Reviews for La Casona de Pío

Review 1:Nothing really. In summer it might be a hassle parking a car but we were fine. And be air is quiet now, it would have been good to know restaurant not open

Review 2:The position, the staff. Free wifi that worked. Beautiful brekky for reasonable price (7 euro).

Review 3:Such a friendly welcome on arrival. Room was spacious, typically Spanish with a small balcony. It was behind the Main Street so very quiet. Restaurant suggested was very good. Lovely small town with great walks and scenery. You will not have a better breakfast - it was amazing. Parking was a walk from hotel but we knew and it was free.

Review 4:A unique old building — a restored fish salting factory — in an absolutely perfect location. Outstanding porch with a relaxing atmosphere. The staff was endlessly helpful and accommodating. Right across the street from the town's only maker of traditional black ceramics.

Review 5:The staff were friendly and helpful - very good nights sleep with a fantastic breakfast in the morning - would have happily stayed longer - good value

Review 6:lovely staff, very helpful anything you want to know they will help you with. also they will give you a map of the local area with suggestions of where to visit. comfortable cozy room, fantastic breakfast. only 2 star but far more comfortable than most 4 stars we have stayed in. the building has lots of character, will definatley return to this hotel.

Review 7:Stairs, no parking and street noise which carried up to our room all night long. When people stopped, the seagulls began.

Review 8:Staff made great efforts to make us comfortable. Breakfast was more than plentiful, eggs cooked to order, lovely dining room.

Review 9:A very enjoyable overnight stay. The staff were very helpful and welcoming; the location was central but quiet; clean and comfortable facilities and breakfast was a generous portion of old fashioned home cooking.

Review 10:Parking is a distant away, but you can park near to drop luggage. Quite steep stairs into property for anyone with mobility problems.

Review 11:The location and excellent breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Spotlessly clean.

Review 12:If one had to find any criticism the plumbing is a bit noisy but splitting hairs!

Review 13:The staff were delightful and couldn't do enough. Hotel was full of character, very comfortable and excellently located in the village centre.

Review 14:The room was dark and too small for 2 suitcases.

Review 15:We were warmly welcomed to the La Cosona de Pio after a little difficulty locating it in the narrow streets of Cudillero. The hotel is somewhat dark and our room (201) had a distinctive smell of disinfectant. We decided, therefore, to spend our single night in Cudillero’s Square and climbing the Mirador (the stairway to the lighthouse had collapsed). The narrow streets and houses are a must especially those with dried fish hanging at their front door. We chose to eat at Julio’s, a locals’ favourite where we were looked after and enjoyed the ‘Bon homie’ of the bar. Returning to our room, dark and looking-on to next door’s wall, we retreated to bed. First down to a plentiful, well-presented breakfast, the nextmorning, which we enjoyed enormously, we then packed and left for Bares. In sum, not our first choice again (neither would Cudillero be) but thank you to the staff/owners for making us feel welcome.

Review 16:Well, I don't think I would come again to Cudillero to stay, quite frankly. You are very much in a hole down here by the sea, and there is very little to do. You can do no walks from here, for example. Going out to the nearest Cape is pleasant, as something to do by car. Beyond that. . .? This is like a charming Cornish fishing village, only rather less charming. Back from the touristic parts as you approach the water, the buildings are not very nice, and many of them are unoccupied. There is a certain funk of decline about the place.

Review 17:The staff could not have been nicer; and though you cannot park near the place and have to carry your bags up a steep flight of stairs, nowhere in Cudillero would be nicer to stay, surely. We had a balcony; the area is reasonably quiet--or was for us, in April; the building has much character; the breakfasts are excellent; and the beds are very comfortable.

Review 18:Nothing negative at all to say. Also parking wasn't the huge distance away that previous reviews had led me to believe.

Review 19:Beautiful building, tastefully decorated. Big room with decent shower and bathroom. Fantastic breakfast, well worth having. Also very helpful and friendly staff who were always happy to help or have a chat.

Review 20:Somehow expected a view of harbor - Reality = the back of another building. Wifi throughout? Reality = intermittent and extremely slow WHEN it worked. Bed headboard - Reality = banged the wall every time the bed shifted, and it shifted with every normal movement. Not good in the middle of the night. Mattress = padded rocks and boulders. Drip-drip-drip of bathtub faucet with no way to stop. Yes, loud enough to be a bother. Does not deserve a rating above a 6-ish.

Review 21:Hotel decor

Review 22:The rooms were beautiful, clean, and very well kept. We only stayed one night and I wish we could have stayed longer. The breakfast was also wonderful!

Review 23:They had an air freshner in the room to make it smell nice but it was overpowering. Also the room was lovely but dark, when we left I felt like our things were damp. But these are little things. I loved the place, the decor was beautiful and it was so cheap.

Review 24:It is a very small village and the hotel is right in the centre and easy to find. The rooms have stone walls and wooden shutters, it's cute. Breakfast was amazing. Lots of it and excellent value for money.

Review 25:They could install plugs near the bed for phone and tablet recharging

Review 26:Beautiful little hotel Right off the main street and near the restaurants Warm, welcoming staff

Review 27:Nothing everything was excellent.

Review 28:The staff is very friendly. Our room was wonderful, very clean and the stone walls were beautiful. The breakfast was beyond delicious. We couldn't believe what a hidden gem this was for just picking a nights stay while driving to Lisbon.

Review 29:Nothing of any consequence

Review 30:The hotel is right in the heart of Cudillero. It has much character. Our bedroom was very comfortable and we were not bothered by noise. We asked for an early breakfast which was ready for us when requested.

Review 31:Parking approx 1 km away, difficult for bag drop off. This was known beforehand. Suggest only overnight bag.

Review 32:Friendly helpful staff, good breakfast, proximity in village

Review 33:Nothing! Probably not great if you have restricted mobility as reception itself is up steepish steps, although they may have a different entrance that we did not see.

Review 34:Located in the centre of a quirky fishing village. Has no parking due to village layout but you can drop off luggage fairly nearby and then park at the port. We just packed a bag for the days we were there and just walked along the sea front. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is amazing- you will not need to eat for the rest of the day! WiFi only worked in bathroom in our room but enough for what we wanted (probably as we were on second floor). Fine in communal areas. Room was spacious, bed very comfortable, bathroom bijoux but well equipped. Had great fun exploring the village along the tiny paths, even used the station to get to Avilés on the train.

Review 35:The wifi wasn't the best on the second floor but was easily accessible in the main lobby or sitting outside of our hotel room door. Just not inside our room. Also, the walls were a bit thin and it was loud while the ladies cleaned and the outside world set up for the day but we did have a sound machine for our baby so it helped drown the noise.

Review 36:We loved our stay at this hotel. Great staff, friendly service, fantastic breakfast, and wonderful breakfast every morning. the staff was very personable and so sweet to us. We were traveling with our 4 month old daughter and they made sure to spoil her with love. Would definitely stay here again. Can't beat the location!

Review 37:Nothing

Review 38:The hotel was in a brilliant position, the room extremely comfortable. The staff were very friendly and made some excellent suggestions about were to go and what to see. They could not have been more helpful. Next time in the area will stay there again.

Review 39:Nothing it's great. Did I mention the homemade jams?!

Review 40:Everything was fantastic. Especially the breakfast and the warm welcome. Very beautiful building in the heart of the town! Great meal in the green Sidreria, turn right when you come out the front.

Review 41:THE best location in Cudillero, right off the main plaza. Quaint bulding with comfortable rooms. Very friendly staff, especially the lady helping us out at breakfast. Delicious breakfast. Definitely coming back!

Review 42:Arrived Sunday lunchtime and town was very crowded so parking was quite a long way away

Review 43:The town is very small but all the cafes are in the square and the village climbs up behind them. the hotel is just off the main square up some stairs but everything was charming. excellent restaurant next door

Review 44:nothing disappointed us

Review 45:Pitoresque boutique hotel

Review 83:Nothing comes to mind.

Review 84:Location excellent, staff exceptionaly helpful, the building is one of the best renovations you will see no expense spared. Breakfast was very good and fresh and quick.

Review 85:No problem for some, but steep stairs up to reception. Just take your time if you have heavy luggage.

Review 86:Great spot in town although parking is down at the port it's no problem. Comfy rooms and the breakfast is completely over the top!

Review 87:Access is with a car is tricky.

Review 88:Fabulous charming fishing village which is a must visit for anyone traveling through Asturias. This is unquestionably the only place to stay in Cudillero.

Review 89:No parking near the hotel, which is not really the hotel's fault, but more a feature of the village... A slightly musty smell in the room. Could also be because of the ocean's immediate vicinity. Breakfast was not that special.

Review 90:The hotel is pretty much in the sweet spot of this small fishing village. Nice wooden balcony over a tiny street and lots of windows in the room (if you don't mind that neighbours' windows are just a few feet away :).

Review 91:60mtr walk from car to hotel and stairs with luggage. very unlucky with wet weather

Review 92:Friendly and attentive service by all staff Good position to enjoy local facilities

Review 93:Very nice little hotel - I think they do themselves an injustice by saying they are two star. Nice clean rooms, prime location in Cudillero and very friendly staff. Breakfast was very good as well.

Review 94:Loved the location and atmosphere, cute village. Staff were very helpfuland made good recommendations on local eateries. Car parking while noton site was close by and easy to access.

Review 95:Only one thing. One corner of the bedroom smelt funny - as in a little bit old urine-like. Strange as it looked super clean and immaculate. Maybe a former smelly guest tainting it?

Review 96:Location. Decór. History. Staff friendliness. The view. The balcony. Atmosphere. Cosiness. Whirlpool bath.

Review 97:Staff is kind and helpful. Don't miss the crêpe at the breakfast.
