Reviews for Copenhagen Admiral Hotel
Review 1:The room was a little cool at times but the temperature outside was -6 degrees C.
Review 2:The location is perfect with a 3 minute walk to Nyhavn. The staff offered an upgraded room with a harbour view - we didn't even need to ask!
Review 3:Rooms, the beams are dangerous especially at night when lights are off and you may need to go to the bathroom, irons and boards just left lying around the corridors, cleanliness has gone downhill - all a little down at heel to be honest.
Review 4:We asked for a quiet room however unfortunately there was a function going on which led to noise outside the hotel until 3am but when mentioned the next morning we were given complimentary breakfast.
Review 5:The rooms were clean and very comfortable, we were upgraded to a bigger room on arival.
Review 6:The bathroom was a little old-fashioned, shower curtain was a little old, and the shower was a little small. Also, an unusual smell in the entrance to corridors not found anywhere else. But this is nitpicking and hardly noticeable.
Review 7:It's a really beautiful building in a great place if you want a quiet nights sleep, and if you want somewhere close to a nice neighbourhood with the Amalienborg nearby and Nyhavn just a square away. The hotel is especially warm for winter, and the temperature is not too hot, but just great at night. Also, I think the Hotel itself has a great restaurant and bar.
Review 8:Should have remained as a warehouse; not fit for purpose as a hotel! If you actually want to sleep in your room, do not book here! Very noisy; walls and floors so thin you can hear everything! Bathroom toilets do not flush properly and a strange smell emanates from what I can only assume is the way in which the drains under the sink are configured. The bathrooms resemble something out of the 1970s in terms of decor. Poor lighting and layout of bedrooms and wooden beams in very inconvenient places; accident waiting to happen!
Review 9:We were only here for one night - must stay longer next time.
Review 10:First: The location speaks for itself - right on the water. There was some construction going on on the opposite pier but the building site was kept tidy and even that couldn't detract from the charming setting. And I'm confident when it's completed it will be in careful and stylish keeping with the beautiful city around it. I can only imagine how cosy their outdoor patio area must be during the summer months. (I will be back). The staff were without fail remarkably friendly and upon check in we found we had been upgraded from a regular room to water front room without even asking. We enjoyed a local stroll - with the Queen's palace around the corner and beautiful Nyhavn (bars, restaurants along the harbour) just a short walk away - and of course the extensive shopping stretch (Stroget) leading on from there - and we returned for a little snack at the bar in the hotel. The service here was wonderful, professional, friendly and attentive - even with a full bar area and seemingly just one gentleman running the show. The bar gets its food from the Hotel restaurant SALT, which has a reputation in its own right - and we were so impressed with our lunch that we cancelled our reservation at another reputed Copenhagen restaurant to try it out and we were thrilled with the decision. Once again service was second to none with young, friendly staff and a brilliant manager to make us feel incredibly welcome - with well balanced attentiveness that only adds to the experience. The food deserves its own review. Fantastic wouldn't even begin to cover it. Finally the decor of the restaurant and hotel in general is a charming combination of its historical roots as an old storage mill with masive exposed oak beamwork set against characteristically stylish Scandinavian interiors. We paid our visit from Dec 25-26, so we had the added benefit of their effortlessly elegant Christmas decorations throughout the lobby.
Review 11:The junior suite OK but furniture slightly old and without a lot of taste, for the price, at the time we stayed we payed CHF 400 for 1 night. The bathroom is very small, quite old style. We stayed there for New Year's Eve period and for 2 days there was a very strong wind in Copenhagen, and it was literally freezing in the room. There is only one heating spot near the window for the whole suite that is in duplex, so freezing in the bathroom and being in bed under the duvet you could feel the wind coming on your face...not that pleasant. Also walls too thin, you could hear the neighbours talking..
Review 12:The location is perfect. We had a junior suite located on the last floor view on the water, so no outside noise. The lobby and bar is wonderful with old wood and very cozy. Breakfast is very good, a lot of choice, but unfortunately not included in the price. The beds were very confortable but unfortunately with 2 mattress.
Review 13:It can be sort of pricy, and the price even doesn't include breakfast. The breakfast is nice and rich in variety, but expensive though. And the corridor upstairs smells a bit mouldy, better ventilation work can be done about it.
Review 14:The location is superb, in the middle of all attractions, right next to Amalienborg and the Marble church. We happened to see the royal guard changing ceremony when we got there. The beautiful Nyhyvn is only a block away. The statue of little mermaid is within easy walking distance in the other direction, which is a pleasant walk along the beach and garden. The room is spacious and very comfy. We had a most nice sleep there during our two-week trip in Scandinavia. And the staff is nice and polite. I will definitely choose this hotel again next time.
Review 15:Bathrooms could do with a little updating.
Review 16:The excellent attitude of staff towards it's guests and the sensitive nature of the renovation of an old building.
Review 17:Room was small and a bit cold. Amenities were not sufficient, there were no cotton, q-tip, slippers etc.
Review 18:Location is suberb, short walking distance to metro and Nyhavn.
Review 19:Family rooms (junior suites) with loft sleeping space should have protection, so that the young kids can't fall down the stairs.
Review 20:Perfect location. Beautiful hotel. Good service.
Review 21:A four star hotel should be able to give guests toothpaste if they need it! Instead they have a vending machine. Not good. Sound travels between rooms and is disturbing. First a couple was fighting loudly and then when watching TV (!) we heard the neighbor snoring (all night). That's not good sound proofing and frankly unacceptable.
Review 22:If I had to pick anything it would be the size of the balcony but given the structure big balconies would be hard to include
Review 23:Everything, our stay couldn't have been better!
Review 24:We wanted a late check out but there was a cost. Not good service when we had been there three nights and taken part in New Year Gala evening.
Review 25:Excellent New Year Gala evening well organised, good food and drink and fun. Helpful staff.
Review 26:Booked deluxe room, a little disappointed as the room was smaller than we would expect and the bathroom was very much smaller than we expect.
Review 27:Location on harbour front, friendly staff, nice lobby and bar area. Within easy walking distance of restaurants and bars.
Review 28:* Quite expensive for food and drink but on par with similar hotels in Copenhagen
Review 29:* Excellent bar with knowlegeable staff * Location * Lovely rooms with sitting areas
Review 30:As others have commented the wall insulation leaves something to be desired. Also ridiculous instructions not to put anything else in the fridge.
Review 31:Great views from onto the waterfront and new opera house. Very easy to get to and from via metro. Comfortable furnishings.
Review 32:Have nothing bad to say about this hotel. Had a fantastic stay.
Review 33:Location was great, central with good access to local attractions. Plenty of restaurants at walking distance. Size of room was great, the bed very very comfortable, the toilets are clean and comfortable, design of the hotel is very special and in good taste. Breakfast had large variety of items all very good. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable.
Review 34:Breakfast was expensive. The beams in the rooms very much in the way, danger of bumping your head if you got up in the night!
Review 35:The hotel was pleasant and in a good location.
Review 36:The restaurant's staff was very bad (mistaken order many times, forgotten dishes) although the food was good.
Review 37:Architectiral design and comfortable room; good staff.
Review 38:The decor in the rooms, we had a deluxe double room and if only few small things had been upgraded it would have been my top hotel, the sofas and carpets etc felt really dated :(
Review 39:Staff were very friendly and the decor downstairs is very nice
Review 40:I really like this hotel, especially because it's eco-friendly and allergy-friendly! And also because it's located very close both to the airport and to the city centre & the best cultural attractions.
Review 41:Rooms were a little warm and walls thin.
Review 42:Lovely character building next to the waterfront. Great for visiting Nyhavn and not too far to the Little Mermaid. Comfortable bed to rest after a long day of sightseeing.
Review 43:The service in Salt was particularly slow, which was disappointing. However, each course was very tasty and the ambience relaxing.
Review 44:The room was very comfortable, warm and clean and the hotel overall very beautiful.
Review 45:Limited parking space and expensive, should be free to park outside at premises of hotel.
Review 46:Lovely room with tiny balcony. Nice bar area altough very crowded. Great location.
Review 47:The walls are quite thin so we could hear our neighbours. Room also got quite hot and stuffy thoughout the night.
Review 48:Staff were so friendly and helpful. Room was lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable. Great location right near Nyhavn and short walk or bike ride to the main attractions. Breakfast was amazing and great value.
Review 49:The staff were friendly and always helpful. I love the atmosphere, the feeling of history, and the exposed timber beams. The room was perfect. Breakfast was delicious, with so many options to choose from! A wonderful location! I was able to walk everywhere that I wanted to go.
Review 50:The restaurant SALT was terrible. There are also tons of restaurants nearby, especially on Nyhavn.
Review 51:The location to Nyhavn was less than 5 minutes. And their is a little market on the street corner across from the hotel.
Review 52:Not a bad experience, but a) room service could not deliver specific request, eg. only full continental bf - that said, SALT bf has everything b) lobby bar was out of stock on several basic items from menu c) house keeping was ok, and real great a few days (out of 5 days stay) d) missing a shower cabin
Review 53:Great location and Friendly staff. Have been at this hotel before and it will stay on our Copenhagen preference list
Review 54:Nothing
Review 55:A wonderful hotel with a warm and great atmosphere. We had a very confortable room on two floors with a lot if characther and a lovely view of the water. Perfecly located - 5 minutes walking to Ny Havn. Professional and helpful staff. Excellellent the restaurant of the hotel 'Salt' and we enjoyed the bar of the hotel. Definetely a hotel to come back.
Review 56:It doesn't value the 200 euro for night at all. The room was little, not perfectly clean, the bathroom small without a confortable shower andin the wall there were some little hole that leave some srafts enter. Atthe end we hate the fact the bed was divided and not unite. 20 euro forone breakfast is a theft.
Review 57:The building it's Amazing, an old granary based inside the Port, renovated with an excellent work.
Review 58:we stayed here for three nights, but the hotel did not provide us new towels! it's really disgusting to use the same towels for three nights!
Review 59:good location, nice staff, delicious breakfast and dinner.
Review 60:The double bed, was 2 single beds, with single duvets. So not ideal. When we asked about a proper duvet we were advised they only had singles. Room was next to the elevator ( you heard it all day) and the walls were not noise insulated so we heard people talking through the walls, tv from other rooms and our upstairs neighbours enjoying themselves physically, which was not ideal. Felt like more of a cheap hotel in that sense rather than a 4/5star one.
Review 61:Location was excellent. People were very friendly. Rooms were very clean and tidy. Every day was pleasent. We enjoyed the Rustic feel of the hotel also with the wooden beams etc. The TV had some english language programs (as well as every other european language) which was good at the end of the night when we were tired and it was raining outside.
Review 62:Receptionist tried to get us to pay for an upgrade, when we declined she gave us an upgrade for free but put us directly above the bar, loud and persistent music from the bar prevented sleep until very late every night
Review 63:Location
Review 64:Our room was next to the elevator which you could hear at night. Room was very small as if I were in Hong Kong and for my taste too expensive for the standard and renovation level.
Review 65:The room needs a bit of upgrading and a better soundproofing system.
Review 66:The hotel has a very strategic position, walking distance to the main attractions.
Review 67:Very noisy if you stay over the function area. Music goes to 1am in the morning and guests who smoke will stand outside the front door resulting in a lot of noise when you are trying to sleep
Review 68:Good location
Review 69:Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a harbour view which was nice. Ideally situated (2 minutes) from the bars and restaurants of Nyhavn. Short walk to the Metro and Stroget. Happily recommend this hotel
Review 70:Checkout experience was a mess No organization, people jumping the line, and no respecting other people being serviced, staff trying to service both questions at same time instead of focus finishing the first guest Except mentioned, it was pleasant experience staying at the admiral hotel
Review 71:Great breakfast
Review 72:Hotel is very old and seems like they haven't renewed the rooms for a long time. House keeping was poor, room cleaning was not made as what it should be. Room price should include the breakfast.
Review 73:Rooms need a little more sound proofing!
Review 74:Staff excellent, food very good, location superb. This hotel has a very good feel about it - a really enjoyable stay
Review 75:would appreciate a double mattress, double duvet too. Towels in bathroom slightly worn. Could use upgrade in bathrooms.
Review 76:The view from the room, the decor and friendly staff.
Review 77:All the staff, location, breakfast, hygiene, everything was superb. 100% sure We will be back to Copenhagen and we are going to stay @ Admiral. Perfect, just perfect!
Review 78:The car parking area was not at its best.
Review 79:The beautiful mix between old and new style. The warm and welcoming atmosphere. The tastefully decorated christmas trees.
Review 80:Very noisy in the evening. We were on the fourth floor and the noise form the party on the ground floor was loud in the room. Restaurant was very pricey. Double bed was two single beds pushed together with two single duvets, this is apparently what a double bed is like in Denmark.
Review 81:Excellent location, friendly staff. Room service provided good service.
Review 82:The bed is horrible for double bed but they use single bed put it together, it's not right thing to do for 4 stars hotel like this!
Review 83:That hotel policy about the minibar was to high technology, even we don't drink it but we remove it out it already charge your money :) so beware...
Review 84:Never enough staff on reception
Review 85:Location , great place as easy to walk everywhere. Lovely rooms , comfortable . Although it's a large hotel , still feels quite personal & friendly.
Review 86:No vegetarian dinners. Had to go out to eat, and even then it is very difficult to find a restaurant in Copenhagen that serves vegetarian food
Review 87:Very nice hotel, had a good room overlooking he harbour. We will be back.
Review 88:Do not assume that a table at dinner will be available ( we could not obtain on a Saturday evening). Bathrooms a little tired and towels less than white. Reception staff are cool and do not seem to wish to engage.
Review 89:Complimentary upgrade (in knowledge that there would be loud music downstairs first night). Characterful rooms with beams and blankets. Enjoyed ability to open sliding door to outside and fresh air (mini balcony). Took breakfast one day and was varied and of good quality. Nice restoration of old building, very good location for walking to many focal points.
Review 90:the room was failry small, bathroom very small but small issues in a very nice hotel!
Review 91:Amazing breakfast, the bed is the most comfortable hotelbed i've ever slept in, the duvet and pillows are thick and lucious, staff is great!
Review 92:We had a great stay. Fabulous food in Salt restaurant, great drinks at the bar, friendly and helpful staff and the most comfortable beds and bedding! Good location, 2 minutes from Nyhavn and less than 10 minutes walk from the Metro.
Review 93:Took room upgrade to secure high floor and water view, didn't tell you scaffolding blocking view. Disappointing. Beds were far too soft leading to significant discomfort
Review 94:Great location and buffet breakfast
Review 95:The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, amazing service all around. The room was a good size, very cozy and clean, with a super comfortable bed. Loved the breakfast as well. Great location and easy to find and a gorgeous hotel all around.
Review 96:For some reason, the hallways were cluttered with hotel supplies in the middle. Maybe they don't have anywhere else to put supplies??
Review 97:Historic building, great location. Our room looked out on water and the Opera House.
Review 98:There were a lot of road works being done close to the hotel and the harbour side, meaning that some roads were closed, and it was quite noisy.
Review 99:Lovely hotel, really close to Nyhavn
Review 100:My room was next to the elevator and there was some noise from the elevator.
Review 101:Location facing the water and good possibility to run. Central but no traffic. Nice breakfast buffe.
Review 102:Junior suite had stairs to sleeping area that were ridiculously steep. Small bathroom with shower over bath and shower curtain, bathroom smelt from floor drain.
Review 103:Good location, attractive foyer.
Review 104:The hotel does NOT offer free parking, and entire place is owned by Q-Park, who charged DKK140.- from Sunday night 10pm to 9AM. This should be clearly stated so customers have the option to find other hotels with parking. Pillow was not good. Hotel room was ICY cold when we arrived and had not been prepared, and we could not heat up properly even until next day when we left, with heater on max... Toilet is without toothbrush, and only 1 piece of soap like all other hotels globally... No slippers in the room. We booked Deluxe room, but there was nothing deluxe about it...??? Very noisy early morning, from garbage trucks outside... The "Double Queen Size Bed", was somehow two small narrow beds put together, not making it possible to move much to either side without having the space between the beds popping up... Not good.
Review 105:Location is perfect. It's possible to park your car. Bed and bed sheets quality were good. Wifi connection was good.
Review 106:Being invited to 'upgrade' (paid) then finding scaffolding and work outside the window. The amount of construction in the local area is a bit of a pain. And taking SO long to complete.
Review 107:Location on the harbour, access to transport, ambience of surrounding area. Good restaurants nearby.
Review 108:Room had amazing wooden features but definitely needs a renovation. Also you extect from the pictures amazing sea view but we didn't get any which was such a letdown.
Review 109:Great historic building at excellent location. Staff very professional and we were pleasantly surprised uppon arrival as we were upgraded to a junior suit.
Review 110:Rooms were small with limited Windows so it was stuffy and not a lot of area circulating.
Review 111:Great location within walking distance of port and downtown area
Review 112:At reception on day of arrival we got an offer for an upgrade of our room for 30 euro's per night: View on Water side. They forgot the scaffolding witch covered the whole building. Besides almost “no view” on the water we suffered also nightly walkers on the scaffolding. There was no sense of safety at all in that aspect. Anybody could enter the scaffolding visiting the hotel rooms by the open windows.
Review 113:All good apart from the fact we notice the pillows did not have pillow protectors on them, which we feel they should have as part of basic cleanliness
Review 114:Lovely rooms, very clean and comfortable. Fabulous breakfasts
Review 115:We did not have any bad experience at all.
Review 116:The Staff were so helpful, so friendly, Great English. My pillow and duvet were perfect, what I would expect from my own home. Thank you. The food was delicious.
Review 117:The room had a blue old style carpet which is not properly stylish, as the leather armachair. The general furniture is a bit outdated and is not worth of hotel of this price and category; not to mention the plastic curtain of the bath/shower... The bath set is essential; I had forgotten my toothbrush and toothpaste, so I asked a dental set at the concierge but I had to pay for it. Again, this is something you do not expect in a four star hotel.
Review 118:The location is perfect, just 5 minutes away from Nyhavn canal and restaurant. The hotel is located on the harbour but the view is nothing special and at the time of our stay there were some maintenance works just out of our window. The Deluxe room was big enough. The hotel is located in a former granary and is rather impressive
Review 119:A lot of Copenhagen is under construction at the moment , new Metro being built, and we looked out on a building site. It was also noisy from 7.30am.
Review 120:Location was great for walking from the door to see all main sites and eat in cosy restaurants. The hotel room was spacious and had wonderful old beams that gave character. Restaurant food was innovative and good.
Review 121:There is a lot of building work going on near the hotel which is a pain but this is a general problem in Copenhagen. The rooms are typical of Scandinavia - ie quite small but well designed and maintained. My only real complaint was the lack of plug sockets - only 1 'spare' socket, not great when I had 3 things needing to be charged overnight
Review 122:Quiet good location
Review 123:- room was tiny - bathroom was old and tiny - room was too hot with no air-con - poor coffee facilities in room - builders next to room - started at 8am on Monday having been told 9am - public areas looking a bit tired
Review 124:- location (close to water and harbour, view facing new opera house. Bit further out but in very stylish neighbourhood with lots of interesting bars and restaurants) - beautiful conversion of old warehouse, characterful but with modern style - room was well furnished and stylish - staff were generally helpful and friendly
Review 125:First, we're told our room will be ready by 11am, then - at 11am - another receptionist told us it's not ready and we have to go somewhere and wait until 2pm, 30 minutes later the room was ready (told by another receptionist after decided to ask before going out) - not a kind of service you would expect for the money paid.
Review 126:Location is great, can easily walk to most of the attractions in the city center. Beautiful building.
Review 127:On two of the three nights, and the Saturday more than the Sunday, we could hear a lot of noise from another room. The breakfast was expensive ar 145 kroner.
Review 128:We had a room overlooking the canal which we were very happy about. Outside there was a lot of work taking place but we were aware this when we booked.
Review 129:Lovely hotel, with beautiful old beams everywhere. I loved the ship models that were in the hall ways and reception too! Great breakfast, helpful staff and very comfortable beds!
Review 130:This is tagged as a five star hotel and prices reflect this. However, the room had a shower only a deluxe room in a five star hotel should have a bath and seperate shower. We were a couple and there was only one chair in the room.
Review 131:Location was fantastic.
Review 132:Wind blowing in from badly fixed window frames in both rooms. Need generally upgrading.Management may sleep a little too much on former reputation as top class hotel.
Review 133:Nice View. Nice building and deco.
Review 134:Thin walls - had to listen to a very loud performance from the couple in the adjacent room - nothing left to imagination.
Review 135:Lovely hotel in a great location
Review 136:There was building work going on in the harbour, nothing to do with the hotel though!
Review 137:The hotel is beautiful, cosy and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent.
