Reviews for Hospes Palacio de Arenales & Spa
Review 1:Got lost as no name for the hotel to be seen from the road only a sign saying hotel. Sat nav took us to wrong location. Hotel said they are aware but not sure whether they are doing anything about it.
Review 2:Bedrooms were very well equipped even to supplying razor and shaving foam. Very quiet.
Review 3:Nothing negative
Review 4:The welcome was excellent, genuine & friendly - the room was superb with lots of extras - the bed was top quality The dining staff were attentive friendly & very professional especially Anna The spa was good
Review 5:My stay here was too short...
Review 6:The great atmosphere and unicity of the building. Excellent staff. Mid nature location. The spa. Close to the town. Close to the golf circuit. A place to return back
Review 7:The sleeping area is a mezaninne wheras the bathroom is on the ground floor. The wing we stayed at smelled like a swimming pool. The "complimentary spa" has very rigid rules. we skipped it altogether. The room service menu is very scarce.
Review 8:Bed and amenities were generally good. Parking facilities.
Review 9:spa is nice but a bit crowded - not really dependent on a hotel as they even limit a number of people per hour. a pity is that guests do not entirely respect it.
Review 10:rooms and personel (very kind and attentive)
Review 11:No dog's in the bar.
Review 12:The best value for money friendlyness of all the staff nothing was to much trouble and having 2 small dog's they made our stay a Pleasure.
Review 13:Not a bad experience but why no seats in the lovely grounds for folks to watch the storks in season or just admire the views. The underground parking is not accessible from inside the hotel. Too long a walk for elderly and/or disabled. Perhaps a few parking places near the entrance?
Review 14:Warm reception and help with luggage to our room. Excellent restaurant service. Rate the staff highly. Comfortable room with even a choice of pillow type.
Review 15:I was surprised at the cost of €30 per dog per night. 1 small and 1 medium. Most hotels that cater for dogs have not charged us for their stay.
Review 16:The location. Just off the motorway and out of town.
Review 17:Sign for the hotel was not easily visible from the road and so easily missed. Could be improved. General ambience created on refurbishment was a little too clinical for our taste.
Review 18:17th century building now modernised and extended. Rooms are very spacious offering great ambience and comfort. Restaurant offered excellent cuisine and service. Spa facility looked lovely.
Review 19:A bit far out of the town - needed the car Noisy guests the night before a wedding
Review 20:Hotel layout High quality furnishings Lovely breakfast Easy parking
Review 21:On leaving the hotel we realised we had left an IPAD charger in our room. When we got to Costa del Sol we made a request to have it posted to our apartment in a the Costa Del Sol and offered to pay postage. We had a reply saying thIs was not possible. Very disappointed.
Review 22:Easy to find from the motorway. We had a nice meal and found the hotel very comfortable. Our dog was very content in the room.
Review 23:We were waiting outside the spa for 10mins there has no staff, we went to the front desk to ask and they couldn't find the staff was working there. Apart from that Service was ok. Inside the air-con was full of dust. I didn't even want to turn it on.
Review 24:The 50% increase in charge for our dog. Only notified of the amount after completeing the booking. There was an option to cancel but I feel the charge is excessive and should have been shown before booking.
Review 25:Location is excellent for overnight on route, north to south Spain
Review 26:The hotel is all rather spread out with no comfortable lounge as such but with random bits of seating everywhere. The bar is across a courtyard.
Review 27:Really lovely staff, who are all friendly and accommodating. Plenty of space to walk our dog, an outdoor pool and an indoor spa with good treatments. Good free parking and a short taxi ride to the city. A very enjoyable stay.
Review 28:There was not a proper English speaking staff, which is quite important in a 5 star hotel, especially the waiting staff in the SPA area didn't have any clue what was I talking about, in the end he pushed me from my shoulder to the SPA area :-) This was the best option for him when he didn't get any word I said...
Review 29:Everything
Review 30:A sign at motorway exit and to main entrance would help a tired foreign traveller! It's on the county not town side of motorway, and reception is second entrNce not car park! Minor quibble to a great hotel
Review 31:Very well equipped and staff super
Review 32:Nothing
Review 33:We stayed here as we did not wish to drive into Caceres. It is easy to find and the facilities are excellent. Great value for the money and highly recommended.
Review 34:The instructions for using the spa were not in English so we did not know we needed swimming caps. The directions for finding the resort needed to be much clearer.
Review 35:Room was excellent. We were in room 122 which was very quiet which was exactly what we were wanting.
Review 36:I thought that 30 euros, for the dog for one night was excessive.
Review 37:Really enjoyed staying in th hotel. It has a peaceful atmosphere, it has character but with all mod cons, and has easy access from the motorway.
Review 38:Overcrowded small pool with no entry ladder or way of entering safely
Review 39:This hotel could be excellent - it just needs guidance on fixing the basics. We booked Romantic package and it was expensive. The evening meal was not special, limited choice and no accompaniments. Breakfast lay out chaotic items not logically placed near by. Hot breakfast listed but not offered by waiting staff. Frustrated guests. Disappointing experience spoiled by lack of confident trained staff
Review 40:Swimming pool outdoor is a bit small. Rooms are a little dark.
Review 41:Staff at reception gave us a super welcome. She was really nice and helpful. spa was good. Rooms are very nice. Sparkling wine bottle in the room. Good breakfast
Review 42:+ swimming pool too small with very bad synthetic turf and grounds + not enough deck chairs + horrible products (breakfast) - We kept it to one single try ... + mojito at the bar is an undrinkable ready-made mixture
Review 43:+ Quietness + Nice surroundings
Review 44:Nice hotel, altough a bit unpersonal. The Spa was a bit dissapointing, the hot area and the pool with waterfall and the longchairs were all in the same area, no area to relax in silence as the noise from the water is really annoying. Outdoor pool is very small, the plastic grass matts are very hot to walk on. Wifi in the rooms was not working quite well.
Review 45:Nice hotel, nice bedrooms, nice area; kind reception,
Review 46:beautiful facility - close to main town - just off motor way - fantastic stop off hotel on long road journey through Spain. Staff were fabulous - we unfortunately managed to leave a lot of travel documents and cash in our room as we left the hotel - they found them a held onto them for a week so we could safely collect the material on our way back.
Review 47:Breakfast
Review 48:Large clean comfortable rooms, friendly knowledgeable and helpful staff.absolutely superb restaurant sadly let down by remote location and poor breakfast. However, we had been travelling for a few days and found this hotel very restful and really had no reason to venture out
Review 49:Boring view of car park from bedroom, poor food for dinner which was expensive, lack of shade to sit outside having a drink in evening
Review 50:Convenient for motorway, pleasant friendly staff
Review 51:It's a little bit out of town, but if you want a peaceful location it's not really a minus at all.
Review 52:Spa, staff very attentive. Complimentary cava in our room.
Review 53:Pricey and I object to the money being taken from my account days before we arrived when my credit card was, I understood, to hold the rooms not to pay for both ours and our friends room.
Review 54:The hotel was pleasant clean and comfortable
Review 55:Only the minor point of eggs and the slightly slow service in the restaurant at breakfast.
Review 56:Staff very helpful and courteous reception and snack bar especially. Breakfast was good but lacked some items we are used to in other hotels - hard boiled eggs! The room was very comfortable and quiet. The complex was lovely and well set out.
Review 57:Breakfast is a total disaster! Very poor staff, dirty tables left uncleared with people waiting. Exterior tables not prepared or cleaned. The bar is a joke. Long wait and poor service! Bathroom not fit for purpose with dirty windows and no storage space despite being big.
Review 58:Location is great! Attentive reception.
Review 59:The location, if you trave without a car it´s quite difficult to get to the city centre.
Review 60:A very frienly staff. Comfortable and beautiful rooms, a great spa area
Review 61:This is an excellent hotel. Beautiful rooms. Staff wete very helpful and pleadant. Food was really good and the location near A62 was brilliant. Definitely stay there again en route to Ferry at Santander
Review 62:Slight pongy odour in our room needs attention. Went when I opened the windows for about an hour.
Review 63:Excellent meal the €45 was good value and great quality. Beds 5*.
Review 64:There was not anything to complain about.
Review 65:Everything, the food in the restaurant was beautiful,, the room was huge and luxurious and the staff so helpful and we didn't have to struggle with Spanish as the staff had made sure there was someone on hand who spoke English, the complementary carva brut and fruit salad mouse finished a perfect stay.
Review 66:Nothing.
Review 67:Not an exaggeration to say everything at the hotel is excellent. Room and bed very comfortable, male receptionist extremely courteous and helpful - complementary bottle of wine in room. WiFi reception very good. We used it as a stopover to travel through Spain - good location very close to A66. We will be going back.
Review 68:Spa was a extra payment of 25 Euros per person per night. Hence we did not use this and thought it was included in room price.
Review 69:We used this hotel because it was handy for the motorway as we were traveling to portugal. Staff could not do enough for you, excellent.
Review 70:I am coeliac and the hotel produced the nicest gf bread I've ever had! Also we were upgraded to a junior suite at no extra cost with complimentary sparkling wine in our room.
Review 71:It was over priced to be honest, our room smelt of damp a bit and the window shutter was broken, so more attention to maintenance is needed to be honest. For a 5* hotel I would have expected the food to be better, wasn't hot when it arrived, was wrong in terms of what I ordered but was put right, but this should be got right first time of asking, breakfast to the room in the morning was late and I had to chase for it twice! There needs to be someone in the evenings that can speak English as it was very difficult to get anyone to understand us when we were checking in at around 20.00 hours.
Review 72:The hotel is set in a very nice setting, it feels like it is well cared for and wants to give a great service to its guests
Review 73:Little far out so drive/taxi required in to Caseras. Nothing within walking distance of the hotel. Nice menu in restaurant but perhaps could be a little more inventive in the bar/Cafe area not a whole lot of choices.
Review 74:Staff were lovely nothing seemed too much trouble. Welcome bottle of cava on ice in room on arrival. Lovely dressing gown, slippers and toiletries for use during your stay. Room was very clean and comfortable.
Review 75:Nothing, except the storks had already gone.
Review 76:Warm greetings by the staff, welcoming bottle of sparkling wine and fruit salad, large room, excellent breakfast, bathroom large and well equipped, easy to get to town centre, good restaurant at hotel, great value for money all round.
Review 77:The signage. Both for the entrance when driving into the Hotel, and the very small sign showing the Reception. The arrow should be re-painted to indicate the way.
Review 78:This is an excellent hotel, We dined and enjoyed our meal. The only regret was our short stay since we were travelling from Brittany - France to Gibraltar.
Review 79:spa not included in room rate, food was poor although they were catering a wedding at the same time.
Review 80:Rooms, decoration, location, ambience. Welcome bottle of Cava. Plushy dressing gowns.
Review 81:On the first night our "deluxe" room's A/C broke. we reported it in the morning but the hotel was not able to get it looked at until right before the wedding late in the afternoon( No time to move rooms, as we were in the middle of showering and dressing for wedding when the repairmen came and ssid we could move. Repairmen indicated they could fix it while we were at wedding, but they were not able to do that, so we had a warm room for 2 nights. There was also a bad odor coming from bathroom. This was reported Saturday morning along with the broken AC, but nobody came to look at it that day at all. They offered me a free night in the future but there is almost no chance that we would return to that remote area of Spain again. A discount on the room would have been more appropriate and appreciated.
Review 82:Being with our friends.
Review 83:Sat Nav couldn't locate actual address and directed us all over the area. Signposts advertising the Hospes were not clearly visible.
Review 84:Friendly, welcoming, helpful staff made such a difference to us on arrival after hours of driving through high mountainous areas. our room was upgraded and we were greeted with a bottle of champagne. The hotel was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean with a small but lovely pool. Catering staff were charming and made one feel special. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this relaxing Hospes.
Review 85:Swimming pool was not open although it was June ( we were told it was due to local regulations). The alternative was the indoor spa which we would have had to pay for. Not good on a really hot summers day!
Review 86:Free bottle of cava and sweets on arrival. The stork city right beside the hotel.
Review 87:We were honoured guests, including our dog.
Review 88:Restaurant food was a little below expectations in choice , for a 5 star hotel
Review 89:Large open spaces for walking and not crowded
Review 90:Location.Great staff.Food Excellent. This was our second visit to this hotel, and it certainly will not be our last. Everything just fabulous.
Review 91:The spa is now very tired and needs work to modernise it

Review 96:nice property, staff friendly
Review 97:Big band music during dinner and breakfast! No English programs on TV
Review 98:This is an excellent hotel. Beautiful location, rooms and facilities. Staff are excellent. Extremely good service
Review 99:Usual Spanish late opening of restaurant for evening meal.
Review 100:Easy access from motorway.
Review 101:Too many steps. Low ceilings, dark rooms. Air con and wifi not working. Understaffed. Spa too far from rooms.
Review 102:Attentive staff, spa included, proximity to the town
Review 103:Tired spa facilities. Out-of-date shandy in the restaurant. Stale croissants at breakfast.
Review 104:Comfortable room.
Review 105:Super friendly staff, swimming pool, great interior
Review 106:Stayed for one night only on way back from the Algarve a very good relaxing stopover minutes from the motorway will stay longer next time.
