Reviews for Boutique Hotel Palacio
Review 1:The only thing I would like to see were some minor repairs to be made. One loose tile outside the bathroom. Multiple cracked accent tiles in the bathroom. Also, a wet paint sign would have been nice. I ruined a shirt by leaning on a freshly painted balcony rail.
Review 2:Everything else in the hotel was perfect. The staff was especially kind and helpful with all my little problems like my phone not charging and a broken cork screw stuck in a wine bottle. The room was immaculate, on site parking and swimming pool were great. The food from the restaurant was pretty good. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I would highly recommend Boutique Hotel Palacio
Review 3:The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is buffet style and it had a great variety every day, it was never the same food and I stay 8 days. The room was service everyday the maid replace what I have used. Great center location of Santo Domingo a courner of el Conde. Over all I have nothing negative to say
Review 4:The staff at the hotel was very professional and very kind. The location was very convenient in the colonial area. The building has nice architecture and beautiful Spanish ceilings.
Review 5:One lady at the desk was very unfriendly and almost rude when i lost the room key..... bathroom had some mold on the ceiling, Breakfast was poor
Review 6:Location Staff in General
Review 7:First room had a humidity problem and no ventilation
Review 8:The staff was really Good solving our problem with the first room and gave Us an upgrade to a suite.
Review 9:Not keen on having $100 taken from my card on arrival - what on earth was I going to spend $100 on in an hotel? They returned it on departure but showed a lack of trust - maybe necessary but not nice. Room was a bit dark and staff made a heck of a noise outside it since it was opposite their cleaning cupboard.
Review 10:Location is just around the corner from EVERYTHING; pool on the roof; free coffee; fridge; safe in wardrobe; bar with window and comfy chair to read and watch people go by; desk staff spoke good English, were professional and helpful.
Review 11:Not a boutique hotel by any stretch of the imagination. The place has potential but needs an extensive make over. Breakfast was disappointing.
Review 12:The location of the hotel is great. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 13:shower room in our room needs a refreshment.
Review 14:Beautifull house in colonial style. Nice rooms. Very well located to get all historical places in short time.
Review 15:my stay was as expected. Some people complained about noise if your room is on the side of the central court but we did not have any issues
Review 16:Really good location to visit zona colonial. Clean rooms and service was good. Easy reach also to several restaurants.
Review 17:The customer service was good but the staff could have been more friendlier.
Review 18:The privacy of this hotel although it is a block away from El Conde in the Zona Colonial.
Review 19:Was a group who partied and talked on patio till 4am very disturbing but they were young and having fun but I think staff should have asked them to quiet down after about 1am but they talked till 4am.
Review 20:Location, staff, cleanliness
Review 21:Requested a non-smoking room, was given a smoking room. Noisy fridge and outdated AC system. Old and charming building but it feels cramped.
Review 22:Free parking on-site, comfy bed. Complimentary breakfast.
Review 23:no fault of the hotel, but when you call for a taxi, ask the cost of trip before you agree. Some drivers continue to overprice because you are a tourist. It pays to know a little Spanish.
Review 24:I've been staying here when I visit Santo Domingo got the last 4 years. Location is great. Near historical monuments, access to stores, restaurants on the Naked in. Can't wait until next year.
Review 25:I came on business and took the effort to call and make sure they had computers and wifi on site. I was assured of both. Thus I left my laptop at home. The house computers were 'out of order'. Thus causing me great distress. And unfortunately I could not find one to purchase.
Review 26:The Hotel was clean, The room and Bathroom were clean. The restaurant left a bit to be desired. Menu was very limited. And the breakfast was pricey and not so much on the buffet.
Review 27:I enjoy a softer bed.
Review 28:All the employees were very friendly and helpful. The hotel gives you the feeling that you are in fact in the Colonial zone and many sites are very close and in walking distance. I was there with my 7 year old daughter and she enjoyed the hotel also.
Review 29:We are from MB, Canada, presently spending time in Haiti as missionaries. It was a neat experience spending 3 nights at Boutique Hotel Palacio. Our room was spacious, bright, and beautiful, and plenty big enough for our 3 children. Breakfasts were superb, and all around it was a good experience. If we come to Santo Domingo again, we'll stay at Hotel Palacio.
Review 30:I wish it was a closer walk to the touristic colonial zone (church, monuments, restaurants). Internet was a bit spotty but OK.
Review 31:The old world / historical feel with several beautiful courtyards and internal gardens. I loved the authentic looking artwork (paintings). The cute gym was one of the reasons we booked it. We loved the secured garage parking (for free), the room size, the friendly staff. The new bartender (very sweet).
Review 32:The staff could have been a bit friendlier and accommodating.
Review 33:Location, location, location. It was nice being in a hotel in the Colonial Zone with a swimming pool.
Review 34:High mini bar prices No personal touches in room Unfriendly receptionists who appeared generally disinterested - not a good first impression
Review 35:The sun loungers and beautiful terrace. Whirlpool bath
Review 36:It was perfect!
Review 37:Perfectly located for sight seeing walks, this beautiful and historic boutique hotel boasts all the amenities travellers look for. Pristinely kept, well appointed rooms are second to none in this calibre. Though all rooms are equipped with free wifi and modern flat screen televisions, travellers need not find these ways of occupying their minds as there is plenty of beautifully preserved architecture throughout from the 14' ceilings, moulded cconesses and teak accents, original fired clay bricked and plastered walls decked with paintings of historic scenes and vegetation growing throuout the solarium, which makes guests feel like they are in the middle of a tropical jungle as they lounge around one of the many vignettes gives a distinct form of entertainment. The warm, welcoming and accomadating staff top the visit off . . . Not to mention the Dominican style breakfast with fried michele cheese, eggs and fried salami. For 4 of us our total bill for room, drinks from the bar and breakfast came to only $180 U.S. This stop is one these travellers will remember for a lifetime.
Review 38:The woman on the front desk needs bedside manner, or at least to be rained to be nicer to guests. The room was extremely noisy, where I heard the music and the crowd from the next-door bar until 2:00 a.m. I reported this and was told nothing could be done. The bed was like a diving board (hard), and honestly, there was nothing to it forth spending over $100.00.
Review 39:The hotel is lovely, and the doorman was very friendly and nice.
Review 40:Mosquitoes and ants.
Review 41:The decor is tasteful and tropical and you can find great comfort in the public spaces. It is something of an oasis amid the tempestuous onslaught of people on the outside trying to chase you down for money.
Review 42:No toilet paper, when we asked for it, they said they would bring it to us and they didn't. We had to ask for the iron and they also never brought it, so we had to go to reception and get it.
Review 43:The staff was very friendly. They always attended in a timely manner and were always so pleasing to talk to.
Review 44:Very friendly staff, interior ,lounge area is quite tropical looking, room and decor is quite Spanish, you get the feeling that you are in spaniar country..clean,reasonably priced, close to everything..loved it
Review 45:I stayed here with a group of friends and it was so much better than expected! What a steal. Staff was very friendly and the hotel was beautiful and relaxing! Definitely stay here if youfind yourself in Santo Domingo.
Review 46:Wifi was on and off for most of our two night stay but staff was very helpful with information about town.
Review 47:Charming garden courtyard dining area, our ground floor room was clean and comfortable bathroom was excellent.
Review 48:We had to change rooms because of a termite explosion in our bathroom. They first room they tried to move us into was seriously about 75sqft. Which means after the queen bed there was no place to put the crib for our baby. I protested loudly and then we were moved to room 139. OMG this room is on the 4th floor of a very narrow steep staircase. getting our stuff, stroller and all was a challenge, but the room was quiet and internet crazy fast.
Review 49:We loved the location and the friendlness/helpfulness of the staff. The wifi was super fast and breakfast was on point.
Review 50:was given a ground floor room that was noisy and the ac unit was leaking water that landed on the closet and wetted all my clothes then was given a bigger room and then was charged for the upgrade even thought there was no other rooms available
Review 51:the location /some very helpful staff
Review 52:The internet service was spotty and they had difficulty fixing it, especially during the two out of 7 days that I was there. Breakfast could be improved. They have mostly fried stuff and not enough variety of things.I had difficulty explaining that I wanted a hard boiled egg, instead of scrambled ones.
Review 53:I liked the architectural aspect of the hotel. Apparently it was a palace in the past and is different from modern hotels. Has a nice patio garden yard with shrubs and flowers, making it pleasant for having breakfast or drinks. The staff was very polite and most of them spoke English well. I was particularly happy with Ana who was attentive to every request and answered questions very politely. It would be nice if they can have an English speaking person in the kitchen area for non-Spanish speaking people.
Review 54:This has to be the best place in the colonial city. we asked for the suite, their largest room and it was massive with an equally massive bathroom. Free parking is important in the area. Easy, easy access to everything. Cost was extremely reasonable. Only slight downside is you pay for breakfast. Super hotel, friendly and quiet.
Review 55:Wifi connection quiet good, but needed to re login regularly. We did find a few bed bugs hiding in the corners of the mattress under the hem and also a few very small unidentifiable bugs on the side table. We dealt with them all with some bug spray. Mentioned to the cleaner the next morning, not sure if any action taken. For a hotel of this calibre I would expect more attention to these things.
Review 56:Great location, very good air conditioning in the rooms and a very welcome roof top pool for cooling off in the afternoon!
Review 57:The Classic Queen Room was small and only had a desk chair to sit in. A more comfortable chair would have been nice.
Review 58:The location was excellent; 1/2 block from the shopping district, in the Colonial District. It is a simply beautiful hotel, very relaxing atmosphere, beautiful courtyard and wonderful food.
Review 59:We had a room on the ground floor that was next to the restaurant, so it was a bit noisy with the early breakfast eaters right next door.
Review 60:The staff were friendly and helped us to book a car rental, while the rooms were comfortable and clean. Just about everything in Santo Domingo is within walking distance from the hotel.
Review 61:I found nothing to complain about.
Review 62:The hotel is located close to the cathedral and the Columbus Park. Friendly staff. A nice building (but we stayed in a standard room, because only two nights; I would recommend the suits).
Review 63:Family with two couples and three children - very kid friendly staff. Rooms were traditional and roomy with good International TV access. One room was bright and airy, one room was a bit gloomy due to its ground floor location. Kids loved the pool. Breakfast was good, dinner was OK. Perfect location for exploring the colonial part of Santo Dimingo. Great access to walk streets, restaurants, and local culture.
Review 64:Our 4 day stay at Hotel Palacio was most enjoyable. Centrally located in the Zona Colonial, it is a beautiful example of historical architecture offering a central courtyard, and large bedrooms. The friendly staff were extremely helpful, and the restaurant provided a very good buffet and had a small but good menu for dinner. The rooms on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors would be preferable to the main floor. We would recommend this hotel.
Review 65:Breakfast not included
Review 66:Hotel well maintained with free parking. It has a restaurant where breakfast is served charged separately, but it is worth considering \there is no good place in neigborhood. Close to the cathedral and other attractions, you can do everything in walking distance. It has a gym and a good rooftop pool. The room was spacious and the bathroom was recently renovated, fine clean.
Review 67:Please do note the extra 28% tax over shown price (we hadn't). Arriving by car is difficult, as there's no reserved parking zone in front of the hotel, the street is always packed by other cars and it's not possible to temporarily double park.
Review 68:Great location to reach the Colonial area (pedestrian street just by the corner), very clean, super comfortable beds, in-site parking (albeit small).
Review 69:A bit noisy
Review 70:This is a beautifully charming hitem in the old district which is quite safe. It's everything you would imagine from an older hotel. It can be a bit loud at night being right off a quaint little street but security is good, food and service are good and beds are comfortable. If you're looking for posh with new paint and furnishings this is not the place for you. Also it's walking distance to many shops and attractions. Loved the ambiance!
Review 71:There was nothing bad about our experience - all positive!
Review 72:Hotel Palacio has superb staff, a lovely setting in the heart of Ciudad Colonial, comfortable rooms and an elegant decor. I found this an excellent place to stay and good value for the price.
Review 73:You have to go to the commons area to get wifi. But.....you can get it.
Review 74:We spent a night at the Palacio and had reservations to return 2 weeks later. Our plans changed and we returned 5 days early. I walked into reception and explained my situation and they quickly moved my reservation to the current day, upgraded my room and let me stay for 2 extra days. Such wonderful guest services. I would return to this hotel.
Review 75:If there was any thing to complain about it was that we had no lift to our room - but having said this there were only 15 steps to negotiate!
Review 76:We liked the rustic nature of the hotel and its architecture. The location near to the El Conde street and Cathedral II was alos good.
Review 77:It 24 hours to get our air conditioning fixed, which made for an uncomfortable night. Check out could be a little faster.
Review 78:Great location and staff. Comfortable and clean room.
Review 79:This hotel has the best location. Near everything you can think of in the Zona Colonial. All the staff were wonderful and so helpfull. They went above & beyond to help our need. Actually after my 3 days statyed and went to Punta Cana for 4 days and had to come back to the SDQ and did not hesitate to come and stayed there again. Highly recommended withour any doubt.
Review 80:i was over charged several times when I requested the hotel staff (front desk) to call me a cab. From the looks of it when I complained to the taxi drivers the staff gets a cut from the taxi. Be prepared to pay a lot more if you use them.
Review 81:Very good location in the old center. Many nice bars and restaurants close by. Internet was fast and good. A very nice old building with a nice courtyard. My room was very quiet which is nice in a busy city
Review 82:Is something expensive. Is whit out breakfast. Then with taxes you paid around $86. Everything else is ok. Size room, customers service. WiFi is so/so
Review 83:No negotiate comment, except what's was mentioned above.
Review 84:In general I love your Palace (specially room# 112, except for the water pressure in the shower & Saturday nights)! The Hotel staff is friendly, the place is clean, the front desk is good & helpful in giving recommendation or directions & the Valet/Guard is also very good too! Most importantly, I appreciate the fact that the owners of this property are not interested in milking their Clients, For example: currencies exchanges are very fair or at "true market rates", mini-bar charges are very reasonable and, if not included, breakfast for only $6. You just can't complaint about that! My wife & I love to stay in the Colonial part of Santo Domingo and have stay in most of the nicest properties in the area (Hostsls/Hotels). We look forward to our next visit!
Review 85:There were some unexpected cost items added to my final bill, which increased the cost of my room above what I expected when I made my reservation.
Review 86:The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, which lends itself to a luxury feel. With its hidden courtyards, landscaping and open air pool, this hotel spells value for a very reasonable price. The staff is very professional and kind - every hotel-associated individual from the room staff, desk staff or security - is on point to make your visit as comfortable as possible. The continental breakfast is also a great start to the day. The hotel is centrally located in the Colonial Zone and there are plenty of shopping, eating, nightlife, and historical sites within 4-5 blocks. Each room is very different from the next and it is easy to accommodate a romantic stay versus a family-centered one. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to obtain a real sense of what Santo Domingo has to offer
Review 87:...the aircon would have worked. Therefore and after a very late arrival (after midnight due to late flight) we had a very uncomfortable, humid and hot night in the room, with the result that even though we very tired couldn't really sleep.
Review 88:The ambience of the place was lovely and it would have received top marks if....
Review 89:There was a water leak in the room which wasn't dealt with properly.
Review 90:The staff were friendly and helpful. Particularly one gentleman who was security or maintenance. Our room, and the rest of the hotel were gorgeous. Great location, too.
Review 91:very professional staff. the food is good. the service is prompt. they are on the ball here. they do a good job.
Review 92:Great location. Extremely helpful staff. Great colonial era décor.
Review 93:Power outage.
Review 94:Historic scenery and trees inside the building.
Review 95:Hotel Palacio is a nice place in the heart of "Zona Colonial". Stuff is really friendly, room was comfortable and bathroom was great :)
Review 96:There was no on-site parking.
Review 97:The hotel is centrally located in Zona colonial
Review 98:Style, location, breakfast, stuff, room style
Review 99:a weird constant machine-like noise coming from the hall, breakfast not being included in price
Review 100:comfy beds, cleanliness, location
Review 101:Staff was exceptional. Source of excellent information about the area. Available when we needed them and very attentive.
Review 102:Great location. Staff very helpful. Free coffee all day.

Review 107:Breakfast was included in my rate but the hotel charged us forbkfst. No good
Review 108:Everybody at the hotel was extraordinary fantastic.
Review 109:We were allowed to go to the pool before our check-in time. The hotel is very well located in downtown.

Review 111:The location is perfect
Review 112:No window in the room
Review 113:Food and staff
Review 114:La gentillesse du personnel, le style architectural de l'établissement, la chambre
