Reviews for Wakeup Copenhagen - Carsten Niebuhrs Gade
Review 1:Never is your booked room ready before 15.00, but always other more expensive rooms are. Don't believe this (when it is already 14.30), just a way to sell more expensive rooms...
Review 2:A very nice hotel. Close to Central station en City Centre, good looking hotel with nice rooms and you can rent a bike.
Review 3:Couldn't check in before 15.00 at all. Normally at other hotels I've stayed in, you could check in a couple of hours early if the room was ready. Smal room.
Review 4:Clean room, and great location.
Review 5:to get in our room earlier than 15-00 we had to upgrade room for 27€, even the hotel looked pretty empty. a shower in the room had leakage to the bathroom floor. very bad sound isolation.
Review 6:it is located near train station
Review 7:Contrary to the description, I do not think it was really .600 kms. from the Central Train Station and there are really no buses outside the hotel since you need to walk to the corner which is around 180-200 meters to get to the nearest bus stop. For a tourist, aside from the distance, walking to the hotel from the Central Station is not that relaxing and not appealing especially during winter and nightime since there are no shops, restaurants or establishments that are lighted on the way. There are similarly priced hotel near the Central Train Station and nearby Denmark attractions ( Tivoli, Stroget).
Review 8:Super! Clean, modern, comfortable, warm, very good location and excellent value for money. I foresee more mini breaks to Copenhagen with a stay in Wakeup Copenhagen.
Review 9:Facilities were more than adequate; staff were friendly and helpful when needed; room was cleaned regularly amdcheck-out efficient towels changed as requested.
Review 10:We are from Hong Kong, went there from the UK. You need to walk quite a while to get to the hotel from the central station. The room provided just a small pack of shampoo+body wash, which is not enough for a single person, and the quality was bad. No telephone, means you have to walk down to the main reception every time when you need something. If you want to store your luggage, you need to pay for the lockers downstairs.
Review 11:Bed was big enough. Showers' water was hot enough.
Review 12:I'm coeliac, gluten free. Although I was given gluten free bread when I asked if it was available, there was little else that was gluten free for me to eat.
Review 13:Central location.
Review 14:No tea or coffee facilities in room. Better for couples who are comfortable with one another. Bathroom not v private.
Review 15:Great location for money. Modern with all you need for sleeping and showering. We spent most of the day exploring this beautiful city so just needed somewhere to crash.
Review 16:The only down fall is our room didn't have sound proof Windows so could hear all the trains during the night.
Review 17:Location is brilliant not far from central station. The hotel was clean and staff incredibly friendly.
Review 18:Ventilation in the room was very noisy and couldn't be controlled. Lots of extra charges - for example each use of lockers for stowing luggage is charged.
Review 19:It was a bit far from other touristic attractions, it is only close to Tivoli. The reception does not give you info about the city unless you ask for it. The room was small and the bathroom door did not close properly but we didn't mind.
Review 20:Budget friendly and comfy.
Review 21:Bathroom drains really smelt bad, hit you as soon as you entered room. You only got one small lumpy pillow and was told had to pay to check in before 3pm, they didn't even check if rooms were available.
Review 22:Was good value for money for prices in Copenhagen
Review 23:A bit noisy (room facing the train station); the room was quite small but sufficient, travelled with a male friend so it was quite awkard since the shower with the toilet were both see-through!
Review 24:Location, clean, breakfast selection ok
Review 25:Two people stayed in this room yet they didn't bother putting 2 pillows on the bed or 2 towels in the bathroom. The pillows were the smallest, thinnest pillows I had ever seen.
Review 26:Lots of restaurants, etc a walkable distance away, but nothing in the immediate vicinity. Extra charges for every little thing, like rooms on higher floors and luggage storage. I understand this is how they keep their prices low, and the charges aren't very much, but it gives you an bit of an odd feeling.
Review 27:Fresh and clean budget hotel. Accommodations were tastefully decorated and quite comfortable. Short walk to main train station and busses. Comfortable bed with extra pillows and blankets. Good value for the price.
Review 28:- breakfast: there should be more variety for this price (2 types of cheese? And 2 marmolades? Coffee - not very tasty but there is a plus: you can have the coffee for take away - a nice gesture for visitors)
Review 29:- location - friendly staff - comfortable bed
Review 30:Room was quite stuffy, and quite cramped for three people (the third person had to sleep on a fold out sofa) which we hadn't been aware of.
Review 31:Staff were great, very friendly and helpful and gave good advice for things to do and transport links. Relatively close to meatpacking district which was good. Free internet was a bonus.
Review 32:Rooms are too small. Breakfast time is over at 10:00, however at 09:45 staff is already removing food and cleaning up the breakfast room...
Review 33:Location and cleanliness.
Review 34:Only bad thing is the smokers stand right outside the front door so you are covered in smoke every time you enter and exit the hotel.
Review 35:Simple hotel with really nice and helpful staff. A little like a backpackers with everything charged - not the luxury of a hotel..
Review 36:I was on the 8th floor (not the top floor) and at a rainy night water dripped from the ceiling onto the bed. The cleaning could be better. The rooms are small but ideal for business trip.
Review 37:The hotel was near to my conference hall. Also it is not far from the city centre and the train station.
Review 38:Rooms are very small and they don't have kettle which was very annoying as I like to have hot drink first thing in the morning
Review 39:Very comfortable bed and good shower
Review 40:Hated the no privacy with the bathroom. Breakfast was pretty dismal for the price of it.
Review 41:Location was good as it was so close to the train station. Bed was comfortable.
Review 42:Distance from station is just over 1 km not 250 metres...1km from anything..ie cafes etc. Extremely compact room which is width of the bed..
Review 43:Peace and quiet..
Review 44:The breakfast was charged, was not plentiful at all, you got barely no choice.
Review 45:The over all of hotel design was nice. Clean, modern and fashion. The room was small but well furnitured, satisfying all you need.
Review 46:- Rooms are a bit small. We read about this in other reviews but it was a little smaller than expected. The dubble bed could only be reached from one side. The other side of the bed was against the wall. - Internetconnection in the room was a bit poor.
Review 47:+ The location of the hotel is ok/good. Quite near the train station and Tivolli (5 minute walk), a little further away from the city center (10 minute walk). + Modern and clean rooms (we had housekeeping every day) with basic facilities. + Nice lobby with chairs, TV and some drinks available. + We had a room on the sixth floor (we booked on lower floors) on the front of the hotel: we had a great view over the train station and the rest of the city (see photo).
Review 48:A little overpriced, but then everywhere in Copenhagen is expensive Breakfast not included
Review 49:The size of the room are decent for what u might expect in a city like Copenhagen Locker rooms to store luggage at £2 Lots of facilities at the hotel Close to central station and Tivoli
Review 50:Thin walls, could hear loud snooring from the neighbours and noise from the airconditioning intake from the roof below. Tough matress on the bed and the duvet was weird. No security box. The shampoo was impossible to open once inside the shower(have to tear open some packets).
Review 51:The staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was great.
Review 52:The window could easily be opened which is really bad if you travel with baby. Security device was plastic and very bad design. Broken in our room so we had to change room. When asked at breakfast for the possibility to desinfect baby bottle in Microwave or hot water got negative response. At front desk much better attention.
Review 53:Close location to city center. Possibility to rent bikes. Comfortable bed.
Review 54:Very very basic rooms. Clean, but quite crowded if you're traveling with family although we took a bigger room which costed is more. Breakfast wasn't up to our expectation for the price we paid.
Review 55:Location was good. 10 minutes walking distance to Copenhagen Central which is very convenient. It's also close to a mall that has a convenience store within and numerous restaurants that offer lunch and dinner buffets and other choices. Tivoli Amusement Park is also close by opposite Copenhagen Central. Staff were very helpful and professional.
Review 56:excellent location , very clean, ideal for a couple on their own but we were a party of 3 adults and the third bed was not acceptable - just a fold out chair! and we were staying for 3 nights so very uncomfortable- also we found it noisy as we were on the train station side ad we had screaming girls in the room next door but obviously this is luck of the draw and not the fault of the hotel but it did spoil our experience.
Review 57:Nothing bad to comment on!
Review 58:I loved this hotel, for a 2 star hotel this is amazing, better than a lot of the 3 star hotels I've stayed in! The room was very clean, and had a hairdryer and some toiletries! The style of the room was lovely as was the entire of the hotel. The reception area and entrance look awesome and there's a little modern living area where you can sit and bring your own drinks. The staff were friendly and helpful offering travel advice round Copenhagen. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that but you can walk to the central station in 10 mins where there's tonnes of options for breakfast! I cannot fault this hotel! Loved it here! This should have 3 stars!
Review 59:As a woman traveling solo the walk back past the post centre late in the evening is not the most pleasant, bit quiet. But I did not feel unsafe.
Review 60:A little out of the buzz of things in CPH centre, but conveniently close to the central station. Comfy bed, good shower, easy check out all make up for the limited space. CPH is an expemsive city so you get what you for and WakeUp has got it right.
Review 61:Location is near train tracks, not for quiet sleepers. Bed is fairly short. Glass bathroom makes for lack of privacy. Not much of any facilities in this hotel.
Review 62:Great view, friendly staff, very clean. Overall location is good.
Review 63:The behaviour of a receptionist at our arrival (I had a small problem with the credit card). The breakfast is poor. Few soaps in the bathroom and we found a towel dirty.
Review 64:The room in general, the bed is comfortable (with view) and the shower is super. The wi-fi is very fast and you find a lot of computer (free) at the hall.
Review 65:Simple hotel with basic facilities, but it's clean and comfortable, which makes it great value for money. The location is close to Tivoli gardens, which is just a 10 minute walk away.
Review 66:staff was a bit under pressure (?)... could easily be more friendly
Review 67:- very clean and modern hotel - my advice to the traveller : renting a bicycle is a great facility to visit the city from the hotel (but not the cheapest)
Review 68:The double bed in the standard room is described as king size, but definitely it is not. The pillows are really small, look old and not very comfortable. The room facilities are poor. The reception is not helpful. We wanted to leave our luggage into the lockers in the basement of the hotel. The key of the first locker we tried did not work and our 20 Danish Krone is waisted. We told this to reception and they just said "We are not responsible for the lockers. You need to ask someone in the basement." which makes no sense because there is also nobody in the basement who is responsible for the lockers.
Review 69:The location was ok, although not the best. Walking distance from the Copenhagen Central Station, around 15 min. The room was clean. It is ok for a short stay.
Review 70:No telephone in room to call reception very expensive for what the room offers No kettle or coffee maker in room or top floors Ask for money on arrival instead of check out Our room was available with 3 hours delay
Review 71:Close to city center
Review 72:The fact that no cleaning was done in the room other than garbage removal, and that only one cup was provided and the towels and bedding were very old and worn. The staff were very UNWELCOMING.
Review 73:Nothing
Review 74:You feel you are in a tiny cubicle where the neighbouring room feelsvery close because of the fact there is a door connecting the two roomswhich allows much sound to be shared between rooms. In other words onedoes not have a feeling of real privacy. If I would come back it is onlybecause it is at the cheaper end of Copenhagen of hotels and clearlynicer than the horrible CabInn.
Review 75:It's relatively cheap and clean.
Review 76:The rooms are small, but of course that is what we booked The breakfast was very basic Danish style (a few cold cuts, bread, hard boiled egg, cucumber and some cereals). The room was too warm (it was a very hot day which is not normal for DK) and the airconditioning wasn't enough or didn't work properly. We didn't report this, so I guess it's our own fault to have experienced that.
Review 77:The hotel is centrally located and new. The bed is comfortable and the reception area is very nice. We had a room with an amazing view of Copenhagen. We were quite satisfied with the experience.
Review 78:the wifi in the room sometimes doesn't work very well. it doesn't offer shower gel, shampoo and toothbrush..., be sure to bring them on your own.
Review 79:the design is modern, bright and clean. the staff is so helpful and friendly.
Review 80:Did not appreciate the disposables used as shower cream. Was barely enough for one shower. Little things like that gave an overall cheap feeling where one has saved money on the wrong things. The breakfast barely reached "acceptable" in my mind. But apart from that a rather nice hotel but I think I will choose another hotel next stay in Copenhagen.
Review 81:Very nice room with interesting design
Review 82:A view on a railroad. I was on 1st floor near hotel entrance, smokers always been nearby, Even with strong wind there were smell coming from open window.
Review 83:The hotel is near city center.
Review 84:No coffee or any other facilities in the room, and a bit small for the price. They charge for the parking and for luggage storage.
Review 85:Clean, efficient and good location.
Review 86:Noise from trains in room, paid more for 'Heaven' room but not sure view was much different to lower floor, small room! Bottled water expensive, need to pay for use of lockers.
Review 87:Central location, clean hotel, wifi, busy but calm atmosphere.
Review 88:Clean, modern hotel. Bathroom facilities clean, hairdryer provided. Clean towels and shower gel and soap provided. Comfortable bed and clean bedding. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Review 89:a rude female receptionist, indifferent, unhelpful. Stressing repeatedly that this is only a 2star hotel. This" take it or leave it, I couldn't care less"attitude is really disgusting. Will never go to this hotel again.
Review 90:A word of warning that given the proximity to the train lines, it can get noisy with the window open - BUT with the window closed, you wouldn't know!
Review 91:Good price by Copenhagen standards. Staff were excellent. Delivered on what it was advertised as and didn't pretend to be anything else.
Review 92:Room was too small. WiFi during the evening/night was slow and sometimes even dos not work at all. Parking price
Review 93:Bed comfort despite the size. Parking close to the hotel
Review 94:Noise from doors closing all day and night and from construction work at the building next door. The bed was very hard and the chairs uncomfortable too. It was very hot in the room and the air con wasn't able to cool it down. Some of the staff at the reception desk seemed rude.
Review 95:The room was clean.
Review 96:Not that far from the central station but inconvenient location. The overall cleanness was fine except the toilet itself smelled like urine.
Review 97:The bed was comfortable
Review 98:We arrived at 13:30 and we could not check in until 15:00. No problemwith that, it's public on the terms and conditions of thereservation. However, it's funny that for checking in our room wasnot available yet (90 minutes before the "official" check intime) but there were other rooms available at a higher cost which thereceptionist offered us. During our stay the cleaning service did notshow up until afternoon (nothing to complain at all) but on the last daythey show up sharply at 11:00 (check out time).Nothing to blame here, but I would really appreciate a better customer care. Not being able to check in until 15:00 when you know that your room is available... just to make you pay a little extra... it's a pity. The hotel is more than OK and the location although improvable is good enough to enjoy the city centre.
Review 99:It's price and location. Bikes for rental.
Review 100:This place is too crowded. It takes forever to get a simple question answered by the staff. They price is on par with a hotel, but there is no breakfast, they do not clean the room at all, there is no desk, and a double comes with a single bed only, as if all people traveling together are couples who love to sleep together. I had to go downstairs and wait line for 15 minutes just to get fresh towels. I would never stay at this place again.
Review 101:The location
Review 102:The hotel is located in what feels like an industrial park at the back of the railway station. Having said that it wasn't really a problem and just a short walk from the centre of town
Review 103:Clean, functional room
Review 104:Train station close, so noisy enough but no problem if window closed Late check in.....they asked for 50 DKK for earlier check in (13:30) but in upper floor
Review 105:Very clean room!! Helpful staff Close to city center The cheapest in area, should not look for another hotel.....
Review 106:The rooms were small, and at times felt cramped. The rooms also did not have tea/coffee making facilities with no tea and other items, I think that would have definitely improved our stay.
Review 107:The hotel is very nice and clean. The hotel staff were friendly. The breakfast was really nice for the price. I really liked the design of the hotel.
Review 108:Perhaps a kettle, coffee and tea in the room.
Review 109:This hotel is very convenient for the city centre and all the attractions. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good value for money- as much as you can eat for 8 krones. Free Wi-fi excellent. Would certainly stay here again and have already recommended it to friends.
Review 110:Everytime we want to take the bus, we need a 10-12min walk to central station and catch bus/metro/train there. Not so convenient. If you want to check in early, you have to pay more. That makes us feel very bad. Luggage room costs money. Another bad thing.
Review 111:you can rent bikes there.
Review 112:Rude receptionist. Weird location between the train yard and a construction sigh surrounded by other new hotels. My room overlooked the Meat district but it took me 20 minutes to walk there because you have to walk around the train yard. Prefer the CabInn.
Review 113:Convenient for business travel or one-night stay near Copenhagen central station. Easy to get to airport. Cheap for Copenhagen. There were also lots of young families staying there, as it is cheap and still close to town.
Review 114:Design not exceptional (Scandic hotels are much better), interesting concept with the bathroom, small rooms, expensive for the size (Danemark issue)
Review 115:Renting a bicycle to visit this scenic city and make fantastic pictures. Location clore the modern part of the city, fantastic city to visit, possible to spent a week visiting like Paris or Barcelona
Review 116:Everything was good
Review 117:It is modern and with in easy walking distance to the train station and Tivoli Gardens. There is a hop on hop off sightseeing bus right in front. The breakfast is a good value with cold cuts, juice and even soft boiled eggs. They have a snack store with sandwiches and beer and wine.
Review 118:No telephone in the room, no double duvet, instead two single duvets were provided.
Review 119:Bed was very comfortable. Room was small, but efficient. Close to the train station. Aircon/heating was excellent.
Review 120:Breakfast is a tragedy, each day the same, only 5 things to choose! No fruits, vegetables! Coffee next tragedy it's a dark water not a coffee! Such a big hotel and no one little place for kids, and there was much families with children's! Cups from plastic? What? Dirty carpet, the rooms are very loud!
Review 121:Pretty costly (+ breakfast is not included), no closet, no fridge/mini bar, queues at the reception
Review 122:Good location (about 10 minutes of walking from the train station), clean modern rooms with a nice view
Review 123:Third bed was NO BED!!! Honestly NOT said in your room Ad. Pillows were TERRIBLE, ask for and extra pillow was straight out told NO! And given 3 extra towels instead! Service??? Doors handle broken to shower! Towel rack broken too! Internet was down all the time! We had no cleaning.
Review 124:I was travelling w old folks who would like to make hot drinks in the room. Room cleaners have taken all the shower gels that was originally allocated to our 5 day stay. I had to leave note to tell them to give top up 4 packets daily for 2 to shower morning and evening. Otherwise they only provided 2. The pillow is too soft for old folks. There should be shower caps and cups for hot drinks in the room.
Review 125:The room is very clean and the bed is very comfortable. Wifi connection is very good. Breakfast is great. Value for money.
Review 126:Good, clean, simple hotel. Nothing fancy, but definitely a good place to stay if you're just looking for a clean and safe place to sleep at night.
Review 127:Rooms are tiny, walls are thin, bathroom not sound proof & offers little privacy, walk to Central Station with luggage is fine but not pleasant (pack light and compact!), pillows not great
Review 128:The location - easy to walk/cycle to everything, bicycle rental at hotel, pleasant & helpful staff, modern & clean, easy check-out, free wi-fi in room, hair dryer, good shower pressure and even temperature although small.
Review 129:small bed, no breakfast, long line to check-in, no privacy in bathroom
Review 130:new and modern hotel, normal size of room, nice walk to city center, close to Tivoli park, interesting bathroom, comfortable bed, clean room, easy check-out, hairdryer
Review 131:Only 1 thing i didnt like-breakfast. Very poor and almost no vegetables ( only cucumber), no warm food.
Review 132:location to the main sightseens and clean compact room.
Review 133:Nothing.
Review 134:Great room, with a double bed for a single occupancy, nice shower, operating heating/AC, blackout curtains were important in very long summer days length. I got my room cleaned even leaving my room after 1pm, and the room service time was like 11am. The bike rental available at the hotel was also great.
Review 135:The bed was only accessible from one side, and the pillows were miniature. There wasn't a proper bar, and there was no atmosphere in the hotel in the evenings
Review 136:The staff were all very friendly, and the hotel was very clean.
Review 137:Arrived at midday and wére told our room was not ready but if we paid more a more expensive room was available. Otherwise we could leave our luggage in pay lockers on the ground floor. Leak from shower in room above.several attempts to repair it. Small room
Review 138:Location close to station
