Reviews for Hotel Domhof

Review 1:A standard double room was booked but we were given and charged for a superior one. So check the bill carefully, particularly if euros is not your home currency.

Review 2:Central location near the cathedral, historic buildings including it's own brewery with excellent beer,

Review 3:The bathroom was a bit outdated.

Review 4:The location was great; in the middle of the centre and it has it's own "biergarten"! We really liked the restaurant with their typical german schnitzels :) Our room had a beautiful view on the church.

Review 5:We were surprised to be charged 5€ to use the Wifi, which we found excessive and not the norm these days, especially as the fee did not cover more than one item. Everyone uses wifi and I am not sure what the justification for this charge was. It is an unnecessary annoyance.

Review 6:Loved the position, comfort and it was very quiet.

Review 7:The place is very cheesy with kitsch everywhere, but its completely great. Sauna in the apartments' bathrooms and awesome staff! Great great breakfast

Review 8:Although lovely, the hotel had no atmosphere, just B&B and your room. The Domhof pub style neighbouring restaurant was excessively busy and you had to push for a table even though you were a hotel guest. Parking was available but as a lottery!

Review 9:Location in the heart of the town. Room was spacious, quiet and very comfortable. Breakfast was very good indeed.

Review 10:had to pay for wifi. showers in the standard rooms are quite small, my husband in 6'2" and struggled.

Review 11:This was our 2nd stay at Hotel Domhof. Staff are really friendly and helpful and speak good English. We had a standard double room that is very comfortable, with views over the 'romantic' courtyard. Complimentary 'Honey' toiletries. There is also air conditioning in the room. Large TV with a couple of English channels. On our first stay we had a 'comfort' double which is well worth the extra ££. Right in the heart of Speyer only steps away from the centre, where there are plenty of cafe bars, shops and restaurants. A great hotel with private outdoor and garage (paid €7.50 per day) parking. The DomHof restaurant is directly next door and I would recommend that you book a table as it is very popular and busy - they also brew their own beer on-site. All in all a very comfortable and enjoyable stay that I would highly recommend.

Review 12:The downside of being close to the cathedral was the bells went on all night. However the windows were well built and blocked almost all of the sound. Wifi cost 5 euros.

Review 13:The location was great - right next to the Cathedral. It was also an easy walk to the Technik Museum. Breakfast was wonderful with a lot of variety.

Review 14:Charge for WiFi is ridiculous in 2015 and not competitive. Also rate does not include breakfast, very in-German!

Review 15:Air Conditioned rooms are great and recently remodeled.

Review 16:Overnigt staff did not have a very good understanding of english language even though we "managed" it and wifi costs 5 euros per 24 hours

Review 17:Good breakfast, amzing position front of the big Dome and attached to two major typical german restaurants

Review 18:We stopped over on a drive from Zeebrugge to Munich. This hotel was perfect - a lovely quiet place, an old building but modernised well, comfortable rooms (ours were with air-con), lovely central courtyard, great spread for breakfast, English-speaking staff and just next door to a fantastic beergarten for a great evening meal (I only wish I'd brushed up on my German a bit more for that). And the location is brilliant - right next to the cathedral and park, and to a wonderful street full of shops and cafes and restaurants. I'd pre-booked the secure underground parking at the hotel so we were able to park easily.

Review 19:Nobody spoke english or french when we arrived which made things a bit difficult.

Review 20:Very pretty hotel right in the centre of this lovely town. Spacious room and delicious breakfast.

Review 21:Greeted by a rather surly manager (?) who was quite off-hand. A much nicer person present when checking out however.

Review 22:Great location, lovely hotel. Wonderful breakfast. The beer garden next door does very, very good food.

Review 23:Front staff not very friendly. For wifi access, needed to visit the front desk every day and pay 5 euro for another code which lasts exactly 24 hours for one device. At checkout, the room billing was unclear and didn't match what I had negotiated at booking.com.

Review 24:Beautiful hotel and convenient locations. And the breakfasts were outstanding.

Review 25:We selected this hotel because it was the only Booking.com offering in Speyer with a/c. When we got to our room, we found a note informing us (in German only) that the a/c wasn't fully installed in that wing, as yet. The receptionist tried to claim that a small table fan would suffice. We were changed to a room where the a/c was install and worked - sort of! Every 10 minutes or so it went into loud buzzing mode. No bar?

Review 26:The location is very good for sightseeing in Speyer city.

Review 27:Cold, functional attitude of staff. A place with no heart. No communal area to sit. Not welcoming.

Review 28:Location. (However, you have to believe your sat nav that it is okay to drive across the seemingly pedestrianised zone to access the hotel!) Don't miss going to the Technic Museum from here.

Review 29:Curtains and night light but this is never perfect except in 5 and 6 star hotels. Noise ventilator in the bathroom which shuts off after 5 minutes

Review 30:Location and old building; wooden floors; space.

Review 31:I liked it all ; its nice to stay at a place were you feel at home and relaxed and a very big change from the standard business hotels I normally stay

Review 32:Internet, normal is 5euro for all day but not was good one tow hours good and after ... The room normal on booking.com was 50euro but i pay 70euro ...

Review 33:Enorm klokgelui om 07.15 uur. Last van biergarten tot 24.00 uur.

Review 34:V anuit het hotel de stad bekijken oa de Dom. Goed winkelcentrum, mooie terrassen en goed aanbod van restaurants.

Review 35:Quiet Cul de Sac but close to the town center, the Kaiser Dom and other points of interest. The adjacent bier garden and restaurant were also delightful.

Review 36:staff a bit "german" in character, while quite disorganised at breakfast. no free wifi

Review 37:location in the middle of the city right at the dome. nicely decorated room and good breakfast.

Review 38:Hotel and restaurant are one and suddenly they are not? verry unplessant surprice when hotel bill was suddenly higher because of bill made up in the restaurant. Whe had a small dessert taken to our room and the next day we realised we had to pay also for a lot of drinks we never had. Hotel reception told us it was not there problem. whe had to look ourselfs for restaurant staff!!! bad service! restaurant management told us that is was depending if the staff of the night before rememberd the situation. In the end it was never solved. A pure ripp off.

Review 39:nice location, great breakfast.

Review 40:Dinner in the (separate) brewery restaurant was spoilt by very slow service. 50 minute wait from order to arrival of main course and then an "absence" of waiters when trying to order desert, eventually giving up.

Review 41:The location was excellent, the room was comfortable & quiet and the staff very pleasant. Also good value for money.

Review 42:One room was located close to the elevator, but the other could only be reached by staircase. Not suitable for older people.

Review 43:Location is wonderful. Breakfast buffet is excellent, and the restaurant next to it is fantastic.

Review 44:The quality of the bed was a bit doubtfull as it was clearly over it's best period.

Review 45:Nice hotel also with the restaurant and bier garten. Location was good, but the nicest was the admosphere also of the room for the breakfast. The bed was a negative point.

Review 46:I found the bed slightly uncomfy - very likely because I am not used to the very shallow pillows!!

Review 47:The courtesy of the staff, the food and the ambience are great. One feels relaxed although on business. The right formula.

Review 48:The dinner I had at the adjoining Domhof Restaurant was average.

Review 49:Very friendly service. Beautifully situated and excellent breakfast. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Review 50:Nothing

Review 51:This historic building, updated with all the modern conveniences, really set the mood for a visit to the city of Speyer. Although in the center of the city, it was a quiet oasis from a city-wide festival going on just outside the door. Our room was comfortably large, and the bathroom was more than adequate.

Review 52:nothing really that is not to like

Review 53:we come here for quite some time and we always stay at this hotel. We like everything, from the location, the food...!

Review 54:Considering we were in a bind to find a hotel near our destination in Germany, we booked this hotel the night before we were to stay there. We were given Room 29, which was clean, a bit sparse, but in a building across from the main hotel with no elevator. We had someone help us with our luggage up the stairs, but we took our luggage down the stairs ourselves. We would suggest booking a room in the main part of the hotel.

Review 55:The location in Speyer was excellent! A very short walk to the Dom and the old part of town. We ate in their beer garden the first night and were very pleased with our meal and the fun ambiance. Breakfast was also great with several choices. Parking was available on site for 5 Euros per night.

Review 56:Nothing- everything was good

Review 57:Right in centre of Speyer- convenient for shops, bars and restauants. It was a lovely setting- in a quiet courtyard. The room was pleasant and the breakfast was super.

Review 58:Extra charge for internet when it was stated included but apparantly "not free". Hmmm.

Review 59:Location Included parking Adjacent brewery pub with wonderful beer garden owned by hotel

Review 60:The receptionist tried to charge me for breakfast but was fine ti adjust the bill once I explained I din't have it.

Review 61:building very beautiful, situated right next to the cathedral. Everything was very nice and clean.

Review 62:If you're a light sleeper be aware that the cathedral bells chime every quarter hour and the hours are counted twice on two different bells. This means sleeping with the window closed. No mirror in the bedroom (very odd).

Review 63:What's not to like about a place that doesn't just have its own adjacent Biergarten/Restaurant but its own brewery! Good-sized room furnished in the old-fashioned German style. Excellent breakfast (when we checked out we found that it was included in the room price but they refunded the breakfasts we didn't take). Free parking available above ground. Location couldn't be more central.

Review 64:Excellent location, with an extra large room and a great beer garden next door. I like that this hotel had a computer in the lobby as many of the hotels have done away with them. I ended up having to do unexpected business and this was a lifesaver. Great staff.

Review 65:There was no hotel bar facility. One has to walk 50 yards to the hotel's brewery beer garden for drinks and bring them to the hotel courtyard if you do not want the hustle and bustle of the beer garden.

Review 66:Very comfortable room with air conditioning, modern facilities, and ideally placed to walk into both new and old town areas

Review 67:The air-con unit wasn't working, but a fan was substituted, which kept it acceptable.

Review 68:Location and ambiance. The hotel is quiet (other than the bells) and the breakfast is quality and varied.

Review 69:none

Review 70:location, food, parking

Review 71:The staff was somewhat cold, and one was unfriendly. But then again it's Germany.

Review 72:Location, location, location.

Review 73:desk man was not always pleasant

Review 74:room

Review 75:Sehr stilvoll. optimale Lage

Review 76:It's a charming hotel in the heart of the city. The room I got was big with old style furniture. The bed was really confortable.

Review 77:We booked a comfort room but got a standard room.

Review 78:Excellent breakfast, beautiful location.

Review 79:No free wifi - very strange

Review 80:Good location for exploring Speyer.

Review 81:Beautiful hotel and a great location.Staff were excellent and breakfast was lovely

Review 82:nothing, except the extremely economic layout of the sanitary facility of my room

Review 83:locatio, very friendly and helpful staff, historic building

Review 84:Difficulty of secure forward reservation.

Review 85:Location and overall ambiance of the Domoff complex.

Review 86:Please include WiFi in the overall bill

Review 87:Central location great beer garden this is an ideal stop over if your travelling further afield

Review 88:There is only weak reception for mobile phones and hotel is selling WLAN to compensate this.

Review 89:Price of secure parking when reservation cannot be made.

Review 90:Location, garden, beer garden and brewery.

Review 91:The ''Biergarten" was very well and cozy.

Review 92:wifi for 5 euro is outdated

Review 93:location, breakfast

Review 94:Biergarten attached to hotel

Review 95:nothing!

Review 96:Everything..... clean comfortable and excellent staff. safe parking

Review 97:No AC - despite Hotel advertising as available

Review 98:Location

Review 99:Excellent central location

Review 100:60 second walk to Speyer Cathedral. Biergarten downstairs. Great buildings.

Review 101:late check in

Review 102:Rooms in main building much bigger than on otherside of courtyard.

Review 103:Restaurant next door serves reasonably priced food.

Review 104:Room was gorgeous!!!

Review 105:They kept cleaning the rooms before 8am

Review 106:The location is excellent and it is quiet at night

Review 107:very hot room, if you open the window you hear the churchbells ringing

Review 108:Fine restaurant with good own beer

Review 109:The closeness of being right down in the center of town.

Review 110:easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping.

Review 111:no free wifi, not good in this century

Review 112:location, historic town

Review 113:Central position vulnerable to disturbance by noisy neighbours.

Review 114:Very comfortable and good position. Good breakfasts.

Review 115:nothing

Review 116:every thing

Review 117:No soap in the bathrooms

Review 118:Lovely gardens and Baroque building

Review 119:The room was a decent size but pretty tired and the bathroom (just a shower) was tiny. There was a very thick layer of dust on the cord for the hairdrier, which was pretty offputting. No aircon, only a fan, which wasn´t great given it was over 30 degrees when we visited. We were told the breakfast was included only to be told (after we´d had it) that it wasn´t. The breakfast was good but the room was quite sombre, needs a facelift. Didn´t think it was great value for the price.

Review 120:Location is great, though Speyer is small so nowhere is far from the centre. The outside patio area is pleasant.

Review 121:Prussian man in morning needed to learn The German warmth I knowAverage standard food in restaraunts Variety of beers low as all samein beer garden

Review 122:Environment when I found it Liked bells in church tolling hour twiceProximity of beer garden Park for walking Proximity to major roadsExcellent staff in beer gardenBreakfast good Decor Speed of check in check out when Prussian warmed

Review 123:Excellent location very close to the cathedral. Big, comfortable, room tastefully decorated. Good buffet breakfast. Friendly staff. Relatively inexpensive for a three-star hotel.

Review 124:Cleaning lady was persistently knocking at the door at 9am on a Sunday morning

Review 125:Walking distance to all attractions in Speyer. Nice old building. Great biergarten is just in front of the hotel. Very good breakfast.

Review 126:Slow Wifi connection (always a problem hotels when you have to work with remote desktop) Paying €5,- per connexion as well

Review 127:Breakfast Parking next to the hotel

Review 128:I checked on a day when the tmeperature was vey hot. The room was quite hot and the night was very uncomfortable indeed - very little sleep. The available small fan was ineffective and noisy.

Review 129:This is not my first (and last) visit. The ambience and surrounding are very relaxing indeed.

Review 130:Poor Wifi and locality to the Dom means you should expect to hear the Clock Chime all night.

Review 131:Lovely Large and well equipped room, excellent location and good architecture
