Reviews for Sa Baronia
Review 1:Unfortunately the welcome could have been much improved. Not even a smile and we were asked if we wanted to pay an extra 10 euros for a sea view room to which we said no, only to be told then that we had done well as the only rooms they had left were sea view rooms! Rooms a bit tired and in need of some love.
Review 2:The location can't be beat, stunning views over the sea and a 30 second walk from the bus stop, right in the heart of the village
Review 3:typical spare breakfast without surprises, but ok
Review 4:Nice typical Hotel in the style of Majorca. Wonderful view onto the rough coast Good service and friendly Hotel people Good place to start walking tours in the south / mid of the Island Food ok
Review 5:My one issue is not with the hotel but with Booking.com website which says there is a hairdryer in the room but there wasn't. Had to ask for it at reception and then there was only one so I had to share it with my sister. If we had known we would have taken our own with us but having to share meant it took longer to get ready for the evening which was a bit of a pain when it could have been avoided. You need to manage people's expectations better than that.
Review 6:Sa Baronia is a genteel, traditional hotel with a wonderful atmosphere. Didn't stay for dinner but breakfast was a marvellous spread with plenty to choose from -you couldn't go hungry! Would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Review 7:Breakfasts could be better organised for alfresco dining, as the sea view terrace is amazing. But guests have to make frequent trips back in to the dining area for food, cutlery and refreshments, etc.
Review 8:Location, staff and old fashion ambience
Review 9:My husband and myself did not like the way we were met at the reception, it was not friendly at all. During 2 nights we stayed in Baronia we did not feel welcomed. I think the place would benefit if they change this attitude
Review 10:The area where the hostel locates is nice, it is central and the view from the sea view balcony is amazing
Review 11:A bit noisy in the evenings: just below the hotel there is a playground where local kids are very active quite late (midnight or later). The place is not ideal for small kids (less than 3). We had our own travel cot and the stuff provided the high chair for eating.
Review 12:great location, relaxed and calm atmosphere, lovely sunset views. The place is ideal for adults or older kids.
Review 13:Wi-fi in room could be better; would be nice to have a coffee set in the room
Review 14:This is a hotel with THE view - absolutely fantastic. Take a room with balcony, even price is higher it’s worth that. The hotel is placed in a historical building - very beautiful with its own unique atmosphere, run by really interesting family. Good dinner served locally - tasty local food and price better that in local restaurant. There is a terrace on the top floor- stunning view. Good swimming pool but a beach is also really very nice although you need to walk about 10 min. The village is fantastic, quiet and relaxing- worth staying longer.
Review 15:Old rooms but really nice outdoor spaces : as a result, it seems to be expensive for what it is, especially if you don't book a room with a terasse
Review 16:Beautiful view
Review 17:Rooftop terrace and lounge with awesome view, cozy private pool, good food, clean rooms. Staff was really nice to us. Some reviewers complained about the noisy rooms and thin walls. Inspite these facts, we couldn't say we were bothered by noises from adjacent rooms.
Review 18:The sound isolation of the rooms is terrible - you can hear your neighbours whispering. The "fan", which is supposed to substitute the a/c was a joke. The beds were squeaky and felt like hammocks. That being said, if you are willing to sacrifice a good nights sleep for a view, this place will suite you perfectly.
Review 19:The location was great - the terrace and some of the rooms are overlooking the sea. The rooms were cleaned every day.
Review 20:This place definately has own lovely charm and this is something very special. Hotel has interesting architecture, there is terrace and also pool with top views. And our room had brilliant sea view. You can have a dinner in hotel restaurant and finish this at the terrace looking the sunset and drinking local wine, this is just magic. I would like to go back right now:) Village is also lovely, quiet and nice to walk around, or actually this means climbing on stairs up and town.
Review 21:What I did not really liked was the bed comfort and no WIFI in the rooms (there's also no tv etc). Mostly elder people stay in this hotel.
Review 22:Very nice view from the lovely terrace! Make sure to get a room with sea view for the lovely sunsets :-) Nice staff, always ready to help you out or poor a beer even after 23pm :-)
Review 23:Lack of hairdryer in the room; mattress was a bit hammock-like; rooms are not exactly sound proof (you can hear neighbours snoring).
Review 24:Location is excellent; 180 degree view of the mediterranean from the room balcony, and the roof terrace; lovely ambience of a hotel from the 1950's, including the retro evening meal; the quiet cosiness of the village, and the selected choice of good restaurants.
Review 25:Staff could have been friendlier and shower cubicle was very small with curtain that stuck to you. There was space for it to have been at least six inches larger.
Review 26:The hotel is definitely old fashioned but the terrace, pool and view make up for that, if indeed that is a problem. Rooms are pretty basic as is breakfast. Dinner was good value but we didn't actually eat there so can't comment on quality. However the dining room was full and used by many of the guests who were mainly German.
Review 27:Musty smell in room but bathroom was spotless. Fans of Agatha Christie would love this hotel, it was like being transported back in time.
Review 28:Location and sea views - it was like being on the balcony of a cruise ship.
Review 29:the beds were not comfortable, they looked really cheap like in a hostel the breakfast was exactly the same every day and not many options so if you stay more than 3 days you run out of options
Review 30:the view from the terrace, the terrace
Review 31:Lots of stairs if you had difficulties walking. We had no problem but some might have. Car parking 5minutes away up hill.
Review 32:Lovely views from hotel terrace And bedroom balcony Simple but good breakfast Plenty of chairs and recliners around pretty pool. Very friendly family.
Review 33:If you have kids it might not be the best place, as the rock & concrete beach is quite hard to reach and there is not very much to do. Also, you should be wary to plan your vacation here if you do not have a car. The elevated terrain can be quite exhausting f.e. by foot or by bike, and other places (villages, beaches, etc) are somewhat hard to reach. Palma is at least 40 mins. away by car so this is not a party place either. Depending on the location of your room and the other guests it can be somewhat noisy.
Review 34:If you want to get a bit away from the sandy, overcrowded beaches and enjoy a unique piece of mallorcan's world heritage in a calm, private and friendly athmosphere, this place is for you. The pool is like a hidden pearl and the view and surroundings are superb. The tenants of Sa Baronia are experienced, helpfull and friendly and took care of our every need like a family would do. This is a place we'd gladly call our home, and the pricing is very democratic. We enjoyed beautifull sunsets every day with fresh drinks on the elevated terrace, the restaurants in the village have some great local cuisine to offer. We'll be back for more...
Review 35:They don't outline in the description that banyalbufar is a quiet mountain town. Hiring a car is a MUST. Only a few restaurants to choose from. The 'beach' that is 200 meters away is really just a concrete path boarding into really rough water. If they were honest about the location and it's amenities it would allow people to make an educated decision. Most of the staff were lovely however one in particular was extremely rude and un accommodating
Review 36:Too much noise when the staff start to prepare breakfast Staff like "one word is too much and two are not enough"
Review 37:Banyalbufar Location Terrace
Review 38:It was incredibly hot in the room. But ey, what do you expect from Spain in summer. LOL
Review 39:Absolutely recommendable. Great view. Great location. One of the best places in Mallorca, def. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 40:...lead by polyglot and super friendly people. The views are as fantastic as you can see on the photos. The building is an ancient palace and you almost feel the presence of the former baron there. It's classy yet simple at the same time. The staff is very helpful and really fluent in French, German, English, and of course Mallorquin and Castilian. The rooms are obviously not noise insulated but the people booking here are also more upper scale tourists and quiet. The only sound that woke me up was a rooster in the morning and that means a lot. I can only fully recommend this place.
Review 41:Air conditioning did big work. Dissappointing considering we paid extra for a better room. We could hear neighbour snoring. Struggled to sleep
Review 42:Location and sea view is superb. If you want location and don't card about service and quality then it's a good deal
Review 43:No TV, no Air Con, very dark rooms, not good value for money. I have stayed in much better hotels for the same price.
Review 44:Good views and there are some nice places to eat around there. Perfect for people looking for relaxation.
Review 45:No outside dining facility.
Review 46:clean, friendly staff, lovely swimming pool, great sea views, the total opposite of 'corporate style' hotels. Amazing terrace, with sea views. very good value. 60's style dining room and lounge area - classic.
Review 47:The view, village and pool were wonderful. We opted for the dinner and breakfast - both were of good value. Dinner was three courses for 10 euro/person. Breakfast was bread, cheese, meat, boiled eggs and fruit that looked like it was from the local trees. The room with the terrace was worth it.
Review 48:nothing
Review 49:The Hotel Staff were excellent, friendly and very helpful. The Hotel was very clean and our room was spotless sheets changed every day and towels. The food was excellent and the surrounding area was beautiful as the balcony overlooked the sea.
Review 50:Ground floor has some noisy streetsounds
Review 51:Super frienly staff, no problem to stay a little longer!
Review 52:Emplacement génial
Review 53:Felt shower was too small
Review 54:Loved view and the terrace, room was good and balcony was great
Review 55:No wifi
Review 56:The location was amazing, very quiet place. The terrace was a nicr place to drink a beee
Review 57:The rooms are very noisy. The staf is not very friendly and not flexible. It was forbidden to eat on the terass.
Review 58:The view.
Review 59:Dinner basic with just 2 choices but for that price .....
Review 60:Outrageously good value. Terrace bar. Beautiful view.
Review 61:Great location and very friendly staff. Wonderful view to the see and very delicious foods. It is really worth to try.
Review 62:everything is good!
Review 63:very good meals, friendly, familiars, best view from terrace
Review 64:see above Old fashioned but in the best possible way
Review 65:The "salon" is an odd room, straight from the 1950's. Never saw anyone in there, but don't be surprised if you meet Miss Marple knitting in the corner! This isn't a fault, just part of it's charm.
Review 66:Old fashioned Mallorquin family-run, caring hotel Really put themselves out for their guests. Sensational setting and views, in an outstandingly beautiful village, fantastic pool, and roof terrace. Food very good value for price, home cooking, but don't expect gourmet menu. Try the wonderful almond tart from the bar! We were travelling by bus and the bus stop was outside the hotel. We will definitely be back!
Review 67:no 'seconds' of coffee at breakfast not a lot of fruit choice and no yogurt
Review 68:The setting was lovely the staff were friendly and helpful It was old fashioned in a positive way
Review 69:Some meals were too basic lots of cutting corners seemed to be trying to cut their costs eg deserts apple orange or a banana and breakfast really basic.
Review 70:Loved the character and decor and the beautiful plants and view and the hotel was really clean. The staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 71:Not much not to like for the price.
Review 72:Spectacular location stunning views of sea and mountains. Quiet and very relaxing, simple local cuisine. Good value. Charming staff and owner. An amazing terrace to sit on and have a drink and admire the views perched high above the sea.
Review 73:Breakfast - 8 euros was steep for what was on offer. A kettle in the room would have been a bonus.
Review 74:Authentic and peaceful. Beautifully presented. Really clean. Very comfortable beds and bedding. Lovely views. Good location. A very gorgeous hotel that we would definitely recommend and revisit ourselves.
Review 75:It's like a time warp to the Sixties - and the receptionist is asfriendly as the major in Full Metal Jacket. Parking is half a mile away(and then no space available). Really an interesting experience this no-service-at-all-hotel! Never again!
Review 76:Only the view and the location is okay ...
Review 77:Some items were missing (hair dryer, soap for the bathroom sink, TV, air conditioning) but maybe they aren`t requirements for a 2-star hotel. It would have been nice to have a small refrigerator in the room and especially a fan to keep the heat down and the mosquitos away. Mosquitos were a minor, not a major, problem.
Review 78:The best thing was the food, the delicious dinners, homemade with homegrown products, and also a varied breakfast. The views of the sea were also lovely and being in a small traditional village was a special experience, far from the touristy areas. The staff were friendly and helpful. Be sure to book a room with a balcony - it makes all the difference.
Review 79:unfortunate incident with broken glass in bathroom but soon corrected by helpful staff
Review 80:peaceful with beautiful views and evening meal was very good value
Review 81:The staff wasn't very friendly when we arrived, first refused to speak English, then suddenly she spook English. The room was very small with no air conditioning. Breakfast was very poor (pre packed croissants, etc.).
Review 82:The view, the swimming pool and the location
Review 83:Bolster style pillows need updating
Review 84:Loved the situation, fabulous seaviews from terrace & room balconies, excellent good value home cooking for dinner, rooms very clean enough sun loungers & wonderful pool.
Review 85:Nothing
Review 86:Amazing value, clean and friendly. One of the best locations on the island. We're been visiting for 30 yrs
Review 87:Outdoor swimming pool with a great view. Good location and nice, old building.
Review 88:Everything! Friendly staff, clean rooms, incredible beautiful place
Review 89:romantic atmosphere and antiquity.Mountains and nature.
Review 90:Everything
Review 91:We loved the place!!! I don't know who gave the hotel 2 stars, I think they deserve more.
Review 92:Owners are old and not flexible, had a pool but did not let us in
Review 93:The seaview
