Reviews for Mansion Alcazar

Review 1:I can't say enough wonderful things about this gem in Ecuador. The staff was wonderful and was always willing to go the extra mile. My husband got sick during our stay and the staff called a doctor to the hotel to look after him and the staff checked on him periodically when the rest of the family was out of the hotel. The facilities are beautiful and it a great area of town where everything is in walking distance. I would definitely return and highly recommend this hotel to others

Review 2:We were more than pleased with Mansion Alcazar. The location in the central portion of Cuenca was perfect. We had a beautiful, comfortable room with excellent service. The breakfast was outstanding each morning. The staff was extremely friendly and helped answer any questions we had. A very luxurious hotel - we would definitely stay there again.

Review 3:But, we were shocked at the ticket price when we checked out. The room we had confirmed by Booking.com was $110.00 per night. Our bill was for $ 223.00 per night. We felt we were misled and taken advantage of. Until we checked out we were thrilled wth Alcazar==we even bought bathrobes for $ 60.00 a piece. We felt cheated when we got the room tab. We were told we filled out the reservation wrong and the charge was for a single person. Both my name and my wife's name were on the reservation however. Booking or Alcazar we feel we were taken advantage of.

Review 4:The food, the room, the service was excellent--could not be better. This was a hotel that could be a hit in Paris.

Review 20:Beautiful facility. The entire staff was did all they could to be helpful and friendly. Service was spectacular. Food was great. Hated to leave.

Review 21:Breakfast is continental with hot items available-room for improvement.,room needs a desk,

Review 22:Wifi,location,walk in shower,restaurant,lobby piano,garden,colonial heritage furniture, tranquil atmosphere,water fountain,room & bathroom good size & quality,friendly & helpful staff.internet access/printer.afternoon tea in lobby.

Review 23:Wish there had been a small refrigerator in room.

Review 24:Staff was amazing! Restaurant menu very nice, not too expansive, or expensive. Duck consommé very nice. Bar hours a little short. Attention to detail...wonderful! And the hot water bottle under the sheets when the bed was turned down was "over the top, decadent!"

Review 25:The rooms are perfect with large standing showers with marble benches.Your room will either open up to a world class garden built in theinterior of the open parts of the building, or it will open up into amagical sitting area. The sitting area, all with the most beautifulclassical Ecuadorian furniture. In the evenings a pianist or harpistentertains while you sip your wine. Your room will be perfect. It willinclude an easy to use safe, not that you would have to worry about anyof your valuables, but it is good for passports… The front desk personalre willing to speak to you in either english or spanish. I am sure oneor two may also speak german or dutch.

Review 26:Room fabulous next to garden & dining room but heard no noise; luxury antique Spanish bed with canopy; hot water bottle under down comforter at night & chocolate; exceptional menu & breakfast buffet; never had to sign for anything--staff knew who I was & what Room #; security exceptional with locked gates; gorgeous outdoor garden. Best hotel ever & I'm 70 yo. & have stayed in many.

Review 27:Although this is the most expensive hotel in Cuenca, the price didntmeasure up with my experience. I could not therefore recommend it. Uponarrival I was given a warm towel to freshen up with - my partnerdeclined which proved to be a wise choice as after I had wiped my faceand hands off I realised the towel (now my face and hands) had anunpleasand sweaty odor. Apparently I was not the first person that dayto use it. In the bedroom there is only one channel on the tv and thatwas cnn with repetitive news from 3 days prior. I called the front deskand was told that was my only choice. The lights in the room are set upso that you cannot have a bed lamp turned on. Everything is either on oroff including a bright spot light pointed at your pillow which cannotwork if one partner wishes to rest while the other prefers to read. AlsoI could hear the next door room people clearly and their tv late atnight ~ quite annoying and not something you might expect at this pricelevel. There are no curtains at some of the windows for those of us thatlike to sleep in. Clearly a dissapointing experience. All is not losthowever ~ for those of you wanting a great experience, fantastic helpfulstaff, perfect location near the main square, amazing food, anduninflated prices I highly recommend the Santa Lucia at half the price.

Review 28:Gardens are pretty, breakfast was very good with friendly staff.

Review 29:Only thing wrong was too much flowery potpourri smell throughout the lobby (not in the rooms).

Review 30:Beautiful, colonial boutique hotel. Fantastic rooms and service.

Review 31:A little noisy at times, creaky floorboards, no tea or coffee facilities in room, cluttered with jaded antiques, only some of which deserved a place. Slightly sleepy waiters, slow and forgetful service. Suite 202 much smaller than expected and lounge (that was only separated from the bed by an archway) was awkwardly arranged and not comfortable for watching TV or longer periods of 'lounging'.

Review 32:Excellent reception staff, friendly, extremely helpful, good restaurant, garden, humming birds, intimate feel, colonial character property, a charming oasis in a noisy city that stank of diesel fumes.

Review 33:Still try to find!!!

Review 34:Everything was great :very comfortable suite with a private living room and view on the garden, location ,superb interior ,beautiful garden, excellent restaurant and bar and above all the very friendly and helpful staff .It is really a place with an exceptional atmosphere in the center of Cuenca where you feel at home .

Review 35:Wonderful stay , very romantic hotel giving the feeling of honeymoon even after many years marriage . Beautiful garden , so meticulous in details like candlelights in the night , flowers everywhere , rose petals in the toilettes and bathroom .... I can continue forever with my positive description . I don't have to forget to say that the food was excellent !
