Reviews for Hotel Alhambra

Review 1:Nothing really.

Review 2:- great location in the center of La Orotava (away from mass tourism in the south of the island, but close to Teide and many other sights) - great view over Teide, the Orotava Valley and the ocean - cozy, spacious rooms and beautiful common areas, perfect for relaxing

Review 3:The Spanish colonial style manor combined grandeur with homely comforts. The staff, wonderful views over the sea and towards Teide, delicious and wholesome breakfasts made for a perfect break away from London.

Review 4:Nothing

Review 5:This is a peaceful and welcoming hotel that feels more like a grand family home. The manager could not have been more helpful and entertaining, breakfast was excellent and the rooms very spacious and comfortable. Orotava is not a huge town but it is very picturesque and easy to navigate with enough to entertain for two or three days. When eating out do try 'Tapias' the food is excellent and the staff very friendlt

Review 6:Bed wasn't comfortable.

Review 7:The place, great service, the room, overall facilities. Jordi, the owner, cared a lot about us, and helped in every way possible.

Review 8:Access to the hotel on arrival was a little difficult. It is an old building without double glazing so noise from outside was sometimes an issue - there are three different church clocks and, when we were there in spring, frogs calling all evening.

Review 9:The hotel is very atmospheric and spacious. Rooms are large and well furnished; no noise from other residents at all. There is a small pool in a pleasant small garden, though too cold to swim when we were there.

Review 10:It was so unique the hotel is so nice the owner is so kind with many explanations The interior and rooms very impressive. Great view from superior rooms כמו ארמון הרחק מההתחלה של פוארטו דה להכריז בית מלון קטן ונעים

Review 11:We will probably never stay in such a hotel again! Amazing interior and very comfortable bedroom looking out over the swimming pool. Senor Fernandez Giner was extremely welcoming and spent a lot of time explaining the history of the building and the works of Maître Otazzo. We can thoroughly recommend the Alhambra!

Review 12:Stunning architecture and artwork. Located in the heart of the hugely atmospheric old city, this small hotel has it all - beautiful views, large rooms and even larger bathrooms, beautiful public rooms and free parking. Highly recommended.

Review 13:Splendid hotel in a beautiful town Kind & perfect service with a real care about customer's wellness by a warden who loves his hotel & makes us love it Staying in Alhambra hotel is really a part of the holidays

Review 14:Real lack of quality restaurants nearby.

Review 15:Shared breakfast table, decor and helpful staff

Review 16:beautiful Location enthusiasm of the owner Hotel a Little museum

Review 17:No problems, exactly as expected.

Review 18:Friendly people, easy to park and a good location from which to explore Oratava, Mt Teide, and Puerta Cruz.

Review 19:Great location in lovely building, friendly staff, good breakfast, excellent recommendations for dinner, and parking!

Review 20:Parking, lack of.

Review 21:Breakfast. Comfort of room. Friendliness of staff.

Review 22:La Oratava is a very old city, just what we did expect. We wanted just to take a good look around the area. We would go again to the Hotel but would drive away from La Oratava. Gloria and Phil Hitchock. From Hertfordshire.

Review 23:The Hotel was just fabulous and the owner very accommodating . The facilities at this Hotel were 100 per cent perfection. The frescos were fantastic and the whole decor takes your breath away. Breakfast was everything you would need.

Review 24:Decor does not quite hit the mark, tending towards 'old fashioned Bed and Breakfast' atmosphere, rather than boutique hotel. Note: being on the North Coast, the town is frequently shrouded in fog.

Review 25:Peaceful location in old town, some excellent restaurants nearby (eg the Victoria) Fantastic bathroom. We appreciate the (over) enthusiasm of the Owner!

Review 26:The landlord representative is a great person to meet and talk. You will soon find yourself understanding Spanish and the information provided are of a great value

Review 27:Beautiful surroundings, very relaxing place to stay with fantastic views of Teide and the coast. Interesting paintings and the whole place has a lot of character. Our 2nd stay here and we will definately be back.

Review 28:We did not have more time to really enjoy the hotel and La Orotava.

Review 29:Beautiful old house in a fabulous old city. Fantastic paintings and frescos. No restaurant but there are fabulous ones near bye.

Review 30:When paid the credit card conversion to ££s was automatic (and cost me about £30 extra for a week!)

Review 31:Room, bathroom and view. Also very quiet - no noise from other rooms.

Review 32:it was loud from highway traffic.

Review 33:Great hosts. Great breakfast. Very accommodating of our dietary requirements. Very comfortable room with a great bathroom. Fantastic view to Teide and the ocean.

Review 34:Only downside was the slightly limited breakfast selection.

Review 35:Absolutely beautiful building, great welcome from knowledgeable host, art, furnishings, peaceful.

Review 36:- Family-run and very friendly and welcoming owners - Spacious, well-appointed room with lovely view - Beautiful shared areas with impressive art work and furniture - Peaceful location yet within easy walking distance of many good restaurants

Review 37:It is not interesting and tiring after a long journey to listen to the owner telling you about the pictures in the gallery in Spanish when you do not know the language. I think he should have leaflets in different languages so that people could read them when they want.

Review 38:The town! Oratava is a mixture of old Canaries and new Canaries. The old part is lovely but the new part spoils the town. Also we found difficulty in finding a restaurant to eat at night. They all seemed to close down at 8pm. In fact the whole town seems to close down at 8pm!

Review 39:The hotel was immaculate and extremely picturesque. The building itself is an old Spamish house with mature fixtures and fittings and lends itself to being a very relaxing hotel. The staff were very friendly and although they only spoke a little English, they on enough to be be able to communicate.

Review 40:The booking was for double bed but was 2 singles pushed together

Review 41:The hotel was in a great location and was something special in terms of architecture and exceptional artwork to some of walls/ceilings. This coupled with the staff friendliness made our stay very enjoyable.

Review 42:We found the breakfast rather disappointing. Although there was plenty of food the choice of cereals was very limited and the fresh fruit was the same every day. We would have liked to have more soft fruit and berries and also some fresh salad and tomatoes. The bread was packeted sliced bread and we would have preferred a variety of fresh local bread/ There were boiled eggs every day though no other cooked food. Some fresh local cheese again would have been nice in addition to the non local packeted varieties. This is not a complaint as such; just that with everything else being so lovely the breakfast in our opinion wasn't really quite up to the mark. Also the hot water in the bedroom was a bit unreliable on a couple of days.

Review 43:The hotel is situated in a wonderful 18th century arabic style house with a central courtyard. The bedroom and bathroom were enormous and we had a view down to the sea at Puerto de la Cruz and views of La Oratava. The bathroom is beautifully tiled with traditional Andalucian tiles. There are many lovely rooms in the house where one can sit, some filled with interesting paintings by a local artist. The swimming pool area is very nice although the pool is small. Lovely music wafts through the house during the day giving atmosphere but never intrusive. The owner of the hotel and his wife are very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to help with planning trips around the area. All in all a very good place to unwind and a good centre for touring this part of the island.

Review 44:this small hotel was very relaxing with fantastic views of mount teide and the sea. The staff were very welcoming and it was more like a home from home.

Review 45:Wished we could have stayed longer, especially to take advantage of the enticing pool.

Review 46:Beautiful, comfortable rooms; friendly and helpful staff; unique historic Alhambra-inspired building; hearty breakfast; pool; gorgeous gardens and view all the way to the sea; internet access; walking distance to historic sites in city. We were fortunate to receive a mesmerizing tour of the impressive art featured throughout the building.

Review 47:It is always a pleasure to explore a working town but La Ortavia needs to make more effort to inform tourists of its many attractions. There was a a limited number of decent restaurant in which to eat in the evenings, although the Hotel Victoria had a wonderful chef who produced superb food.

Review 48:This is one of the loveliest and most unusual hotels we have ever stayed in. Jessica was a wonderful hostess and very helpful. the breakfasts were excellent and it was very friendly talking to other guests from different countries as we all sat around a big table.

Review 49:None.

Review 50:Warm, comfortable, very friendly staff. And a personal touch to it all. Please keep up the good work. I will come back, maybe a little longer next year.

Review 51:Staying one night on a short break on the island. Very unusual riad style building with spacious, comfortable rooms and a very friendly host. Lovely breakfast.

Review 52:The traditional style, furniture, artwork, views, room, huge tiled bathroom, eating breakfast in the conservatory, the welcome given by the owner, walking into La Oratava

Review 53:Thought quality of toiletries a bit poor, would have liked facility tomake drinks in our room. Probably a bit expensive but did not reallycompare to other hotels in the town. Option to have evening meal inhotel would have been nice as very little choice of restaurants in town.

Review 54:Beautiful building, very traditional and well cared for in centre of oldtown. Parking right outside hotel. Good sized room with superb bathroomin mosaic. Friendly and enthusiastic staff who despite not speakingEnglish managed to communicate very effectively. Lovely breakfast roomwhere everyone ate round a large table making for lively conversation.Very different from your average hotel and this was its charm.

Review 55:Location Oratava is a lovely town Hotel is very comfortableStaff/owners were really helpful View from room was excellent. Thestyle inside hotel is really good - see website. Big rooms We will goback without a doubt.

Review 56:This is a lovely small hotel. With only 5 rooms available to guests it's more like a (very upmarket) B&B with great facilities including a swimming pool and sun terrace. The house itself is really stunning; the decor is quirky and stylish with may rooms being furnished with art by a famous local artist. The family who own the Hotel Alhambra were welcoming and friendly and the town of La Oratava is really lovely and an interesting place to stroll around (with some good shopping!). Our room was at the back of the hotel and I loved sitting with the shutters flung open, in the window looking over the rooftops of the town (and listening to the church bells ring!) You may need earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

Review 57:A special place in a superb location.

Review 58:parking could be a problem

Review 59:lovely building

Review 60:A superb small hotel, centrally sited in this historic little town. Elegant, spacious - a unique experience.
