Review 1：First we had very poor studio facing the carpark, no sun, very noisy all hours.

Review 2：Good breakfast. Good garden. When we asked for a better room, they got us really nice studio facing the pool.

Review 3：I and everyone really enjoyed their stay the Santa Maria and would definitely want to stay there again. On arrival we were made very welcome by staff on the front desk and the reception area had a lovely relaxed and friendly feel about it. We also found the food to be really good and had a great variety of choice and the staff in this area was really welcoming, happy and helpful.

Review 4：The one Bed Apt for two adults that we booked with booking.com was not the one we were allotted we did get a one bed apt the Furniture was outdated the chairs we sat on were from the balcony because you could not sit on the settee provided and the Bed was Rock hard the Apt left a lot to be Desired,I would give the Apt minus star.

Review 6：There was a unique atmosphere of trying to cash in from the very first "Hi" and a request to pay for a stay in advance at the reception to the last days of our visit... Be aware of extra charges! as the hotel charges you extra for (nearly) everything: for a glass of water (!!!) at prepaid ("Half board is included") dinner (don't event dare to dream about a glass of vine for yourselves, or coca-cola for your children), 8€ for parking place (despite the fact that they do have own garage and the fact that in 15 minutes walking distance there is a possibility to park a car free of charge at public places), for safe-deposit, for Internet (2€ for 10 min.), for tennis-court (5€/hour // 2 racket 6€) which is totally empty morning, noon, and night. There is no air conditioner in the room, stale air and laud mix of dowdy music from outside bars just killing the efforts to have a rest. The hotel boasts of its swimming pool (you saw pictures already for surely). But there is no possibility to get a sun bed as they all are 'reserved' (by leaving towels) for all day long by guest in the early morning when they pass to the dinning hall to have breakfast. In short, please don't waist your time and money, don't spoil your holidays staying at this hotel if you come and have chance to pick the hotel on your own. "Score of this hotel 7.7 from 210 reviews"?!? There are much, much better hotels (and locations!) in the wonderful island for the similar price range! We will be happy to never ever come back to Hovima Santa María hotel. Save us!

Review 7：The reception man manage to print a car rental confirmation voucher for free of charge (oh what a surprise! / ¡qué sorpresa!). Appropriate food for such a crowded place. A young Russian girl from a reception differently than the other people from the staff was polite and helpful. The values of the hotel is openly declared from the very first encounter with a man from a reception, they were not written or spoken but performed: "Money we care about, but not you" and their "dear guests" was just a teasing statement to the tourists who accidentally came to spend their holidays in that unwelcome place.

Review 8：there wasnt enough sun loungers or umbrellas around the pool areas,and our room was very hot as it didnt have air con only a ceiling fan and a fridge that was very noisy and it didnt keep anything cold.

Review 46：Offers poor value for money, in terms of service: (a) Wi Fi access is paid, and is extremely slow (b) Our bathroom flush was not working well and smelled bad (c) Rooms were small (we were in a suite); (d) one of the electrical sockets came off when removing our adapter (e) the water connection stopped once completely, and apparently others in the hotel experienced this too. The water was brown for several times when we opened the taps.

Review 88：The hotel is close to the beach, to restaurants and shops. We got a bigger room than the booked one which was a pleasant surprise. The apartment was very clean and the view from the balcony was beautiful. In addition the receptionists were very helpful; we also managed to print our boarding passes there. At last the breakfast was good, too. All in all we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 103：We stayed in Santa Maria for 1 week and we liked the place very much. Friednly staff, clean rooms, very nice swimming pool, a lot of facilities. There was weekly program in hotel (live music, some sport activities in the morning etc.). We like to play pool so we appreciated pool tables even outside, next to pool and also tennis court :-) Breakfast was very tasty with a big offer - everyone would find something for eating. We had room on 3rd floor with sea view - very nice. From the hotel it´s less then 5 minutes to playa, location was perfect.

Free internet in reception didn't work either. Reception staff didn't come across as being very friendly. Very limited kitchen equipment in studio, only 2 of everything, no bowls for cereal and one ladel, bread knife, one saucepan and a sieve. Not sufficient to even make a simple meal. Car Park - you had to get key fob from reception to open gate and then barrier and return it after you had put your car in and vice versa.

There was a clear signplaced at reception stating ''no reservations onsunbeds/umbrellas'' there were even bins to place towels inif they are placed on a sunbed which are not in use. I think this is afair rule as its unfair and fraustrating when someone has placed a towelon a sunbed which is not being used. For the people that actually wantto use a sunbed there is none left.I decided I wanted to sit around the pool with my family one day in the shade due to sun burn. Although there was no umbrellas spare they were all placed by peoples sun beds (some were placed by empty beds). I noticed there was a bed which had not been attented to for 2 hours + so i strolled along and used the umbrella which was next to it. 30 minutes later a german man approached me in a very aggressive and violent mannor. i tried explaining the rule of reservation in a very calm way and explained how he had not been using it for 2 hours. he continued to shout, make a scene and make me feel very unconfortable and embarressed, he took the umbrella. At this point I felt this was very unfair im trying to have an enjoyable holiday not have to put up with a man being rude and shouting in my face. I decided to complain and explain the situation to the reception lady. she went to the pool area to explain the 'no reservation' rule. he continued to act very agressive and would not give the umbrella back. The reception lady looked affraid herself and told us he didnt understand. She got us a new umbrella whilst all the germans bickered and laughed at me and my family.From that day on my nan and grandad felt unconfertable and did not attend the pool area for the whole holiday due to this descusting and rude behaviour. For the whole holiday being around the bunch of germans which witnessed this scene, I felt they were very intimidating and I could honstly say they ruined my holiday to a certain extent.

It was only a5 minute walk from the beach and resturaunts and shops were just outsidethe hotel. My room was cleaned every day. Receptionest were alwayssmiley and made me feel welcome.
