Reviews for Hotel Astur Plaza

Review 1:We had a bit of trouble finding the parking entrance.

Review 2:Excellent location on the main square. Good parking underground, accessible from a street behind the hotel.

Review 3:Very difficult to find by car (some hints at booking would have helped)but that was compensated for when we arrived

Review 4:Excellent value and pleasant staff Astorga is well worth a visit. Restaurant is very flexible as it caters for pilgrims on the Camino

Review 5:Hotel is located directly on the Camino Frances route in the heart of friendly Astorga. Close to all major sights. Very good restaurant next door.

Review 6:The parking garage is tricky to find, and parking there is not easy to negotiate.

Review 7:Right on the main square in the centre of Astorga next to the City Hall; easy walking distance to the Gaudi (Archbishop's) Palace, Cathedral, and a variety of first-class restaurants

Review 8:Nothing

Review 9:Absolutely great service with front desk ..Marita went out of her way to help us, Perfectissimo! Hotel is in a great location with access to all

Review 10:I think the noise might have been unbearable if we had been assigned a room facing the plaza. Ask for a quiet room.

Review 11:Our room was large, clean, and beautiful. Everything worked well including the air conditioning. We stayed at the hotel for three days during a local fiesta that included rock bands and other noisy activities in the plaza in front of the hotel. We heard almost none of the noise because our room did not face the plaza.

Review 12:Hotel parking facilities, very poor difficult access only suitable for small vehicles. Hotel has confusing practice with all day menu - not available all day? Bar tender prefers checking his phone instead of serving customers.

Review 13:Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast.

Review 14:The breakfast left a little to be desired. Quite expensive for what you get

Review 15:Pilgrims are treated to a free mini bar which was very considerate. We were also treated to a balcony overlooking the Plaza so had a commanding view of the Roman festival

Review 16:Shower was not great in fact the nozzle was broken forcing you to take s bath. Wifi not great as you are forced to keep logging in.

Review 17:The hotel is in a very central location and near everything. The rooms are clean and the staff friendly.

Review 18:Very pleasant and helpful hostess at checkin who spoke English well and was able to direct us toplaces we wanted to go. Lovely room, near the clock with the mechanical figures striking on the hour, close to Gaudi Palace and cathedral.

Review 19:The very cold Coke in the free minibar was unbelievably good after a long day's walk on the Camino! The location in the main square was very nice, especially with the soundproof window system.

Review 20:Very comfortable room with excellent ensuite facilities.6.30am breakfast for any Peregrinos wanting an early start !!!!. Fantastic staff on reception.Very helpful and kind.

Review 21:The bed was ROCK hard. Not very different from many beds I slept on in the hostels. A comfortable bed is what I was looking for specifically.luxury

Review 22:The location is fabulous! The air conditioning nice

Review 23:The waiter at the restaurant at dinner was extremely rude. Practically threw things at us and disappeared. We had to go to the cashier and request our bill.

Review 24:Located in the town square with good shops, restaurants and places of interest within an easy walk. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Absolutely perfect in every way at an unbelievably low price. First Class.

Review 25:Beautiful rooms with high ceilings and windows. Our room looked over the square ....but this may be noisy on a weekend..the Spanish stay up late!

Review 26:Absolutely everything.. staff were welcoming and helpful, room and beds extremely comfortable. Location is superb; our room overlooked town square but double glazing filters out noise. Highly recommend for any traveller to Astorga

Review 27:That we couldn't stay longer.

Review 28:Upon arriving from the Camino, wet, cold & hungry late at night, the reception quickly assisted to get everything ready. Martina, I believe was her name - she spoke excellent english. Then as we were waiting for our dinner, I suddenly fainted! Staff at restaurant were so gracious and had me lie down on the floor & quickly gave me cinnamon tea. Seems they're an expert in fainting pilgrims. They totally went out of their way to ensure our comfort & safety. The hotel was just as lovely as the staff too. Food - cocido was great!

Review 29:Proximity to town and the Old Towne, comfort and the wonderful front office staff that made our late evening arrival. The towne was full and we lucked out after a long trio from Logrono.. Thanks so much...

Review 30:Breakfast buffet was a little overpriced for the quality.

Review 31:Front desk staff was very helpful and she spoke excellent English. Convenient location on main square.

Review 32:No complaints

Review 33:I arrived early for checkin and was graciously allowed to store my pack while I had lunch and explored Astorga. My room was exceptional and overlooked the Plaza Mayor with its classic clock. A restful break on my Camino journey. Breakfast buffet to start the next day was good and filling.

Review 34:Can't really think of anything I didn't like from my point of view!

Review 35:Breakfast excellent in lovely room...pet friendly and secure underground parking with access to hotel and rooms. Friendly staff who spoke English. Spacious Junior Suite. Location on main Square. Reasonable value for money.

Review 36:The ramp to the dining room is far too steep to be safe, we told thereceptionist this.

Review 37:That it was at the centre of the city with everything in walkingdistance - access around the city was excellent for wheelchairs exceptfor the Gaudie castle. Lots of Camino Pilgrims in this city with verywelcoming citizens

Review 38:This hotel is on the Plaza Mayor and our room had a balcony overlooking the plaza. The room even included air conditioning! At night, when we wanted to go to sleep, the double windows kept the noise from the plaza from entering our room. The staff was extremely helpful. And the restaurant kept hours that are very accommodating to pilgrims. All in all, an excellent hotel.

Review 39:We're given a room where someone had obviously been smoking. They did move us, however, when we asked.

Review 84:WiFi kept cutting out.

Review 85:Very friendly and helpful front desk. And, free minibar!

Review 86:location was very good but difficult to find with a car as it was situated on a square. The rooms were a good size but not well furnished, needed an upgrade.

Review 87:Room felt very basic for the price.

Review 88:Nice location on one of the main squares with a popular bar and restaurant. Good buffet breakfast which set us up for our walk on the Camino.

Review 89:The people and the location make the Hotel Astur a special place. The receptionists were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable...my room had a balcony over the plaza. One of the best places on the Camino to take a break!

Review 90:Location, location, location! Fortunate to have a room with balcony overlooking the square - so nice. The desk (and restaurant) staff couldn't be more helpful or friendly. Peregrino menu not marvellous but satisfying. Bedroom separated from hotel corridor by bathroom and entrance hall so no noise in room hence a good night's sleep.

Review 91:This is a lovely hotel in the small City of Astorga which has a Cathedral and a Gaudi Palace. Our room 201 was very comfortable with a small balcony overlooking the Square from where we watched the Palm Sunday Parade. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was very good. Parking is at the sister hotel 5 minutes walk away and locked and safe. The extremely busy restaurant was great fun with huge portions. very good value, highly recommended.

Review 92:Wifi - didn't work in my room. Worked in common areas but, required constant re-logging in. Not good guys. Needs considerable improvement.

Review 93:Great location & staff. My room looked out over the Plaza. Wow! Room heating was adjustable, very good.

Review 94:The room was lovely & comfortable. The included breakfast exceptional. The staff was very helpful & went out of their way to make our visit delightful. An excellent location, close to the cathedral & walking distance to all the sights we wanted to visit.

Review 95:Bad and very slow service at their bar tables in the square.

Review 96:Desk staff extremely helpful. Minibar with free water and soft drinks. Room directly onto the square but good sound proofing for city clock that chimed the hours throughout the night. Breakfast OK.

Review 97:Room 103 Best view ever! Overlooks Plaza Mayor and clock tower with bronze couple striking bell on the hour. Large room, great air conditioning, superior staff, clean, two twin beds pushed together with firm mattress and nice pillows. There is a hallway from room door into bedroom with second door so room is quiet from within hotel and double doors on balcony keep out noise from outside on plaza. Bathroom features tub and shower combination. Only negative was that I could not get wifi connection but I would definitely stay in this lovely hotel in this equally lovely city again!

Review 98:We were only there for one night and had no complaints

Review 99:Nice hotel in centre of lovely town ,right on Camino route in a very pretty square convenient to all the historic buildings and facilities, good size comfortable room, helpful staff

Review 100:We loved the great location in Astorga with the Hotel having it's own underground car park. Reception and restaurant staff were most welcoming and very efficient/helpful. They were happy to serve us with an excellent evening meal at 10.30 at night. Rooms spotlesslya clean and well equipped and a great place to people watch from.

Review 101:Location was fantastic with a room that overlooked the square. Receptionstaff couldn't do enough to help and were keen to identify all thesights of Astorga and also where the best restaurants were. We ended upeating at the hotel which was good value but not the best paella we haveeaten but lots of it and good quality. Room was spacious and spotless.

Review 102:Absolute perfect location - ask for a room overlooking the square. Great stopover town and the hotel is the one to choose!! Big rooms, clean and just feel good.

Review 103:Breakfast was a bit hit and miss as we were on our own and every time weneeded something the receptionist had to come and serve us as there wereno dining room staff.

Review 104:The receptionist was very helpful and we had a very large roomoverlooking the square, I think mainly because we seemed to be the onlypeople staying there.

Review 105:The central location and the friendly and professional welcome from Anna at hotel reception. The room was very comfortable, overlooking Plaza Espana, and was tastefully decorated.
