Reviews for Hoteltraube Rüdesheim

Review 1:On arrival, the hotel reception desk staff was very rude when we asked for directions to the hotel car park which we have already reserved. Also, and maybe because the hotel seemed pretty full, we were placed in an annexe building with two very uncomfortable single beds pushed up against the walls and separated by a fixed bedside table and positioned under a sloping ceiling meaning we had to be so careful to avoid smashing our heads against the ceiling.

Review 2:The breakfast was excellent

Review 3:Cold air - When the door opens in the main entrance and you're seated in the bar, a lot of cold air comes in the winter in as patrons enter. Perhaps hanging a draft curtain would help this. ONLY THING I DIDN'T LIKE!

Review 4:The location is perfect for the Christmas market and the Drosselgasse which is a lane right around the corner full of tempting places to eat and drink and the center of town. The rooms are very quiet (3rd floor/ middle of building) which surprised me with a train passing right out front fairly often. The breakfast was very good and replenished quickly. Outdoor parking a block away was so easy too.

Review 5:Once we found the hotel and learned where to park our car, everything was wonderful. It is not on our gps but the first hotel you come to from the north. We enjoyed watching Rhine traffic at breakfast.

Review 6:The staff very friendly and helpful. The room has a small view of the Rhine even though we did not pay for an expensive room. It was very easy to find.

Review 7:Please be aware, there are 2 buildings (hotels?) managed by the same front-office desk: we booked at Hoteltraube but we were given initially rooms in the hotel next door (Carahotel). The rooms were no more than basic 2 star rooms. When we noticed that a panel is full of keys (meaning available rooms at that very moment) we confronted the front-desk officer and we were finally moved to the main building. We were however given 2 rooms that were also basic (albeit better than the former) and clearly un-renovated in a long time. Overall, I would not rate this hotel 4 stars: it has mixed rooms, 2 up to 3 stars in quality. The breakfast is fair. We were told there's no parking place available for us but clearly we've seen places available in the parking behind the hotel. For this price we will look into other hotels next time.

Review 8:good location, close to the well-known Drosselgasse

Review 9:Its a combination of several old hotels, very old hotels in varying conditions. Some of the rooms have good views, others are awful. In 1965 both hotels were probably lovely and modern but a major renovations is required. Its also confusing how they are set up, the name Bookings used was the Hotel Rudersheim but its actually the Hotel Tauras and Carlton. Signage is poor and parking was incredibly difficult to squeeze into.

Review 10:The location and suite were both very nice. The morning breakfast was also good and the pool was a pleasant surprise.

Review 11:The parking garage is difficult to access ( Citroen DS5 had 1" clearance!) when we got in there were no spaces. Public car park is close and inexpensive but I do refer to use hotel parking.

Review 12:Excellent position in the old town and facing the river. Quiet room, despite the nearness of many restaurants and live music. Very comfortable.

Review 13:No swimming pool or sauna although advertised. Staff mediocre and the hotel was only half full. Wouldn't like to see them perform when it's full!

Review 14:Great location. Small but comfy rooms. Good breakfast.

Review 15:No air conditioning and no fans available for use in the room. Room was extremely warm and having window fully open didn't help. Parking very confusing. Despite having booked it ahead, was told that it was full but then was offered a space in the underground car park. Worth checking what exactly you are booking before you arrive. Underground car park was fine but incredibly narrow entrance - we only just managed not to scrape the sides of our medium sized estate car. I wouldn't say that this is a 4* hotel. It was perfectly fine for us but didn't compare with other 4* hotels we stayed in during our trip.

Review 16:Great location near to the Drosselgasse Very good buffet breakfast

Review 17:Lack of onsite food, except for breakfast. Mind you I was on crutches at the time and it would have been far more convenient.Ideally located

Review 18:Location beside the Rhine and near railway station. Also convenient to restaurants and bars.

Review 19:Nice little place just around the corner from Drosselgasse, so you have lots to see. Great breakfast with a view of the Rhein and Bingen right across the river. Big parking lot just around the corner. (Not something you get in a lot of places in Germany.)

Review 20:One evening out of three the Irish pub next door was rather noisy but not for too long. The noise from Drosselgasse did not reach our hotel, although it started from just around the corner - easy to start looking for places to eat. The swimming pool was not open during our stay, but at least we were informed of this a few days in advance. The hotel had no air-conditioning, but we had a fan and surprisingly, the room was not too hot although the temperature during the day was around 33 C!

Review 21:The young man at the reception desk was extremely helpful and always cheerful. Our room had a balcony and we had a view to the Rhine. The location was excellent and the garage was handy (our rental car was small). Breakfast was excellent.

Review 22:Checked in 3 hrs later than requested and the room was not cleaned yet. They offered a drink and that was nice. We seen the messy room and requested another, but they wanted to keep us there because of full booking. We got what we wanted with a bit of haggling. First breakfast day, they ran out of bacon quick and I inquired, but I made sure I got it on day 2. They had a water problem on day 2 and we luckily got a shower in for our ride home, but we had to run brown/rusty water awhile before using. Elevator would sometimes not line up with the floor and you would trip. It was very hot this weekend and nobody from the staff would open windows and shades as and when needed to keep it a bit cooler. A reduction could have been made for at least free parking or free dog stay for the trouble. Windows only open 1 way and to be sure that you are secure, you must close the windows completely (there is a fire escape that other rooms use and can look in your window??) and it was very hot this weekend.

Review 23:Location only

Review 24:Definitely not 4 star, we were quite shocked when we arrived. Carpet needs replacing. The worst old box TV, should have been thrown out 20 years ago. Staff at reception need to attend a customer service course

Review 25:Location was great & breakfast was fantastic especially the view

Review 26:Our room was very, very noisy and I'm not picky. Rail repairs and jake brakes all thru the night. The first clerk we met was not the friendliest.

Review 27:I liked the location and the breakfast. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and the bathroom facilities were updated.

Review 28:Nice and quiet hotel right at the edge of town. Our room had an overview of the cable cars and vineyards. Easy walk to all resturants, attractions, shopping. Typical european breakfast offered, a great start to our day. Note to anyone making a parking reservation. If you drive a mid-size or larger American size vehicle it won't fit in their under ground parking garage. It is a very tight sqweeze.

Review 29:1. Too loud because of railway in front of Hotel. 2. Swimming pool and Sauna under repair 3. No Wifi in room. 4. Birds poo in front of window - room 303

Review 30:The staff was polite !

Review 31:We understand that no hotel in Germany has A/C so the windows are left open and the insects come in. The cleaning staff seemed to do little to discourage this.

Review 32:Great location on the Rhine river.

Review 33:Room and furnishings were pretty dated. The bathroom was updated though. Room was a bit small, even by European standards.

Review 34:Breakfast was fantastic. Staff was great. They let us check in early. Location was very close to the train station and drosselgasse.

Review 35:Had too complained about tiny room before being moved but could have been better. No aircon or fans in temperatures of 38c

Review 36:Good breakfast selection and friendly staff but very noisy due to close proximity of railway and road

Review 37:No air conditioning, which made the room extremely hot. If you opened the windows, the room was located just next to the busy street (with for instance a noisy bar). The hotel actually constitutes two hotels next to each other and we got the one not pictured in the booking (which I found a little bit strange).

Review 38:Swimming pool was closed. Breakfast... was until 10 a.m but they didn´t have much left at 9!! There was no aircondition in the room and we had to keep all the windows open because there was outside +35. Terrible noise from the railway and the bed was absolutely terrible and made noise too.

Review 39:The accommodation is rather old and it has not been renovated for a long time.

Review 40:We had lovely view over the Rhine and toward Bingen. Also the beds were very good. Spacious room.

Review 41:We had a shocking experience at this Hotel! The rooms that we got, did not look at all like the pictures on the Booking.com!The TV was something out of the '70's!!It was unbelievable hot,no aircon, no fans nothing. When I complained they were not helpful at all!!This hotel is located right next to the railway lines!!!!!!!!!!!!Nowhere was this mentioned!!!!!The indoor swimming pool was not avialible for use the whole 4 days we were there!!!!Wil not recommend this hotel!!!!!!!!!!

Review 42:I selected this hotel as it had an indoor pool. I was disappointed to find on arrival no water in the pool. We were not notified prior to our visit or when we checked in.

Review 43:Free WiFi. Room was clean. Convenient location. Breakfast was good.

Review 44:The reception staff was so very unfriendly and did not make us feel welcome at all. I handed in some shorts and a shirt and they charged me tripple for it because they said they had to wash it 3 times. They said the pool did not work but other German people did use it! They said we did not pay and git rude! They forced my husband to pay again and put the transaction through 3 times. The black hair girl at reception is rude. Will never ever go back

Review 45:Nothing

Review 46:The hotel has an elevator, but we still had to take stairs to arrive to our room, very uncomfortable with a pram. Apart form that the place was OK until we found Cockroach on the stairs outside our room.

Review 47:Breakfast was nice. Location is perfect, very central and near a parking lot (unfortunately to be paid in advance).

Review 48:No room clean as stayed 2 nights in suite. They didn't fill fridge after one night. Took parking fee as we hadn't car even 7€ per night.

Review 49:Location

Review 50:- Climate in the room can only be controlled by opening and closing windows. - During night, quit some noise of the heavy transport trains (railroad just opposite the hotel). - Wifi limited to 2 items per room, with coding system. Reception not good in all rooms.

Review 51:- Very nice location in downtown Ruedesheim, just around the famous Drosselgasse. - Good value for money. - Parking on private ground (small fee). - Nice well kept indoor swimming pool and sauna - 30-45 min drive to Wiesbaden and Frankfurt.

Review 52:The double room was small, with much more furniture than really could fit. There was a desk placed towards the foot end of the bed, wich felt really weird. And the the tiny 14 inch "fat-screen" ancient televisions, is something we have not seen in many years, and definetly not what you'd expect in a 4 star hotel. The shampoo in the bath room was empty upon check in, and even though we asked the reception to have it replaced, this never happened. So, all in all we were slightly dissapointed, even though we paid a very reasonable rate, compared to many other hotels in Rüdesheim.

Review 53:The hotel is ok, but nothing special. Location is very good along the beach promenade, and there is a small pool, but with no bathrobes in the room, we did not feel like walking there through the hotel in our swimming suits... It does not feel like a 4 star hotel at all, but the price we paid also reflected this. I think that the hotel would do better to market it as a 3 star hotel, in order not to dissappoint customers expectations.

Review 54:Some staff are nice but some are so scary. Also, heater seems to be not working well so the room was quiet cold during the night.

Review 55:It's easy to walk to cable car. It's in the middle of KD Rhine boat services and train station. So the location is perfect. Breakfast is so nice! Room is clean enough but not that comfortable.

Review 56:The door cannot be locked fully. After locked using the key, the door can still be opened from outside. The hotel administration need to check on this.

Review 57:The location - very near to the river and the pier, and the train station. Nice view from the hotel breakfast restaurant.

Review 58:I don't think it's 4 star hotel. very much standard 3 star hotel. Single room has small bed and shower booth.

Review 59:Location is good. There is 24 hours opened bar. Price was reasonable.

Review 60:The radiators were making loud noises. When taking a shower, it was very difficult to regulate the temperature (either too warm or too cold). The WiFi did not work well.

Review 61:Friendly staff.

Review 62:Wifi was weak but useable.

Review 63:Friendly, helpful staff, beautiful breakfast room overlooking the river. Excellent breakfast. Easy walk to train, tour boat, and ferry. Staff spoke good English. Older building but well maintained.

Review 64:The beds were very hard. The noise from other patrons coming and going at night and the train was annoying. The buffet breakfast had potential, but we got there an hour and a half before they closed the breakfast and they were out of almost everything & the waiter said they'd bring us coffee, but never got around to it.

Review 65:Great location near the train station, wine museum, and public parking. Loved the indoor pool and the room was cute. Liked having the 24hour bar in the lobby and an elevator was a plus.

Review 66:Wifi didn't work well, but that didn't bother us too much, as we got good reception in the lobby.

Review 67:Loved the location, free wonderful breakfast, bed, staff, cleanliness!

Review 68:The wifi is really weak and the shower head was located really low.

Review 69:The breakfast was abundant and the location is superb (around 100m from the Rudeshiem train station). Though it's near the track, the room was not noisy. Staff are friendly and gave us adequate info abt our travel.

Review 70:Bed and pillows uncomfortable (too soft). Wi-Fi did not work in room; on the 3rd floor. Went to the end of the hallway and got two bars. NOTE: Wifi did work good in the dining area on the 1st floor though. Rooms had some very strange/scary art on the wall; made for an uncomfortable feeling. Ours had to come down. Parking was scarce even on site; unable to use the underground garaged on site; our medium size car would not fit in the parking slots. We were lucky and got an outside parking spot that cost 7.00 euro a night.

Review 71:Breakfast buffet was great. Staff was very nice. Close to the historical portion of the village; any easy five minute wallk. Pool was very good. Would have been nice to have robes furnished as there was no place to change near the pool area.

Review 72:Room is not sound-proofed... Our room was just next to the restaurant, so we heard EVERYTHING during morning set-up, every conversation of everyone heading in for breakfast, and all the coughs, sneezes, and shower water running for our neighbors...

Review 73:Great location, friendly staff, good breakfast, 24-hour bar... :-)

Review 74:Bathroom was extremely dated something out of a 70's sitcom. Brown and just yuk. Couldn't shower properly as it was that tiny! If you're tall, big or have long hair to wash you're in trouble. Breakfast was poor, staff eating while we were no milk no nothing really and we weren't late! Felt like we were imposing. Noise is a BIG problem, 3am and my bf had to go down to reception to get them to turn their music down! Lasted an hour then we were awake again! Not impressed.

Review 75:Ideal location and had a view of the Rhine.

Review 76:Cranky and somewhat grasping front desk....arrive at two thirty, tough, wait till three. Parking fee for bikes in completely unsecured garage.

Review 77:Great breakfast

Review 78:We stayed at the hotel for one night, on our way through Germany. Rudesheim is a lovely idilyc small town, the hotel is located next to the Rhine. We had a room overlooking the river (and the train tracks, with trains passing a couple time per hour). The staff was kind and welcoming, the pool was warm and in order, the breakfast was excellent. Highly recommended.

Review 79:There was a lift but our room required us to go down half a level then back up half a floor, not a show stopper but with heavy bags it made arriving and leaving slightly less than it could have been

Review 80:All we were looking for was somewhere to sleep between a train trip and a Rhine cruise now we wished we had stayed a full day. The town itself is on the Rhine edge and has frequent trains passing through but is very pleasant, The hotel is water front (road and rail tracks to cross) the breakfast served was the best we had in two months in Europe. The wine list was excellent, they don't do evening meals but have a bar, there are plenty of good eateries close by.

Review 81:Nothing much, the railway is quite close, but it did not trouble me.

Review 82:The hotel is very close and convenient for all the tourist facilities around Rudesheim. My room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast varied and plentiful,to eat out the famous Drosselgasse is very close.

Review 83:Across the road from a very busy rail at night, so couldn't sleep with the windows open.

Review 84:Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 85:WiFi signal was very unstable at times. Even though it is advertised as having free WiFi internet that is true just for one device per room per 24h. For the price they are charging unlimited WiFi should have been provided. Rooms have no soundproofing and that is a big problem due to nearby very active train tracks. Combined with no A/C means that you will have a slim chance for a good night sleep.

Review 86:Breakfast buffet was good. It's within walking distance to all important sighseeing places and tour starting points which gave us opportunity to add some touristic flawour to our business trip.

Review 87:Check in staff, the guy who was on when we checked in needs a lesson in customer service, no help at all, could not check in until 3pm on the dot, what a joke, would never stay here again, we stayed here 3 years ago an it was excellent, not any more

Review 88:Hot room. No aircon. Train passing every hour or less....very noisy. Also heard guests moving about. Wont stay there again too soon.

Review 89:Staff and breakfast

Review 90:Very far from the airport and although I requested a shuttle there was nobody there to meet us and we had to take a taxi at a cost of €120. Also the room was quite small but adequate.

Review 91:I liked that it was central to all the shops and restaurants.

Review 92:Nothing to complain.

Review 93:We enjoyed a great breakfast at the restaurant of the hotel which has a beautiful view of the River Rhein. Rooms are pretty and clean.

Review 94:Room for 3 of a good size, not just a bed added. Great Breakfast Handy for Rhine Boat Trip, Cable Car, walking through Vine Yards and great wine tasting at the castle.

Review 95:The hotel was in two parts and was a maze to negotiate as breakfast was in the other hotel. The quality of the hotel and cleanliness of the corridors were not good. The breakfast experience was not good and some of the staff were extremely rude. Would not recommend this hotel.

Review 96:The junior suite was an excellent room at the back of the hotel with a balcony and a lovely view, lovely large bathroom and bedroom with seating area

Review 97:Only drawback is its proximity to the train tracks and the trains were passing by frequently and throughout the night so if you are a light sleeper it could be a problem especially if it is warm and you have the windows open.

Review 98:My kids loved that there was a pool. We liked that it was located so close to everything. The breakfast buffet was outstanding.

Review 99:Sharing breakfast tables with other customers that we didn't know.

Review 100:Excellent location along from the famous 'Drosselgasse' street. Nice hotel at a good price. Had a great stay.

Review 101:The sound of trains passing by, but soon you get used to it.

Review 102:just 5' walk from train station, opposite the Rhine river-plattform 14 where ship starts the cruise for rhine-in flames (fireworks). Very closed to famous strasse with cafes, restaurants with life music. The breakfast has a big variety of delicious food and the staff is very helpful.

Review 103:Wifi did not work for us.

Review 104:Staying in the suite which was lovely and great value for money. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Pool was good. Location of hotel was excellent.

Review 105:Everything was very nice. The staff was very friendly, rooms rather big and provided everything one needs. The pool is a great added value. Breakfast was delicious and the staff provides you with tips for local restaurants. A very pleasant stay and good value for money.

Review 106:Very close to the train tracks, due to it being summer and very warm we had to keep the windows open and the train went by at least 5 times during the night waking us up every time. Also close to a bar with live music nightly which impacted ability to sleep.

Review 107:Very good location, within walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. Parking on site made it very convenient to park the car and go.

Review 108:We reserved a room with a view of the river. If you are a light sleeper, would recommend not doing this. The train tracks was virtually across the street from our window. We heard every train that passed by. If we were having a conversation, we would have to wait until the train would pass just to be able to hear each other.

Review 109:Located close to shopping and restaurants. The breakfast buffet was great. The staff at the hotel was very nice.

Review 110:the price is too hight for the comfort room which did not seem much like a comfort room rather than the double standard room plus tv screen too small

Review 111:breakfast was good

Review 112:The noise of the trains was disturbing and they ran all night.

Review 113:The hotel was well positioned near the centre and the river. There was a free car park almost next door. The pool and sauna were nice.

Review 114:-The room and smells like smelly feet. And I realized it's from the inside of the old bed quilt. -W-Lane is only free for one person. But we have 2Adults and 1kid. -The train in the night is quit noisy. But any other hotel, which close to old town center, is impossible to get away from the noise.

Review 115:-Receipt people are very nice and helpful. When we arrive earlier, we can put our luggage in the Receiption to store. And they recerved a Parking place for me after seeing my message. -The Room for 2Adults and 1kid has enough and good space. -Breakfast room is in front of the Reihn. And Breakfast is good.

Review 116:Trains passing all time. Disturbing at night. Entry via other hotel. One glass in the room, old newspapers on TV. For four stars - lot of missing.

Review 117:Good location. Ideal to enjoy the famous event "Rhine in flames". Tasty breakfest, big choise.

Review 118:WIFI is very bad and didn't work in the room

Review 119:Fine location close to everything, Good pool, breakfast ok (but not if you are unlucky to eat at the same time as the groups). We had a fine room, but we saw others which was not so nice.

Review 120:It was very hot in Rudesheim and there was no air conditioning and not even a fan was provided in the room. If you left the window open, the noise of the trains would keep you awake so double glazing and air conditioning would have made a 10/10 instead of about 7/10 rating for this hotel. For this reason we would not return in the summer months. Also it was advertised as having free wifi which was misleading as we were advised that it was only free for one device and expensive if two were required for use. For this reason we would probably not return

Review 121:Very comfortable room and lovely bathroom Good breakfast

Review 122:AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS. This hotel experience was our worst in many years of traveling in Germany, France and Italy. It is located in a festive looking street of narrowly spaced hotels and cheesy souvenir shops. This strip is like any tourist trap with small time operators fleecing the helpless tourists with few other options. Upon arrival, there is no one at the reception desk and it looks like no one has ever been there. Asking at the souvenir shop reveals that this hotel is run by the same people as the one a few doors away and they share a common reception. I suppose it is too much trouble for the hotel to post a little sign on the reception desk that we should go to the next hotel for service. When we went to that hotel, we were given a key to a room that can be generously called a single room, not the triple room we booked. We went back to the reception and the guy argued that this is what the reservation was for, and he did not have any other rooms anyway. Even after we showed the booking.com reservation printout, including with an itemized list that clearly showed payment for the extra bed, he tried to argue out of the position by stating that the reservation is merely a request. When I questioned loudly in earshot of other similar travelers waiting to check in whether this is a hotel and how they expect to have customers, the manager in charge showed up, and after and fumbling around with the computer and some sheets of paper, magically, a “superior” triple room, their BEST room, was made available (just a few minutes ago, no rooms were available.) The room was passable, and we had no other options at that time of the evening on a busy tourist weekend. It did have three beds, just about enough room to squeeze us in, a TV that was a 13" CRT made in about the 1980s, not the sleek flat screen TVs portrayed in the hotel pictures.

Review 123:Nothing.

Review 124:The hotel is 2 meters from the railway so, you will not be able to sleep. So if you want to sleep after a long journey, this is definitely not the best option

Review 125:The breakfast was excellent.

Review 126:This is our second visit in 18months and the improvements we expectedhad not happened. Rooms are in need of a major refurbishment as are allthe common areas of the Hotel. Carpet in our room was so bad walkingbarefoot was not possible! Hotel Manager refused to serve drinks in theBar on 1st night due to being short staffed (Bar is next to Reception!).Parking is on a public car park away from the Hotel and expensive if youwere to park there all day. The Shopkeeper in an adjacent shop becameabusive when we stopped to off-load. Towards the end of Breakfast thehotel staff are hovering about to have their break in the breakfast room(including external maintenance contractors) which makes guests feeluncomfortable and you feel like you are overstaying your welcome! Sadlythis is going to be our last visit to this particular Hotel but notRudersheim.

Review 127:Location on the waterfront and being able to walk to the Cultural area.Helpfulness of one particular deputy manager was appreciated whenlooking for local places. Local food and bars are great and wediscovered Rudersheim Koffee!!

Review 128:Nothing actually. I think it was a very good value for the money I spent.

Review 129:Hotel location was great Staff was very friendly Breakfast included was pretty good and fresh

Review 130:The railway line is between the hotel & the Rhine which is quite noisy with regular trains & the internet kept dropping out & not available at times.

Review 131:The hotel is in walking distance to everthing in Rudesheim including shops, bars & the Rhine.

Review 132:We liked everything, even the trains.

Review 133:The location, was fantastic, only feet from the Drosselgasse, and next door to the Irish Pub. The lift was fantastic to the Germanian Monument and the hike to the Schloss. The lift down to Assmannshausen was special as was the River ride back to Rudesheim. Vineyards are everywhere and the wine is fantastic as are the people who serve you wherever you go.

Review 134:Only one device is valid for free wifi - other devices were 5 Euro each...and then the wifi stopped working completely and was not fixed.

Review 135:The location was good and the room was quiet.

Review 136:Very high bath with shower.hazardous hot water fluctuations.door opened right onto bed, small room. Very stuffy as windows had to be closed due to nonstop rail.no air con simply small desk fan which was totally inadequate.Bathroom supplies were already exhausted on and during 2 night stay. Not suitable for seniors unless exceptionally tall. Wi-Fi was pathetic, hardly ever connected. Staff agreed that it was always poor.

Review 137:Great for transfer from rail and ferry.Right near all recommended locations. Very good breakfast and swimming pool.

Review 138:Bad isolation! We could hear everything from the neighbours!
