location, facilities and very good value.

Review 36:Lots of tour groups at breakfast causing queues at coffee machine. Three machines aren't enough to cope. They would really benefit from a dedicated hot water machine for people just wanting tea. The breakfast is good though, just needs some reorganisation.

Review 37:This was my 4th stay. The hotel is excellent value for money in a lovely location. Rooms are in a traditional style but very clean with modern facilities like a flat screen tv and a fridge.

Review 38:What was there to dislike?.

Review 39:We have been before (in fact this was our 4th time) Location, rooms (we had a superior), cleanliness and staff very good as always. Will definitely go again.

Review 40:No tea coffee making facilities in the room. We took our own kettle etc. more pillows for the bed one is never enough.

Review 41:Situation of hotel in relation to town. Very good. Clean and comfortable. The cobbled stone drive way was very cute and welcoming. Balcony on our room was nice to sit out.

Review 42:The area in October was very quiet from 9 pm but during the day the area is beautiful lots of shops bars and restaurants.

Review 43:The hotel was in an excellent area food was good and the hotel and grounds were immaculate . Staff were very helpful .

Review 44:Wifi useless

Review 45:Easy to drive to and park underground. Excellent room with a great view. Great English breakfast. Staff were very helpful. Many restuarants in town centre nearby.

Review 46:Unfortunately, there was a festival the week we were there so a great deal of noise in the early hours of the morning.

Review 47:The location was brilliant, a short walk into the town to shops and restaurants.

Review 48:The hotel was very very busy and that made the rush at breakfast time a bit frantic - had to wait for a vacant table despite the valiant efforts of the staff who worked tirelessly to clear up. The toast machine never worked properly and the vending machine tea was a nightmare.....breakfast became a daily challenge & not a relaxing start to the day!

Review 49:Great pool, great location for access to the village, lovely staff in the breakfast room. Good to have a fridge and balcony in the superior room .

Review 50:Poor wifi...only in lobby. ...coffee machines and slow toaster...

Review 51:Lovely room looking down towards the coast. Very quite and relaxing. Nice pool and seating area. Overall a great hotel in excellent location in Mijas. Highly recommend.

Review 52:We couldn't say a bad word about the hotel or facilities, from the staff to the facilities everything was first class and we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning on going to Mijas or the surrounding areas.

Review 53:We stayed at this hotel the night before and night of my sisters wedding in Mijas. The staff were so friendly, let us check into our rooms earlier than scheduled and did anything they could to help us on the morning of the wedding. Breakfast was great and there was a large selection of food to chose from.

Review 54:The only thing that could be improved upon would be the addition of tea and coffee facilities in the bedrooms and a fridge ( though it is possible to rent one at an extra charge)

Review 55:Excellent location with just a short walk to bars and restaurants. Stunning views and tranquil pool area for relaxing.

Review 56:Made several room reservations with the request to be close by, this wasn't even acknowledged as all parties were scattered all over the hotel. I even rang the hotel a couple of days prior to our arrival. I had booked a superior room with a seaview but was very disappointed to find that although the sea could just about be seen in the distance, it was overlooking a car park. Other members of the group in standard rooms had a lovely seaview and over looking the pool. Having paid extra for a superior room I felt cheated.

Review 57:Great Location on the edge of Mijas

Review 58:Especially for a woman alone, the system at breakfast was awful. Why can't, at least, coffee and tea be brought to the table to show that it is occupied? The dining room is very unwelcoming because the tables are not set.

Review 59:The fact that as a woman alone I did not have to go down a corridor to my room. I found the staff friendly but not over attentive.

Review 60:Additional charges applied for everything from the room safe to pool towels. Staff and few and far between and not very friendly.

Review 61:The location is perfect.

Review 62:Some of the sunbeds were grubby at the foot area and looked unsavoury. Pool had black bits on the bottom between the tiles making it look unclean. Restaurant food was adequate but not excellent and ambience felt like a canteen with clattering trolleys and bright lighting also queuing up for hot drinks is too time consuming and annoying.

Review 63:The proximity to the village is excellent and the staff cheerful and helpful. The pool has a swimming instructor in attendance who is prepared to get in the water and teach guests to swim as well as being on hand in case of emergencies. The lady who gave me a massage was the best I have ever had.

Review 64:This is not a 4 star hotel. Had to pay for extras safe, fridge, parking. Wi-fi was nonexistent. Breakfast was a shambles with not enough cups for guests. Carpets were shabby. This hotel is resting on it's laurels with their unique location.

Review 65:Views.

Review 66:This hotel's location, rustic character, wonderful staff and faultless facilities gelled perfectly towards providing us with a fabulous Andalusian style holiday. We experienced a simply wonderful 5-day vacation.

Review 67:No drinks available like water, tea or coffee without costs at dinner. Meals were ok at best. Everything was an add on cost. Beds were rather uncomfortable.

Review 68:Location in the village of Mijas and also the proximity to coastal towns is very convenient. Pool was very nice. The views are stunning.

Review 69:The food is terrible, not worth having, would have been better booking room only as we ended up eating out a lot as the food was so bad, there was no shortage of the food, but the quality was terrible, lots of nice restaurants very close and well priced.

Review 70:The views were excellent, location was great

Review 71:The Hotel was loveley although a little 'tired', some aspects are in need of updating, eg corridoor carpets. This though, does not detract from the overall presentation of the hotel, all together in keeping with a hotel of this age, and the rooms wer all clean, tody and well presented, after all you don't sleep in the corridoor! :) (Hope this doesn't put anyone off!)

Review 72:Superby located Hotel, with plesant accomodation, we had a suite. Balcolny included with excellent panoramic views over the coast. Warm friendly staff with excellent multi language capabilities. Impressive reception with plenty of space for suitcases of multiple people. Clean tidy friendly atmosphere around the poolside & good range of food & drinks available. Evening in the bar was good too, views over the night sky and coast, all lit up from the balcolny seats.

Review 73:WiFi was awful.

Review 74:We only stayed one night but found this hotel to be very friendly The staff were welcoming and very proud of their hotel. The pool had loads of sunbeds around it so no issues there and a very nice pool bar that was shaded (my husband doesn't sumbathe so had a very pleasant few hours there). The breakfast was good and at no time ran out of anything. Overall a very pleasant, relaxing time. Thank you x

Review 75:Did not like , staff unfriendly, expensive food and drink, cockroaches running around the room, loud air-conditioning, bed uncomfortable, no room service,

Review 76:the views !!

Review 77:The property is very run down. It is rated at a 4 star on your site, however it presents as a incredibly tired 2 star motel...

Review 78:The location and views from the hotel are magic

Review 79:That we didn't stay longer!!

Review 80:This hotel is great - most beautiful location with fantastic view. Very attractive, spacious pool with poolside bar/cafe. Friendly staff, very clean throughout, comfortable rooms with the all important air con.Very comfortable beds and spacious bathroom with good shower and bath. Has on site parking for small fee and is in a perfect location for all amenities, especially the donkey taxis, just a short walk away..Breakfast, although not the best we have had, was very good with a great variety to suit everyone. My biggest regret is that we did not stay in this hotel for the three night duration when visiting the Costa del Sol and moved on to the Veramar hotel in Fuengirola. Silly mistake as TRH Mijas was far superior in every way. Ignore any negative comments about this hotel and just go stay in it! You will not be disappointed! We will definitely be back! Well pleased!

Review 81:In our short four day stay we found nothing to dislike. No complaints.

Review 82:Everything about the hotel was as good as we expected. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice.

Review 83:Our balcony was very close to a very well used public iron staircase. I felt that it encroached on our privacy, and limited the amount of time we would normally have spent outside our room.

Review 84:The location of the hotel and the excellent weather.

Review 85:The bedrooms need to be modernised, they are rather tired.

Review 86:The view from the terrace is stunning. The lounges and bar areas are beautiful with lovely furniture. Lots of space for sunloungers away from pool area.

Review 87:The staff can be rude. No wifi through the hotel only at reception and even at reception it's not great

Review 88:The views are beautiful. The peace and quiet is pure bliss and the pool is fab

Review 89:Nice Large terrace with plenty of sunbeds, but only 6 parasols, when there was space for 18 or more!!! Small room with no armchair (when 4*)!

Review 90:The town was cosy. Hotels location was good.

Review 91:Wi-Fi was limited to reception area

Review 92:The building, rooms , grounds and pool were all clean and well maintained. The staff were helpful and the food was excellent. Within east reach of the shops and restaurants

Review 93:Not much to dislike really. The main bug bear was the shower, not enough water pressure so impossible to wash hair with it.

Review 94:the location was lovely, our room overlooked the tennis court and then straight down to the sea. The breakfast selection was good although the coffee was awful. good to have secure underground parking especially in the hot weather we experienced.

Review 95:There was nothing I didn't like it was all fab

Review 96:The hotel is absolutely stunning and the view from our room was breathtaking! The food was very varied with plenty of choice and was delicious. I went for my birthday and staff were excellent too. The spa was nice and relaxing and the pool area is gorgeous with plenty of sun loungers for all.

Review 97:15 Euro deposit for pool towels is a bit much, service could be a little slow but that seems to be a Spanish thing, WiFi available in reception only, though it did mean we switched off which was nice!

Review 98:Walking distance of plenty of shops & restaurants. 15 minute drive from coast

Review 99:Hotel very quaint but bedrooms dated booked superior room can't see why it was classed as superior! Drinks were expensive

Review 100:Loved pool area , location to town, staff were great

Review 101:Wifi only in reception and bar area

Review 102:Nice and clean,helpful staff,great breakfast,wonderful pool area.good location,parking at hotel,also free public parking close by.

Review 104:We didn't have a bad experience as such. Problem is I knew this hotel 30 years ago when it was a smaller, luxury hotel. Now it has been vastly expanded and is clearly geared at Tour Operators. Interior a little tired and the absence of free wifi in the room of a 4 star hotel is not ok. It feels like they have to milk you for every cent to survive. Maybe I am biased because I knew this place when it was something else, but I would rate it at 3 stars tops.

Review 105:The location and the "English Bar". Pool area nice too. Room size/bathroom fine. Staff (the ones we interacted with very friendly - especially the bartender at the English/poolside Bars

Review 106:Absolutely stunning hotel with excellent staff members that couldn't do enough for you. Nothing was too much trouble. Ideal location, far enough away for rest and relaxation but just a short walk to the town. Will definitely be making another trip here!

Review 107:Location was amazing .Great breakfast every morning with wonderful variety of foods. Loved the friendliness of the staff and cleanliness of hotel.Great pool area. Bedroom was beautiful and I was so sad when our stay came to an end. C'ant wait to go back there.

Review 108:The hotel rooms could do with a refresh of the decor but were clean and comfortable.

Review 109:A peaceful relaxing hotel in a beautiful location. The perfect place to chill out.

Review 110:Wifi only available in hotel foyer but I was lucky enough to have some signal in Room 42 due to its proximity to the bar. Pool Snack Bar prices very expensive for standard of food and drink. Breakfast staff rude constantly banging dishes and choice of food basic. No atmosphere in evening bar.

Review 111:The pool area was comfortable and no shortage of beds. The hotel location is perfect for Mijas Pueblo and has a bus stop adjacent. Lovely coastal view from my balcony.

Review 112:No wi fi in room or round pool.

Review 113:Lovely hotel in village location - close to restaurants Easy trip by bus from Fuengirola. Good pool and nice cocktail bar with stunning views

Review 114:Checking out only two staff to cover About 11 people

Review 115:Picturesque view and lovely ambiance throughout interior. Room was very comfortable Breakfast was varied to cover broad Range cliental

Review 116:Perhaps because it was peak season but but if a pain with people reserving sun beds at 7am but not using them until the afternoon - quite a few disgruntled families who could not get near the pool or any shade for the children because of those selfish enough to reserve and not use the shades sun beds .. Wifi only worked in reception area which was a bit disappointing.

Review 117:Location and views and proximity to village. Nice big pool kept very clean . Buffet was great for the kids . Couple of issues with our room when we first checked in but they moved us to another room with no fuss and no problem the same day .

Review 118:The standard of the bedroom was certainly not to 4 star standard. The towels provided were small, thin and not really what was expected. The choice for breakfast was good, but the 'hot' choices were, at best, lukewarm.

Review 119:The staff were friendly and helpful, though 1 or 2 could have done with personality bypasses. Car parking was good, though at 10 euros a day, expensive, when you can park in the local multi-storey for 1 euro for 24 hours.

Review 120:Didn't like the location of the room, it was on the ground floor and the "neighbours" would put their table and chairs outside "our space" therefore infringing on our space and we had no privacy. We did mention this to the staff but as we were only staying 2 nights didn't ask to change rooms.

Review 121:Relaxing by the pool.

Review 122:The standard of the hotel was way below standard for a 4 star hotel. Rooms was due a renovation several years ago! Breakfast buffet was cheapest possible!

Review 123:Beds are noisy and uncomfortable. Food is okay at best with limited choice. Wifi is free but only in reception

Review 124:Very relaxing stay, great location away from the hustle and bustle of Fuengirola .

Review 125:On holidays in nearby Fuengirola, we decided on a mini excursion for onenight to the trh. Booked well in advance, looking forward to a relaxingday by the pool. No chance! Expecting a quiet pool area, we arrived tofind 15 to 20 half cut Brits who had taken over the pool, nobody stood achance so we stayed by the pool for half hour and left. Spoiled our longanticipated day.

Review 126:Lovely hotel. Rooms were very clean, well maintained and comfortable.Location is excellent, short walk to Mijas centre, up some steep stepsoutside the hotel though.

Review 127:There were only a few amenities with low quality. The breakfast was poor. They even charged €3 to use a safty box. I was only able to use wifi around the reception. I don't want to stay this hotel any more.

Review 128:They provided underground parking for €10 per night.

Review 129:No bad experiences, all was ideal for 2 nights.

Review 130:Edge of town location, away from any outside noise yet close to all amenities. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, safe, covered car parking 200 mtrs walk from hotel for only 1 euro for 25 hours. Good size pool and lounging areas. Pleasant public spaces and lounges. Great value.

Review 131:Lovely hotel, very clean, good breakfast, plenty of space to sunbathe. We travelled by motorbike so the garage was great to park the bike, would definately go back.

Review 132:The room was in poor condition. Peeling paint on ceiling, cracked and grubby stool in bathroom, most uncomfortable pillows ever, grumpy morning receptionist, no drinking water in room

Review 133:Location is great and view over the sea is fantastic. Fantastic air and close to great little restaurants

Review 134:Would suggest having hotel bar open earlier on evening as 7:30 is quite late but other than that had a lovely stay

Review 135:Location is fab and staff could not do enough for guests

Review 136:Very short staffed at breakfast, some people clearing there own tables Dishes plates piled up Nobody around to assist

Review 137:Very close to center of town Room nice with balcony overlooking pool Style of hotel & beautiful view over coast

The Fine Print

All rooms in TRH Mijas are non-smoking.
