Reviews for Hotel Zum Bären
Review 1:Parking space was infront of the hotel enterance. Famous Drosselgasse & Weihnachtsmarkt are 5 minutes walk. Ralph & christina were very friendly & kind. Shall come back again.
Review 2:Lovely hotel only a couple of blocks from the main area of town, so extremely quiet and peaceful at night. We stayed here because our KD Rhein tour departed from this area, and the walk to the dock from the hotel was less than 1p minutes away. This is a small inn with an amazingly friendly and helpful staff. Public areas are clean, they reserve breakfast tables for their guests by writing your last name on a china plate at the table - lovely! All German beds seem a bit firm for my taste but I still slept great. Rooms are confortable and spotless - free WIFI, parking available, comfortable bed, would definitely stay here again.
Review 3:Excellent location in the old town and a short walk to restaurants and the vineyards. The staff is outstanding and breakfast was perfect. It's an older hotel but modernized and I'd definitely go back.
Review 4:Unfortunately, the hotel's wi-fi connection was intermittent ie non-functional more frequently than functional.
Review 5:Excellent reception and breakfast staff who offered prompt and helpful responses. Quite, spotless and comfortable accommodation with facilities. On-site parking for a small daily fee. Very convenient location for us. Generous buffet breakfast for a daily charge would suit a wide variety of clientele.
Review 6:We don't understand why the beds in Germany are divided into two small ones. Not really this particular hotel's fault.
Review 7:The location is in a quiet area close to most tourist attractions, and the room is good sized that most everything a traveller needs. Very clean.
Review 8:Limited parking, but some public spaces outside the hotel. Some difficulties with the wi-fi but these were resolved when the owner was at the reception and he allowed us to use his personal wi-fi router rather than the hotel guest system.
Review 9:Good location, easy walk into town
Review 10:The wifi didn't work but they were trying to fix it and we really didn't miss it for a few days.
Review 11:A charming guest house in the heart of Rudesheim. No a/c but fans were helpful and the evenings were cool. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We requested Rudesheim Kaffee for an afternoon and we were delighted as our host made the coffee at our table for our group. Just ask in advance for this. They serve a very nice breakfast buffet.
Review 12:Wifi didn't work in the room but was fine downstairs.
Review 13:Well situated hotel in a quiet area but still close to everything. Well kept and comfortable hotel with pleasant and helpful owner and staff. Very good breakfast.
Review 14:No fridge in room, poor WiFi signal and most important: The outsidealuminium louvers too noisy. Every wave of Wind .. And one more thing:On Booking.com the property show 4 star, but în fact, it have 3 star.Maybe somebody will fix that.
Review 15:Location, cleanliness, friendly owners.
Review 16:Wanted bottom floor, as I was recovering from an illness.
Review 17:Good Communication, friendly staff, very good humoured. Very clean and comfortable. Excellent food, plenty of it. Good Atmosphere
Review 18:None
Review 19:The boss and staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is near the famous Drosselgasse, the downtwon area and the bank of Rhein River, convenient but very quite.
Review 20:can't think of a single thing.
Review 21:everything! Friendly helpful staff, facilities, the elevator parking garage, the refrigerated wine case for guests to use ( honor system!!), the elevator to rooms, location in old town, entire area is easily walkable (even for knee-damaged wife!), helpful restaurant suggestions, helpful ticket advice for Rhine River Gorge castle cruise.
Review 22:The hotel is attractively decorated and in a quiet convenient location. There was a good choice at breakfast and the staff were always pleasant and ready to help.
Review 23:Location and extremely friendly staff. A good breakfast. I don't like single beds and I can't get used to it, but that's the way in Europe. Besides this, a very good hotel
Review 24:No washcloths. Not a full/queen bed-2 twin mattresses pushed together. Was told parking would only be 5 euro when in fact it was 7 euro.
Review 25:Nice breakfast selections with both hot and cold items.
Review 26:You had to login to wifi every time you wanted to go onto the internet.
Review 27:We thought this was a lovely little hotel. Location was in a very nice spot. Close to everything but nice and quiet. They treated us very well. Good breakfast.
Review 28:Perhaps we had the worst room in the hotel as our experience doesn't match up with many other travelers. The bedroom was tiny and stuffy. The bathroom was very compact. The bed was hard and the pillows completely flat. The safe costs 1 euro each time you use it.
Review 29:This hotel was in a quiet part of town. The staff were nice and breakfast wasn't bad. We stayed in room 15 on level 1.
Review 30:Within a couple of minutes walk of town centre. Parking was available for a small fee. Staff very helpful, arrived mid morning and our room was ready.
Review 31:No restaurant or normal bar facilities in hotel.
Review 32:Very friendly staff who gave very good restaurant recommendations for evening eating. Parking at hotel is very limited but it is only a few minutes from a large car park.
Review 33:I needed to borrow an iron but sadly they didn't have one' had to go out creased' a minor issue but one that could be fixed easily
Review 34:Location' facilities' helpful staff'' everything!
Review 35:The room was small, very hot with only a small fan, wifi was not working, elevator was loud (room next to elevator), no one is working the reception desk after 7:00 pm to help with issues. Left early, asked for refund for unused night, was told I got the room at a discounted price. The owner did not charge me for breakfast 5 euros and gave me a bottle of wine for compensation. I don't drink! Not great. A refund for the night would have made me happy - owner unwilling.
Review 36:All round excellent
Review 37:Friendly staff, great location for Christmas Market and restaurants.
Review 38:Excellent hotel situated in an ideal location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Review 50:A fantastic hotel in all aspects: Location, cleanliness, staff, amenities...... I will be back.
Review 51:Very limited on site parking
Review 52:Central location friendly staff good breakfast
Review 53:very cramped room no bath in our room
Review 54:location staff helpfulness oldie worldie but with 'mod cons' good breakfast selection
Review 55:Breakfast. Cleanliness. Quiet (not near the tracks).
Review 56:wifi and Tv medium quality
Review 57:staff very friendly Cleanliness Location Quality of sleep modern bathroom EXCELLENT BREAKFAST
Review 58:Wifi only available on the ground floor. No singal in the room. And there's no refrigerator & teapot.
Review 59:Good location, 5 min walk to the centre town. Breakfast is pretty good.
Review 60:Extended our stay to 2 nights, didn't like to leave!
Review 61:On a European tour visiting 7 countries, by far the best value for money and breakfast fantastic!
Review 62:The WiFi was quite variable. And just be sure to pre-arrange a post-7pm check-in code (easy to do though).
Review 63:Superb family run hotel. Really an excellent place to stay. On the pleasant quiet side of Ruedesheim and two minutes to be walking in the vineyards. Ten minute walk to the station and regular trains up to Wiesbaden.
Review 64:The pillows are not very comfortable, even with two!
Review 65:Staff are excellent and nothing too much for them. Bedrooms are clean and comfortable and location is great.
Review 66:We had trouble with the wifi connection and the front desk staff couldnot help us.Parking was at a public parking lot, and we had to pay the regular parking charges.
Review 67:Our room was spacious and the bathroom was large. We had ample closetspace. Located on a small street, it was quiet during the night. We didnot have breakfast at the hotel, so not sure about the breakfast.
Review 68:The owner of the hotel was very friendly and helpful and her hospitality was outstanding. The location was great, only a few minutes walk to all the restaurants on the Drosselgasse. There was a great car park just around the corner from the hotel which was only 5 Euro per day and there were plenty of car spaces. The breakfast was absolutely fabulous each morning and was only 5 Euro per person, definitely worth eating within the hotel. We had a very good experience in this hotel and would go back again.
Review 69:Wonderful location for the Rudesheim Winefest, 5 min walk around the corner from the town square but far enough for some peace an quiet. Staff are super friendly and the breakfast is a plentiful help-yourself affair with scrambled eggs and toast too. I did think however that for the price we paid it should have included the breakfast (€5 pp pd) but I guess it's a way of reducing the cost for others who don't want breakfast at the hotel. Excellent walking area through the vineyards - no need for serious trekking gear. If it's still warm, take water, a hat and sun tan lotion - there's literally no shade until you get to the one or two restaurants located towards the top.
Review 70:Breakfast was overhyped in some reviews. We found it to be a very basic breakfast, but better than nothing. The slats on the bathroom window blinds were bent and broken as we discovered on pulling back the curtain. This meant we could not draw the curtain back, which made the bathroom a bit dark. The tiling on the bathroom floor was loose and wobbly in places.
Review 71:The hotel was close to all amenities, everywhere was within easy walking distance. The room was quite large. The staff were pleasant.
Review 72:The internet connection did not work. The rooms do not have airconditioner. The towels were frayed. The room decor is very dated. Thelocation is up the hill away from the train station and other shops& restaurants.
Review 73:Nothing. We were there when it was very hot (30C+) and a fan or better still air-con would have been a real plus but in all our previous visits to Germany this was the hottest we have experienced.
Review 74:Despite being in a town popular with tourists that has a busy railway line the hotel is in a quiet location but is still within a few minutes walking distance of the main square with all the restaurants and bars. It is also close to the departure points for the river cruises. The main rooms have lovely decor. Our room was modern, stylish, spacious with a super wet-room that has up-market fittings. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and were pleased to give information on local sightseeing and shopping. Super breakfast for 5 euros.
Review 75:The internet connection did not work. The rooms don't have airconditioner, although we only needed it one night that was very warm.
Review 76:The hotel gives a personalized service that is hard to find anymore.Loved the owner/employees, extremely helpful, always smiling and hadexcellent suggestions for us to do as a family. The bed was verycomfortable, the bathroom was large. The breakfast was wonderful. Thelocation was great.
Review 77:Very beautiful rooms, staff were wonderful. Great location and they have a few parking places next to the hotel if you reserve early. Breakfast was great. Best part, it was quiet, no trains or ferry boats like most other places near by.
Review 78:Nothing
Review 79:Rhein Valley is a great place to visit and the hotel Zum Baren was agood choice of hotel. Everything was spot on. Brilliant breakfast foronly 5 euros. How do they do it?
Review 80:Felt like we got nickle & dimed for everything...parking extra, baby cotextra, breakfast extra. We have stayed at a nicer place in town that wasless expensive and did not charge for all those things.
Review 81:Staff was very nice.
Review 82:Very well run with friendly and alert staff. Excellent location in Rudesheim , and superb breakfasts. Definitely a great place to stay. Our stay was for 5 days and more than enough to do every day.
Review 83:Paying €1 for the Safety box in the room, everytime you wanted to lockit. This should be a free service, if such facility is available.
Review 84:Friendly,helpful, staff. Very comfortable room.
Review 85:The decor/furnishings are a bit dated - especially the bathrooms (butall very clean). Ruedesheim itself is very tourist trappy - wouldrecommend staying in a different town along the river and coming for aday trip visit.
Review 86:Clean room and hotel, very friendly, helpful and attentive staff, goodpower shower, location within Ruedesheim was good as it was close to allthe attractions but not too close to be noisy.
Review 87:The location is a little bit far from the main station, but it's acceptable.
Review 88:The staff is really nice and friendly. The breakfast there is super delicious, totally worth of 5 euros, highly recommended! The room is really clean and big, wifi also works well everywhere in the hotel. Very nice experience of staying!
Review 89:Very friendly staff very clean hotel. Spacious rooms Hotel has a lift and far enough away from railway line not to hear trains. Departure for cruise boats along Rhine visiting villages along way and cable car to chairlift all close by. Central to many restaurants Rathaus being Recommended by hotel was great. Breakfast for 5 euros Per person is excellent.

Review 111:kussens op het bed zijn niet dik genoeg
Review 112:Ruime, schone kamer, modern ingericht, prima ontbijt, vriendelijke mensen
Review 113:Hotel staff were very kind and friendly. Good location for main street and Rhein river cruise.
Review 114:No evening bar to have a drink
Review 115:Great location, lovely helpful staff. If your looking for a peaceful hotel it's ideal as quite small but peaceful.
Review 116:Exellent location . Quiet surrounding but close to the center. Good breakfast.
