Reviews for Apartamentos La Casa del Barrio
Review 1:In December we were a bit cold in spite of the heater.Electricity tripped if we used too many things at the same time. I would prefer duvets rather than sheets and blankets.
Review 2:Position, views, wonderful village, great area around and good walks.Pepe a great landlord, always hospitable and responsive. Love these flats and would like to return.
Review 3:Very little not to like. There is no longer a bank or cash point in Maro. The nearest bank is in Nerja. Our stay coincided with the preparation for the annual Maro Feria. Parking near the accommodation was difficult on the last day and and could be very difficult over the Feria weekend - the first weekend in September. You can drive most of the way down to Maro beach (Playa de Maro) but parking is difficult. At busy times you have to drop off and then drive part way back up the hill to park at the side of the road.
Review 4:Maro is a quiet village and the accommodation is located on the south-east side overlooking the sea. Even though it was fully booked it was quiet - there was no noise at night. The bedroom and the small room with bunk beds were separate from the living/dining room. The living room opened directly onto the terrace and the communal area and plunge pool. This was ideal for our grandson. Parking is possible on the quiet street outside. Maro has two beaches. The main beach, La Cala de Maro (also called Playa de Maro), has facilities including a café and you can hire a sea canoe (a kayak) for 7.50€ an hour. The second beach, La Caleta, is quieter. It is possible to drive most of the way to La Caleta beach - but it is a dirt track and so you may prefer to walk.
Review 5:15 minutes walk to the beach. Ants at the kitchen.
Review 6:Very nice owner. Told us were to go. Nice town Maro. Minimarkets nearby. 5 minutes to mercadonna by car. 5 minutes to the beach by car.
Review 7:The bunk beds. The top bunk is not suitable for young ( no safety rail ) or older people ( difficult to get onto and a bit unstable! )
Review 8:Great location, we have visited Maro before and it is a lovely pretty village with views to the sea and countryside. Its peaceful and unspoilt with several places to eat or to enjoy an evening drink or morning coffee overlooking the sea. La Entrada restaurant is recommended, friendly staff and nice local food. We were given a warm welcome by Pepe when we arrived at La Casa del Barrio, which included a map of Maro and the surrounding area. We had a top floor apartment with sea views, it was clean and perfect for a short break. It is situated in the centre of the village and a 15/20 minute walk to the beach, 5 minutes by car, but if driving go early or later in the afternnoon as parking is limited. Maro is very convenient for visiting the caves of Nerja and Nerja town and beaches. Will return in the furture.
Review 9:Not the properties fault but a few nights I could hear a dog barking (its a small village) which was a bit annoying.
Review 10:Everything was perfect.
Review 11:Maro still very much the same as our last visit 20 years ago. Adequate shops and four restaurants, two of them very good.
Review 12:would have been good to have had a changed of towels; someone/bin liners to dispose of the rubbish.
Review 13:spacious accommodation. rooftop pool.
Review 14:We stayed for five nights and had the same towels for the six days. We didn't have a washing machine at our apartment so I could not do them myself. Fresh towels after three days please.
Review 15:The location in the little village of Maro is wonderful. Good local places to eat. You can walk to the beach. Maro beach has loo's and a lttle bar as well as sun beds. Two friendly shops for essentials. It's a quiet old town. A lttle part of old Spain. I would recommend this place for peace and tranquility. Nerja town is a five minute drive as is Burriana beach with it's wonderful seaside restaurants. The apartment was a good, basic place to stay and I would stay here again.
Review 16:Terrace gets very slippy when wet from the pool. Suggest wearing sandalsimmediately on getting out of the pool, for greater safety. Also no stepin/out of pool - we were fine, but imagine could be a problem forsome people.
Review 17:Maro: lovely village, primarily residential not touristy; my second stayhere. For the second week I was on my own and Maro is fine for the solovisitor. The top flat: great westward view of mountains, sea, and sunsetbetween them. Beach is a 1 km trek, but fine when it's a small partof your holiday: We also went to the caves (a must!), markets, intoNerja, lots of short local walks and a long walk in the hills. All doneon foot, buses and the occasional taxi: you dont need a car, unless youwant to spend every day on the beach with small children and lots ofbeach gear. Great staff: Pepe responded promptly to all questions andissues (E.G. when light bulb went) and provided maps and info on walks.Flat was clean and had everythng we needed. Small pool and terrace werea great feature on days we didn't go to the beach; lovley to take adip, sunbathe to dry off, and relax on the terrace after a day outwalking or sightseeing. Terrace is shared but no-one else was ever usingit when we wanted to! Hope to return before too long!
Review 18:Nothing about the apartments, but it is a shame there is not a better choice of places to eat out in the evening in Maro itself, although Nerja is just a short car journey away.
Review 19:The quiet location with wonderful sunset views in unspoilt Maro with access to beaches one way and the mountains the other, and the excellent internet access.
Review 20:Ants in the room! If you leave a piece of food on the floor, there will be a lot of insects around in 15 minutes! Beds are extremely terrible. Double bed's mattress is very, very rigid. Second one, 2-floors bed is suitable only for little children because it staggers and creaks. Also I would like to headline that fact that our pillows smelled like a mouse died inside a month ago... We washed them... (there is a washer in the basement). Also if you plan to stay there please note that beach is about 1.5 km down from the mountain, so car is necessary...
Review 21:Maro is wonderful village with perfect national aspects. It's not artificial touristic village, no, but it is real old, ancient village. Beach is nice. If you come there earlier 10 am, there will be nobody!
Review 22:No air-conditioner in room and i afraid, that will be so hot , but themperature was good and even some cold at night. Internet was some unstable. Our apartments was disposed at first floor and sometimes our kitchen crowl with ants. Our friends' apartment in second floor did'nt have this problem.
Review 23:Good apartments with all facillities for comfortable life. Good condition for cooking. Very friendly administrator Pepe, which resolve all our problem! Excellent location in quiet village Maro near Nerja town in Costa del Sol.
Review 24:the nearest beach within walking distance dirty, with dogs
Review 25:accessable owner -Pepe, quiet rooms, no need to clean the apartment before leaving, access to washing machine, near to beautiful beaches by car
Review 26:Only the living room had AC, but since the building windows are facing south, the bedrooms'temparatures remained comfortable, even in July.
Review 27:Nerja is probably the best Seaside Town of the whole Costa del sol, and Maro is a cute little village just 4 km away. We loved our spacious apartment, the views. I strongly recommend it to any kind of travelers. The cost is rocky with fantastic beaches, great for snorkeling.
Review 28:Pool is small and lacks laying down and relaxation. Must have car a bit far from beach View from balcony isn't amazing
Review 29:Location is away from city and cars. It was quite and cozy somehow.
Review 30:You really need a car as the local mini market was Open For Limited Times.
Review 31:We had one of the top apartments with a private balcony With Great Views And A Place To Eat And Watch The Sun Set. It Was Quiet When We Stayed. Maro Is A Lovely Small Town With A Great Bar Cafe At The Balcony And A Choice of Local Places To Eat Maro Is Only A 10 Min Drive To Nerja. The Local Beach Was As Good As Any In Nerja And Obviously Popular On The Weekends With The Locals.
Review 32:Not much. The apartment had everything we needed.
Review 33:Maro is a fantastic location. An unspolit quiet pueblo perched between a secluded caleta and the mountains at the start of an unspoilt stretch of cliff coastline with beaches tucked below, yet with Nerja and all its restaurants and shops just 3 kilometres away. The apartment itself had great sunset views and, importantly for me, a reliable free internet connection. Good television with English channel availability too.
Review 34:The pool was to small and no steps to climb in and out
Review 35:The small town and quierdness
Review 36:Beach is quite far from aparment-a car is essential
Review 37:Beatiful surroundings Beatiful view from apartment quiet, nice Maro
Review 38:Maro is a very nice little village. There is a great view from the apartment. The apartment had everything we needed.
Review 39:difficult to get to beaches
Review 40:Spanish village, good restaurants, quite & scenic
Review 41:Kitchen not particularly well equipped. Mattresses very uncomfortable.
Review 42:Location, Spacious, Cleanliness.
