Reviews for mD Hotel Berg's Alte Bauernschänke

Review 1:Location is not in Rüdesheim itself. Required taking a train or taxi to get to the centre for the Christmas markets.

Review 2:Great room. Plenty of space and very clean.

Review 3:Very comfortable and well appointed rooms. We had a wonderful meal in the restaurant with excellent service. The atmosphere was really lovely and the staff most friendly. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Review 4:4 Couples with elderly. Using staircase. Hard to find way out unless near staircase, not so suitable for elderly.

Review 5:Nice old germany house but left house on photo is not belong to hotel.

Review 6:This hotel is not worth the price. We asked for quiet rooms and surprise we could hear the music from the street until at least 1am ! Other room are certainly better located, but even if asked, we did not get one like this. We really expected a quiet room for such expensive price. Indeed you can find much less expensive hotels near the railroad, and you will for sure be less disturbed by trains than by music and the church. Because at 7am, the bell rang (then every 15minutes) !! At 8 am, we thought it would never stop ringing. Conclusion: if you want to sleep well, avoid this hotel !! In addition, the personal is not sympathetic. During the breakfast, while we were still eating, waitresses were already getting us rid of stuff. In addition one strew aggressively thing inside the table bin meaning she was not happy we did not already do so ! Beds and pillows are not comfortable and could be changed. Impossible to park near the hotel, you have to drive until the public parking. My advise: find another location for your stay !

Review 7:The room is clean

Review 8:We realised that you can get there much more easily than instructed: from Rüdesheim take the B42 along the Rhine bank (towards Bonn). After Ehrenfels castle – high above – Assmannshausen is the first well signposted turning, and it’s a short distance from here.

Review 9:Good quiet village location in Assmannshausen near the Rhine

Review 10:Good location near to Rhine and within easy reach by cable car and walking of Denkmal and Ruddesheim. Quaint historic hotel, nice evening meal and good breakfast.

Review 11:THE STAFF especially HEIKE was absolutely fantastic! Very warm and welcoming and went out of her way to make sure we had a comfortable stay. The hotel is like staying at your grandma's manor! It's beautiful! Gorgeous hotel! 4min walk to the river with lots of restaurants. 3min walk to the train station. The area is perfect for anyone that wants to get in touch with nature! there is a cable car service 2mins from the hotel that takes you into town! amazing views!

Review 12:Limited parking if you arrive late. Wifi in and out.

Review 13:Historical building away from train line. Triple room offered some privacy. Helpful front desk especially re day tour on ferry. Consider buying tickets there rather than on board. Good selection for breakfast.

Review 14:Difficult to find as is at rear of town behind the DB railway tracks. Also your website lists it as in rudesheim but actually it is in Assmanshausen several KM along the Rhine!

Review 15:The ambience of the building and the excellent restaurant

Review 16:Nothing. Everything was to like.

Review 17:Nothing was lacking in staying at the Bauernschanke. It was pure delight in all respects: comfort, ease to walk around, fine example of old building restored.

Review 18:The bar emptying at 3am and then everyone standing laughing and shouting under my window for 30 mins. The church right next door ringing its bells at 7am every morning, including weekends. Lots of road noise N oaircon so it meant you had to have the windows open

Review 19:Lovely location Lovely room Great wifi Lovely breakfast Great food Lovely Staff

Review 20:The only thing I didn't like was listening the bells of the church at 7 am.. but that would happen in the whole village... so wasn't a problem of the hotel.

Review 21:Hotel was perfect. Room so big and confortable and clean. And so so nice... people was kind and breakfast so good. Such a good experience!

Review 22:Male waiters were indifferent. One bed was defective and noisy. No view. Parking 500m away, up hill. Building total electrical failure for a period. Noise from trains.

Review 23:Breakfast. Female staff helpful.

Review 24:They have a funny idea about the meaning of "Bauernbrot" in the restaurant (from a German point of view), because it's in reality only a normal multi-grain bread.

Review 25:Great location, very calm, good restaurant, good breakfast buffet

Review 26:Sorry, nothing bad!

Review 27:1. We were enthusiastically met at the front door and escorted to check-in and then helped to the elevator. 2. We had dinner in their lovely restaurant the first night and dessert and cocktails there the following evening; the food and presentation were superb! 3. All of the employees were friendly, helpful and courteous. 4. Both our room and bathroom were spacious and spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable. 5. The most attractive, half-timbered building dates back to 1408 and the decor is charming, the woodwork is most interesting, and especially don't miss seeing the wine press. 6. We liked it so much that we returned for a second night at the inn. 7. Excellent price for top-notch! 8. What more could you want?

Review 28:The beds were extremely uncomfortable. The mattresses were thin and hard and the pillows were almost nonexistent. The shower constantly switched between hot and cold, making for a very uncomfortable shower. The wi-fi was very spotty and it was difficult to connect at most times.

Review 29:Appearance wise, everything was very nice looking. The hotel's restaurant had a patio that was enjoyable for sitting outside and enjoying a meal and glass of wine. It was within walking distance to the Rhein and good restaurants. The drive to Rudesheim, where most of the tourist attractions are, was only a few minutes.

Review 30:We were hiking the Rheinsteig Trail. The location of this old hotel and restaurant is excellent for this purpose. The Building is old but the facilities are modern. Both dinner and breakfast were quite good as was the local wine.

Review 31:Our room overlooked the street and restaurant - with windows open, it was noisy into the early morning hours - could have been due to the World Cup going on.

Review 32:Great location in village on the Rhein River. Room was very nice, roomy, comfortable bed, large modern bathroom, great water pressure in shower!! Convenient parking and we were allowed to store our bicycles in a locked room in the hotel.

Review 33:Location. Your not stuck in the busy, tourist spot of rüdesheim. Assmannhausen was 7 min taxi ride away. Nice and quiet.

Review 34:There was no wi-fi available in room

Review 35:Accommodating staff, great breakfast and pleasant atmosphere

Review 36:positioned close to railway and seilbahn atmospheric and friendly

Review 37:the hotel arrangement

Review 38:Nice stay - no complaints.

Review 39:Staff super friendly and easy storage for my group of four's bikes. Food was good as well.

Review 40:Restaurant not so cheap Average daily room service

Review 41:Huge and silent room Comfortable bed Good breakfast Nice and comfortable toilette

Review 42:beds not comfortable, shower had cold water (idem for co-travellers)

Review 43:super location, good breakfast, friendly staff

Review 44:Beautiful room, and very nice restaurant. Quiet hotel with the charm of the romantic Rhein, managed by very pleasant peoples. I like this place!

Review 45:Nothing Everything was brilliant.

Review 46:We arrived later than expected and after the latest checking time, we were greeted with a friendly smile and the offer of a cold beer and a sandwich even though the restaurant and bar had closed for the evening. The staff were very friendly and hospitable.

Review 47:Really nothing wrong, few minor details, the room I was in was at end of hall, thus, was too far to connect wifi. No one was at check-in desk and had a sign that read, (if you can read German) you need to contact him in the restaurant.

Review 48:Nice clean comftable bed, good location, convient from the train station, right at drop off/on to the chair lift, friendly staff, nice breakfast.

Review 49:the only lttle glitch: watertemperature in the shower not realy easy to regulate... :-(

Review 50:very kind and helpfull team, a great place to be on the Rhine next to Rüdesheim, very touristic region

Review 51:impossible to connect to wi-fi wasn't always easy to get someone at the front desk foyer and lobby were very cramped

Review 52:gorgeous setting charming German fachwerk building beautiful views our loft suite was very spacious large restaurant for breakfast centrally located elevator full-service restaurant and bar attached across the street from the cable car friendly and accommodating front desk

Review 53:Our room was very noisy. We were in a triple located directly over therestaurant dj who kept up the tunes until 2:30 am. Not a good choice forlight sleepers.

Review 54:It's a charming place of old style German kitsch.

Review 55:The Atmosphere of the hotel and surroundings was perfect for the overseas guest we were entertaining. We were impressed with the way our room was changed without any fuss when we discovered the bed was too short for my tall husband

Review 56:It is too close to railway. So, it is quite noisy in the night when trying to sleep with open window.

Review 57:Very clean and cosy hotel with freandly staff. There is a nice German restaurant in the building. Nice place with nice views.

Review 58:The room pretty hot without air conditioning. Noise of church's bell.

Review 59:The staff was wonderful. The breakfast pretty nice. Parking free beside the hotel.

Review 60:Everything from the atmosphere, food, location, was perfect for family and exploring the Rhein. For a family of 3, being able to leave the car, they had tickets for the river cruise at a discount, gave us a lot of advice on how to get the most out of our stay, had a table for us every morning at the excellent included breakfast, and we ate dinner hear each night because it was perfect for our needs, and they have their own wines as well! If you are staying on the Rhein, then this place might very well be the best option you find. We stayed at 6 other hotels on our vacation trip and this one was by far the best.

Review 61:---too highly priced ---toilet bowl was in a different location, with no washing basin. Have to go back in to the living room and in to the bathroom area to wash your hands. ---had a separate wash basin for kids, but no soap that was reachable ---went down to the restaurant area to buy a bottle of water and the serving staff was drunk

Review 62:Nothing

Review 63:The rooms were very nice, especially the huge shower with plenty of hot water. The location was perfect for the Rhein river cruise the next day. Plenty of choices for breakfast. We were able to leave our car parked all day while we were out and about, even though we had already checked out of the hotel.

Review 64:Internet access is poore or none.

Review 65:Location close to Rhine-trip-ships warth and to many historical and nature attractions but not crowded. Friendly reception staff with good English level.

Review 66:Really nothing we didn't like!

Review 67:We love this hotel & always stay there when leaving from FRA Airport. It is right next to Rudesheim but not as many crouds of tourists & very convenient. Nice restaurant & outside patio dining as well. Our room was spacious this year & newly remodeled!

Review 68:It gave me the chance to relax and revisit memories from staying thereabout 20 years ago. There was an excellent breakfast buffet.therestaurant offers varied menu with excellent wines. Ready access to theRiver Rhein and the forest to go wandering.
