Reviews for Hotel Gaudi

Review 1:We loved the location, across from the Cathedral and the Gaudi. We especially loved Maria the front desk concierge who went out of her way to accommodate our every need. Beautiful hotel to experience!

Review 2:hotel bar/cafeteria needs chairs recovered. a bit shabby, but the service was good and the coffee wonderful.

Review 3:desk staff super friendly and very helpful. our room had a view of the gaudi building and plaza which was wonderful.

Review 4:Not sufficient light in the room. No recharging sockets.

Review 5:Location right across from the cathedral and Gaudi's palace. A popular place with pilgrims.

Review 6:Helpful staff, good room, they were able to accommodate early arrival when I got there, which was much appreciated. There is a restaurant and a bar with a less extensive menu than the restaurant, and also an outdoor cafe on the plaza between the Gaudi palace and the Cathedral. One of the most pleasant towns on the Camino, possibly owing to the fact that it has historically been at the crossroads of trade routes and aware of the needs of out-of-Towners.

Review 7:Booking.com had made an error and we'd booked a twin room for 1, instead of 2 (!!) which i'd written to the hotel to clarify, but the grumpy unhelpful receptionist "had to put us in another room" which cost more than if we'd booked the same one online. I'd also asked in my email for a room overlooking the cathedral, but they clearly don't read Special Requests sent to them via Booking.com, and we were in a cold room overlooking a wall. One of the reasons I booked was for the bath (much needed after the Camino Trail) but there was no plug, and when I asked for one (and later for a second towel as there were 2 of us) the woman had to come up to the room each time to check that I was telling the truth... not a fun stay.

Review 8:Great location.

Review 9:None

Review 10:The staff were exceptional. I had mistakenly made our reservation for the previous day but they booked us into a very large family room and did not charge us an additional night, which they could have easily done. They were very fair and gracious about my mistake and made us feel very welcome. The hotel facilities are comfortable and nice and the location, literally across the street from the Gaudi Church, is unbeatable.

Review 11:Nothing.

Review 12:Location on the Camino and the main square near the church was very good for us. The options for dinner are large - we had excellent raciones at the bar nearby.

Review 13:Well not exactly what was advertised. The property itself was immediately adjacent to the cathedral which I think is a net positive but be aware that the bells are run every 15 minutes. Air Conditioning didn't work, WiFi wasn't accessible in the rooms, the 24/7 reception wasn't (you had to inquire in the cafeteria and they would find someone), the reception staff seemed a bit put-out, and the amenities in the room were a bit run down (e.g., the towel holder fell off the wall when I removed the towel).

Review 14:Close to the cathedral and the Gaudi museum.

Review 15:Breakfast was not included.

Review 16:We rented bikes which were delivered to the hotel. The staff was extremely helpful when we experienced problems with the bikes.

Review 17:Wifi was terrible, almost none in room and little in the small entryway. Room and hotel okay

Review 18:Hotel was fine, clean and in a great location. Gaudi's Bishop's Palace is a beautiful museum, a must see and hotel is right near it and the cathedral.

Review 19:Restaurant closed form breakfast on Wednesday morning (this did not bother me as I was able to have coffee and juice at the bar but might have disappointed some

Review 20:Fantastic view of Gaudi palace from my room

Review 21:Staff very friendly and attentive, always helpful . Easy access from motorway, well located in historic centre of a interesting city with good restaurant and café and all sights and amenities easily reached.

Review 22:Breakfast ( extra) was very limited even by Spanish standards. Did not avail of other alternatives by leaving the hotel. Evening main meal was acceptable

Review 23:Great location with view over Gaudi "folly" of bishops residence- well worth a visit. Secured one of the few free parking spaces outside the hotel for duration of our visit.

Review 24:Center of town. The locals go there. Good food and good bar.

Review 25:Location especially near the bus station.

Review 26:Close enough to city center but out of the craziness there. Clean and comfortable.

Review 27:The street view of the Gaudi designed cathedral. (Picture attached)

Review 28:Tired linens.

Review 56:Nothing to dislike

Review 57:The view Very convenient Friendly staff

Review 58:Nice bar. Convenient. Excellent town to stay in.

Review 59:Room was small. Good for only comfortably.

Review 60:Clean room good location

Review 61:Dripping water, noisy bells from the fantastic cathedral.

Review 62:Staff was not friendly or available. No air conditioning. Right across street from Cathedral & bells rang every 15 minutes until 11:00 pm.

Review 63:Close to Cathedral & center city

Review 64:Hotel Management were rude and arrogant. I am a pilgrim on my own traveling to Santiargo and the lady on reception refused to call the backpack transport company on my behalf. This is something that even the hostels are happy to do. The bedroom was smelly, the bed concave in the middle and the bathroom wasn't very clean. I stay the night & checked outed an hour later as I was so upset by their attitude.

Review 65:In the morning I went in the bar and asked for some hot water to go with the oats I'd brought. The bartender brought me a little metal pitcher of hot water and an empty mug to put the oats in. A little thing like that is a big help when you're traveling. Front desk was also super helpful (e.g., forwarding a package to Santiago via nearby albergue).

Review 66:Wifi speed was a little slow. The staff spoke no English, but it gave us the reason to use our phrase book that worked well.

Review 67:This was a great hotel in the middle of the fantastic little town of Astorga.

Review 68:No speaks English even a slight amount would be nice since there were several pilgrims staying.

Review 69:The room was great for size and comfort, except no fan which would be nice with the heat.

Review 70:I am 6 foot tall and the bed was too short for me by a couple of inches, and the air conditioning was too noisy. I had a bad nights sleep!

Review 71:A nice hotel right by the cathedral.

Review 72:As above

Review 73:I was disappointed to find that there was no satellite TV and I was told that the air conditioner was only for cooling. As the weather is very cold I was hoping to control the temperature in my room

Review 74:Doors groaning and creaking every time someone comes or goes it echoes down the corridor - need oiling

Review 75:Service was fantastic good sized room great bathroom restaurant / bar staff and front lady very helpful. Fantastic location lovely area.

Review 76:I loved the view of Gaudi's Palace from our room. Also I recommend having the Pilgrim Menu. A good variety in lovely surroundings and good service.

Review 77:Nothing at all

Review 78:All things were wonderful All the staff was so gentile and helpful. The hotel is a so precious building. Especially the dining-room and the bar. The situation at the place of cathedral and the Gaudi-house is wonderful. It is ideal place while staying on the camino

Review 79:The walls are a bit thin, heard every word of a conversation with the guy next door on his speaker phone.

Review 80:Excellent location and comfortable room.

Review 81:Nothing

Review 82:Door and wardrobe hinges noisy. They need oiling.

Review 83:Very close to Gaudi Palace and Cathedral, many restaurants etc.
