Reviews for Hotel Rheingarten
Review 1:We required 2 twin rooms for our party of 4. The pictures on the siteclearly show twin beds with separate quilts. However, after reservingthe 2 rooms we were informed on arrival that the rooms they had leftwere doubles only and the pictures shown were for guide purposes. Wehad no choice but to purchase an extra 2 rooms as we were tired andit was late. The following day on our forward journey, one of ourparty informed me that the room he had occupied contained twin beds! Not happy!
Review 2:A very comfortable hotel, and decent food. The room overlooked the Rhinewith a very good balcony view. Could not fault. However......
Review 3:There was everything, that belongs to German 4 stars hotel. I liked the view from the balcony the most - Ruhr and Rhein meeting point with the passing boats.
Review 4:The building itself; the neighbourhood; the room is small and stuffy.
Review 5:The 2 receptionsits were very nice - professional but welcoming; the breakfast; the free water and the tea/coffee in the room; the free wifi and parking.
Review 6:Long way from entertainment, city centre etc but this would not matter if you want a quiet retreat (as we did) to share each other's company.
Review 7:Architecture, free parking, outlook over the river, bed, breakfast, general atmosphere.
Review 8:No restaurant or bar in evening in hotel, therefore one has to look in the local area and here one meets a challenge. The local area (Homberg) has been a decent town centre in its day, but is now rundown. It is like so many medium sized towns in Northern England which used to be vibrant centres but which are now full of takeaway outlets and are lacking in facilities such as good restaurants and bars. The one good restaurant recommended by the hotel was closed (on a Saturday evening). Even though it is a bit run-down, the local area to the hotel is OK and feels safe. It has the classic unplanned Ruhr area mix of housing and heavy industry and is redeemed by the River. The lack of decent eating places within walking distance of the hotel is the biggest negative issue.
Review 9:Nice, comfortable and well-run hotel. Excellent staff. Quiet. comfortable and spacious rooms. Hotel is quite handy for motorway network. Good views over busy River.
Review 10:Hotel 2km out of town. Buses available.
Review 11:Room good size. Location in decent suburb . Hotel right on banks of rhine with a winderful view of the entrances to all the harbours. Lts of industrial architecture on the door step.
Review 12:Ugly building from outside. Had to keep window closed during night due to noise from barges passing, so room was hot and stuffy. Bar was poorly stocked, dinner was fair but breakfast was dismal.
Review 13:Room was clean and functional although shower gel dispenser was empty. View over river was good.
Review 14:This is a difficult one to call... I would love to stay here again, it is a lovely hotel; the one Lassie who was working the evening/night we stayed was a gem; she ran reception, the bar and waitressed. She done this with a smooth unhurried efficiency and a smile. I hope they are paying that girl a b----y good wage. If you're a smoker who doesn't mind a few slamming doors or a bit of early hours raised voices then go for it. If however you hate both, stick to Mon-Fri in winter. I believe this to be the curse of the modern hotel. Ask for a room on the top floor away from any organised parties. but ask for a river view. As a general summery you wont be disappointed.
Review 15:HiI have travelled extensively through Europe, staying in old hotels, new hotels, guest houses and city pubs and I like to give a truthful account of my stay be it a day, a week, or longer. My wife and I stayed in the Rheingaten only one night, but I hope my assessment of the hotel is of value.Welcome at the hotel - 10/10. Lovely greeting; most helpful reception, happy smiling and unflustered.Room - Lovely, spotlessly clean with mini bar and coffee/tea making facilities. Also a lovely clean and complete bathroom.Balcony looking out over the Rhein/Rhur river convergence. the most fantastic view. 10/10Bar, dining and food - Fantastic, lovely dining room with balcony overlooking the rivers. lovely bar - spotless. The food both evening and breakfast was faultlessly gorgeous. quiet, relaxed and presented in a way only the Germans know how. 10/10.checkout and departure once again polite helpful and efficient. Smiling staff who all spoke English 10/10.But... (there is always a 'but') they were the positives; we must however move on to the not so good points which will not bother everyone but will bother some. The Rheingarten is a modern concrete shell hotel; noise travels through this type of structure like you wouldn't believe. (I know, I'm a structural engineer). We were woken at two in the morning by the most horrendous noise of people returning to their rooms from a wedding party. The noise just reverberates through the structure. There is a lack of fire doors, or just any doors in the corridors to prevent this spread of noise. Not only does it travel along corridors but from floor to floor like running water. There is no air conditioning which means you must leave the door to the balcony open otherwise you just boil.

Review 32:A bit out of the town centre
Review 33:Staff v friendly and excellent facilities - great value for money
Review 34:Cost effective. Next to Rhine with views from room.
Review 35:The weeds! Window boxes on terrace were spoilt by weeds in the paving, as was the car park area. The flower beds on the road side were fine, but the view from the balcony was onto rough grass. Rheingarten should be just that!
Review 36:Beautifully refurbished hotel, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Peaceful location, river view. Well presented and stocked breakfast buffet.
Review 37:tv sets a bit small
Review 38:this is a stunning hotel, from the politeness and professionalism of the staff to the breakfast which was included in he price to the view on the balcony with the Rhine. A true 4 star hotel in a gorgeous area.
Review 39:Very nice and super efficient staff. The hotel is a bit remote from Duisburg but the view on the Rhine is gorgeous. The rooms are extremely comfortable and clean. Do not spread this info too much because the hotel will be fully booked next time you want to go :-). Bring your bike to start a tour in the Industry culture of the Ruhr area from the hotel Rheingarten.

Review 44:I had everything I needed, the room was very comfortable, wifi worked very well. There was a lot of parking space near the hotel. Staff were extremely helpful, they helped me get a fresh flower for a meeting I had the next morning. Breakfast was fantastic, and the view on the rivers Rhein and Ruhr is really nice.
Review 45:The internet connection was very slow and/or didn't work from time to time which was a little annoying if you want to work in your room.

Review 47:Small details of a not finished renovation in the bathroom.
Review 48:Nice location in front of the Rhine with a Balcony. Small private parking in front of the entrance. Very polite staff.
Review 49:The staff at times were less then friendly and our room was not very clean. Hair on covers and toilet and clipped fingernails on the carpet.
Review 50:The location of the Hotel is right on the Rhine River, our room looked out onto it, very lovely.
Review 51:Wonderful position on the Rhine if you enjoy watching very busy river traffic. Very comfortable and newly refurbished. Excellent service. Great place to use as a stopover after crossing the channel if travelling east on A40
Review 52:Rather remote from any attractions (except the river), smoking seems to be permitted in much of the hotel except the restaurant.
