Reviews for Hotel Rural Victoria

Review 1:The staff was friendly and the room was so nice. Really authentic place to stay in La Orotava, a nice breakfast is included and it starts at 7am which was perfect for us.

Review 2:Parking.....not necessarily the hotels fault as parking is at a premium all over the island.

Review 3:What a wonderful place to stay right in the heart of the Historic town of La Orotava. It had the Canarian rustic charm you would expect for this type of building. Staff were courteous and polite and quickly accommodated any extra requests. Centrally situated on the North West coast of Tenerife gave us an excellent jump off point for our trips around the island. The room was excellent and true to the Canarian feel of the whole place. Breakfast was high quality and with enough choice to satisfy anyone from any country. The hotel offered a Meal of the day which was excellent value but the day end late afternoon when it would revert to the evening A la carte menu. Food prices were reasonable and of high quality. A wonderful experience all round and Zider is one of the nicest people you could meet...she made sure all our needs were met and more. Thank you Hotel Rural Victoria for making our 10 day stay a perfect one. We will be back!

Review 4:nothing terrible at all but think its a bit overpriced.out of the 5 hotels we stayed in this trip this was most expensive (marginally) and the one we liked least but the others were excellent. Coffee and juice at breakfast weren't nice.

Review 5:nice old building especially internal courtyard and small roof terrace.

Review 6:The bed was too hard, and our room faced the street and was quite noisy.... not the ideal for a rather expensive room where you expect to be comfortable

Review 7:Old rustic place and the restaurant was very very good, highly recommended!

Review 8:we were allocated a room on the roof which was difficult to access with our luggage. No lift.

Review 9:Beautiful old building with stunning view from the rooftop and we enjoyed dining in the courtyard the food was good.

Review 10:Breakfast tea was made with unfiltered tap water, affecting the taste.

Review 11:Nice roof terrace. Perfect location in Orotava. Spacious and clean rooms. Staff helpful and friendly. Contrary to other comments, I found the breakfast good and solid, although nothing special.

Review 12:On street parking was pretty tight. Traffic noise was significant.

Review 13:We liked the historical ambiance of the hotel in the heart of old city. Their restaurant is excellent, great food properly served.

Review 14:A very pleasant and quiet hotel run by very helpful and friendly staff that provided an excellent inclusive of room rate breakfast. The hotel restaurant provided high quality food with very good service. The building itself was full of character with a lovely covered and light-filled atrium.

Review 15:We felt that the room was rather stark with no table and only two upright chairs. Two more comfortable chairs would have been welcome. Although in no way to do with the hotel, the reason we moved on was due to the very steep streets in La Orotava which we found very tiring and difficult.

Review 16:The view from our bedroom was spectacular and the hotel is a beautiful, typical, old building with the rooms around the courtyard.

Review 17:The staff couldn't have been more friendly, helpful and obliging. Miguel, Zaira and Jonoton made us feel very welcome and looked after our every need. We had one evening meal there which was 'par excellence', beautifully cooked and presented. Our room was very comfortable and with a lovely view. We will definitely return to the Hotel Rural Victoria in La Orotava.

Review 18:You can feel time in this hotel - woodwork and gentle elegance everywhere. The building itself is beautiful and has its own magic. We slept like babies in our top floor room; despite the heat and noise outside, it was cool and calm, comfortable, and very restful.

Review 19:The location, in the historic centre of La Orotova, near all the sights that we wanted to visit. The beautiful old house, the high ceiling of the room we stayed in, and the view towards the valley of Orotova.

Review 20:waited 40 mins to check in as 1 man serving in restaurant and running check in .... hopeless. waited 20 mins past booked time for dinner table. Waited for drinks. Waited for menu ( wrong one!) Gave in and left . Hopeless.

Review 21:good location lovely building

Review 22:Breakfast very unimaginative, especially compared to the dinner experience.

Review 23:Nice, cozy rooms. Excellent dinner in the restaurant! The town itself is nice, although not as beautiful and lively as La Laguna, so if you had to pick one "old town" in the north, I'd take La Laguna.

Review 24:Parking the car was a serious problem. The nearest simple ample parking is achieved by walking through the cemetery to the other side, where cars could easily be parked: otherwise it was challenging!

Review 25:The historic style of the hotel with its great internal courtyard is wonderful. The staff were most helpful and welcoming. Our room on the second floor was spacious and very comfortable with a view towards the sea: there was nothing to complain of. The breakfast was good with great variety, and dinner was really worth staying in for, even though there are many good places to eat nearby.

Review 26:The room didn't have a double bed, but we solved this by putting 2 singles together. Rooms could have a better noise insulation. Parking is not abundant, but we always found a free space within 5 minutes.

Review 27:We stayed for 6 nights. The staff was extremely helpful and professional. A special thanks goes to Manuel for making us feel at home! Lovely historical building at a good location. Great (and affordable) restaurant. The semi-private roof terrace was a real bonus. Don't doubt to book a night in this hotel!

Review 28:Breakfast could have been better, it was only average and the coffee was poor. It dd not match the standard of the hotel.

Review 29:Nicely restored historical building with comfortable rooms and a charming courtyard and small restaurant. Excellent menu and very attentive service. Helpful staff and very well situated as a base to explore the island, and close to Teide National Park and many quality restaurants in La Orotava. Very good value overall.

Review 30:The breakfast was a bit disappointing

Review 31:lovely hotel, good location in the historic centre, great atmosphere. The food was outstanding and Miguel the waiter was very knowing about wine and food. We would visit this hotel again

Review 32:The service at Rural Victoria is excellent! The staff makes you feel at home. They are most helpful, kind and considerate. The hotel is beautiful and comfortable, and the food is delicious! Best Gin&Tonic ever! :) We very much enjoyed our stay! Do enjoy yours!

Review 33:Ceilings of rooms too low so giving a darker impression to the already dark room (not much of sunlight). Breakfast coffee was not good at all.

Review 34:good location in center but difficult to park. clean rooms, everything available but nothing fancy. Breakfast buffet was standard but good.

Review 35:Seemed understaffed when we were there. Amenities in the room like the safe and tv didn't work. Bathroom was tiny and needs updating. Rooms hot at night, even with the fan on.

Review 36:The location was great. The building is lovely.

Review 37:Parking a car can be difficult, but the hotel staff will allow one night of overnight parking in front of the hotel on their zig-zag lines.

Review 38:Great hotel in the middle of the old village of Orotava - the area has built up around it! Very friendly staff and, if in the area, I would definitely use the hotel again. Super rooftop area for late evening drinks. Very Spanish feel to the hotel - which was very nice.

Review 39:Bizarre decor in the restaurant Disappointing breakfast, including terrible coffee Very small bathroom shower

Review 40:Excellent bed Exceptional restaurant for dinner Superb location and view onto the street Quiet Beautifully appointed reception area

Review 41:No proper breakfast, no cozy environment for having a lunch... Rooms are dated and very noisy (streetside). WiFi inadequate

Review 42:Historic building. Saida was very helpful

Review 43:Parking was a challenge in the town.

Review 44:Staff efficient and helpful, building a gem in the town centre.

Review 45:Trying to find parking

Review 46:Building is beautiful, as is the restaurant

Review 47:Beautiful building and very welcoming staff. Had a lovely meal during our stay at the hotel.

Review 48:Beautiful hotel in the old building. Good breakfast. Right in the center of the nice small town.

Review 49:Room 301 on the rooftop was great

Review 50:Lack of parking space.

Review 51:The restaurant is amazing, the bar area is lovely, total chill out. It's just a gorgeous place.

Review 52:The room was large and comfortable and very peaceful. The staff were all very courteous.

Review 53:Parking can be an issue

Review 54:Beautiful building....good bedroom

Review 55:Parking was an issue. Really needed to use local public parking. Breakfast was ordinary.

Review 56:Good central location. Value for money.

Review 57:Charming hotel in a lovely old Canarian house. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent food in the restaurant.

Review 58:Dirty carpets

Review 59:Having a balcony on our room

Review 60:Set dinner menu was limited

Review 61:Location great , staff helpful and friendly ; hotel ambience was a factor also

Review 62:Right in the middle of a beautiful area

Review 63:Window view.

Review 64:Very beautiful place, comfortable room, extremely well situated, very nice staff .. and on the top of this, the restaurant is very good!

Review 65:Excellent restaurant Cosy room

Review 66:noise from the street in the room no wifi available inside the room

Review 67:food

Review 68:Hard pillow, lack of air conditioning

Review 69:Food, location, beautiful old house

Review 70:Excellent lunch and dinner

Review 71:Great food, comfortable bedrooms and bed, great location, free wi-fi, and not a pocket hole-burner!

Review 72:The breakfast was ok but not great and we felt it was a little expensive.

Review 73:The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The restaurant food in the evening was excellent. The building was charming and the location perfect.

Review 74:The building retained its traditional style and charm and was furnished accordingly. Our room also had a furnished private terrace, a great bonus. The bar situated in the roofed courtyard area was amazing. We ate in the restaurant and the food was fantastic with great service. If we return to La Orotava we would certainly book to stay in this hotel again.

Review 75:The staff was excellent, made me feel "home away from home" without being intrusive. The breakfast was very nice. And the hotel is just beautiful!!

Review 76:Very disappointing, room needs a complete revamp, size was fine but everything else was like staying at your Grans house, old faded carpet, curtains and bedding. The decor in the main areas was cheap and tacky it could have been so nice if someone with some taste had updated it. We stayed in the Isla Baja suites in Garachico after this hotel , equally as old as the victoria but tastefully and stylishly decorated - worlds apart!!

Review 77:Location was very convenient for access to the nicer end of the town. The food from the a la carte menu was excellent and good value.

Review 78:Our second visit to this hotel and we were again really pleased that we had made this choice. The staff couldn't be more helpful and pleasant and it's a special place to stay, as is La Orotava.

Review 79:a bit on the expensive side for this location.

Review 80:beautiful large bedroom, very comfortable bed, lovely spanish building, nice bar and eating area, the roof terrace was an unexpected bonus and the staff were, polite and friendly.

Review 81:Our problem was that we stayed in the hotel the night before Christmas, and of course waited a quit and peaceful night. However, there was very noisy and disturbing “fireworks” (i.e. small bombs) over the midnight. On Christmas Eve the restaurant was closed (we were informed in time). In case of cold nights, please check the heating.

Review 82:The hotel was absolutely beautiful as well as the nearby surroundings in the La Oratova town. The nice lady in reception who also took care of breakfast was most helpful and gave very nice impression. In case of staying overnight on that side of island, we certainly would come again. Very much recommended by us.

Review 83:Lovely small hotel in a traditional house located in the historical part of town. Very friendly, efficicent and helpful staff. Goumet food with excellent selection of Tenerife wines.

Review 84:We stayed in the room towards the street. The windows were black with dirt! they had isolation strips around the windows peeling down. The carpet was full of stains and i felt grossed out to sleep there. We stayed in the hotel mainly because of their gourmet Michelin Chef - what a huge dissappointment, any above average Restaurant in Berlin is better than this. We stayed in November and i was cold at night, cause the heating only went on after 7pm. This would be ok (but not good) for less money and no expectations. I couldn't wait to leave this Hotel!

Review 85:very central

Review 86:More comfortable beds with proper duvets would have made our stay even better,

Review 87:super hotel with delightful staff and lots of character. Good location, fantastic dinner.

Review 88:The cooked items at breakfast could have been kept at a highertemperature. WiFi reception in our room was marginal but very good inthe atrium.

Review 89:This hotel was very well run with lovely furnishings and relaxedatmosphere. The staff were very helpful and the evening meals wereoutstanding - we ate there for all 7 nights of our stay - there was nopoint in looking elsewhere. The central atrium, with comfortablefurniture and bar, was a very nice light and airy feature. The location, close to the interesting areas of La Orotava, was also a plus.

Review 90:Very small shower but it didn't really matter as only there for 3 days.

Review 91:Lovely relaxing atmosphere very authentic Canary Island Hotel. Lots of history Lovely courtyard and restaurant/bar area. Very helpful and kind staff. Quiet peaceful location with beautiful views from the roof terrace.

Review 92:We paid for a superior room which wasn't especially spacious - although in fairness it had great views.

Review 93:The helpfulness of the staff was exemplary; unobtrusive but thorough, and particularly sensitive to my disability requirements. The hotel is beautifully appointed around a large courtyard, and is well situated for exploring La Orotava on foot.

Review 94:Room 101 could do with a better mattress and the provision of tissues in the bedroom should be considered. Storage is limited. Parking can be a problem.

Review 95:The ambiance is spanish colonial country house built into mediterranean townscape. The fittings are up to date, the tiling particularly well done. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. The cooking is simple but of very high quality , the house red wine is excellent and both are good value. It was so good that we ate in the hotel each evening which we never do normally.

Review 96:Most rooms seemed to have twin beds and we would have preferred a double.

Review 97:The food served in the restaurant is excellent and the roof terrance is lovely. It's a great little hotel.

Review 98:Beds a bit too firm for me. Difficult parking on street outside but a daily challenge!

Review 99:Food excellent and friendly helpful staff. The old town is very pretty and interesting.

Review 100:Located in picturesque and immaculately maintained old town a car drive away from places of interest. Very nice, staff, lovely roof terrace and excellent restaurant

Review 101:Nothing to fault.

Review 102:Location perfect for exploring old town. Excellent value for money menu del dia. We stayed in small room at the top of the hotel which had large terrace with the best views of the surrounding countryside incl. Tiede.

Review 103:There is no AC in the rooms but after we asked the staff gave us a fun and we were really fine (even a little cold).

Review 104:The hotel has a very unique atmosphere. It location is great. Very easy to get to with a car and pritty easy to find parking. The staff is super nice and helpful.

Review 105:Noise which travels up to the bedrooms from restaurant/bar area below- if you have good hearing!

Review 106:Very helpful staff. Beautiful views. Quiet location.

Review 107:No car park. Parking the car difficult on side streets as very busy andlots of one ways.

Review 108:Lovely traditional Spanish hotel with so much character. Deliciousevening meal and local Tenerife wines. Extremely friendly and helpfulreceptionist. Beautiful, historic town to explore. Got upgraded to asuite with a balcony. Great views from the roof terrace.

Review 109:We liked the staff very much and felt that they did incredibly well, even though there was usually only one person on duty waiting and covering reception and the bar and tapas bar! They were incredibly cheerful and friendly. The food was marvelous too and the chef turned out to be Scottish and funny (cuisine very much Tenerife however).

Review 110:Nothing to dislike, we were well received and left happy and relaxed.Note that there is no lunchtime menu of the day on weekends (this isunclear on the website).

Review 111:A beautiful, elegant hotel with lots of old charm and beautiful viewsfrom the roof terrace. La Orotava is a lovely little town, all woodenbalconies and palm trees.

Review 112:The gushing reviews and flattering photos on the web are accurate. Thishotel and restaurant really are pleasant and charming.

Review 113:Cooked breakfasts

Review 114:Location, quaint old building

Review 115:Not staying for longer!

Review 116:Lovely atmosphere, a very comfortable room, superb dining in the restaurant, and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff.

Review 117:not a best deal for the price you have to pay

Review 118:location

Review 119:Excellent service from the staff. Very helpful

Review 120:Old-style, comfortable, great views, lovely roof terrace, quiet, friendly staff

Review 121:Parking is a problem and wifi only works reception.

Review 122:Splendid hotel in an historic part of Orotava. Great food reasonable prices and helpful staff.

Review 123:No pool, the room rather dark, WiFi unreliable.

Review 124:The building, the terrace, the breakfast, the location.
