Reviews for Parador de Caceres
Review 1:Driving to the Parador was difficult in narrow roads and nowhere near to park easily. The manager was very helpful in leading us to the car park at some distance.
Review 2:First experience of a Parador - stunning. In the beautiful old town. Once we had settled in it was most enjoyable.
Review 3:The sat Nav had difficulty locating the Parador and the very narrow 15th century streets were not built for modern cars. This, coupled with random parking in some streets made the journey Into and from the old town a nightmare.
Review 4:Once inside the Parador the staff were excellent and the facilities were very good. We had a wonderful room with plenty of space and the lighting was excellent for reading in bed at night and the dinner was very good and we tasted the local dishes which were interesting. The surrounding medieval town was excellent for a visit as was the Archeological museum.
Review 5:Nothing.
Review 6:The parador is a historic building very well presented, mixing old and contemporary features in the inside. A must 'see and stay'. The staff members are very helpful and kind.
Review 7:Very friendly staff, beautiful restaurant and great evening meal / good breakfast. Beautiful and characterful building, and large, clean and well appointed room. Plus, contrary to other reviews, we were able to park right beside the Parador at no charge. On top of this, Caceres is definitely worth visiting!
Review 8:Parking was difficult but staff did show us to underground car park for a small additional cost v
Review 9:Good location in old town. Excellent breakfast and dinner. Lovely old building.
Review 10:Great location in the heart of the old city, 10 minutes walk from Plaza Mayor with many restaurants and action. The hotel is located in an old palace. Very generous staff, helped is our way from the car, which we had to park on the rear part due of the hotel, up to our room. Caseres has an authentic old quarter.
Review 11:Hotel located in middle of medieval city surrounded by very narrow streets, some of which impassable by car with no warning signage as appropriate. Despite hotel knowing we had a car, they provided no directions, advice or street plan with recommended routes for guests.
Review 12:Lovely building, friendly staff.
Review 13:Nothing
Review 14:The Old Town in Caceres was a great place to explore. The Parador was perfect in every way - friendly and helpful staff, great ambiance and excellent location.
Review 15:Limited staff resulted in long waiting times. Booked a room for 3 adults and got a pull out sofa bed with the most uncomfortable mattress. The hotel should ensure there are 3 proper beds if the room is designated for 3 adults
Review 16:Lot of character and very friendly staff
Review 17:- Parking far away even if a shuttle sends and picks you up
Review 18:- Location in the old city center - The Building itself with a lot of character - Employees at the recption - Breakfast
Review 19:Terrible parking set up... if you miss the location somehow which is easily possible you stuck in streets as narrow as a hotel bathroom and getting out of there is an adventure City is not really a must see, cultural minded people might see it differently
Review 20:Fantastic building, nice restaurant, staff helpful and nice
Review 21:Parking is a problem, only a few spaces outside hotel and the narrow roads and one way system in old town veery difficult to navigate, even with Sat Nav. A nightmare in a large car. There is a garage outside the old town that hotel uses as well. Book that in advance. Too far to carry bags but hotel has a minibus.
Review 22:Beautiful hotel with great food and setting and staff both excellent.
Review 23:Service wasn't excellent, as one would expect from a Parador. Parking was available, but difficult to access--perhaps not surprisingly.
Review 24:Excellent location in a untrammeled part of Spain with an intriguing medieval history.
Review 25:Due to its location in the middle of a historic town, it is really complicated to get to the hotel and even more so to park. But staff are very helpful and they take your car to a special garage.
Review 26:An amazing historic building in the middle of the Medieval city of Caceres. Excellent location, very helpful staff, good cuisine.
Review 27:Best stay we had - Historic building from 12th and 14th century, rooms were renovated only 2 or 3 years ago and are cosy, comfy and offer everything you need. Very nice indoor cafeteria offering cake and coffee during the day and also small bites in the evening. Staff was the friendliest we experienced on our whole trip and breakfast was one of the best we had in Spain in during our trip.
Review 28:We so enjoyed our stay at ca eras . The rooms were comfortable and clean. The restaurant was thoroughly delightful. We would recommend this stay to others.
Review 29:Wonderful parador in historic old town. The staff were extremely helpful in guiding us to the hotel. Assisted in parking and taking us to the room. Have a very pleasant stay.
Review 30:Not a comfortable hotel - beds are too hard and nowhere comfortable to sit either in your room or the hotel lounge. Restaurant rather expensive.
Review 31:Great location & old world ambience. Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food but quite expensive. Very good WiFi.
Review 32:Caceres is an ancient walled city with narrow streets and the somewhat hysterical comments about parking from previous guests are unfounded if you follow the yellow signs.
Review 33:Beautiful palace recently renovated, English speaking staff. Lovely room and bathroom. Free parking outside. Fab restaurant.
Review 34:A little more parking space would be helpful but we recognize that space is limited in these renaissance towns.
Review 35:All the amenities were modern but did not detract from the feeling of the old palace. Tasteful but not over-the-top.
Review 36:Easy to find with no problem parking behind hotel. Staff was very helpful. Set among the old buildings and churches of old town. Great dining location either inside or in garden.
Review 37:Reception was difficult.
Review 38:The location is excellent and the catering staff extremely helpful and pleasant
Review 39:Great to be in the centre of the old town, the evening meal was good and the breakfast too
Review 40:the hotel was situated right in the middle of the town, everything was literally minutes away.
Review 41:no comment
Review 42:Facility and personnel
Review 43:Bar area unwelcoming
Review 44:Lovely building
Review 45:Stunning location in heart of the old town. Very friendly staff.
Review 46:Parking a bit more tight
Review 47:Wonderful historic parador. Great staff. Excellent breakfast. Clean room
Review 48:Food, service. room and location
Review 49:fabulous old city
Review 50:Price slightly too high
Review 51:Cleanliness
Review 52:Very helpful, kind, good-humoured staff. Room well arranged and spacious. Quiet. Free parking! Hotel easy to find. Located in beautiful area.
Review 53:Once found lovely situation
Review 54:Food and ambience
Review 55:as old building, fiddly access
Review 56:right in centre of marvellous old town
Review 57:Wonderful experience, staff. Very helpful ,food great
Review 58:Difficult to find and park
Review 59:The peace, quiet and elegance
Review 60:Arrived 2.15 had to wait 15 minutes to be served only to be told the room was not ready. Got room at 3pm. It was booked for 2pm !
Review 61:Good breakfast
Review 62:The room was very disappointing.
Review 63:The staff were excellent and very helpful. Their restaurant recommendations were brilliant.
Review 64:No issues of any kind.
Review 65:Centrally located, staff could not have been more helpful and dinner/breakfast superb.
Review 66:The evening meal was of poor quality.
Review 67:We loved everything!!
Review 68:Need hot water/coffee makers in rooms. Also, dinners in all the Paradores are complete meals. Too much too eat.
Review 69:the ambience, the staff
Review 70:Wash basin inconvenient and Ridiculous
Review 71:Ancient monument
Review 72:Location on walled city and very modern bathroom
Review 73:Bedroom too dimly lit
Review 74:Bedrooms was large, and quiet bathroom excellent
Review 75:Wonderful hotel in a wonderful location
Review 76:Location and the attentive staff
Review 77:Right in the middle of the old town. Had free parking which is not the norm in much of Spain.
Review 78:A bit pricey
Review 79:Excellent breakfast in the patio Unrivaled location
Review 80:Dining room staff.
Review 81:The setting overall. The excellent room.
Review 82:Accessing the hotel within the city walls was a bit of a challenge, parking was OK as we arrived late afternoon but driving out to the main road the next day was very testing. A lot of stress that early in the morning.
Review 83:The hotel was beautifully refurbished and the room was very comfortable. The staff were great although the bar closed at 11.30 which was a bit early for me and Spain. I would recommend taking the hotel breakfast which is very nice but also there are no places open nearby.
Review 84:For a historic building I thought that a lot of the character had been taken from the interior
Review 85:The service provided by the staff at the hotel was fantastic. They couldn't do enough to help us. Great location for exploring historic Caceres and nearby towns.
Review 86:Extremely difficult to drive up to the hotel with very narrow tight streets. You have to close your car mirrors to go through. Watch for the barricade that controls car access to the old part of the city. Do not cross that barricade without explicitly pressing the button under the traffic light for your car or it can serious damage your car if it goes up while you are crossing it. Hotel layout inside is very confusing.
Review 87:Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Hotel is the old part of the city within walking distance. Excellent breakfast.
Review 88:The recent renovation has imposed a very modern decor on an old monastery in a densely built-up area. Having stayed at other Paradors, we much prefer those - like Alcaniz and Siguenza - where the character of the place is retained and enhanced as much as possible. Carceres lacks this, and also the superb views of the aforementioned - both looking and looking out. So it becomes a quality place to stay in an interesting town, but no more.
Review 89:Clean, comfortable, quiet and well-serviced hotel.
Review 90:Tricky to navigate in ancient walled cities. Wi fi weak in rooms due to thick castlevwalls. Excellent lounge areas accommodate this issue.
Review 91:Amazing stay in historic building. Great huge room, great view.
Review 92:We were given a twin room and advised that we had not and could not select what we would call a double room (i.e. a room with a double bed in it) using Booking.com. The receptionist was very brusque and unhelpful but went as far as showing us the website just to demonstrate that we couldn't have booked a double bed. Beware if you think you are getting a double bed. Finding the place in a car using GPS is a chore. Parking is very difficult nearby and they charge 19 Euros to use one of their spaces at the rear of the hotel.
Review 93:The internal decor is splendid and makes for an interesting place to wander around. The room was very comfortable with a large bathroom. The lady that showed us to our room was nice and friendly.
Review 94:Attitude of maitre'd was offhand. Although we spoke in fluent Spanish, he insisted in replying in English. This continued throughout the meal, which otherwise was fine.
Review 95:Excellent location. Very friendly and helpful reception staff.
Review 96:Marvellous, friendly staff, a great location right in the heart of this beautiful old town with its breathtaking buildings, the heart of Spain at its best.
Review 97:Rooms don't retain the historical aspect of the builxing
Review 98:Rooms are really nicely designed, although no flavourful of the old building is retained. The public spaces do have the historic feel. Very good breakfast spread.
Review 99:Decor a bit depressing, cafateria limited menu outside meal times, enclosed in a glass box within the old building felt a bit like an airport smoking area
Review 100:Nice Welcome lovely building great location
Review 101:The room was small with twin beds although we specifically requested a double bed. It was a rather common room, not one to be associated with the normal level of a Parador
Review 102:The hotel was well furnished - to be expected in a Parador.
Review 103:Hotel recently under gone a renovation program and was two castles knocked into one., First room offered was by lift and noisy. Sound from roof aerial also noisy. Stupid design of hand basin with no plug and no net curtains in bath room window. Bed blanket stained. Rooms in roof get very hot.
Review 104:Very comfortable and stylish hotel it was good to have a car park we did not eat on the restaurant in the evening however the breakfast was absolutely fantastic !
Review 105:Friendly and helpful staff. Spacious rooms. Located right in the amazing historical city. Delicious breakfast and fine dining. Caceres is a beautiful and safe small city, with very friendly people. Great hotel, great town. Would love to return
Review 106:New facilities installed, only just reopened. Staff is friendly despite limited English. Lovely food in their restaurant and breakfast buffet. Free parking at the back when its not peak season. You can ask the hotel to send you directions to the hotel if you plan on driving.
Review 107:Bar area was very stark and modern not at all in keeping with the hotel.
Review 108:Lovely hotel right in the heart of the medieval town. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was of good quality with lots of choice. We were able to park at the back of the hotel. Bathroom was large, modern and well appointed.
Review 109:Booking information needs clear explanation of how to find hotel and gain access to restricted areas of the town
Review 110:Excellent location good local cuisine in restaurant friendly staff and comfortable and roomy accomodation.
Review 111:Parking was limited and the fee-paying garage (expensive) was quite adistance away. Had to follow then return in minibus. Streets verynarrow. Approach to Parador through bollard-controlled street!
Review 112:Clean and comfortable. Excellent location for sight-seeing the area.Great position for a visit to the wonderful Atrio restaurant - 20metres up the road. Restaurant at the Parador was also very good.Breakfast was ok but not special. Staff friendly and helpful but notmuch English spoken.
Review 113:Outstanding in every way. Wonderful environment, accommodation and service. What made it special was the decor with fantastic attention to stylish detail.
Review 114:A wonderfully atmospheric luxury hotel in the heart of a picturesque medieval town...loved the combination of 14th-century splendor and modern luxury. Rooms were very comfortable (and quiet) and the parador's location allows you to walk to anywhere in the old town of Caceres in about ten minutes. My friend and I got a deal that included half-board, and we found the three-course dinners at the restaurant amazing--the marinated partridge salad and the sirloin of pork with cheese sauce were stand-out dishes, though everything we tried was excellent.
Review 115:unfortunately the evening meal did not come up to the same standards as the hotel but find this often with paradores
Review 116:beautifully designed interiors within an old building understated luxury with bags of style fabulous buffet breakfast with superb huevos fritos and jamon cocido on the bone
Review 117:Charge for parking
Review 118:First class Parador in the heart of historic area. Helpful staff and comfortable room.
Review 119:The staff were so helpful and of course the location
Review 120:The sign to turn left before arriving is not clear which turn exactly
Review 121:Having a parking place for free
