Reviews for Parador de Benicarló
Review 1:As out of season..it was not possible to access the beach from the hotel and we had to go around the outside. A seventies style property...but in it's own way rather delightful.
Review 2:Well positioned near other sites we wanted to visit. By the sea.
Review 3:(1) The major drawback of the hotel location is closeness to the chemical plant located between the Benicarlo railway station and the town. Unpleasant turpentine-like smell comes from this plant usually in late evening and sometimes persists until morning. (2) Some days the waste was not taken away from the bathroom by the maid.
Review 4:Vast and well-maintained garden territory surrounding the hotel. Spacious room, bathroom, and balcony. Calm and relaxing atmosphere.
Review 5:When we arrived at reception staff were unfriendly, unwelcoming and disinterested. Nothing was explained as to the hotel. Disappointing attitude after an exhausting days travel. Room was tired and needed updating.
Review 6:Location and parking were good. Mostly on one level.
Review 7:At the time of our stay (July 2015) work was being carried out on the beach front paseo/promenade. No access to beach from garden gate and, at times, the work was loud and dusty.
Review 8:Location - beside a typical small Spanish beach. Gardens and pool with plenty of shade. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 9:The whole place, room ,grounds, pool, staff and food. Highly recommend this hotel. We went from France to Spain for a weekend and it was vey relaxing.
Review 10:Slow to replace soap in bathroom; no table tennis (ping pong) facilities at the parador. Beds rather uncomfortable -- two singles pushed together.
Review 11:Luxurious bathroom; large balcony; lovely gardens with big swimming pool; great location near to town, shops & restaurants. Excellent reception helped greatly when hire car punctured tyre needed repairing.
Review 12:I cant think of a single thing.
Review 13:This hotel is a tranquil oasis contrary to other touristic establishments. The choice of menu and quality of meals is extremely good value for money.
Review 14:Kitchen quality inconsistent. Staff rather inflexible. Benicarlo itself offers nothing of great interest.
Review 15:Super pool and gardens with an especially friendly pool guard. Dinner could be very good. Quiet room with excellent sea view
Review 16:The fact that we had too short a time here.
Review 17:This was like Shangri-La. Being surrounded by greenery after many city overnights was just what we needed. The natural setting is really quiet. We were visited by a wonderful little gecko, watched cattle grazing in the distance, and even saw a unicorn. Actually it was a white horse but I expected a unicorn.
Review 18:Your room may be a considerable distance from reception. Restaurant good but no atmosphere.
Review 19:Secure convenient car parking. High room standard. Good, but unsecured Wi Fi. Very attractive gardens. Close to beach, but also close to Mercadona and Lidl.
Review 20:a good base to visit other places.
Review 21:Breakfast was very good, lots of choice. Good location. Secure parking.
Review 22:Close to the beach
Review 23:Not a lot & benicarlo must be the dreariest resort in Spain.
Review 24:Town was very uninspiring.
Review 25:Modern clean Parador. Right by the beach. Food good.
Review 26:Great location and lovely building and grounds.
Review 27:July 2015 access beach front limited by works on promenade
Review 28:Pool was excellent, buffet dinner delicious

Review 32:Nothing
Review 33:every thing
Review 34:No hot water for morning shower. No vegetables with evening meal, only half a dozen chips.
Review 35:location on the coast.
Review 36:Dinner in the restaurant was very good, much better than before.
Review 37:Lovely Parador design and efficient service. Near enough to the port for a trip to see the coast (4 minute stroll).
Review 38:Bed was too soft.
Review 39:Location and facilities
Review 40:very slow waiter service in bar-lounge
Review 41:not much
Review 42:nothing
Review 43:Old Style hospitality with a friendly staff who really try to communicate although english is not a standard second lanquage. Great outdoor terace for long summer nights. Breakfast is excellent in choice and quality. Feasible for a stay longer than one night (which we unfortunately did).
Review 44:Bathrooms could use some maintenance. Annoying things like shower head wouldn't spray, just a sort of gush. Shower head was difficult to get to stay fixed in a high position.
Review 45:Secure on site parking. A high quality hotel restaurant with excellent regional food. Prices seemed high at first, but actually compared favourably with other good restos in the area. A breakfast buffet that included bacon and eggs. Good high speed wifi, though not secure. A true 4 star experience
Review 46:The town of Benicarlo is nothing to write home about. The Parador is just across from Lidl and Mercadona. Furniture in our room was cheap, battered yellow pine. Staff levels were insufficient - had to wait ages for a drink in the lounge in the evening and at breakfast most of the tables were left piled with dirty plates. This is not a classy Parador by any standard. Gardens needed work.
Review 47:Clean; Good swimming pool; Nice lounge; Free on site parking
Review 48:My sheet and curtain had a dried blood stain Wi-fi never worked anywhere: room, lounge, reception Staff: Never helpful Location: Horrible, Benicarló is awful Historical Building: None existent, the building is modern, nothing like a typical "Parador" Pool closed too early
Review 49:The Lounge Bar The sun chairs available in the garden 5 minutes to Peñiscola
Review 50:There is no bad things. Compare to other paradors, this is more normal and simple hotel. Not castle. Not old heritage.
Review 51:It is good place if you would like to be just relax and to avoid noisy. It is located near the beautiful Mediterranean beach. All staff was so nice.
Review 52:As with many Paradores it is tired, dated, expensive for what it is, food/dining room pretentious and poor in quality. Plenty of staff but none seem to be well trained. Typical of government run departments.
Review 53:On site parking, location by the beach. Staff friendly
Review 54:Restaurant opened too late for us in the evening and there was no other option for food. The beds were too firm for us.
Review 55:The common areas of the hotel were spacious and comfortable with lots of areas to sit and relax. There was a tennis court which we used. Breakfast although on the expensive side was excellent.
Review 56:We had dinner in the restaurant which was rather disappointing. The service was very slow mainly because there was not enough staff to cover a quite busy night and the menu was not very exciting. It certainly didn't live up to the usual reputation of other Paradors.we have visited
Review 57:This Parador is set in lovely gardens, very close to the beach. There is a good pool with sunbeds and towels. our room was comfortable with a good bathroom , the terrace overlooked the gardens and mini golf course and it was very quiet and peaceful. The Parador itself is of modern design with very well furnished public rooms and a wide terrace with comfortable chairs and sofas. We made good use of these areas as a pleasant and attractive place for reading during the day and pre-dinner drinks in the evening. Overall this was very good value for money because we had a special deal well below the usual room rates. There was a wide variety of hot and cold food available for breakfast which costs extra.
Review 58:The airco has not been turned on before our arrival. Thus we were at the beginning of october the weather was unusually Hot.The room did not have time to cool a bit before bedtime / The aircooling system was not working properly; Not happy at all that the room was hot since I choose in purpose a room with airco
Review 59:Spacious and clean rooms.
Review 60:Benicarlo itself is not quaint or charming but it's a short drive toVinaros, which is a bit more attractive, or to Peniscola, which is verytouristy. Hotel buffet meals are lavish but pricey.
Review 61:Location is great, right by one of the beaches. Air-conditioned. Freeparking. Quiet at night even at peak of tourist season. Nice swimmingpool and grounds. Also right across the street from a supermarket.
Review 62:If someone is expecting a typical Parador building/location then they will be disappointed.
Review 63:The room was spacious, clean and tidy. The bed and bathroom/shower were also good. The layout and general maintenance of the garden and pool were also good. The pool is also a decent size, about 25m with free towels and a life guard. The building itself is not a typical 'Parador' building nor is it's location. However the price reflects that. We did not try the restaurant.
Review 64:Staff were like the old Parador staff of years ago...state owned post office with no incentive to please. Bars not staffed, glasses all over dirty tables, etc etc.
Review 65:Location and private parking. Plus new Arroceria restaurant just opened in pool area was excellent.
Review 66:Perhaps because of the location, the hotel clientele is predominantly retired. The hotel is also slightly aged, but is still in great shape.
Review 67:Great location right on the beach, free car-parking, nice spacious rooms, lush green grounds, English speaking staff with helpful recommendations.
Review 68:Balcony table broken. Hotel ideal for families. As a mature couple, we found it a little noisy over the weekend.
Review 69:Good parking facilities. Excellant price for a parador. Large room with private balcony
Review 70:We were there in January, not an Ideal time of year for that particular Paradore. We thought it looked like beach chalets from the outside, and considering there are160 rooms,we walked the length of two corridors to get to ours, when we asked to change for one closer to reception, they couldn't accommodate and not very politely either. We will still use the Paradores that we like and have character, but certainly not the Benicarlo one. More suitable for a beach holiday......
Review 71:As an overnight stop it was fine, easy to get to, good parking. was everything you would expect from the Paradores standards.
Review 72:The drive through from the north to the parador was a bit grim and the town didnt have much to offer. The food in the hotel was good if expensive. If you drive 10mins to the next bay this has a far more attractive beach
Review 73:After spending a week on the road we found Parador Benicarlo a relaxing place to re charge our batteries. The pool and garden were excellent.and plenty of quiet places to relax.
Review 74:Old style Keys instead of like "Credit card"
Review 75:Nice calm place for relaxation. Nice gardens and pool. Close to beach, small harbour
Review 76:Very confortabile hotel. Quiet, room, staff and services. In a word: FANTASTIC
Review 77:very comfortable stay....parking on site is a plus. charming old style very spacious common areas. beach nearby and grounds are beautiful.
Review 78:Very noisy cleaners every morning. Very tatty furnishings and bathroom fitment. Ths is not a 4star. Maybe a 2star only
Review 79:Location
Review 80:Quality of food not fantastic
Review 81:Lovely location on the beach and beautiful gardens
Review 82:Cost
Review 83:mal limpiadas las habitaciones
Review 84:Confort, surrounding, food.
Review 85:Lacked character
Review 86:Good Location - not far from motorway and right on the beach. Staff were very accommodating and helpful. Nice gardens.
Review 87:Late start of the breakfast buffet. Limited WiFi connection in the room
Review 88:It was excellent and the staff were friendly and very obliging.
Review 89:Wifi was not available in rooms distant from the man reception area. Had been advertised as wifi in all rooms.
Review 90:Staff very helpful and friendly
