Reviews for Winzerhaus Gärtner - An der Loreley

Review 1:Very friendly and helpful staff. . It is near a busy trainlline but we knew that before we arrived so not a problem. The e bike hire was great. Good value 2 night stay.

Review 2:According to the prize you get great value for the money. Nice clean rooms with free wifi. Very nice and helpful staff and the breakfast was very good. Have visited a musicfestival here 8 years and this is my best staying.

Review 3:noise from passing trains. unfortunately all hotels in the area suffered the same issue because it's just a small strip of land sandwiched between the mountain and the river.

Review 4:location, value for money, friendly staff, free private parking.

Review 5:Train was loud, but my kids were keeping me up anyway

Review 6:The staff was great, the view was lovely, food delicious, and the walk to town very pleasant. I would definitely stay again.

Review 7:Only complaint is that it was unusually hot this summer and the rooms do not have AC. Generally this wouldn't have been an issue. Did cool down very nicely at night though.

Review 8:The staff was wonderful. We also loved dinner there. The food was delicious!! And the location is great!

Review 9:Passing trains and cars can be a little bit annoying at night, if you leave the windows open.

Review 10:Great location, very helpful and kind staff, breakfast was really nice. Restaurant was also good, though we tried it only once.

Review 11:When it gets warm, it's really warm! The rising sun shines full on into front facing bathrooms. Curtains work well to blackout the bedroom and double-glazed windows reduce the noise really well but then the room gets exceptionally hot. We slept well anyway as we were out walking all day but this could all be a bit of a challenge if you sleep poorly. No fridge.

Review 12:Really friendly staff; great breakfasts; evening meals available; direct view of the Loreley rock and river Rhine. Property has been nicely refurbished. This point in the Rhine valley squeezes all buildings between the river and major road on one side and the very busy rail line on the other: can't be avoided.

Review 13:The trains run all day and night near the hotels...can be hard to sleep, but part of the charm of the Rhine.

Review 14:Nice view of the water with all the boats coming and going. Nice to walk around and enjoy the scenery.

Review 15:Nothing

Review 16:Very clean, comfortable and good breakfast. Great views over the Rhine to watch the world go by. Easy stroll by the river to the Town with nice choice of bars and restaurants.

Review 17:Not really in town so pain if you are backpacker and have to make the 1km walk several times and figure out bag storage when leaving.

Review 18:Great internet, nice bed, free mineral water.

Review 19:Location was excellent lovely walk into main shopping area access to riverboat, ferry and train station. View of the Rhine from window with footpaths and cycle paths. Food at hotel excellent especially the breakfast. Good service throughout.

Review 20:Overlooking the Rhine was affected by a large camping area on the shore. There is also a train running on both sides of the Rhine, although it was mostly tunnelled near our hotel.

Review 21:Proximity to St Goar, Ruedesheim, ferry services, and the comfort of the hotel

Review 22:We had a lovely break here in a family apartment. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Restaurant was also very good value in the evening. Yes, there is a railway nearby but we didn't really hear it.

Review 23:Some noise from the very close railway line - rooms on the front might be better.

Review 24:Great views. On-site parking, easy walk into town along riverside footpath. Helpful and very hard-working staff. Comfortable bed. Good value food. Oranges freshly squeezed at breakfast buffet.

Review 25:Limited and hurried food choice as chef departing when we arrived shortly after 8 p.m. Salad consisted of just a few lettuce leaves & saurkraut. Noise from two train lines, river traffic and cars at night - could perhaps be improved by increased insulation as location otherwise very good.

Review 26:View from room, restaurant and terrace, cleanliness, breakfast, outside seating, good sized car park, bottle of water in room on arrival

Review 27:We had dinner there one night and although the food was excellent, it took a very long time for my meal to arrive - 40 minutes after my friends meals had arrived. Would still recommend it.

Review 28:There was a group of 3 of us and one of our friends insisted on camping, so I found this hotel right in front of her campsite. It was very luxurious room with twin beds in one room and a single bed in another, so the person that shared the room with me had his own space.

Review 29:It was near the train line and a 15 minute walk into town but still worth the location because of Loreley and the view of the Rhine River.

Review 30:Jacob was an excellent host. Excellent view of Loreley.

Review 31:The service was excellent & the staff was very friendly and accommodating. They were very helpful with sightseeing, directions, & information. Location of hotel was great. St. Goar is a quaint little town right on the Rhine with wonderful views of the river & castles.

Review 32:Near train tracks and the trains run all night. However, this is true of virtually the entire town of Sankt Goar, so it's not particular to this hotel.

Review 33:Very clean and modern. Staff was very helpful.

Review 34:The weather-for the time of year(wet for summer)

Review 35:Unpretentious and relaxing environment both indoors and out with first-class location and friendly service. No need for car to explore local township/s or reach ferry landing on Rhine. Good restaurant offered or select from others locally within short distance on foot.

Review 36:No lift. Difficult taking luggage up 3 flights of stairs. Too quiet at night, everything closed by 10 unless there was a Germany world cup match on tv.

Review 37:Location on bank of Rhine. Friendly staff, excellent breakfasts.

Review 38:Nothing at all - our favourite hotel this trip

Review 39:Great location, lovely rooms and a nice view. This hotel is small, friendly and classy. The food is excellent and reasonably priced and the staff very friendly and helpful

Review 40:Loved this little gem on the Rhine. It's a quick drive to St Goar and a great stop along the Rhine. Quiet, plenty of parking, incredible breakfast, wifi.

Review 41:Room in eaves, ceiling very close to my head in bed. Barges can be heard all night as well as railway traffic , lines run behind hotel and on other side of river.

Review 42:Ample parking Excellent hotel restaurant Wonderful breakfast

Review 43:Can get a bit noisy between the rooms, and the trains going past at night

Review 44:Staff were very friendly, really enjoyed our stay

Review 45:Was a hot day, location between railway and road was very noisy with open windows.

Review 46:Nice view of the Rhine. Clean. Good breakfast.

Review 47:Next to the railway and road, it was very noisy and very hard to sleep.

Review 48:My room a bit on the small side

Review 49:The restaurant Big juice machine at breakfast

Review 50:We loved this place. Staff were excellent, food was great and room large, clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Review 51:Can be noisy due to nearby railway lines.

Review 52:Comfortable hotel, well sited and excellent food.

Review 53:the location

Review 54:The staff seemed completely uninterested in me as a customer.

Review 55:The location is good, particularly if you like watching ships go by.

Review 56:train was noisy when we had the window open, but we closed it when we went to sleep and I never heard a thing all night

Review 57:Can be noisy at night because of the railway line, barges on the river and the road

Review 58:Lovely part of the Rhein river

Review 59:Good view of river, staff very pleasant and spoke English. Hotel clean and meals good. Overall good value

Review 60:No elevator

Review 61:View of the river, excellent breakfast

Review 62:Good location, short walk into St Goar, perfect view of Loreley gorge with interesting river traffic. Staff helpful.

Review 63:The hotel is very clean and staff very friendly. Great location and food.

Review 64:Excellent evening meal and breakfast. Staff couldn't be more helpful, room overlooking river was great

Review 65:Staff were amazing, friendly and very helpful. Our room was comfortable well maintained.

Review 66:Good breakfast. Helpful staff.

Review 67:great staff.

Review 68:Conveniently placed opposite on the outskirts of Sankt Goar (10 min walk to the centre), just opposite Loreley Peaceful, lazy atmosphere Exemplary staff attitude

Review 69:The hotel lies between the highway and train tracks (most places in St. Goar do). It didn't bother us at all but it might some people.

Review 70:I can't say enough about the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. We've travelled in Europe for a month and felt immediately "at home" here. They went out of their way to accommodate us, storing my medicine in the bar fridge and my freezer packs in their freezer. They even gave us a number for an ambulance "just in case" no one was around and I had an emergency in the night. We had a wonderful dinner on the outdoor patio, and enjoyed a great breakfast (included) the next morning. Loved this place!

Review 71:We upgraded to a Rhine River View room on the first floor, which was nice, but the room was not very special. Also, hotel is near train tracks, which were very busy tracks.

Review 72:Location was very quaint and so was the hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 73:The hotel is 1 km away from the train station in Sankt Goar (about 30minutes walk). So if you didn't drive coming in, you better strapthose hiking boots on!

Review 74:Excellent breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice. Nice and cleanrooms. The hotel is on top of the restaurant. Nice Rhine River view butthe hotel is close to the railroad tracks but if the windows are closedyou can barely hear the trains.

Review 75:Need more surfaces to place luggage.

Review 76:Clean & comfortable rooms. Staff very helpful. Breakfast had ample choices in pleasant restaurant. Rooms quiet despite train tracks in rear (most hotels along this section of Rhine have trains passing close by). Large shower. No air conditioning although evenings were cool. Front rooms view the Loreley across the river. Free parking. A 20 minute walk to St. Goar and KD Line ship dock.

Review 77:There was quite a bit of noise from the road so we couldn't open the window at night which made it a bit hot.

Review 78:very friendly staff, very helpful and also spoke excellent English. Hotel was comfortable, clean and the family room was very big and well laid out with plenty of space. It's about 10 mins walk to the centre of St Goar along the Rhine. Spectacular views along the way. Easy to find.

Review 79:Germany has been experiencing a very warm summer, and no fans were available to help move the air in our rooms. Our friends' room had a window which was next to the outside lighted sign. The sign buzzed all night and attracted insects. They could not open that window for air. Our room was top floor, under the eaves and very warm all night. The windows were not situated well to get a cross breeze to cool the room. Staff did not offer electric fans, nor screens over the windows. Very bad night of sleep. We won't be back.

Review 80:Ample parking, the terrace and bier garten were nice. Breakfast was fine, but limited in selection we thought.

Review 81:We had trouble sleeping because of hot weather and no aircondition. We could not open the windows to chill because of the disturbing noise from the train line and main road.

Review 82:Nicely located by the Rhine. Friendly personal.

Review 83:It is far from town, not really in St Goar. The view from the room was a RV Park.

Review 84:The staff and dinner house were excellent. The meal was the best schnitzel we had while visiting Germany.

Review 85:Lack of lift - long haul to 3rd floor with heavy cases. Staff need to write down meal orders. First night dinner for 2 resulted in 2 incorrect main courses but we enjoyed them anyway. Had to ask twice for coffee. Second night desert course and requested coffee were initially overlooked. Room was tiny with nowhere to store cases. Worst feature has to be the very busy railway line immediately behind he hotel.

Review 86:Location/views. Price. Despite my negative comments this was an enjoyable stay as the staff were so friendly.

Review 87:Trains behind the property can be occassionally disturbing.

Review 88:Family-run hotel with high standards. Fantastic views across the Rhine and surrounding countryside. Great location to explore area.

Review 89:Any hotel on the Rhine can be noisy because the train line and main road share the strip of land along both riverbanks and the river barge engines are noisy. The train noise in this hotel was disturbing though mitigated by the double glazing. When choosing a hotel, it pays to look at a detailed map as the train is sometimes masked by a tunnel or runs at the back of a town.

Review 90:Good value and decent food available. Good views of the Rhine from the Terrace and to a lesser extent from the room.

Review 91:Great location on the Rhine. The food was excellent at the restaurant in the hotel. We ate there every night. The staff was delightful, especially Haider and Isabella.

Review 92:The hotel was located about 3/4 mile from St Goar and therailway station but the walk was pleasant - this may be a problemfor some people.

Review 93:The location overlooked the Rhine. There was an outside garden where wecould sit. Our room was light and airy with a view of the Rhine andmost important, the beds were comfortable. There was plenty of walkingin the area.

Review 94:Small room when booking form said larger than standard room. No bottom sheet -just rough mattress cover. Evening staff could not place a call to Osnabruck Germany.

Review 95:Location. View of Rhine.

Review 96:The resturant. It was terrible. I had lived in Germany for 10 years in the past and this was the worst. Breakfast was fine but other than that do not eat there. It was too far to walk into St Goar.

Review 97:The view.

Review 98:Everything! In particular the young man who appears to run the place. He did everything from putting our bikes in a safe place when we arrived, taking us and our bags to the lovely room, with fantastic views of the Rhine Gorge.Later he translated the menu in the restaurant ( the food is delicious & good value too). Nothing appeared to be too much trouble for the staff in this lovely little hotel.

Review 99:A little noisy at times with the train and other guests moving in the corridor, but not a big issue.

Review 100:Beautiful view of the Rhein. Room was spacious and clean, staff very friendly, wi-fi strong, breakfast plentiful. The restaurant was really good and well priced. The location is great for exploring the area.

Review 101:The is railway just behind the hotel and another in the opposite river bank. The trains are very loudy. So if you are sleeping ligt it could be a problem.

Review 102:the staff is very friendly and this is very good hotel for the Rhein`s sightseeing

Review 103:The position is perfect, watching the barges along the Rhine from our bedroom window was very restful. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the room modern, functional and clean. Good breakfast, all at a reasonable price.

Review 104:Would do with a kettle in the room to prepare hot drink in the evening

Review 105:Winzerhouse Gärtner is an easy to find, wonderful place to stay. It has one of the most stunning views in this area of Rhine – Lorelay rock. The whole place seems to look nice and modern with light décor. Our room was specious, very clean and modern and it looked like it has recently been decorated to a very high standard. Bed was comfortable; bathroom was also very big and it even provided a stunning view. We didn’t hear any of the noise from nearby railway track while in our room (front room facing the river – No.14) but maybe rooms facing it can experience the problem. We really liked the room and the only thing we could have wished for would be a tea and coffee making facilities to make ourselves nice cups of tea after all the sightseeing in the evening but it was missing in 2 more other German hotels we stayed in so maybe it is something they just don’t do. Toiletries and even slippers were available in the room as you would expect from a good hotel. There is free wi-fi in the whole hotel – you only need to obtain the password at reception which is valid for 24h.The lady at reception was very friendly and helpful, it wasn’t too much trouble for her to prepare the sauna for us even as late as 9pm. Sauna is well worth checking out and makes the stay a bit more special than other hotels. Bit pricy as it costs 8 euros per person but it is lovely. You can have it all to yourself. There is specious sauna, shower room with different shower attachments, even this big bucket you can fill with cold water and shower yourself with it, there is even a waterbed to relax after session in sauna and you can chill for as long as you want (usually 2h) while listening to nice relaxing music. Bathrobes, towels and slippers are all provided while you are using it – nice touch. Hotel has nice looking restaurant with stunning views and is probably busy and open in the main season but we have only used it at breakfast.

Review 106:Absolutely fantastic hotel. The staff were wonderful, the view of the Rhine relaxing, the room clean and comfortable and the hotel really close to the town center--a lovely place for a relaxing stay.

Review 107:Excellent value for money with very helpful staff and a great location.

Review 108:poor wifi reception

Review 109:good location great view

Review 110:Lack of English translation of room information pack

Review 111:Excellent value for money and friendly staff

Review 112:Very helpful staff. Breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon and freshly squeezed orange juice.

Review 113:Nothing.

Review 114:Friendly staff, and the perfect location.

Review 115:breakfast is quite delicious。

Review 116:Could be a little bit cheaper.

Review 117:View of Rhine.

Review 118:The heated bathroom floor, the friendly staff, and the amazing view from our room!

Review 119:Comfortable with friendly, efficient staff and an excellent restaurant all set in the heart of the Rhein Gorge.

Review 120:room was great, staff were great, a short walk to st goar definitely go back and recommend

Review 121:No air conditioning

Review 122:location, parking facilities, friendly and helpful staff Had an evening meal which was excellent
