Reviews for Parador de Las Cañadas del Teide
Review 1:Pillows awful for sleeping ( but no different from elsewhere in Spain) That' the only complaint I have, which tells you all!
Review 2:Location,staff v.friendly
Review 3:Breakfast was expensive and choice limited
Review 4:The location was everything we had hoped for. We came for the night sky and it was perfect. Thank you we have recommended you to all our friends and relatives
Review 5:Spent a wonderful night at the parador to watch the stars in the evening. It is a beautiful building with fantastic staff and home comforts. We felt very special being here, it was very romantic to sit by the fire and the Christmas tree was beautiful. Excellent staff and service.
Review 6:This is an excellent high quality Spanish hotel in a fantastic location, friendly helpful staff, high quality food and room facilities. The dark night sky was amazing ( with binoculars). From this location being on the first cable car in the morning was easy.
Review 7:Very little outdoor seating to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the location; only the terrace by the bar. The room was above the bar area, so a late-night party woke us up.
Review 8:Wonderful staying in the national park to go walking from the hotel. We were fortunate to have warm sunny weather all week; and the stars shone brightly in the clear night skies.
Review 9:It was difficult to heat our room (casi nada de control de califacción). There was only one brand of beer sold (a kind I dislike) No reason, except to make money with a special contract. There is a military-style fence to prevent customers from easily leaving the outside tables of the cafeteria. Instead they must exit through the gift shop. Stupid idea. Summary: In the past few years the Parador has become too commercial, too much like any other business whose only priority is to make money.
Review 10:The air is very dry in the room (which is partly due to the climate, and partly due to the heating), and it is not helpful that the blankets are synthetic. You can see a very nice lightenings in the night when turning from one side to the other! :)
Review 11:The hotel is surounded by the volcano mountains, so the view is amazing! The stars are very bright, so good for star gasing, and close to Teleferico. The building is beautiful, and the decor is tasteful. The room was spaceous and warm (which was important as the nights were cold!). Food was good, but pricey. Bathroom is good, with nice fan.
Review 12:Evening meal was slightly disappointing, no vegetables. Breakfast eggs and bacon cold. Also we felt not sufficient staff around to assist. No tea & coffee making facilities in room.
Review 13:Very convenient for walking.Warm comfortable room
Review 14:We were unlucky with some very noisy young cyclists having a party in the room next door, which the receptionist had to sort out.
Review 15:Location is stunning with good size rooms and very comfortable beds. We had an amazing view of Mount Tiede from our window. Dinner was good and lots of it. Great place to spend a couple of nights.
Review 16:2nd photo is our 'room with a view'. We paid for the double superior which gives you this great view. Great service... staff bent over backwards to be helpful. Quiet when we stayed there.
Review 17:We hope more options to a'la carte and major food rations. I got the fish with only a half potato and 3 cm piece of carrot. We hiked and train in the mountains, so we are hungry.
Review 18:Breakfast is plentifull ond very tasty.
Review 19:Fabulous photogenic location. Dinner was much better than suggested by the English menu (e.g. 'soggy rice'!) We enjoyed sitting by the open log fire in the evening.
Review 20:1. We stayed during a weekend, and all the time there was a Porsche and VW corporate party going on, using the parking lot in front of the hotel entrance. All visitors, including hotel guests were denied access to that parking. This turned out not to be a problem, as there is a dedicated parking lot for hotel guests in the hotel's backyard, but to learn that if you are there for the first time, you have to drop your car in the middle of the road and go to the reception. Signs displaying words 'hotel guests' and arrows showing the direction to the parking would do the job better. 2. The Wi-Fi connection is good, but works only in the reception area. I understand this is done to limit traffic, as Internet connection in such a place must be quite limited, so have really no complaint about this.
Review 21:Everything, in fact. The strange thing is that the hotel is rated as two-star, as it has all the amenities typical for a 4-star hotel, and the cost is also more like 4 stars. Is it because there is no bus stop or a supermarket nearby? :)
Review 22:the food and drinks are expensive. we had food & drinks with us, so no worries :) you should do the same!!! i find the rooms quite expensive... but its the location you pay.
Review 23:the location is top!!! the sunrise is actually best from the carpark of the hotel!!!! and its close the hikes etc. also they have a small sauna, a swimming pool and a fireplace. great after a long day of climbing teide! we could see the teide summit from our window.... :)
Review 24:Breakfast very expensive, dinner good value only if you have the starter/dessert option and have two half portions of starters.
Review 25:Generally excellent
Review 26:Only one bus per day goes there from Los Cristianos, which makes it difficult to reach the hotel. The heating in the swimming pool was not working properly so we couldn t use it.
Review 27:enjoyable and relaxing with very friendly staff.
Review 28:Ripped off at breakfast. Charged over 30 euros for our breakfasts but we had a very modest breakfast. It seems this Parador charges everyone the same (HIGH!) amount regardless of what they actually consume. Chap on the table next to us obviously knew the score - he wolfed down two large cooked breakfasts. And presumably was charged at the same rate as I was!!
Review 29:LOCATION The desk clerk changed our room when I complained we actually had no view of the place we'd come to see.......
Review 30:Location, we had an amazing view of Teide from our window. Food was good and portions were substantial. They provide proper hairdryers! (you don't have to hold down an 'On' button as with other hotels)
Review 31:The hot food at breakfast was cold.
Review 32:Location in the Cañadas del Teide is superb. Views of Teide and the surrounding area, especially in the morning and evening. Staff very good. Excellent Wi-Fi.
Review 33:Staff were quite ignorant - would have expected more in such a prime location .
Review 34:Always wanted to stay in national park - prime location for hiking & scenery .
Review 35:for our evening meal we ordered a medium rare steak and receiving a well done grisly uneatable piece of meat ??? it might of helped if we had been furnished with steak knives Breakfast was no better my wife and I were amongst the first in the restaurant for breakfast but the hot food was cold eg eggs beans etc if you required a continental breakfast or cereals this was fine.
Review 36:fantastic views day and night
Review 37:amazing position, on the Teide, the view is outstanding and the nighrs, with the stars and the milky way are a wonder. The room are large and confortable, a really magnificent hotel!
Review 38:So much noise coming from the corridor - woke us up in the middle of the night. Wifi doesn't work in the rooms. Poor selection in the restaurant. Photos of the rooms (superior) is much better then in reality.
Review 39:Great location
Review 40:Food is expensive and only one vegetarian dish on the menu. As there are no other restaurants nearby, you have no other option in the evening, but we avoided it for breakfast and lunch. Windows from the bedroom are small and there is no balcony which is a shame as the views are great.
Review 41:Amazing location in the centre of the national park. Great views and walks. Powerful shower and comfy bed.
Review 42:We can call it Parador's standard. Great room, great view, great staff....it 's difficult to find what we didn't like...maybe the prices on the bar should be lower :)
Review 43:Great location convenient to most walking trails. Great view of Mount Teide from bedroom window although fortunate that weather was favorable during stay.
Review 44:No - good value for the location
Review 45:Fantastic location, seeing the Milky Way from the bedroom window (and even better from outside) and dawn and dusk views
Review 46:Wifi not realy good Some members of staff a bir "cold"
Review 47:Location - beautiful surroundings & night sky! Design of public areas Breakfast - great selection & delicious
Review 48:There is no wifi in the rooms, only in the hall. The swimming pool is really small and didn't seem too clean.
Review 49:Great location, one of the best I've ever seen! We had a drink at the tables outside for a very reasonable price considering the great view we could enjoy. The tanning beds in the back of the hotel are awesome, the ideal place for a little bit of relax after walking the whole day.
Review 50:Swimming pool could have been larger. It was okay though. Gym was small but okay.
Review 51:Location and views from the hotel. Staff were nice and helpful. Food and drink was good. Air conditioning was good and bathroom facilities were good.
Review 52:No tea/coffee making facilities in room. Limited and expensive menu, bar shuts shortly after 10, tries to cater for the upper end of the market without being convincing.
Review 53:Location is excellent in the middle of the caldera. Comfortable rooms.
Review 54:- the service of the restaurant is slow.
Review 55:- a good place for astronomy photography - staffs are helpful but some are not fluent in English - good quality with the food provide by the restaurant
Review 56:Inconsistency of the evening meals - same meal on second night was extremely poor and contained very little meat. Breakfast - 'Hot' bacon and eggs were cold and unpleasant. No tea or coffee facilities in the room. We booked a double room but received a twin.
Review 57:Location, views and service
Review 58:Dreadful breakfast, poor evening meal and being asked to pay 3 euros for a small soft drink all served by staff who seemed disengaged and hard to find!
Review 59:The peace and quiet of the location before the tourists arrive for the day
Review 60:First room allocated was near a very noisy generator at the back of the hotel. Room was changed without any fuss but this would have been a problem if hotel had been full. It would be good to have tea/ coffee making facilities in the room. Dinner service can be hit and miss. Avoid time when coach load arrives at about 6.30pm! Meat was not of good quality generally and main meal items on their own were expensive.
Review 61:Location is great. Wonderful view of Mount Teide from hotel and fantastic walks on your doorstep. Second room allocated was good.
Review 62:Lack Of outside facilities, comfy chairs, sunshades, lack of staff, average food in restaurant, light bulbs blown, fly screens broken, not previous Parador experience
Review 63:Location
Review 64:Wi-Fi coverage not great
Review 65:Views of Teide were great and night time with clear skies were something special. Probably one of the best breakfast choices i've had at a hotel.
Review 66:We booked room only and the food in the restaurant was expensive and a little "samey". Breakfast in particular was very expensive at 17.50 euros each
Review 67:Location absolutely fabulous!. Astronomy show was good. Room comfortable with good mountain views. Staff were great and could accommodate my requests for gluten-free meals easily.
Review 68:They actually didn't record my booking properly, and initially told me it was all full. I was like: "Yeah, with me, as I booked!" They did sort it out in about twenty mins.
Review 69:The reception staff sorted me out an early breakfast, AND gave me a lift to the start of the volcano trek!
Review 70:Hiking tips were a bit misleading, reception told us that the time estimates given were for "ida y vuelta" (return trips) but it is only one way. Other than that a wonderful evening and morning valide to Teide
Review 71:Wonderful scenery, cosy pool with magnificent view of the mountains. Good Breakfast, great fireplace and friendly staff.
Review 72:The staff were friendly. The restaurant had a very good reasonably priced menu. The location is stunning. What brilliant service - I left my favorite shoes in the wardrobe of my room and with one phone call to the hotel they were posted back to me. A million thanks Roberto. You are a hero!
Review 73:Initially overcharged by 40 euro on the room price. The swimming pool was closed for 'cleaning'. Left in the dark in the rest room as the light in the cubicle wasnt working and the rest of the lights are on a motion sensor. The hot food at breakfast was barely warm and onto cold plates.
Review 74:Good views of the surrounding countryside and well positioned for walks etc. Bar and restaurant in an otherwise remote area. Excellent service in the restaurant. Plenty of choice at breakfast.
Review 75:They need more staff in the evenings because tour groups arrive (30-50 of them) and hotel guests have to wait patiently for their dinner (2 3/4 hours for 2 courses!) - a management issues, the waiters etc did their best.
Review 76:Wonderful location, beautiful sunsets, lots of lovely walks (thanks to the fantastic staff in the information office).
Review 77:Not applicable
Review 78:The silence when all the day visitors have gone. The night sky is very spectacular. A beer by a big wood fire. Superb walking direct from the hotel
Review 79:Bread in the restaurant and at breakfast... should be fresh.
Review 80:Having the possibility to stay a night with the view of Teide is amazing. The hotel is cozy, charming and comfortable but a bit of a faded beauty, i.e. bathrooms. Portions in restaurant are huge - good for hiking.
Review 81:Nothing not to like. The gym and indoor pool looked a bit tired
Review 82:Proximity to the cable car, walks and stunning landscape. Our room was extremely comfortable.
Review 83:We waited a long time at the reception before someone attended to us. For the restaurant: the dishes are delicious but the time to wait there to take the order and then to be served is really enormous!! There is a noisy electricity generator, our room was near it and we could hear it during whole night
Review 84:The localisation is totally incredible and great!!
Review 85:There was nothing we did not like
Review 86:The hotel was warm and welcoming. The location was stunning and the views from our room of the sunset were spectacular.
Review 87:Twin beds (would have preferred a double)
Review 88:Feeling like we had the whole park to ourselves. The utter blackness of the night. The thickness of the stars (there is a free lecture from an astronomer every night at 2200). Top staff, comfortable room, twin sinks(!), the view from the window - we could see El Teide but I imagine every room would have a fantastic view.
Review 89:The heating which is through the air conditioning system. A hotel built in this location, at this altitude and likely weather conditions should have a conventional separate heating system in the bedrooms. Running the a/c for heat always gives me a head cold. 3 days on I am still suffering.
Review 90:The location and the comfort of the public areas, restaurant, bar and lobby, particularly the open log fire in the lounge. The views in all directions are spectacular day and night. The cafe has a lovely sun terrace. We had a very enjoyable, good quality dinner with pleasant service. Breakfast buffet is good but not as wide a choice as some other Paradors.
Review 91:Expensive. Monopoly situation allows high prices. The restaurant is like Fawlty Towers-several of the options were 'off', the standard was poor and all very expensive. Suggest visiting Vilaflora (25 mins drive down the valley) for an authentic meal for half the price.
Review 92:Outstanding location next to dramatic volcanic scenery and clear night skies
Review 93:The service in the restaurant is extremely slow. Restaurant and other facilities like sauna / pool area were very cold in winter and not enjoyable. Sauna and pool are in a separate outside building and weren't properly heated so we didn't use them in the end, though we really wanted to.
Review 94:Amazing location with stunning views of Mt Teide. We joined a star demonstration on Friday night by an astronomer who comes over, it was very interesting and enjoyable.
Review 95:When we went the restaurant was quite busy and the food and service were poor. The decoration generally is "tired".
Review 96:The location and a star gazing evening was good
Review 97:Wifi was iffy. Dinner overly formal in large empty dining room. Would prefer a less formal option (though food was v good).
Review 98:Lovely public lounges with log fire. Comfortable room and great bed. Hotel was happy to keep our luggage the following day while we hiked. Views! Being steps away from the amazing Les Roques and Guajarra. Being in the same hotel as the UK Sky cycling team.
Review 99:The language skills of the staff at the hotel is woeful and they are very unhelpful. The restaurant (which is your only option in this remote location) doesn't have a single vegetarian main option on the menu and options they eventually offer you are average at best.
Review 100:Great location and adequate facilities
Review 101:We were a bit disappointed with the quality of the dinner
Review 102:Fantastic location, the room was comfortable, breakfast very good. The staff was very helpful.
Review 103:-Breakfast and meals pricy.
Review 104:-The location, the views from the rooms are superb and clean. -Lovely walks near by. -Quiet and calm at night. -Warm and cosy rooms
Review 105:breakfast buffet is quite expensive but good and has many choices
Review 106:clean and large rooms, great location right at the volcano, good wlan speed, we loved to sit in the lobby with the big fire place and sip wine
Review 107:In the evening we went out and in three times, looking for the cloud to lift so we could see the stars - which did happen at 10.30pm and we spent a couple of hours lying in the car park staring at them in awe and freezing. So, three times we passed three different men on reception. And three times we said 'hola' or 'buenos tardes' or 'buenos noches'.. And three times they just stared at us and said nothing. Very unfriendly compared to the restaurant staff, who were lovely, and the maid and the lady who checked us in.
Review 108:Lady who checked us in was lovely despite being overworked - fax machines and phones going off all over the place and just her apparently doing all the work. Restaurant staff and maid very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Stars at night jaw-dropping. Nice old parador feeling - cosy with sofas, books, nooks for when it rains and lots of dark wood.
Review 109:Dinner in restaurant disappointing and not really value for money. Staff over worked as massive group in for dinner the night we stayed. Had to push for table in main restaurant even though we had booked. Some guests in foyer to restaurant and given the price, this seemed unreasonable. Cable car nearby not running so check before you book if you intend going on it.
Review 110:Really loved location. Landscape amazing. Bit overwhelmed however by coach loads of tourists! Room very comfortable, bathroom well equipped.Star gazing a little over-rated. Can see as many stars in Bakewell UK as too many lights from hotel and cars passing.
Review 111:traditional spanish styling throughout Quality finish in rooms standard of hotel very good relaxed atmosphere very friendly staff oh and..... AWESOME location for Sunsets, Sunrises, Milky Way. only stayed one night, would have liked to have stayed longer. hopefully next time.
Review 112:Food and drink quite expensive, but we enjoyed our stay so much that for us it was worth it. Next door cafe is very expensive, and has unfriendly and unhelpful staff. Avoid if you can. Coach parties come in for dinner at parador, but they were seated in a separate part of the restaurant to us, and left by 9 pm so didn't really affect us.
Review 113:Great location, we didn't have a room overlooking Mt Teide, but all the scenery from the hotel is spectacular. Comfortable room, excellent G&Ts and evening meal. Choice of local wines. Worth a visit for the stars at night alone. All staff friendly and helpful.
Review 114:A limited a la carte menu. Sound insulation is poor. We would hope that the breakfast would beging to 7.00 am or 7.30 am (not 8.00 am).
Review 115:A wonderful mountain environment, good and varied breakfast buffet.
Review 116:To get a good parking space for walking on Teide it would be nice if the breakfast could open earlier.
Review 117:The atmosphere at the hotel was superb, quiet and distinct. A not too overloaded menu gave us the freedom to choose typical dishes for lunch and dinner. The selection for breakfast was great.
Review 118:large external groups for dinner poor choice of evening meal foods poor shower 2 single beds not a double poor internet in room & even in lobby when a few people used it
Review 119:The location bath room ability to get to Teide lift by 9am Warm Excellent walks from thE door
Review 120:Evening meal. You can't have coach parties of 30 to 40 all arrive at once and not employ enough staff to cope. Resident guests on half board effectively pushed to the side. Staff in resteraunt hassled and unfriendly. Not that geared for walkers (most guests) in that breakfast not open til 8, no shuttle to the cable car offered.
Review 121:Great location and lounge area. Use of the telescope.
Review 122:a bit over-priced dinner and breakfast; 'stiff' atmosphere in the restaurant
Review 123:spacious room, views, vicinity of mountain Teide, some walking trails - excellent for a nights' stay
Review 124:Bar didn't open until 6.30!
Review 125:Fantastic location with lovely (warm!) indoor pool with the best views ever. Lovely dinner with very efficient and friendly waitress. Food choice limited but all very good. Room was great.
Review 126:I had problems printing my Ryanair boarding pass. The reception desk could not have been more helpful in getting in getting my boarding pass reprinted.
Review 127:The price :)
Review 128:It's a great hotel, really nice rooms, very clean. The staff is really professional. They also have a small pool and it was written that it closes at 18:30 but we arrived at 19:00 and it still was opened which was really nice. I also suppose it's a great place to watch the stars, but unfortunately it was raining the onle night we stayed there, so the sky was clouded. And the whole area is really nice, stunning landscapes and everything. Btw, the cafe is ok, the prices are affordable even for an economy tourist.
Review 129:1. Staff not too helpful or friendly except one lady staff member in restaurant/bar 2. Uncomfortable bedding 3. Overpriced restaurant with verylittle choice 4. Food not hot enough 5. No atmosphere-not even music-in restaurant or bar 6. Didn't even consider breakfast due to price €16.50 each 7. Pool room badly needed window washing-dirt blocked amazing view 8. Broken tile on bathroom floor 9. Need to make more effort, too reliant on a stunning location
Review 130:1. Location and scenery 2. Tranquility 3. Good quality rooms 4. WiFi in all areas of the hotel
Review 131:Thousands of moths in corridor and room. Too hot in the night to sleep (air conditioning didn't cool down). Water is too expensive, but you have no other choice...
Review 132:No kettle in room for tea/coffee. Café next door does not open until 10:00 am - so no tea or coffee etc unless you go for breakfast at 16+ euros per person (a lot to pay for a morning cup of tea). Bar shuts at 10:30pm. Telescopes freely available for star gazing but they are much too large and complex for amateur individuals like me.
Review 133:Restaurant provides excellent food and is open until 10pm. Swimming pool is very warm and inviting, room was a good size with comfortable beds and luxury bathroom, balcony for sitting watching stars at night
Review 134:- very expensive hotel restaurant (other cca 30 minutes drive away) - pool closes quite early - poor wi-fi
Review 135:Go for it, it´s absolutely worth the price: you simply cannot beat the location near Teide. Wonderful for nature-loveers who love stargazing, hiking and volcanic beauty around them. It´s one of the most amazing locations I´ve visited all around the world.
Review 136:Tour busses that stop in the evening at the bar next door. But you can't blame the hotel for that...
Review 137:Incredible setting. Fantastic view from the restaurant. Stylish interior in the joint areas. A real escape from daily Tenerife reality. 100% recommended!
