Reviews for Hotel Alte Canzley

Review 1:Not a criticism of the hotel but many of the sights in the town are being renovated and access is restricted.

Review 2:Although it is in the middle of a town it was easy to find and the staff directed us to the private car park. The staff were very pleasant and the food was good.

Review 3:Slight language challenges (German / English), but the staff was pleasant.

Review 4:Location and nice size room with a good view of the church.

Review 5:Large room in perfect location.

Review 6:Location staff facilities

Review 7:The hotel is right across from the Castle church which is fully scaffold until 2017. Could not see the church at all.

Review 8:Excellent location! Right downtown, close to everything. The room was very large and accommodated 3 friends very easily. Nice large bathroom with shower and bathtub. Breakfast was a typical European breakfast. They have a gated parking area available to guests.

Review 9:From the moment we arrived and were shown to our apartment - William Shakespeare - we were delighted with everything - the size of the room/apartment ... we also had a kitchen, so we were able to make tea ... the comfort of the beds, the decor, the armchairs, and wonderfully - the view of the Schloss Church just across the road. What more could we want? Did I mention the superb menu for Valentine's Day which we enjoyed. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially in view of our almost non-existent knowledge of the German language. We would love to stay there again and would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to friends and family.

Review 10:Very good location, next to the Castle Church where Luther made his name. The hotel has a 500-600 year history and you most probably will share a room with a famous person of the past

Review 11:The hotel lacked charm like much of what used to be East Germany. The staff were much less friendly than what we experienced on the rest of our travels. (To be fair one staff member was pleasant, the others very cold) I am glad we stopped here to experience the town and the old communist mentality but have no desire to go back.

Review 12:The rooms were quite large and the location is right across the street from the Castle Church and at the edge of a nice old town center.

Review 13:Nothing to not like when everything is perfect!

Review 14:You can't find a more convenient place to stay in Wittenberg. The view of the castle door with Martin Luther's 95 theses was mesmerizing. We looked out our window as often as possible - more than at any hotel I have ever stayed at! We want to be here in 2017 for the 500th anniversary.

Review 15:Curtains do not shut the daylight out, so one wakes up early!

Review 16:Restaurant fantastic. Ecologic and very tasty, good choise and good ecolocic wines. Located perfectly in city center. Own parking. Staff very friendly. It was my second stay and will definitively come back here when I am in the region.

Review 17:From the moment we drove up and enjoyed the free parking available at the hotel, the experience for my friend and I was fantastic. I highly recommend this hotel in Lutherstadt-Wittenberg because of it's outstanding location, spacious and comfortable rooms and delicious food.

Review 18:If you come to Wittenberg, where Luther started the Protestant Reformation, this is where you want to stay! Our room was directly across the street from the 95 Thesis doors on the Castle Church! The hotel is an easy walk to the other historic sites, including the Reformation Museum in the Luther house. The hotel is in an ancient historic building, but is modernized and comfortable inside. Rooms have names of historic persons, like the Peter the Great room. The hotel information tells about the history of the building. This smoke-free hotel is a great place for anyone with allergies to stay. Our room was spacious, with a sitting area, and would accommodate wheelchairs, if needed. The staff was great, the food in the restaurant and the breakfast buffet was fine.

Review 19:Only one of the hotel staff spoke English. Then again, neither of us speak any German.

Review 20:Very nicely appointed and spacious room. Very clean hotel. Wonderful location right across from the Castle Church.

Review 21:Noisy street location, 1 staff member in particular was not helpful

Review 22:Huge rooms, nice breakfast, majority of staff were very helpful and professional

Review 23:Nothing.

Review 24:Great location, huge room, comfortable beds, quiet room , good breakfast.

Review 25:EXCELLENT Location. Friendly, helpful staff. Quiet location. Free parking.

Review 26:Location ,rooms ,food and friendly helpful staff.

Review 27:The location is great. Most of the rooms look down onto the Castle Church where Martin Luther hung his 95 Theses.

Review 28:Great location, huge room, great value
