Reviews for Gran Hotel del Sella

Review 1:Restaurant staff - slow (waited 30 min at restaurant one evening only to be told later that it was not opened) - reception later apologised for misunderstanding. Decor / style is a bit dated

Review 2:Location and beautiful restaurant view Pool area and pool with salted water Reception staff - helpful and welcoming Good breakfast buffet - good variety and quality Free parking on site Comfortable bed

Review 3:Superb location and very helpful staff, who went out of their way to ensure we had an early breakfast available before our journey back to the airport.

Review 4:Pool wing room decor and sanitary ware rather dated and tired. Shower water was tepid at 8.30 am. Dangerous step up into bathroom. Wifi only in public areas.

Review 5:The small pool wing had a nice river view. Hotel main building is beautiful 20th century grand summer home of a Spanish noble family. Sits in a privileged position with easy access to promenade and beach. Fantastic views from the dining room. Staff were helpful. Resort is genteel with older couples and some families. Interesting to see where some Spanish go for cool weather, calm holidays.

Review 6:Room was advertised at a special on booking.com but when we checked out we had to pay the normal rate. The hotel would not honour the reduced rate. Very disappointed.

Review 7:Loved the location and the lovely views from our bedroom over looking the seaz

Review 8:The outside pool is in a lovely setting, but unsurprisingly is very cold!!

Review 9:The location & cleanliness. We especially enjoyed the spa which had not really been advertised as so special (at least not to English guests!). For 10 Euros there was a large pool, with massage jets, 2 Jacuzzis, sauna, steam room and 6 ceramic heated loungers. Often there were only 6 or 7 people using it & sometimes we had the place to ourselves!!

Review 10:Elena was fantastic! She spent a lot of time setting up reservations for four different dates on the Primitivo Camino. In addition, she spent time educating us on Spain and its customs. Her excellent English was very beneficial. She made our visit perfect.

Review 11:room a little noisy, would have been better with improved glazing, & aircon. I would imagine very noisy in childrens holidays.

Review 12:Virtually everything was perfect for us!

Review 13:We got charged for small extras for the evening meal we did not know we would be, like bread rolls we did not ask for or even eat! Very minor issue as I would stay here again

Review 14:Most of staff were lovely and very helpful. The rooms are on the small side but quality furnishings and plenty storage. The view from our room to the sea was stunning but even the others sides would be great and probably get more sun if you want

Review 15:All staff, especially reception staff, were incredibly friendly and helpful. We felt welcome and valued. Excellent breakfast buffet and pleasant garden.

Review 16:Leaving to come home

Review 17:Friendly attentive staff, very good food with plenty of choice, which in fact bring back customers as we shall definitely return next year but to stay longer.

Review 18:The hotel is in a prime position - it was great being able to walk out onto the lovely promenade and straight onto the beach. It has loads of positives: the staff are really pleasant, the food is wonderful, the beds are comfortable and you feel welcome there. The outside pool is lovely and useful if the waves on the beach are too big!

Review 19:Three wedding parties on the Saturday night which went through noisily until the morning.

Review 20:Location, staff, swimming pools, breakfast. Appears to be very well organised for the disabled.

Review 21:When you are paying a lot of money to stay somewhere, I personally don't expect a saltwater pool and have to pay to use the spa.

Review 22:The location is fantastic . Drinks are cheap .

Review 23:Some might say the fitments in the hotel are a little dated, and thereis no aircon in the bedrooms, although at the time we went (early July)evening temperatures are low enough not to require it. We were notexpecting to pay a further !0 euros each to use the indoor pool and spabut this seems a practice in other hotels of this if they areseparately operated.

Review 24:Great location fronting pedestrian promenade running full length ofbay. Unspoilt by commercial development and environment is of very highquality. Plenty of interest to see, where river Sella runs into thesea. Excellent dining overlooking sea and good value inclusive menu at25 euros. It doesn't matter whether your room is on the seaward sideor the estuary/town side - the views are fabulous. A walk acrossthe bridge to the old town then leads on to a further promenadeeventually leading up to a tiny church or hermita on top of the cliff, with great views.

Review 25:Spotless hotel Good staff great views

Review 26:I could live here

Review 27:Bedrooms just a little bit tired and pillows too soft.

Review 28:location was superb

Review 29:Very close to the Beach and a very good wiew over the bay.

Review 30:Great hotel.

Review 31:The pool rooms are very noisy in the morning.

Review 32:Location

Review 33:Very slippy bath with shower over.

Review 34:Beautiful seaside location with large salt pool surrounded by grass and plenty of sun loungers.

Review 35:Splendid location, staff very helpful, especially Elainor, receptionist

Review 36:Perfect location, excellent place for holiday and travellers. We would like to return in this hotel next summer.

Review 37:The restaurant was disappointing. The food was not special and the staff were a little unhelpful.

Review 38:The location was fantastic-we had a sea view. The hotel is close to town and the main sites such as the caves. We found the staff very helpful when we had difficulty booking bus tickets. They really went beyond usual expectations.

Review 39:they did not tell us thta one night we would be kept awake by a very loud FIesta in the hotel right under our bedroom window until 500am. when we complained they did at least refund the one night out of a 7 night stay. but they should have warned us and we would have realocated to another hotel . the noise was intolerable. also the food was basic quality.

Review 40:great location by a scenic beach

Review 41:The service at dinner was awful. There seemed no shortage of staff but no co-ordination and we had to keep asking for things like a wine list. Having said that, the food was excellent when it arrived. We ate out after the first night.

Review 42:Breakfasts were v. good. The one receptionist who spoke good english was delight and v. helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with a delightful view across the bay.

Review 43:Service a little slow. Standard rooms are too small for a family with extra bed. (We had to upgrade on an already expensive room)

Review 44:Excellent breakfast buffet, generally good quality food in restaurant. Very friendly and amenable front desk. Good facilities for a relatively small hotel (spa, padel tennis, large and comfortable lounge area)

Review 45:Great sea views. Brilliant wifi connection. Good breakfast selection. No complaints. Would stay at this hotel again.

Review 46:Lighting on the balcony, which cannot be switched off

Review 47:Fantastic sea view. Friendly staff, good cuisine.

Review 48:Over a mile from the town centre.

Review 49:The staff

Review 50:Lack of imagination in cuisine

Review 51:Excellent location Friendly Staff Spacious room

Review 52:Lovely hotel in a great location
